Welcome to July! It's time for another fun month of AGC!! We will have daily challenges, weekly challenges, weekly photo challenges and a monthly challenge.

Here is the link to the June AGC if you would like to see what its all about and get some kind of idea on the points list...

Only pages that are completed and uploaded on or after July 1 count towards your total points and layouts.

If you are playing for points/prizes please send me $8.00 via USPS no later than July 15th. Please mail to Jessica Chaney, 6749 Barnes Drive West, Theodore, AL 36582.

Or you can pay via PayPal by sending money to [email protected] . If you choose to pay this way, you must pay $8.55 to cover paypal fees.

PRIZES: Gift certificates to sb.com !

**Prize Categories**

1 - Most points overall - no matter what your goal was or how many layouts you complete, if you have the most points at the end of the month, then you win this category...

2 - Most points 10 or less layouts - if you set your goal for 10 or less layouts and complete 10 or less layouts for the month, then you are eligible for this category - if you complete more than your goal of 10 (or less) then congrats to you, but that moves you to the other categories...

3 - Person who sets the highest goal (AND meets that goal) - we all like to be challenged to get layouts completed every month - if you set the highest goal, and meet or exceed your goal, then you win this category...

4 - Random drawing of everyone who meets their goal - very simple, meet your goal and I will put all names into a hat at the end of the month and draw

***** You will only be eligible for prizes having met your LO goal. You can only win in one of the first three categories, but everyone has a fair chance for the random drawing.*****

Count your layout according to the following list:

*8x8 or above= 1 layout (2 pagers count as 2 layouts)
*2 6x6 = 1 layout
*4 mini layouts (3x3, 4x4 etc.)= 1 layout

***Cards do not count toward your layout goal, but you can count points for them***

I know some of you like to alter items, and you make things other than layouts and cards, so you can count them as "layouts" based on the amount of work in them. If you aren't sure how many to count, just ask!

**A note for people who'd like to play for prizes, but not keep track of points; as long as you link/post your layouts to the thread, you can still be eligible for the other categories of prizes!**

It's very easy, Sarah! Just post what your layout goal to be (how many layouts you want to challenge yourself with), anything particular you would like to earn points for...

There is a link to the June challenge in the first post... it helped some last month figure it out before the points list was posted!

I'm in again Jess. I'll set my goal at 20 for July (30 has been tough this month, plus we're going away next month)

I would like to see points for felt - I bought so much to use and have barely used any of it.

Challenge ideas - use a sketch, scrap pictures more than 1 year old, that's all I can think of right now.

Picture ideas - fireworks, something red, white & blue, something that symbolizes freedom.

This is really going to test my maths and my brain, you will have to slowly talk me through everything. Have sent money.

I'm going to aim at 20, that will be the most I've ever done so that is a real challenge for me, anymore than that and I'll end up neglecting my children.

I don't really understnd the what i'd like to get points for, Is that for me specifically or suggestions for everyone? Anyway: Stickers, gems, no pp and maybe eyelets

Will have to think about ideas - we don't have any fireworks this time of year though.

Happy Anniversary, Julie!

Jess, I had another suggestion. At one time there was a layout poll prize category. I was wondering if we might want to add back another category since there were so many ppl are playing now...maybe set up a system to add 1 new prize category per 5 players or something like that? Or make the top 4 be a specific amount and then have additional $10 prizes somehow?

Like here is an example of what I was thinking maybe, if there were 24 players = $192

4 x $40 for main listed prizes = $160
2 x $15 for secondary/bonus prizes (like layout poll, and maybe something else)= $190.

or even having the main prizes be $30-$35 and then a bunch of other prizes

Does that make sense?

Just a suggestion to try and allow more winners and $30-$40 is still a pretty good main prize I think

I hear ya on that one. Actually, my child still takes naps so I don't neglect him, but I certainly neglect my house b/c I get no chores done during naptime I just scrap away! lol.

A motivational player plays along just for motivation, you don't pay the $$ and therefore aren't eligible for prizes, but you get to play along with the challenges just for fun

Hello!!

I will really like to be in again. I only get to participate in this challenge like two months a year, during my vacation time; and this is one of them!!

I haven't scrapped in what feels like ages, but I really want to try and get caught up in my albums.

I will go for a 15 layouts goal.

I will like points for:

1.using felt (it always gives me a hard time)
2. Digitally altering your picture.
3. Following a particular sketch
4. Using old pp
5. Incorporating non sc materials into your layout
6. Creating your own embellies.

Also, I'm seeing lots of people mentioning patriotic themes since July is your Independence month, but I'm not from the States, and our Independence Day is not until September; so it would be nice to give us (or is it just me) other opportunities as well.

Can't wait to get started!!!

I'm going to go and take the dust out of my supplies lol!!

I want in again! I absolutely LOVED this. I still have to get my last layout in for June!

My goal for this month will be 15.

Photo ideas: your favorite jammies, your main mode of transportation, what you made/ate for dinner, July calendar, piggy bank (or other money saving item), your scrapbook, your favorite scrap item.

You add them up, Margaretinaz. I keep a notebook and calculator near by. When I'm done with a lay out, I go through my points list and make a list of what I get points for, then add them up, and post on the forum. I was totally confused before I started the June Challenge, but once the points were up, it was EASY!!

So every LO you do, you post the points here or in your LO description?

I've strated alist of all the LOs I going to get done in July. I'm going to get all my pictures printed and everything ready so when July 1st comes, I'll be off

i had this idea since last month and keep reminding myself to pm it to you, Jess, but i always forget! i think we should get points if we use a picture that we took for one of the weekly picture challenges on a LO. i think it would encourage people to take great pics and be more creative with getting the pics so we could use them on our LOs!

Several things:

#1: I scrapped every single time Caeden took a nap! lol. And, since the 22nd or so, I've been at the in-laws so there are plenty of ppl here to help out with Caeden..yay for mommy-break. I usually do NOT get this much done at all!

#2: That's one of the great things about having lots of different categories, b/c you can still have a chance at winning even if you don't have a lot of time to scrap

#3: This is random, but I'm wife to Chad too

I agree with you!!! That would be a great idea!! I remember that when we played back in January Jenn had always take us one "special pic" so we could use different settings in our cameras and improve our photo skills. For example, a macro picture, an action shot, etc.

I think that's a neat idea - I just got a new camera and am still learning to use it to the fullest of it's capabilities. But, I also would understand not doing this for consideration of those that do not have these options on their camera.

haha at wife to Chad.

I have 2 sons and they never sleep at the same time, so I can only scrap when they are in bed.

I like crystals ideas for the prize money. I don't know if we should have a prize for the highest goal set and reached. That kind of means only one person is eligible for that all month. I like the idea of putting a poll back in. I think at one time they did a poll but you had to choose your favorite layout from one of the weekly challenges to put in the poll. That encourages people to do the weekly challenge. Or you could put a name in the hat for each person that completes the weekly challenges and draw so the more challenges you complete the more chances you have of winning. Just a few ideas!

If you go higher than the goal you have set yourself, could you still win for most LOs completed?

I can see your point, Senora_X about the highest goal category. I made that because so many ppl set goals of like 10 layouts and make like 50 layouts, so I thought it would be fun to get us to challenge ourselves. And, it's not always only 1 person eligible, because if the person who sets the highest goal doesn't meet it, then they aren't eligible for any prize at all, and the next highest goal wins for that category. I know that happened at least one month. That's why I made it be sets and meets the highest goal instead of most layouts completed. I definitely see your point though.

We make all these different categories to try and be fair, but it's just hard...Like the Under 10 layouts category, ppl who write like a whole bunch of journaling, like 1000 words or something on a page are guaranteed to win that one because it's such a lot of points in so few layouts...

I think it might be neat to have a category for most challenges completed or something like that, maybe we could each start a blog about it with a list/link to each AGC challenge that we complete (daily, monthly, weekly, etc.)

I also like your idea about a drawing for completing challenges.

My camera is also a point and shoot Kodak Easy Share; but you can take macros pictures and also action shots. Its all about challenging ourselves to improve in our picture - taking.

Hi everyone! I have been away from the computer since about 4pm Friday afternoon... its is now 1am on Sunday morning and I'm pooped!

Welcome to everyone joining us this month, new and returning! I will get everyone added first thing in the morning!

There are some great suggestions here and I will read them more carefully when my eyes aren't burning from hardly any sleep over the weekend...

Ok, a few questions -
If you do a LO for another challenge can you count it here?

I was looking at last months points list and it said you got points for comments, does that mean comments you made or comments that get left on your LOs?

Thanks! I am so excited to play!

I love it, too! I've never gotten this many LOs done in one month. Seeing what everyone has done all month has really inspired me and prompted me to try new things on my LOs. I am hooked!!

I forgot to list my points suggestions in all my other ramblings before:

--maybe 5 points per handcut item instead of a blanket 10 points for using them. B/c it takes time to cut things out by hand.
--I think as far as letters go, that either chipboard letters should count for 5 points as chipboard, or rub-on letters should only count for 1 point each, to make things more consistent.
--Does a stacked or embellished paper flower count as a 3-d flower? I've always been confused about that, if not, I think it should
--Along the same lines as flourishes, I'd like to see points for stars and/or arrows.
--Stickers (3-d or flat)

These are just some things, I'm definitely not expecting them all to get added to the list and I'm fine with whatever you decide to do

Crystal, I like your ideas - and I agree about the rubon letters being added to the 1 pt category - just to be consistent.

I'm in again...I'll get back to you about my goal. For a weekly/monthly challenge I'd like to see us challenged to scrap about ourselves & our relationships. Also, either photo challenge or scrap challenge something from our daily lives. (NOT a holiday or one of the many other "themes" we all scrap.)

It would also be neat to get points for using "new" products since last month we had the challenge to review new products.
