What is this thread about?

Well, things get quiet here on the weekends, so a thread was started to just hang out and do a virtual crop. Since then it's grown into more. Several people are now "regular" including myself. We chat about anything and everything. (Warning: Sometimes we stray into areas that may be considered "adult," although we always try to be tasteful about it.) We share our latest layouts, pictures, whatever interests us. We have fun and encourage each other.

It's now all week long, too. Since it is a new thread each week, it's easier for anyone to join. Even though we start over each week, it's STILL pages and pages long. Don't be intimidated, we are happy to have anyone drop by and say hello. Some of us read all the replies and keep up, but it is not required. Warning: It can get addictive!

Circle Journal Information:
I suggest 8x8 format because it's easy to do and will fit into a standard mailer.

It's everyone's choice to do either a single or a two page spread and to add whatever you want. Vivian, personally, would like to see a current photo, likes and dislikes on whatever, and something unusual about each person. Like for Liz/Moxie to show her extensive Stickles collection.

To keep things simple, do the same layout for everyone. You could change papers and such depending on your stash but keeping to the same design will make things much easier/faster and no one gets a better page from you than the next person. If someone is short on funds/time to make copies, digitals are acceptable. Even digital copies can be doctored up (read that as blinged) to make a hybrid layout.

PM those you want page(s) from and you'll be getting PMs from others in the Circle. Just let it be known you're interesting in doing this in the thread. This isn't just for VCWer, so if you want to add other people, go ahead. It's your album.

Please leave updates about yourself HERE . This is for those who can't be online as much as they would like to be.

Most of us also really love bling and encourage bling usage!

Come visit OUR GALLERY to meet some of the irregular regulars!

There are several of us who are dealing with weight/health issues, too, so we've started a HEALTHY CHALLENGE as a way to have support and accountability for whatever your goals may be.

So come on! Don't be bashful! And don't be afraid of the fact that this thread MOVES. Just jump in wherever we are, and we'll be glad to get you caught up on what's happening. We never know what we're going to talk about or how silly we will get.

WARNING: Reading of, or participation in, this thread could result in food or drink being sprayed across your computer.
Please practice proper food safety; eat and drink responsibly.

well, here's to today being a better day than the last two...although it is rainy and icky today, and our cable internet appears to be down for the second time this week, but since this is the first time in over a year I can remember, I guess I can't complain too much.

so I am on my work computer, cause it has a dial up card

So Liz, is it a full day of cleaning and crop prep for you? Or a dealing with Abby and driving to Peabody day?

Both. I get to run around like a chicken while she's in school, go pick her up from school and either wait until my mother drives to pick her up or meet halfway or bring Abby to Mom's office. Dropping Abby off at my mother's house at 3 when her husband is home is too inconvenient for John.

Boo hoo...let him go then and be out of your hair. You know if you ask him to change his plans to help you, it will end up messing up your day.
And if he hangs around the house, then put him to work...bet he leaves then!

Works on my boys.

was looking forward to a weekend with nothing to do, but hubby was on the phone last night with our friends. They are coming down to stay at their camper and get it opened up and ready to go. And he told them we would stop down and he would bring his chain saw and start cutting up some of the wood he drove down a couple months ago.
THAT will turn into 3/4 of a day, I'm sure. Probably the whole weekend, because once he's down there, he'll get the fever to work on the pontoon boat.

I was talking to Mom before the crop last night, and she asked if 3 was ok. I asked John and he said no, so I went back in my room, finished talking to mom and then did the rest of my usual pre-crop last minute stuff. In the middle of the crop he texted my phone to ask what the plan was. What do you mean, what the plan was? You said that 3 was inconvenient for you, I told my mother that, you're now well out of doing anything.

He does have a valid excuse for not being at work this morning (beyond the one I'll post the story of later). His dad's estate is finally done with probate, so he's going to the lawyer's this morning to finish up some paperwork and arrangements. Then he'll come back and be in my way while he packs his gear (which he didn't do last night) for the game, reducing any amount of cleaning time for the rest of the house than I may need.

In an attempt to redeem himself, he has volunteered to drop Abby at school...

Can you clean the area where he will be while he's gone this morning, and then work in your room or the kitchen while he is packing?

I plan on getting as much of the rest of the house finished while he's out. While he's home I will work on my room or finish putting page kits together. I'll run my errands when I pick Abby up from school and then figure out what to do about getting her to my mother later.

I really want to try to clean this weekend, and then scrap. I wanted to finish cleaning the carpet in the living room. Of coarse I now need to reclean the hallway. Dog was home for 3 1/2 hours with 3 kids yesterday. He pulled stuff out of the kitchen trash and tore it up all over the living room, WHILE my daughter was cooking dinner! He got into a trash bag up in my bedroom and tore it up allll over the bedroom. And apparently he peed in the hall, not once, but twice. Although the kids say they had him outside 3 times. Yeah, right.

Or at least there were two big wetspots in the hallway that no one can attribute to anything else!

One thing about chatting on my work computer is that I can easily switch back and forth and I have already checked my emails and answered them and done some paperwork.

I have things I need to do today and a couple of patients I need to see. I hate to leave Chief locked up all day, but it doesnt happen often.

I also need to go get dog food today, but luckily Petsmart is right next door to my office.

okay, I need tea, lots of tea...and I need a shower and break into my kids face washes I guess. Either the stress of this week or something else is wreaking havoc with my face! All broken out.

Hopefully all of my equipment orders came in and I can get everything done I need to. Hopefully.

Ok...so much for sleep. I am not sleepy. So I am packing...and plan to head down to the valley later today. I will head out pretty early though so that I get down there before the sleepies hit.

I must look rediculous. While packing...I found a pair of toe socks (the socks with one spot for all the little piggies and one spot for the big toe). Decided my feet were cold and for the heck of it I would put them on. Ok...I like the idea of toe socks (I am wierd like that), but these are fugly. Part of why I put them on is I figured they were a good set to get dirty... because when the last load to to Phx is getting packed I want some of my nonessentials...major nonessentials around. They might not make it if no room... The stuff being packed early right now is a combo of I don't need at this moment, and I really want down there.

So I am wearing fugly toe socks, but to make matters worse...upon putting them on I found one has a hole in the toe. So one foot just has my big toe sticking out. Hahahah...they might be great for a halloween costume, but I think they will not be making the move after all.

Have decided to make John his favorite cookies. I'm still annoyed with him, but I also realized that tomorrow is his Dad's birthday, and I think that he will benefit more from an expression of love rather than a kick in the patoot.

Oh ok...landline makes sense in that setting. Do you give them an option to get a land line though?

I personally have never had a landline as an adult. I probably never will either. Just seems kind of useless. I am actually surprised my parents keep theirs.

Main reason for keeping a landline - it'll still work even if there's a major power outage that affects cell towers.

Should make sure that the landline phone does not require electricity. If electric is out - then you will still have a form of communication.

Additionally not all 9-1-1 services are enhanced to pick up geographical location of cell phone calls - so if calling in an emergency and your communication is cut off - they don't know where you are. Even with the enhanced geo systems, they can have problems with picking up signals from closely located towers.

Landlines they do know at least where the call was made from. (the emergency isn't always located at the same place as where the call is placed).

Laid down, even tho' I heard the baby awake and playing in his room as I went. I thought I'd just rest until he started yelling to get up.

Hadn't been asleep more than 5 minutes when my cell phone buzzed. DD was out at the time, so I thought it was probably her calling to say she was on the way home. Answered it.

It was my dad.

First time we had talked on the phone since the Blow-up/Meltdown last June.

We talked, which was good. And he called first, which shocked me to no end. But we didn't really get things resolved. Everything I tried to say, he took the worst way possible, and everything he tried to say hit me the worst way possible.

Was so exhausted and down and on the verge of weepy about that through supper. Then was giving DGS his bath for the night when my sweet little brother called. He had talked to Dad and was now calling to hear my side of it.

He & I talked for an hour or more. I really think he's in the wrong line of work (managing an assembly line at a OTC meds packing plant). He should've gone into either diplomacy or counseling. He's very good at listening, seeing both sides, and trying to find something in the middle that everyone can at least agree on.

When I finished talking to him, I was sooooo tired. Figured it was about time to break into the bottle of wine that's been around here forever - only to find that hubby finished it off sometime in the last day or so. (And when I went to check the trash, I found TWO empty bottles, which means he got one of his own and didn't even tell me about it.)

So I'm here. I'm catching up slowly. I'm going to go raid the kitchen and get the choc chip cookie dough and a cup of coffee. Anyone need anything while I'm there?

This is good. First steps! Hoping for further healing in your relationship!

If I can squeeze in a haircut before I pick up the kids, that'll be great. Need to pick up mammo and u/s for my Mayo visit, but I forgot where I did them Have to call my gyn about it... ! Poor memories!

accomplished two things so far that I've been putting off.

the cookies are cooling. I hate the smell of them (peanut butter) so I will be airing out the house later. Love peanut butter, but hate the smell of peanut butter cookies.

ok, back to work...

I'm about to head out and have a girl's day of "shopping-it" and lunch...then to come back and hopefully scrap. I have so much to do and so little time to do it in. I will be in and out most of the afternoon and back to stay after dinner.

Part of my circle journal page.
I plan to have a picture of me, a picture of one of my avatars, and an usual picture of something I'm obsessed with. Then of course journaling about my likes and dislikes and maybe some more journaling just about me.

Hi Barbra.

I'm pretty much in and out today. Doing dishes and laundry. We got our new dishwasher on Wednesday and it finally got installed yesterday. I'm debating cleaning the kitchen but I might do that tomorrow after we get back from a birthday party.

I'm going to be in and out as well. Need to scrap, but later, ds wants to go see his girlfriend. So I have to drive him there, come home and pick him up later. I also have a couple of movies I want to watch.

Today I found out my sister got a call yesterday, for a job with benefits. I'm happy for her because I know she needs the benefits, but it's back to working Mon-Fri for me, except this Mon. My mom is going to Myrtle Beach tonight, so I do get a three day weekend.

Maybe your mom needs to find another person to help, that way you are not so beat up. That is such physical work, and I worry this is too much for you.

taking a quick break before I buckle down again.

Mom should be leaving in about an hour or so to come and pick up Abby. I think once they leave, I'm heading out to finish errands (fill gas tank, get lightbulbs for scraproom, buy bread) and pick up dinner.

To stay on schedule, I should finish 6 layouts today. I'll either do them or tack them on to what I finish tomorrow.

Yeah, I think she is starting to worry about it too. I guess we'll have to play it by ear and see how I do. We only did one house today and I seriously feel like a nap, but I have to take my son out in awhile.

In fact I think I might have some iced coffee tonight! Instead of tea. Hmmm, maybe tea. Maybe some hot tea - it's cold and rainy out!

Go ahead and mock the under-caffeinated. You will be dealt with someday, for you will desperately need caffeine and all that will be available to you is partially-decaffeinated at best! mwahahahahahaha!

My dad just called and at the end of the conversation said I guess we'll see you at the party. I know nothing of a party so I say "What party" here my sister is having a sweet 16 party (This I did know) for her partner's daughter. We were not invited I guess. Dad said "weren't you invited" said "guess not", so he's going to call my sister. I don't want to go to a party that I'm not welcomed at you know.

Sorry, I was thrown by the rolling laughing smiley.

I have a connected problem where for some reason I manage to put my mug down across whatever room I'm sitting in. Right now, my coffee is on the other side of the crop table, totally unreachable unless I get up and walk to it.

Don't know. With my sister it's possible (I'm sure that'll be her excuse anyway) but most likely they had to many people and just decided to leave my family off.

I tend to do something similar. I put it down as I am hurrying about tending to too many things, then I turn and can't remember where it left my side!! I end up retracing my steps and find the mug! But often only after getting distracted by other things to be done as I retrace the steps!! By the time I meet up with it again, the coffee is cold!

That's why I switched to room temp coffee. I don't have to worry about the ice melting and it getting warm or having it get too cold.

hmmm. Just remembered I haven't taken a picture yet of me for the Circle Journal or of my picture for something unusual (You guys will not believe it when you see it).

picture of something unusual? What is that for?

Part of my circle journal page.
I plan to have a picture of me, a picture of one of my avatars, and an usual picture of something I'm obsessed with. Then of course journaling about my likes and dislikes and maybe some more journaling just about me.

That sounds like a great page idea!

I remember toe socks. Had a few pairs myself.

Hope your trip goes well.

I once forgot to invite my mother. I'd been talking to her about details for the party and every thing. Not once did she mention to me that I didn't really invite her in any way. Oops. My sister told me. So I called her right away and apologized for it. I just thought I had invited her already.

Liz, you and I can stay home and have our OWN party this weekend.

After yesterday's phone call with my dad, I sent an email last night telling him I appreciated the fact that he called first (editorial comment: a miracle in itself!) and made the effort, even if we didn't get anything resolved.

He responded today and the first thing he said was, "I think you and your family should go to the dedication this weekend." After that, he proposed that afterward he & I could go somewhere for lunch, just the two of us, and talk things out.

Ummmm..... Hmmmm.....

Dear Dad,

I quit caring what you think a long time ago. It no longer has any bearing on my life. But thanks for your input.

I don't think this weekend is good.

It should be Rusty & Bethany - and Cassie & Kynlee's - weekend. Not a time for diplomatic talks. That probably should happen some other time when it won't take away from anything else.

Since you and I seem to have a habit of reading the worst possible meaning into what each other says, it'd probably be good to have someone else there, too. Someone who is more objective and can hear what's being said and make sure we both hear it, too. Rusty seems to be doing a good job of it so far. But I wouldn't want to pull him away from the dedication festivities.

Since this concerns Kim...even if she wasn't directly involved, it does concern her...she wants to be there, too, so she can hear things directly. If this happened this weekend, that would tie up both me and her, and Ethan will only stand for that so long before he starts becoming a problem.

So I don't think this weekend would be good. The next time you're up this way, let me know and we'll see what can be worked out.

(That's copied-and-pasted verbatim, btw, EXCEPT for the very first paragraph. That's the part that I wanted to say, but didn't.)

So...Liz...when does the party start?

I've got to scrap tomorrow. I am first up on the round robin. It's been awhile since I went after someone else. Oh well, need to think of something original. Of course, I tend to do lo's with a big circle. I'm going to have to be different(putting thinking cap on). HMMM.

Jenni, the party can start tomorrow night. I still have this paper to write tonight (since last night was date night and I refuse to miss that with Brian, though our last one was the night we got the phone call about his dad).

A big hexagon?
A big triangle?

A big triangle...the points representing you, your family, and Jesus, and then journaling about how each works to hold the other two together.

(Okay, so maybe it's a stinky idea, but at least it's one stinky idea you don't have to spend time thinking of and discarding.)

I don't blame ya there.
My friend Mellisa is constantly trying to invite me along to places she was invited to, but I was not. I won't do that. If the person organizing the event doesn't invite me, I won't go. I think it's "poor form" to show up somewhere you are not invited.

Party some for me. I'll be working Sunday, anyway. Tomorrow I'm going to try and not be here, even though I'll be scrapping at home with Melanie.

I just got off the phone tying up last minute details with the charity crop coordinator. I just found out that she's going to have some teenagers there to help with heavy stuff! Yea! I won't have to drag everything in by myself, even with my pretty new luggage cart.

Here's how stupid John's company is.

I'm not sure when, but ages ago, this toopid young guy was driving warehouse equipment, didn't pay attention and ran into John, who was standing in the yellow painted safe area/no equipment allowed zone. Guy got in trouble and had to take a "whiz quiz" to see if he was just stupid or if mind altering substances were involved. I think toopid guy lost a raise because of it. Toopid guy now blames John for all things.

Tuesday, John was hauling cardboard to the compactor when Toopid Guy intentionally moved the equipment he was driving to block John's way. Wouldn't let John pass. (This was not the first time it happened, either) John mouthed off to him a little: "I can stand here all day, I'm done with my work, it's your rate sheet that's gonna suffer. Oh yeah, it's not, cause you lie about how hard you work." Toopid Guy responded that he was gonna come down there and kick John's tush. That was the point where John left the cardboard and called HR to file a complaint.

HR interviewed John, Toopid Guy and the one witness and concluded that while Toopid Guy opened his yap and actually threatened John, since "he probably didn't mean it" they were gonna just dismiss the whole thing. That torked John off, because if he were not 6'2", kinda burly and an ex-Marine or if John had made the threat, they would've taken it seriously. HR finally sent Toopid Guy home after John informed them that if they did not take it seriously and do something to stop this, not only would John refuse to work in the same department as Toopid Guy, but John had no problem going to the cops and the county courthouse and applying for an order of protection against Toopid Guy and watching the police cart Toopid Guy off for breaking the order since Toopid Guy is toopid enough to think himself above the law.

I don't know what else came of this, but John's HR department is, well, toopid.

The stupid party is tonight and I'm suppose to stupid go. She says I knew about it which is just a lie, but of course I look like I'm the bad guy and forgot about it and she's the innocent one and she told me. Some days I can't stand my family. BBL

waiting on hubby to get home, our "date" night...a burger and a beer somewhere...then he'll come home and start working on the boat until he's tired, then come in and fall asleep in the chair. but the last couple times we've gone out we've taken a kid and he said we could not do that this week. I really want to do some cleaning here, but I REALLY want to scrap this weekend and I am going to, one way or another

have a good time!
