I would like to know:

1. How and where do you store/display your finished albums.

2. Do you have all different albums (colors, styles, brands) or are they all the exact same albums (color, style, brand)?

I know we've touched on this subject before, but now that I have five finished 12x12's and three more 12x12's started and four 8x8's finished, I am thinking of displaying them in my living room instead of my scrap room, but they are all in different albums (all different colors, styles, brands)-- colors that won't go in my living room. I am thinking they would look nice in matching albums and labeled which album they are.

I would very much like to see a photo of how your albums are displayed. Thank you for all your help!

Mine are in my scraproom and living room. No special albums, just mixed up. They are lying down, I know they are supposed to be standing but I don't have a shelf.

Well, I don't have a photo, but I moved my albums to my living room when I needed the shelf space in my scrap room. They're all different colors and I don't care if they match my living room or not. They sit on the top shelf of a bookcase that also houses family games. My hope is that when the kids get older and they're not playing in my living room anymore, I can have a coffee table again and rotate albums on there for myself and others to look through.

Mine are still in my scraproom. I want to get the d ring albums so I will change them at some point so they are all matching.

I use all CM albums. Every year gets it's own color. I have the 12x12s on a shelf in my closet and the 7x7s in a basket that I have on top of my scrap storage space. Depending on who comes over, I put one or two on my coffee table.

I have a mis-match of albums. I buy then when they are on sale. I try to at least get colors that don't clash (too much)

Some are on a bookshelf in our family room, others are in the basement - where my scrap dungeon is.

It's hard to find a shelf that's deep enough to accommodate the 12x12 albums. I have mine in the guest bedroom on a cedar chest (bookends). I've had several people stay over and ask if they could look at my albums. They're all navy blue, but the company I loved doesn't do albums any longer, so I have switched brands and they're a little different. All are 3-ring style.

This would be my luck. Dh says every time I find things that I just love, they discontinue it. It's a little joke now. If I say I love it, he says I'd better get lots of it, because it will be gone tomorrow!

Thank you everyone. Keep them coming. I'm learning a lot. Dh is a wood worker (just no time to do it), but eventually I think I could get him to make me a glass front bookcase to fit the 12x12's and with a top shelf to fit the 8x8's, but where would I put it? Hmmmmm. All ideas are appreciated.

i dont have a pic yet... but mine are in a book shelf (cheapy build it yourself kit) at the top of the stairs. when i "finish" a book i leave it in the family room for a few weeks, then back on the shelf.

i buy different color books for each year and trip. i try to coordinate some. ie: all the books for working on the house are black, all the ones for the wedding are shades of white, the 2 books for 2006 are blue. then the vaca ones i spend more on. our visit to TX is leathery with a belt and buckle; the one for FL is all bright and rainbowy.

good luck with your organizing!

Mine are all different sizes, brands and colors. I really haven't picked a favorite type of album yet. They are stored on the top with bookends of a rolling Sterlite drawer chest.

Mine are still all on one shelf on my scrapbook shelf storage. I need to move them somewhere else though as I need that space to store scrapbook supplies...HEHEHE. I have all different color scrapbooks. No real rhyme or reason as to why I used which color. Just the one on got that specific day.

Mine are all different colors and styles. I have the K & Company Cub Scout one for ds' scout album, and a travel themed one for our DC trip, pastel colored ones for the baby albums, etc. I put them on the book shelf in the living room, and rotate them as coffee table books when I have company coming over, which one I put out is determined by who is coming and what I think would be most interesting to the visitor.

I have always used just CM albums. I have about fifteen of them. I just recently did a post album from CTMH. I'm sure I like the post album. I had a hard time working with it when I was putting it together. I took two people. And, it's a different size.

I keep my albums in a bookcase in my family room. They are all different colors. But, I like that. I did stick to a specific color when I had more than one album for an event. For example, my daughter's wedding or my granddaughter's first year.

My albums are stored on shelves in my scraproom. All of the albums are the same color, style and brand, which were picked to match our home decor . . . yes, I'm picky that way!

1. How and where do you store/display your finished albums.
I have them all in a row on a shelf (easy access) and I also have them all labeled so when I go looking I know exactly where to get it.

2. Do you have all different albums (colors, styles, brands) or are they all the exact same albums (color, style, brand)?

All different kinds. From 12x12's to 5x5's
and they all are a different color, style and brand.

My books are all different. I pick them out for whatever it is I am doing at the time. Example: Husbands is a handmade Dallas Cowboy Album; boys are Scout Albums; Girls are pinks, mint greens and such. I have many albums, all are a work in progress and will not be completed until they are completed! I keep them standing inside an entertainment center wtih doors, to keep the dust out. They are in my scrap room. When company comes over, I pull out the ones that I think would interest them. I personally love looking through all of them.

I keep mine on a shelf in living room. They don't match, though a few are Creative Memories in different colors, so they at least match in size. I don't mind if they match. Everything else in the room doesn't match exactly.

All of my albums are 12x12. I store them in my family room, under the end tables. The tables are two tiered, and the albums fit perfectly standing up. They are all different colors, but you really cannot tell that too much until you start taking them out.

Different brands, different colors... I typically buy when on sale. Normally though I seem to gravitate towards the blacks/browns but then I wanted to get a snapload album and all I could get was blue. *shrug* It's all right.

I keep most of mine in my scraproom. In my living room I have a regular photo albun from my trip to Ireland, an 8.5x11" album that currently just has my DH and his brother's racing pics in it not scrapped, and my 8x8" wedding album.

I haven't displayed my albums at all... the thought never really crossed my mind!!! lol!! But I never think about colors/matchy matchy sizes though. I just try and buy what's on sale!!! I think it would be very, "Becky Higgins" to have it organized as you described.

Mine are all different as well...brands/colors/sizes/style s. I try to buy the album for the "mood". Caribbean vacation=bright fun colors.

I also have mine lying down & stacked on a bookshelf in my living room. I know...I know.

I was storing my albums under the end tables in the living room, but they were kind of hidden there and didn't really have anything holding them up and supporting them. So I cleaned off some bookshelves in our study/computer room and moved them in there. They're a lot more visible in there and more easily accessible for looking at and scanning. Plus the wooden shelves give them more support. They're on the opposite end of the house from my scrap area, but that's okay, I'm always going back and forth anyway.
I use only 12 x 12 D-ring albums. I'm partial to We R Memory Keepers /Hiller and Keeping Memories Alive albums. I have all different colors; I guess it would look nice to have them all one color, but I can't settle on just one (they're all so pretty) and at this point, with 18 albums and counting, it's too late to go back and try to color-coordinate.

I have all 12 X 12's at the moment. Same company (K & Company) different colors and patterns, although I tend to gravitate toward the muted shades. At the moment mine are stored on the top shelf of the hutch on my deck.

I use all the same type of album- 12x12 black cloth D-Ring from American Crafts . I got the idea from Ali Edwards' blog when she was reorganizing all of her layouts. I do all different sizes- 12x12, 8.5x11, 11x8.5, 6x12, 12x6, and sometimes smaller ones like 8x8. All of these will fit in the AC albums.

Right now they're on a bookshelf in the library. In fact, they'll probably always be on a bookshelf in the library, though they may get a shelf of their own some day.

I have about 26 scrap books most of them are 12x12 but i have 2 other sizes, in the middle of my scrap booking career i would only buy a certain kind of album (but never in the same color)

i also do not put all of my albums in one spot
i like to do grouping of them all over the room
some on shelves and some on the table i have some in a basket by the couch.....

i just go with albums that i like!
i think it is cool, down the road to look back and see all of the different styles

i have a friend that only uses one company's albums and she only has navy blue, they are all lined up from year to year( 1996 to current)
it looks like a collection of dictionary's
......so not my thing!!!!

I have all kinds of styles, sizes and brands. I do tend to color coordinate a few of them just to help me find them easier. I put my wedding album in white (it was gift so I didn't pick it - but it works), my Christmas albums in dark green CM, my travel ablums (for the big trips) in black, and my "party" albums in navy.

The ones I haven't given away as gifts to family and friends, are in scraproom on my big bookshelf.

If I were to picking something just so that it would look nice on a shelf, I think I would be partial to the strap hinge albums or nicely constructed post bounds both with the cloth covered spines. The D-rings look OK too but my experience with them is that they sit just a little less nicely on the shelf.

I have only 7--12 X 12 albums. They are mostly brown and black. One is hot pink though, it's a girly theme album. I try to stick to brown and black.
I recently had them on a shlef on my entertainment center, but now they are packed because we are moving, and the entertainment center is going to the dumpster cause we finally bought the wall mount for our tv. So when I move I have no clue where I am going to put my albums. I like to keep them in the living room because everyone that comes over always wants to see what's new that I have scrapped. I am thinking about buying a couple of those 12 x 12 cubes and using them to display the albums.

My mini albums are in a basket in the living room. The large albums are on a custom built shelf in out bedroom. THe only reason the bedroom is because it is nearly 500 sq feet and it has the room for a large piece of furniture!
For the most part the albums are mis-matched, but I really like the AC ones and I have been purchasing them lately!

I bet they look great too! I'm still thinking I want to do this. I would have to buy the albums one or two at a time. I'm so afraid they will be discontinued before I get all I need.

Most album covers are a little larger than 12x12, so measure them before you buy 12 x 12 cubes. The albums may not fit.

Oooooo, you gave me a great idea for now. I have a big, beautiful basket. I think some of my albums will fit in it and I have a place in my living room for my basket. My decor is very rustic country, so the basket will fit right in. THANK YOU! Btw, I love your bookshelf. After our old house remodel, maybe I can get dh to make me one.

Thanks for the tip Kathie. I didn't think of the albums being slightly bigger than the actual layouts. Makes sense. But if the cubes are 12 x 12 then you can do a little over hang with them if they don't have a back to them, the cubes that is. But then again, thinking height wise. OH MY!
Been checking out some new furniture and storage things to get when I move. It's hard to actually buy stuff until you are actually moved in.

I'm in the process of converting all my multi-color Pioneer post bound albums into single color, Pioneer snap load albums. All albums about me are in black; all my sons's albums will be in blue. I just like the clean look of matching albums on a bookshelf. Got the idea from a lady at a crop who had all her CM albums in one color.

I store all my albums on a bookshelf in my living room.

I buy what appeals to me (all different colors) and what's on sale.

My 12x12's are on a shelf in the living room. I have a smaller 8x8 of my grandma on the coffee table and a 6x6 of last grandbaby on the CD/movie shelf unit.
