The Acrylic Mini-Album workshop I went to used combo acrylic & chipboard pgs. The LSS owner who did WS said it doesn't make sense to cover acrylic pg up totally w/ paper/pics. I saw her point. Also, CB keeps costs down when use/cut your own. The acrylic pgs have mostly rub-ons, cute frames (that frame pic on next & before acrylic pg) & back to back (like buttons) or see from both sides type bellies.
I highly recommend doing one--THEY ARE SOOOOOO MUCH FUN TO DO!! If doing for a present, can make a CB pocket pg to hold CD of songs.
I just started working on mine officially yesterday. For one page I used some red KI Lace paper that I dry brushed with black which looks so cool. I did it on the back (which is white) and so it shows up on the opposite page and looks awesome. I also used some bubble wrap to stamp with gold paint on another page and I am loving how they're turning out! I can't wait to work on it some more!
i have done quite a few mini books, some hanging decor, and incorporated acrylic pages within regular albums. the issue i have with acrylic is that it can get very heavy, and i don't particularly like handling them - something about the weight and plastic-ness just doesn't feel like a scrapbook. don't get me wrong, i think they look awesome, but just not all the time. i don't use acrylic for long term family albums or momentos.
