Melanie and Nicole -
It is so cool that there are three of us living New York State! We have the "Big Apple" covered (go Met's)which is an awsome place...but very different from the beautiful western part of the state. And your areas are soooooooooooo much different than upstate - the really far upstate - which has wonderful stuff, but different. I can't wait to see what you both do with our beautiful state - we are ALL over it! Toni

*LOL* Yeah, MN pretty much only needs one small layout to cover everything interesting! Sad, really! But HEY, we have the Mall of America!!

I've pushed through the weekend and have almost finished my journal, it should be ready to post to you Kristen in the next couple of days. I wanted to get it done on time so that I'm not holding everyone up (the OS post can be a bit slower and unpredictable). I'm nervous and excited about this project. Have a great day Rob

Aidan is a cutie patootie!

MN also has Walnut Grove, home of Laura Ingalls and mean ol' Nellie Oleson.

The postcards available at the local grocery store included 5 depicting Baylor University (ugh), 1 of "Texas in Bloom" which had yellow flowers all over it (a yellow flower I've never seen around here before) and 1 of Waco's Dr. Pepper Museum. This tells me either a) Waco really IS that boring, or b) the grocery store had a lousy selection of postcards. I really hope it's "b". I am going to check at Wal Mart tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Can I just say that I am a virgin in the 1/ swap and circle journal projects and 2/ internet sites. I've just sat here and read the local chatter that's gone on and felt very at home and comfortable. I do apologise for not posting much , as I didn't really know how this whole thing worked. I just have Kristen to thank for inviting me, and everyone else for being so friendly. I shall try to post a picture of my journal, but dont hold your breath. I have tried MANY times to put photos on this site, but they either take forever (and I"m a NOW girl), or the files are too big. My journal has A5 size inserts so you will only fit 1 or maybe 2 postcards on a page. I have put extra pages in and don't mind what you do !! I'm so looking forward to finding out more about you and your home towns. I have had some relationship with the US---I worked in a ski resort in Utah for 3 months in the mid 80s, then travelled down the west coast, also dated a yank for a while...........Rob PS In Oz we refer to all Americans as "Yanks" ??? is this PC ??

To Aidan - 4 year olds are my favorite people and you are one of the cutest ever. I loved looking at your picture. Your silly smile made me smile.

To Erica and Melissa - Your pages are totally awesome. I can't wait to see them for real!

To Kristin - You must be really out of it. You haven't been on in pages! I hope that you are feeling better soon and back to work on your book.

Have a great Monday, Everyone!

Hi Rob. I'm originally from New Jersey, or "the North" (as they say in Texas), so I get called a Yankee here sometimes. In the U.S., it's typically the "southerners" that call people Yankees. I'm not sure if they mean it in a friendly way.
HOWEVER, we know that you mean it in a most delightful way, so no one will mind.
Since we're sharing - do people in Australia usually call it "Oz"?
And is every woman in Australia in love with Hugh Jackman like I am?

Wanted to share some happy news. I won last week's design challenge at
http://3d-designchallenge .blogspot.com/

I'm so excited and wanted to share with people who would know what I'm talking about!

This is the first time that I entered a design challenge, and I won!!! Granted, there were only a few entries and I had 3 of them, so I guess the odds were in my favor. Maybe I'll hit Vegas with my die cut winnings!!

Maybe my winnings will show up in your albums, so that will be even more fun to share!! Oh, there will be no living with me now

PS. the back of my journal looks surprisingly similar to Erica's. Maybe I'll get it posted later this morning.....

Have you ever had the Dr. Pepper made from real cane sugar? Probably not, because I don't think it is widely distributed. It is available at a few local stores here, but most people get it at the Dr. Pepper plant in Dublin, TX. If you haven't tasted that treat, I am totally going to mail you some!

Hey girls! How is everyone doing this morning? I have started my book, I will have it done this weekend and ready to ship....it is just that Baylie's schedule is as follows:
Monday-basketball practice (2 hours)
Tuesday-basketball tourney (she has three games: 1 at 5:00, 6:20 and 7:40)
Wednesday-I have to groom dogs
Thursday-basketball practice
Friday-finish up the tourney (if we make it through Tuesday night!)
Saturday-8:30 A.M. regular bball game and then off to chop up more trees from our wonderful ice storm.

I am not sure when I will get it done this week, but I will.

Thanks!

Hey, it's great!! Love the road down the middle of your front cover, great idea

Thanks for the sweet comments Melissa, was so nervous about posting after you set the bar so high! You high flier you! The stamps are stickers, well spotted although some of them were part of the pattern of the paper - saw paper with postcard patterns on and thought that would be perfect!

Erica - congrats on winning your design challenge, great job! Also would like to mention that as a Brit I am also quite smitten with Hugh Jackman (hubba hubba)

K!!!! Where are you? give us a sign that you are OK, we miss you!!!

Ok back to answering this post, I am going to cover only the Chicago area, there is a lot of info here, please don't get mad if I take up 4 pages, I just get vary excited about the city, I'll try to fit everything in two pages.
K, can we have special requests? I grew up in Ontario, CA, but I dont remember much of it because we moved when I was 7, so if you can add an extra postcard of that city you will make me very happy

I hope you are feeling better today

Maybe LisaJane intercepted it and kept it for herself.
We have a UPS store very close to our house. I may choose to mail them via UPS. Brown Santa is a little more reliable IMO.

Shiner Bock is a dark beer. I'm not a beer fan, but those who are say it's a pretty good dark beer.
I have never tried the lemon thing in Dr. Pepper. Sounds interesting! I will definitely try it!

Melanie, I love your finished book!. The title is perfect for this circle. The road looks like real asphalt! Is it textured? And the map on the back is a great idea. I was going to do something similar, but I don't want anyone to think I stole your idea.....

I'm a wine girl here (oh, and coffee.......and sometimes in that order!!)

And I love your gravel road! is it textured??? If you want it to be, I know some cool stuff you could put on it to look real!! Sort of like a sand paper!! Anyway, love it!

Hey all,

I am here...barely, still fighting a faint migraine but feeling better than I did.

BOY OH BOY!!! you girls can talk!

I am not sure I will attempt to go back and comment individually but I love all the AWESOME work I am seeing and the LIVELY chatter! Keep it up:)

I did have time to figure out the shipping schedule (and make you all a little something to keep you going ) but didn't touch my journal, so I will work on that next. In the meantime, ALL, please look for something in the mail from me. Robun and Gayle, I am going to send your schedules to your emails as well, so you have the schedule but you will have to wait for the "Treat" that comes with it in the mail. I will update the front page with the Q&A's I have received and the Journals I know are done but please shoot me a PM letting me know your time frame on your journal or if you are done so I can keep track. It sounds like folks are anxious to start,so as soon as we have everyone, Let's get this party started...sorry I was having a left over Super Bowl moment. I haven't seen Joyce yet, I assume you are sleeping off the party (but hope your aren't in jail:)

Anyhow, talk to you all soon, Mondays are bad chat days for me but Tuesday-Friday I'll be here (while I am hard at work of course:)

Kristin

Wow Diana that looks great too!!!!! You really were busy this weekend. Everyone is so talented in this group!!!! I am honored to be in this circle.

A question: How many of you have die cutters? And which one do you have? And do you like it?
Just curious. I am going to get one but I wanted to see what your opinions were.

I had a cuttlebug for Christmas which I love - absolutely invaluable if you get an alphabet for it. Really handy if you have a friend who wants one - when I go scrapping at my friend's house she loves using it and wants to cut everything out for us both!

Hi Connie - I, too, have a Cricut machine. I absolutely love her, probably a little too much as you will see when I post my cover. My Cricut is so much more clever than I ever could be. I'd be lost without her. Toni

Hugh Jackson and Nicole Kidman are out idols !!! Hugh is fantastic in anything---Did you see the live shoe "Man from Oz" ? Hugh CAN SING . As well as being a spunk. And yes, we refer to ourselves as Aussies (pronounced Ozzies like Ozzie Osborne ), and coming from Oz. Sorry Toto we're not in Kansas now. I'll try and load my photos today Rob

I have a sissix, it gets really bulky, I've been wanting a cricut for a while, but now have my eye on the Making Memories Slice, does anyone have a Slice? do you recommend it?

I was lucky enough to see The Boy from Oz on Broadway! Hugh was fantastic - singing, dancing, and very funny. Such a cutie.
