This is a new machine I read about......you can see this on you tube video and if you want to know more probably can google their website. No cutting matts required and uses SD cards (like the kind in your digital camera) It comes in pretty colors too! (no I do not sell for them...just want you gals to see what you might want on your xmas list this year! lol!)

I wonder if you can load in smaller than 12" papers, you know, papers you've already used part of.... then cut on what's left? I'd think that would be part of the system, even the personal cricut you can do that. I think I'll stay with my Cricut for awhile and let the glitches get worked out of this one first.

I found this on the site when I was looking for a price

Is it true about no cutting mat? Yes. Our unique cutter design holds the paper securely without the need for a cutting mat. No more mess, fuss or risk of tearing when removing material from a mat.

The only difference I see between this and the cricut is not having to use a mat?! Am I missing something??

It is supposed to be between 250 and 400 depending on which model you get. I have heard it will cut all TTF fonts, let you design your own shapes and it will take SD cards with images alreay on it if you don't want to create your own. It seems like a cross between Cricut and Silhouette/Wishblade. I have a silhouette otherwise I would consider it.

I just read that, but what do they mean just the different colors or do they have some that do different things?
I just like that you can cut true fonts and make your own designs without buying extra stuff! plus the size is an upgrade.. I never thought the expressions was worth the extra money for the features.

I've been watching this, too. I love the looks of it. I wish the more expensive/heavy duty ones came in the pretty colors, though.
I love my Slice, but I can definitely see me getting one of these. I've never wanted one I can only use hooked up to my computer, but this one can do both. I'm VERY excited about it.
Also, it looks like it has a similary screen to the Slice. Not complicated at all.
I figure by the time I've save for and bought myself a new laptop, any bugs will be worked out of this thing, and I can get it guilt free!

I think I will have to see more examples of this machine. Looks interesting. Also like asked above, what if I have smaller pieces of paper???

hmmmm....I think I have just added this to my b-day and Christmas list. I have been wanting a cutting system but haven't been able to make up my mind until now what I think I would use the most.

I have the small original cricut and a Slice, but I may have to add this machine to my arsenal! I had seen it before when I went to the Scrapbook Expo in Chicago, they had a showing as well, but seeing it again just reminded me of how wow'd I was in August!

This is interesting!
I think I'll need to see more....but I do like the idea of "no mats required"

Cheers,
Steph

Looks very interesting and I like the no mat requirement. But I have invested quite a bit inot m cricut so it makes it very hard to justify buying something new. I'll wait and see how it everyone likes it and if it is as easy as it looks.

I'd like to see it in action in person. There are some really intricate things I cut on my Silhouette where I am sure the paper would get all loose and wonky if there was no mat.

The main difference between this machine and the cricut is the size of the cartridges--SD cards are really small and you can put your own shapes on SD cards. You can do that with the Silhouette as well though I just take my laptop with me if I am going to use it.

the majority of the time I cut letters on scrap paper, so I'm wondering how you can do that in this machine. Also, the video didn't mention that you can use fonts from your computer, but I'm assuming you can do that?

I saw another video on YouTube where they said it would retail for $199 up to $250 for the enhanced model.

I'll pass on this one. From the vid looks like the cuts are still attached to the sheet by little tabs like when you buy a sheet of die cuts that are still attached to the sheet. You have to snip and/or sand down the little tabs. I'll stick to the mats (pun intended ).

In only half inch increments? Not 1/4 like Cricut? or even more with the Wishblade.

Yes, he did say it will cut fonts on your computer.

On the Wishblade the TTF has to allow Outline and there are some Fonts that won't allow that, not many but they do exist.

Seems great. Knowing me,I will buy it next year. Also seems cool that you can use you'r own shapes and it draws on the image as well.

Will wait to see how this actually works. To me it looked like she was having a bit of difficulty releasing the flower.

I went to their website and this is what I found

Paper size? The eCraft can handle paper up to 12" wide by ANY length (wow!).

So I think (and hope) the answer is yes.

I really, really like it, good think I haven't bought the gazzelle, because it is my favorite so far. the only thing I don't like is that it says: "There will be full line of SD Fun Cards", and I don't want to be buying SD cards around $39 each , that's why I dont like the cricut because of the carts. Anyway, it looks easy to use, and very pretty. We'll see...

If it uses some kind of a paper feed mechanism like a printer does, then I imagine it has to use whole pieces of paper, even if that paper is cut down to a non-traditional size. (But I don't know that for sure, just speculation.) One thing I like about my Gazelle is that I can use any piece of paper, even if it has a bunch of shapes already cut out of it, because all the loose ends are held down by the mat.

I also don't get how it cuts out shapes without those shapes coming loose in the cutter, UNLESS the shape cutouts are not cut 100%, like leaving little tabs every half inch or so. That's sort of what it looked like on the video when you could see him "punching" out the shapes from the paper. That is also a disadvantage over machines that use a mat because those machines do a 100% clean cut all the way around. But again, I'm speculating because he didn't say for sure one way or the other.
