What is this thread about?

Well, things get quiet here on the weekends, so a thread was started to just hang out and do a virtual crop. Since then it's grown into more. Several people are now "regular" including myself. We chat about anything and everything. (Warning: Sometimes we stray into areas that may be considered "adult," although we always try to be tasteful about it.) We share our latest layouts, pictures, whatever interests us. We have fun and encourage each other.

It's now all week long, too. Since it is a new thread each week, it's easier for anyone to join. Even though we start over each week, it's STILL pages and pages long. Don't be intimidated, we are happy to have anyone drop by and say hello. Some of us read all the replies and keep up, but it is not required. Warning: It can get addictive!

Circle Journal Information:
I suggest 8x8 format because it's easy to do and will fit into a standard mailer.

It's everyone's choice to do either a single or a two page spread and to add whatever you want. Vivian, personally, would like to see a current photo, likes and dislikes on whatever, and something unusual about each person. Like for Liz/Moxie to show her extensive Stickles collection.

To keep things simple, do the same layout for everyone. You could change papers and such depending on your stash but keeping to the same design will make things much easier/faster and no one gets a better page from you than the next person. If someone is short on funds/time to make copies, digitals are acceptable. Even digital copies can be doctored up (read that as blinged) to make a hybrid layout.

PM those you want page(s) from and you'll be getting PMs from others in the Circle. Just let it be known you're interesting in doing this in the thread. This isn't just for VCWer, so if you want to add other people, go ahead. It's your album.

Please leave updates about yourself HERE . This is for those who can't be online as much as they would like to be.

Most of us also really love bling and encourage bling usage!

Come visit OUR GALLERY to meet some of the irregular regulars!

There are several of us who are dealing with weight/health issues, too, so we've started a HEALTHY CHALLENGE as a way to have support and accountability for whatever your goals may be.

So come on! Don't be bashful! And don't be afraid of the fact that this thread MOVES. Just jump in wherever we are, and we'll be glad to get you caught up on what's happening. We never know what we're going to talk about or how silly we will get.

WARNING: Reading of, or participation in, this thread could result in food or drink being sprayed across your computer.
Please practice proper food safety; eat and drink responsibly.

I think all the appropriate thread starting tasks have been accomplished correctly. I've started the thread, posted the blog, updated the blog link in the opening, and linked this thread to week #52.

I didn't put anything in about the circle journal because I'm not sure what to write, so Vivian, PM me with what you want it to say and I'll paste it in.

After sleeping from basically 5:30 last night to 4 this morning (I woke up for an hour to watch Shepherd Smith on Foxnews at 7) I feel so much better than I did yesterday! Words make sense! I can type at my regular rate rather than one letter every 15 seconds because the words in my brain were having trouble coming to my fingertips.

Todays agenda includes a run to the grocery, a run to a different LSS for a few more disney sheets, some paperwork stuff and hopefully working on a couple of LOs.

Oh my word you should have heard my daughter slam the door on her way out this morning. I was in the bathroom and she didn't know I was up, and she's mad because I haven't picked up her phone yet from the principal.

The way she slammed the door, even if I go pick it up today she my not get it back!

I got a hand written thank you card from one of the board members for that fundraiser health fair I did last November. I didn't expect that.

Well, my agenda includes getting dressed, running to the lab and pick up some equipment, run to my office to see a patient, run to another lab to drop off the equipment, and make it back here before the big storm hits...with a stop at the grocery because we are now out of bread, and milk....

and a stop at Wendy's for breakfast because we are out of bread and milk....

Top that off with dh being tied up due to flooding in our area - all the snow melt flowing south and heavy rains in the area..... So he is not around too much.

Oh I hear you on the flodding thing!! Even with all the marshes and dams and flood control plains we have built in to our area...bad. And now we are supposed to get this big snow storm...I'm sticking to major highways today!

I'm buying slimfast powder today. I didn't like how I looked in the vacation photos and I know I've been making bad food choices. If I have slim fast, fruits and veggies daily, I know I'll do better (and because I get the chocolate powder my sweet tooth cravings will be met as well).

We're under a flood watch until Sunday night. That snow storm you're getting is coming to us in the form of torrential downpours. I'd rather the snow - it will be less messy.

Do you like the Slimfast? Does it actually help keep you from eating other stuff?

I soooo wanted to get up early today. I have 4 places I need to go. I wanted to do ABCD...now I am at a point where even if I walked out the door right this minute I'm not sure I can do that...so now it will have to be ABDC and I don't like ABDC...
unless I don't go get my daughter's phone...oh that will just be ugly...and I don't want to take a chance on them closing the schools early.

I like it. I used to drink the pre-made shakes when I worked at Ritz - they were quick and nutritious. I don't know if it will keep me from eating the other stuff, but at least they will help make sure that I'm getting the nutrients I need.

I do find that if I make a smoothie with fat free yogurt, fruit and juices and put a little peanut butter in, that will satisfy me and hold me over until the next meal. Plus the P-butter gives me a boost of protein. Some times I also put a little bit of wheat germ in.

Hubby did go with me on the cruise to some seminars on flatter tummies...exercise, detoxing...he actually told me to go ahead and sign up to talk to the fitness/nutrtion instructor. I was SUPER skeptical of the whole thing. SUPER SUPER. But the guy ran my BMR and tested my water and fat content and told me I really am doing soooo many things right, but my water content and retention is still out of whack. He suggested a detoxification program. Says it will help my weight, my fatigue, may pain...cost a few bucks...and my hubby bought it!

So I am trying it, because it is all natural and I figure at this point I have nothing to lose. Well except this tire around my middle and a few more hours to my day in fatigue!

I can eat celery all day and not get sick of it, so if I need to chew on something, I can have some of that. The only thing I like from slim-fast are the shakes. And as for feeling hungry, I've been gorging lately and I think once I get in the habit of two shakes for breakfast and lunch and all the fruit and veggies I can eat for snacks I'll be in a better place. It was either this or the cabbage soup diet to jumpstart my eating plan and the cabbage soup diet you have to toally commit to the plan. Slimfast I can just switch things up a little by substituting a shake.

Of coarse he also says I really only need to lose about 7.5 pounds and I know I would feel better at about 15-20

(I know...SHUP) but for me it is the fibromyalgia and the way I feel, not being obese. Although I do snore at this weight and when I lose it I don't.
And just because I work with sleep apnea patients for a living and set up CPAP machines every day, doesn't mean I want to wear one!

I was where you are now 18 months ago - I only needed to drop 10-15 to be where I should be. Now I'm back to over 200 and I know that if I'm around 160-170 my back and knees won't ache and maybe the depression won't be as bad. I also didn't like seeing the belly rolls in some of the pictures and that my fat jeans were tight when I wore them yesterday.

I've not forgotten my sb.com friends mini-album and will be getting back to that soon. This circle journal album article got me thinking, dangerous, I know.

What about doing a circle journal in a different way? We each do a page or two-pager in 8x8 format. We make several copies and send them to everyone else that's participating. It will be a BOM type of page, listing our top favorite thing, top dislikes, other hobbies, etc. This way each participant will have pages of everyone else.

Anyone interested?

I'd go for it. Never done one before, so you'd have to explain.

Normally a circle journal is one album that's sent around to the people in the group and each adds to it. This would make a great present for someone's special day/event.

For this one, we're all creating how ever many copies of the same page or two-pager. A layout about ourselves. No real rules or guidelines but I suggest a current photo, top likes and dislikes, pix of some unusual thing, etc. Then you PM or get PMed by others in the group with their address for you to sent your layout to and you give them your address for them to send their pages to you.

So who is organizing this so we know how many copies to make and who else is in it?

I'm just getting the ball rolling. It's up to everyone to PM each other with their addresses and requests for the other person's address. I suggest titling the PM "Circle Journal" in order to find addresses later. I do recommend not doing a mass PM. Do single one-on-one PM as some people may not want to share their addresses with everyone else on the PM.

I also suggest anyone who wants to do this to do this Circle Journal to say so on thread at least. Otherwise I won't be PMing them with my addy and request. But they can PM me and/or others directly, too. So this can go alot of ways.

Since no one person is collecting everything, less problems with flakers. And those of us who are slow to get to the post office.

Well since Sears owns KMart now would they carry the things Kmart did?

Very doubtful. Their children's clothes are EXPENSIVE now (think $40-60 for a little girl's cotton sundress) and they carry the entire line of Craftsman tools, which KMart never carried. Our Sears Grand is nothing more than a Sears store with an Internet Cafe in it. No resemblance to KMart whatsoever.

So sorry.

I PMed Liz/Moxie with the info for the Circle Journal. For my own records, I blogged it:

http://www.scrapbook.com/blogs/45338/view/1085 87.html

This way when I've got my pages done, I can make one trip to the Post Office.

But not everyone's list may look the same as mine. This Circle Journal is free flowing and personalized to each person. At least that's the intent. So having a list on this thread may not be appropriate.

By stating on this thread you want to do this, will allow others the chance to PM you with their requests & addies. And if you're doing this, you can PM others.

It doesn't have to be for only VCWers.

Now off to play some more with Blake.

Good morning! I've got to run out today. Need to get my MIL a card and send her some money. We have been trying to help her out since my FIL died in Dec.. I always send a special card to let her know we are thinking about her. Of course, we talk on the phone, but she seems to like the cards. I'm going to get a St. Patty's day card. It would have been their 44th anniversary. It is going to be really hard for her that day. Anyway, need to check out my lo one last time, take a shower, and zoom, zoom, zoom.

Why not make her a card? If you have heart punches, these are great for making a shamrock.

That's very thoughtful of you. You're a wonderful daughter-in-law/love.

It's raining and icky, here. DD is training a friend about horses over at my MIL's. I hope they're wearing rain gear. They are gonna be such messes!

I've been trying to clean my kitchen floor all week long but have found other distractions. I even cleaned under my fridge last week! I really need new floors. This floor is over 10 years old and been abused. I'm letting an area soak before I clean it some more. I like to every so often get down on my hands and knees and scrub. That's what I've put off. I've been Swiffering it regularly but it really doesn't get deep enough to get the stuff in the crevices.

Blake is having a blast with all my marbles. I gave him a cleaned clear 2 liter soda bottle to fill with the marbles and some other things.

I have Blake with me in my room now. He's enjoy the Playdough. Anything he doesn't like he'll call "poo poo." He pushed his finger into the Moon Sand "Ooh! Poo poo!! Yuck!" So I put it away.

It's quiet here.

I got the worst of my kitchen floor cleaned. I'll have to drive up to the end of the road at 11 to wait for Bradley's school bus. I'll have Blake in the car with me. I'll let him drive. Not leaving our property or going fast.

I'm feeling and there's no one to back at me.

I am working on cleaning and laundry. I am irritable as can be this morning. Don't know what my deal is... ugg... I hate that feeling. Everything is annoying me (ok not comments on threads....more like school and job searches and messy stuff and my dog wanting to be near me ...which I normally love how he follows me around).

I do plan on making some for her in the future. I want this card to be special because it's going to be hard on her. I don't think I'm all that wonderful, I just know how devastated I would be without my husband. They loved each other the way my husband and I do. Half of her is gone. Well, enough of that, it's making me teary eyed. Time for me get out and take care of business.

Sounds like your having fun with your grandson. I can't wait till I have one to spoil.

See ya soon!

Mornin' everyone!!

Hopefully I'll get to catch up a bit and chat today. It should be a slower day here at work...bosses are out! Yippee! (Love 'em to death, but you're always happy when the boss is gone!) I do have the best bosses ever though.

So...my plan is to just hang out...maybe catch up on some personal stuff. I do have to do a couple of errands here in a minute, but that should be it.

We're supposed to get snow this evening and tomorrow...up to 6 inches. It was in the mid 50s yesterday. Ick! We've had some nice days lately and I'm ready for spring. NOT more snow!

I'm back from my errands!

The store didn't have the pp I ruined earlier in the week, so now I have to text my husband directions to the store I went to last Sunday and bought it from, since it's on his way home and I don't think three sheets of paper is worth a 35 mile round trip and $2 in tolls. He even knows which kind to get because I took a pic of the scraps and sent it to his phone.

I need to put the groceries away and get some other in house chores done. I'll be in and out periodically if people want to chat.

Hmmm...it looks like the sun is trying to pop out here a bit and it has stopped raining for now. I think I will run out and do my errands now before it starts back. We're under a winter weather advisory starting at 6pm-tomorrow.

Just got some sad family news.
Housing market claims another victim. And they have a daughter with a baby on the way.

Are they losing thier home? I don't understand...

Ugg... I hate the housing stuff right now. I am soo sick of looking for a place to live. I can stay here until the semester is over and I am seriously considering moving back in with my parents for a while after I graduate. I would probably agree to do most of the cleaning, grocery shopping, and cooking in exchange for free rent and not having to pay as much for groceries too.

Had to tend to Blake. He started fussing and crying that he wanted his mother. Kinda odd for him to do that after a couple of hours. He's not even done that right after she leaves for some time now.

Then I had to drive us to the end of the driveway (it's raining) to wait for Bradley to get home. While waiting, dd came home with her friend. Then the bus came. Both boys are now home with their mother. I'll let her feed and put them down for their naps. Then I'll play with them again.

Got my kitchen floor about as white as they'll ever be. Good thing I'm not cooking tonight. It will stay that way at least until tomorrow.

Thanks for the hugs.

Oh and I am soo bad about mopping. I sweep often because my dog sheds like CRAZY. Mopping is a pain though. I am rather fond of saltillo (sp?) tile because dirt doesn't show as well. I figure dirt and stuff on the ground is not that harmful. I mean it is on the ground outside...

I'd rather sweep or mop than vacuum. Something about the noise. Fortunately I have a somewhat quiet vacuum that makes it easier for me to use.

I love the Swiffer and Swiffer WetJet. I even have a short handled one that I let the boys use. I prefer Swiffering to sweeping. It gets all the cat and human hairs much better.

Dh just reminded me to put the play dough up before it dries out. BRB

My moodiness seems to be lifting a bit. That is good... I think I am just having issues with being home too much lately. I still don't have a job, my friends seem uber busy, and most of my classes are online. So sick of being inside. I need to get myself out more and start the working out again (that helps both in getting out and the activity seems to help me feel much better).

Vacuuming is one of my favorite chores! I don't mind the noise at all as long as the thing works! I love that it is not wet and icky and you see a difference right away. You don't have to wait on it like laundry either. I dunno... I kind of like vacuuming. I didn't have one in my apartment though (no carpet so not needed).

It has been so snowy this winter, getting out is easier said than done. I don't ski (would love to learn, but don't have the money right now). I have gone for walks in it, but can't really hike too much in it. I don't have money for snow shoes either. It is finally melting enough it is not as bad though...yay, I am looking forward to it all melting off. There were several months there where even cycling on the roads would be impossible due to ice and stuff.
River trips would be sweeeeeet right now, but I don't have money to do my own trip. Just worked as a guide and took the companies boats down. I don't work as a guide anymore though...

Yes, it's their family.
Her dad has not found a job yet. He was flipping houses and that market is what has gotten them into trouble, because none are selling or selling fast enough. They have to declare the big B. Because they have only been in their home 3 years, it is included in it. And they have to be out by June.
She has the most incredible home too.

Our neighborhood is in airport flight path, so we hear things all the time. Plus our church is in the flight path of Gateway, so we hear it there too.

Oh I am sooo sorry! I will be prayiing for them.

I am a bit worried about my sis right now too. BIL just finished his master's in divinity, but is not working for a church yet. He has worked as a youth pastor for quite a while, but quit while finishing his degree and has yet to find a job. My sis is a realtor. She was doing great, but with the housing market stuff is soo tight now. A huge part of their problem is they were doing so well that they kept buying stuff (2 new cars, a motorcyle, bigger house, cruises and what not). Now she she is struggling and I worry they won't be able to keep up the payments on some of it. I don't mean it to sound bad on her becuase I am sure I would have done similarly. I think I am learning if I am ever in that financial situation though, go for a smaller house and live below means until I can pay stuff off. Then when it is paid off, buy more fun stuff. Just because you can't gaurantee in the future you will be able to make those payments.

I would imagine your BIL has considered all options, but has he looked at anything like renting the home (s) instead of filing for B. Even if he could just get the mortgage payment out of them and not make a profit...

I wish some of the places here would rent like that. There are homes forclosing and I might be able to cover rent, but I can't get financed to buy. I would pay rent though... Most people try to jack up the rent to way past the mortgage though...

Yeah, I know that feeling. My parents live right off of a small airport (literally off of it). So I got so used to the sound of early mornings being the planes taking off and landing.

I hear planes here too, but not many jets.

I bought a new blade and cap set for my silhouette yesterday. I'm going to give my old blade to John and see if he can sharpen it for me. Worst case scenario, he can't and I still have a new blade. If he can, it means two blades.

I can't even imagine how my sister gets through all this without her faith. One thing after another.
Yea, Rio, my sister spends money like that too.
Her hubby left the military about a year ago, and they promptly bought quads.
They lose those as well.

Mind you, I am getting this info from my mom. So its only as accurate as that.
She said they saw a bankruptcy attorney. They did not want to attach the home, but because they have only been in it 3 years and have a second as well as a first...well....it has to be part of it.
Their 2 vehicles are not part of it.
My parents co-signed a loan for them, so now it falls back on them.

Oh... I am sorry to hear that for your parents too.

My parents have offered to cosign stuff here and that worries me a bit. I am seriously considering going back to their place though when the semester is over. I have soo much stuff to fit in there home though. They have a decent sized home, but they own a ton too. I was thinking about it though and I can rent a storage unit for much much cheaper than an apartment. So I could put stuff I don't use as often and don't want to get rid of in that. Then I thought more about it and they have a huge yard so I could just buy a cheap storage shed (it wouldn't be that much more than storage for a year) and it could live in their yard. THey have wanted a storage shed for a while so they could keep it after I moved out and the shed would be much cheaper than rent somewhere.

I'm back from my errands...just in time too. It has started raining again. That usually doesn't happen. I usually get out and that is when it rains again. I can't believe it is almost lunch time...just 20 more minutes. This morninig has flown by.

Dawn...I'm so sorry about their house. That is awful! I wish the housing market would go back up. I'm going to real estate school in a couple of months. I'm hoping it will pick back up by the time I get through the class and get my license, etc., etc. I'm taking night classes so it will take longer because I have to have 90 hours total. I could take it in a couple of weeks, but don't wanna miss work that much.

So sorry.

It's all right. I haven't been to Sears yet, I will more than likely not get to go check it out until next week. I have some last-minute stuff to do today for Lizzie's party tomorrow, and tomorrow morning we're taking out around 9am and Lizzie and I are getting our "hairs" trimmed, picking up her cake at Target, and picking up her "balloonies" and "shrimpies" at Hy-Vee.

For what you get vs. price, which is better? Wishblade or Cricut?

I really don't know much about the Wishblade , but it seems to be able to be connected to the computer. I've also heard you can get free fonts and stuff and you do not have to have everything on a cartridge. Again, I really do not know much about either.

What is everyone's opinions? I would like to purchase something like one of these soon, but am not sure which to go with.

OH, man, me too. I thought I had my mind set on the Cricut Expression, and had even bid on a couple off evilbay. Then a certain somebody who shall remain nameless offered me her second NIB Wishblade . It's the older one, but all the new software works with it. I've seen demos of the Cricut on TV and on YouTube. I think if I saw a demo of the Wishblade that would help in my decision-making. I'll have to go to YouTube and look later.

Hmmm...good idea. I would like to see a demo of the Wishblade myself. I really do not know much about it. I had to drag myself out of the store the other day...they had a Cricut Expression for $289 or a regular Cricut for something like $185. I think I might even be happy with just the regular Cricut and not the Expression, just because I don't know how much I would really use it. It seems that lately I do not get enough time to scrap!

Okay...Just read that the regular Cricut could cut a border 11.5" long. I would really like the newer one then because you could cut a 12" border. I usually scrap 12x12.
