Hi - been lazy today (not exactly earth shattering news. I'm lazy every day lately).

Read up a page or two - thanks for the reminder that Sunday is Mother's Day! Last year I forgot until the day after!

One of my brother's is taking my mom out on their houseboat on Sunday and tomorrow the other is having her over for a bbq.

It is the birthday of one of Bill's friend so I will make a nice dinner. Still have decisions to make about what to cook. Oh yeah, will bake a cake and make 2 kinds of cookies so will bake most of Sunday.

Hi Elizabeth

For Cathy's questions:

1. Extra time to sleep, breakfast in bed, house cleaned without me having to ask for it, scrapping, then quick lunch, nap time, more scrapping, and last, dinner and a movie here at home all with dh and kids.

2. If money wasnt an issue, I would organize a family reunion in , all 6 of us, with wives and kids, in Mexico, all inclusive resort, with all my family. Oh, and a nurse companion for mom.

Morning

Micayla was making thumbs down choices this week too. She was picked to be P.A.T.H's kid (Pretty much gets to pass out the milk at lunch) the one day but she was acting up and not where she was suppose to be and was having other problems and the teachers choose someone else. We have also been having a problem with her back talking.

Morning Liz....the back talking is a hard issue...i deal with it from both kids...anybody have some good ideas for taming it?beside the usual time out?

Please know that I am laughing WITH you, not at you! But just wait. Teen years!

I've got a thought question for all of us gals.

Sure it's Mother's Day this weekend. I look to that as a day to honor all women that care for or provide role models for any persons in a loving manner. And all of us in this thread qualify.

So, I ask you this..... what is your most preferred way to be honored/treated (you know what I mean). What ever it may be, breakfast in bed, or extra time to sleep, a trip, a special event/meal, a gift. What ever.

But answer it in 2 ways.
1. IRL
2. If there were no obstacles (money, time, resource restraints, etc).

{and yes the 2 answers can be the same}

Well, I personally asked for a quiet weekend at the lake with a cold beer and a good book

instead I am getting a house full of my parents and grandmothers and a huge meal and lots of dishes.

Okay...another hubby moment to scrapbook

he calls me on the phone today. He says
"How much do you think time spent 4-wheeling with Drew at Silver Lake is worth? Is it priceless?"

He and his son started going to Silver Lake every summer when Drew was about 8 and went 4 wheeling on the sand dunes. 2 years ago Drew sold his four wheeler and never quite got around to buying a new one. Bill saw one for sale on his way home from work today and wants to buy it.

I told him to go for it!

For my volume challenge, yes, you can count them as pages if you're not tracking cards separately.

For Sb.c's 2009 Album Contest, no. Has to be actual pages.

Hi Everyone! Ok... so I have a question. The gallery layouts are they just randomly picked or does someone choose them? I've just noticed that it seems as though most if not all of the gallery layouts are these phenomenal pieces. No middle of the road stuff. Anyone?

Just got home from dinner. I took Abby to Applebee's after her choir performance. She sang beautifully despite having a mic problem at the beginning of her song. She sang the Phantom of the Opera with her friend Tyler.

Hey, Ang! I've got several cards to do: a Mother's Day card, two Teacher Appreciation cards, two graduation cards, and a thank you card. But tonight I'm in the mood to scrap. I'm planning on working on cards over the weekend. Sunday I plan to work on cards most of the day.

No, one of the girls at work and my nephew. MAN I feel old when I say "my nephew is graduating." Of course he was I think around 7 when my mom and dad married 10 years ago... BTW, there are no "steps" in my family. I call my stepdad "Dad," and his grown son and daughter my brother and sister. As such the kids call Dad "Paw-Paw" and his kids "Uncle" and "Aunt."

This might belong on the TC thread, but...I made a card over NSBD (for that hourly challenge) that now I don't like. Would it be wrong of me to give it to MIL and make a better one for my mom?????

Elizabeth - so the girl is going to be well enough to go to prom? (said hopefully)

Hi Scheabunchofnumbers. Thanks for humoring me by taking the bait.

Susan...I'm sure I've missed something, but why does your voice have to be back by Sunday?

Noting the sarcasm in Elizabeth's post: oh why doesn't it just freakin rain again to make this a perfect day!

Jenni adds: Um, it did. Hope you didn't blow away.

Henri - thanks for the sweet words, but after awhile, it becomes like most other things...it's a job. Thankfully, most of the nurses I work with are aware of my background and thoughtful in terms of what I do/don't have to deal with. (The biggest example being that, when a patient has severe sores/open wounds, even if I have to help with that person, the nurse will do the worst of the work so I can at least look away if I need to.) Other than that, I focus mostly on the families, or on the patients (if they're conscious and able to talk). I come from a therapist/social work/counseling background anyhow, so I'm pretty good at dealing with the emotions of it all. It's just the blood and gore
that I have trouble with.

There are the funny moments, too - such as dealing with a "manly man" (i.e. probably on steroids, weight lifter, a guy's guy - suspected drug OD that caused SEI zures) last night who was obviously in OK shape and had to deal with the indignity of using a bedpan because he was on bedrest. This isn't normally funny. But he was such a G U Y, it was killing him to not be able to get up and use the bathroom, then to have the nurse clean his rear end afterward like a bambino. The faces he made is what made it so funny. (Plus the fact that we don't have a lot of sympathy for drug users/abusers/ODers.)

Jennie asked: Dawn is that the dry heat everyone talks about? that is not supposed to be so bad?

Jenni(no e) responded: An oven is "dry heat" too, but it's still hot.

Cathy - that new smiley you made...it ROCKS!

RIA!!! Just read about Jory's accident. OMG!!! I would have been SO scared! Now that you know he's going to be okay...please don't kill him.

Heather - what did your son get in trouble for that you were making him write sentences??

to all the moms with kids who are copping some spring attitude. Ethan's doing it too - getting really bossy and demanding. We're trying to tone it down a bit....

Cathy - sorry to hear about more layoffs with your company.

Cathy & Heather (and anyone else who joined in after the point at which I'm responding)...I'm sure Cathy can tell you - or at least her DH can - but I dated an EMT when I was in high school, and he could ALWAYS tell when there was a full moon just because they'd be busier.

Jennie - sounds like you could start a new sideline business. Mother's Day cards this week, yes, but what about birthday cards? "Sorry I was an idiot" cards? "Thanks for taking such great care of the kids/house/family" cards?

Vivian - congrats! Since I was pretty much AWOL last weekend, I had (and have) no idea who, if any of us, won anything.

Ria - glad it was a good report on Jory today.

I'll post this before I go answer Cathy's questions.....

I doubt she does. She just got a computer a few months ago. I'm very surprised she hasn't made me into tech support. But her computer is so old she's on Windows95. And she has no Internet whatsoever, and no interest in scrapbooking so I'm pretty safe here.

I have more of a chance of my mom getting on here and reading my posts than I do of MIL. I gave her a link to My Place so she could look at my stuff, but so far as I know she hasn't gotten here because I haven't gotten phone calls/IMs full of questions about the site.

1. Spending time with my family, but especially with my kid - she's the reason I'm a mom, after all. But only part of the day...I'd like to have some "me" time, too.

2. The same, only more. Probably a trip of some sort for me & Kim to take, just the two of us, like we did when she was younger. Not sure where...doesn't really matter. Just go somewhere and experience someplace new together.

RIA!!! Just read about Jory's accident. OMG!!! I would have been SO scared! Now that you know he's going to be okay...please don't kill him.

Jenni, I'm not going to kill him. Jeremy and I agreed that the pain of his second-degree burns is punishment enough.

Even though I got to sleep most of the day I'm still worn out from my week and the night at the ER so I'll probably go to bed in a few minutes.

Hope your mom's doing better.

I took her antibiotics this afternoon and checked on her. She is keeping ice on it. The fingers are still a little swollen and the hand is bruised from all the blood leaking into the tissue but she says it doesn't hurt. I take her Sun or Mon to have the dressing changed.

So, I ask you this..... what is your most preferred way to be honored/treated (you know what I mean). What ever it may be, breakfast in bed, or extra time to sleep, a trip, a special event/meal, a gift. What ever.

But answer it in 2 ways.

1. A day of rest... partly spent with my family, having some great food .. and partly spent as 'me' time.

2. See 1.

That must have been scary too ... so I'm sorry if I don't remember this... does she have a medical condition that causes the non-stop bleeding?

I uploaded a new LO:

The Story of Everyday

DD has a 60s day at school, so I went hunting for some 60s jewelry and costumes for her. Anyway, that nite, we were looking at them, and Dh wanted to do a shoot, so we all dressed up and did a 60s shoot. The small pic on the lower right corner is the result.

There are more pics on FB from the shoot... they did great! Except a friend thought I was pregnant. I wasn't .. it was the cutting of the dress and also a reminder I need to hit the gym more often once I feel better. I've been slacking on the Wii Fit 'cos my back hurt for a while. Now.. once I get over this cold/infection thingy.. I'm going to go back to it.

The pics of the birdies are from last week. They are bigger now, have more feathers. The nest is very gross now... mommy birdie brought a fat and juicy take-out worm to the nest... I was wondering what the thick stick was for.. it was for the worm to curl around it! Mommy thinks of everything!!!

How's Jory Ria?????

He's doing well. We have an appointment in 3 hours at the Burn Unit at Children's Mercy Hospital. So no school for Jory today. He's in pain, doped up on pain pills, but he's okay.

For those of you who don't know, Jory made a dumb decision yesterday, and he admits he wasn't making the best of choices. He was playing with a lighter and caught his shirt on fire. He has second-degree burns on his stomach. He'll be just fine once he heals up a little. Probably have a little scarring. But he'll be okay.

OMG. How did he get his hands on a lighter at his age?
I am glad he did not get hurt more severely or cause a fire that could have been more devastating to alot of people.

My nephew was able to a lighter, from a convenience store, he used to start a fire last summer.

Ria - I didn't know that you smoke.

And you are right, you should quit. For your health and that of the kids. But I'm sure you've heard that before.

Who else in this thread smokes? Joy? Do I remember that she was cutting back??

Nope, I don't smoke. I remember that Pat and ShirleyJB were trying to quit.

Heather - saying prayers for Rachel.

Dawn - sorry to hear about your BIL.

Cindy - I'm not sure, but I *think* the featured LOs tend to be ones that have gotten a lot of votes of different kinds. And since more people tend to mark/vote for the masterpieces, those tend to be featured more often.

Hey Angie! Welcome! And I like the sound of that campout. And congrats on the graduation!! What will your degree be in?

Shirley - I got about 6 hours of sleep. Not enough, but it'll do. It's going to turn out to be better than what I'm getting tonight, if I have to be the one to have Ethan at church at 8:30 in the morning to practice for the kids' program Wednesday night. Normally, Jim would take him, but Jim's feeling kinda flu-ish. (He's never really gotten over the cold we were all passing around a few weeks ago.) So I'm trying to do as much of the Ethan stuff as I can this weekend.

Joy? Mom? ER? I've missed something again....

That sounds like us with Kim when we found out she was pregnant. Wasn't any point in doing anything disciplinary. Having to make decisions and live with them would be tough enough for her at that point.

I've thrown some old stuff into my gallery over the last 20 hours or so. You can look at it...or not...leave comments...or not...whatever suits ya. (I'm not so gung-ho about LO Love since they're older ones.)

But if you're interested, you can start with this one...

Coming with me? By C-leaper

...and then work your way forward to the more recent ones.

And with that, I'm going to go try to get a few hours sleep. Might even bunk in with Little Man in an effort to not spread the germs too much.

See you ladies tomorrow at some point.

UGH, my BIL, Jacob and Megan's dad, lost his job.

Jacob told my mom his dad lost his job. She did not press for a reason why.

with this economy it could be many reasons...will you all ask him?

No, he has chosen to not stay in touch with any of us. We hear things about him from Jacob.
