I was just wondering how many people use rhinestones on their layouts. I was thinking of using them on a layout I'm working on.

I say go for it!

How do you guys usually adhere these to a LO? What are your recomendations? I personally use a glue stick for my LOs but am interested in trying new adhesives.

I love all things bling. I use tons of rhinestones/jewels.

I usually buy the self-adhesive ones. I had some jewels by Queen & Co. that weren't and I just used a small glue dot. You could probably use a liquid glue like KI gloo (dries clear) or Diamond Glaze , but not one like the ZIG Glue pen.

I don't think a glue stick would hold very well.

glue sticks can barely hold paper on after a while, they won't work for rhinestones long term.
I like to use mini Glue Dots , really works well. I also use dots of liquid glue (I like Glossy Accents or Tombo w)to stick them in place.

I would advise you not to use glue sticks at all really. After a few years, the glue turns brittle and things start to just fall apart. My early books (10+ years old) need to be redone where I used glue sticks!

I used gem tac to keep mine on the clear stuff- Glue Dots were too big as the stones were 3mm and the only Glue Dots I could find were larger than that.

I love using rhinestones. I often go to the fabric/jewelry section and buy them in bags. I like different colors, sizes, and shapes and will use them all. If they are large enough, I attach them with mini Glue Dots . Otherwise, KI gloo works really well.

I agree with Amy about the glue sticks. I have not tried them myself, but I've read several reviews saying not to use them for the same reason she outlined. For a general adhesive to put pics to my paper and so forth, I love Tombo . I found a site where I can get it for less than $3 per refill, so I buy in bulk.

Well, when a glue stick is all you have, you have to roll with that.
I will soon be using Dab-N-Seal paper adhesive. It's acid free and it holds better but I'm waiting on that to come in the mail.

I'm more than a little addicted to rhinestones right now... and stickles... I've got a thing for bling I guess...
I usually use mini Glue Dots , but I have it from a good source that my favorite tape runner Kokuyo will work in a pinch too.

I actually just started using them a few weeks ago on a birthday projects for a friend. I had know idea of how to attach them and had an unopened bottle of KI Gloo and tried it out and it worked perfectly. I'm glad to hear that I did it right on my first try. Watch out though they are addictive! I have boys and cant use them as much as I'd like but trust me I'm sticking them everywhere!

Oh man, now I wanna start using them :). I agree with staying away from glue sticks. I made an album 3 years ago using glue sticks because that was all I could afford. Last year I had to completely redo all of the adhesive because it came apart. Glue sticks just don't last.

On the rhinestones that are big enough for a glue dot, that's what I use. The really small ones that I use are the ones you buy that already have adhesive... I got mine from WM. They are really meant to be used to decorate cell phones.

WM has a ton of rhinestones in lil bags. I wish they had brads, that would be great. LOL is anyone as disappointed as I am about the lack of scrapbooking supplies WM has? They have completely done away with all the good stuff.

I refuse to shop at WM (haven't been there in over a year) so it's not a big deal to me. But I've been following some of the threads on here about their decreasing scrappy stuff and think that they'll be losing LOTS of $$ if they do away with it completely!

I worked at WM for 3 years! It wasn't until my last year there when they started making all the changes that I despised going to work every day. It used to be a great place to work, but now it's not even worth going to shop there.
As for now, I am just buying cheap things like the bags of rhinestones and buttons there. Cuz it is a lil cheaper.

WM isn't just getting rid of scrappy goodness, they've been cutting back on all their crafty goodness... Scrapping has overcome a lot of my crafting hobbies, but when you can't even buy embroidery floss there anymore? Ugh!

Oh my! I totally agree! I x-stitch and I hate not being able to get my floss there anymore.

if you dont want to have to deal with adhesive at all.. use the self stick ones. I have some great ones from Me and My Big Ideas .. or use the rhinstone brads. i beleive Making Memories sells some. and I even found some in the dollar section of target and they came with paper flowers. I use rhinestones all the time and i love them! Search bling and there are a ton of self adhesive ones from several companys.

Yes, I've used rinestones and love them. Love the different colors you can get too. What I did notice was that the bigger ones tend to be a little hard on my scrapbook pages though. The pages that are stored opposite the pages with the rinestones sometimes end up damaged/intented from the bulk of the large rinestones. So, I try not to use the big ones anymore.

Love, love love rhinestones. I use them all the time--often for the center of flowers.
I tend to use the self-adhesive ones. A little more expensive, but I don't have a lot of patience.
I also love rhinestone brads. I bouhgt a huge bag of them from Oriental Trading for a couple dollars, and they are super easy and cute.
