Well hey there! Do you like getting your hands dirty with ink and paint? Do you distress, tear, crumple, and otherwise destroy your papers? Do you find that you often get comments like "Wow, great distressing," or "Look at all that ink and paint!". Do you feel misunderstood in your love of the "darkside" of scrapping?

If so, you've found the right place! I would love to form a COF consisting of gals and guys whom adore the dirty side of scrapping. Come in and chat, vent about your day, and share your work. Stuck on a page? Post and we'll help! Want a raw, honest critique? Ask, and we'll give it. Share your distressing tips and tutorials with us here! Most importantly, have fun!

Sooooo, who will join me, and be my deliciously distressed friends?? I'm looking to keep the group under 20, so we can get to know each other and keep up with chat. If you're interested, please copy the questionaire below, and reply with your answers. Look forward to meeting you!

Check out our tutorials, which is the third post down from here, for inspiration!

Our challenges, to keep us growing as artists!

Challenge 1: Scrap with a product or technique OUTSIDE of your comfort zone..

FIRST HOLIDAY GIFT/CARD EXCHANGE INFO::
!!!*GIRLS, THE HOLIDAYS ARE ALMOST UPON US*!!!!!

**HERE'S THE IDEA**:

I will take the names of people who want to do this, and pair people up. Via PM, you will be given your pals' name, address, and brief questionnaire answers. You will then need to send a handmade card, altered goodie, and another treat to your pal. You must mail by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10,2010..

Sound good?? If you want in, here's what you must do:

*Post here that you want to, and send me a PM that you want in, by Friday, September 10. Include your full name, mailing address, and answers to the questionnaire. (At the bottom of this post)

*The weekend of September 11-12, I will assign pals and send you a PM with your pal's info. THIS IS A SECRET!!! Don't tell who you are making goodies for! We want this to be a surprise! You will be making items for someone DIFFERENT than who is making for you!!
((Of course, as the hostess, I will know who is making for me. That is OK by me! AND, no matter how much you bribe me, I will not tell who is making for who! HAHA!)

*Going by your pals' answers on the questionnaire, you must make a card, handmade goodie, and send them a treat. Then, mail by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2010...

.....MEMBERS.....

*BYONDBZR*
1. What's your name?
Rebecca
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..
I have a boyfriend of 7 years, and we have two children. My girly-girl Rylie just turned 5, and my crazy boy Mason just turned 3.
3. How long have you been scrapping?
Five years.
4. What is your favorite product?
I must say ink, I can't do a page without INK!
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
My Mind's Eye and Basic Grey for patterned papers. Clearsnap for ink, I am addicted to Colorbox cat's eyes
6. A quick description of your style?
"Eclectic distressing meets beauty parlour"
7. Anything else you want to share?
I can be a little cooky and sometimes crazy! I scrap to preserve memories for my children, but I also enjoy the artistic side of it. Nothing is off limits to me, I scrap good, and bad. I don't think only the good times should be remembered, that would be a lie. I scrap with anything, I just don't care about "acid/lignin" free! I love to alter stuff, and again, nothing is off limits there either!

*FOREVERVAMPRESS*
1. What's your name?
Celina
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..
I'm a military spouse; my 14th wedding anniversary is in May. I have two daughters, 17 and 13, and a son who is 3. I have a very large extended family and a few unofficially adopted members.
3. How long have you been scrapping?
I've been scrapping since June of 2009. Got obsessed with it right away and my husband says it's an addiction!
4. What is your favorite product?
Right now my favorite prodcut is any color of Distress Ink. There are so many wonderful products out there but my fingers are constantly colored with ink.
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
My favorite manufacturer must be Ranger. They make such awesome products I love to use like memory glass and studio paints.
6. A quick description of your style?
I'd say my style is pretty eclectic but I like to go dark whenever I can.
7. Anything else you want to share?
Nothing else comes to mind at the moment but I am sure stuff will come up to share later! I look forward to be a part of this COF!

*KRISSYCLARKMCKEE*
1. What's your name?
Kristin "Krissy" Clark McKee
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..
Married - not my first but it IS my last marriage! Three year anniversary is this October. I have four children spread out in age from 23 to 9. Thankfully, they don't all live at home anymore. Hubby has two children, 23 and 26, who are also out of the house and self-sufficient. We have four, yes four, dogs (all ankle biters) and my youngest daughter is the proud owner of two rats.
3. How long have you been scrapping?
I just started last April - can't believe I waited so long!
4. What is your favorite product?
Distress Ink - can't seem to do a page without it!
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
Gosh, that one is so hard! Probably my two favorite paper manufacturers right now would be Graphic 45 and Crate Paper. I am a paper addict,though!!!!6. A quick description of your style?
Not a clue - I don't think I have just one. If you know, please tell me. I have been super-fascinated by vintage lately, though.7. Anything else you want to share?

*DANCINIRISH90*
1. What's your name?
Lisa
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..
I've been married for 16 years. I have a 13 year old daughter. We have a dog and a bird.
3. How long have you been scrapping?
I've kept up with albums of photos and memorabilia since high school. I started 'modern' scrapbooking a couple years ago, but I feel I've only recently started embracing the more artistic side of this hobby.
4. What is your favorite product?
I go in phases, but I don't do many pages without some type of ink on it. And I love border punches too.
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
Probably Basic Grey
6. A quick description of your style?
What style? I let the pictures decide how they should be presented, I guess. I do consider my pages as divided into 2 types -- functional pages and artistic pages. I scrap all my photos, so sometimes I just need to get them done with multiple photos and not a lot of other stuff going on. But when a photo is extra special to me or inspires me, I give it a more elaborate treatment. Does that make sense?
7. Anything else you want to share?

*ZUK*
1. What's your name?
Andrea
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..
I've been married for 8 1/2 years to my husband Trey and we have an 8 year old son.

Like Lisa I started in high school with what was available back then. I've always been into art my whole life and went to fashion college for a year.I'm especially fascinated with color!
4. What is your favorite product?
Most definately my distress inks. I have all the colors and just love playing with them.
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
Tim Holtz, Basic Grey, and Bobunny.
6. A quick description of your style?
I don't feel like I have a certain style. My starting point is always the photo so that dictates where I want the design to go. I LOVE trying new techniques and telling stories with my photos and designs!
7. Anything else you want to share?
I'm on the design team for "If it's groovy" as a 2 page designer. I also just opened up my own etsy shop about a week ago, so I've been pretty busy lately but this seems like a great group already. Besides, I like the sound of being a deliciously distressed diva. Lol.

*WENDYG-SA*
1. What's your name?
Wendy
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..
Married with 3 adorable kids. Jarrod's 11 and entering that pre-teen phase which is scaring me a bit. Erin is 4 and a real FIRE CRACKER! Just like mom. And my darling Matt has just turned 1 and is the most adorable baby. Love them all to death!!
3. How long have you been scrapping?
My mom got me started at the end of 2007 and I'm absolutely hooked now
4. What is your favorite product?
I'm just loving misting at the moment. I love the fact that I can alter anything to the colour I WANT!!! Cool5. Your favorite manufacturer?
I LOVE Prima's embellies. For pp's I must say Prima, Kaiser Kraft and I've recently become hooked on the creative Imaginations range6. A quick description of your style?
I have several because I do really girly LO's for my daughter and then I go to the opposite extreme for my oldest son. But genrellay I love to tear, crumbles, paint, stitch.
7. Anything else you want to share?
I find it extremely frustrating having a very unique style amongst local scrappers here in SA. I can't join any crops or classes because I just don't fit in so sb.com has become my scrapping home. Look forward to learning and sharing with you gals

Colorbox cat's eyes, am obsessed! Just got my first distressed ink and am pretty sure I'm loving it!
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
Prima for embellies and BasicGrey for pp
6. A quick description of your style?
Still looking for it, I've been 'throwing together' scrapbooks for two years with putting enough thought in it to make sure the paper is straight. But have started getting a little more into the artistic side and have found that not one page-no matter the theme-doesn't have something torn, crumpled, inked or chalked. Have also found that I love the backing of prima flowers to add to los
7. Anything else you want to share?
My hands and nails are always dirty-thanks to either the pottery wheel in my garage or the ink that is cluttering my table! Love to get constructive criticism and learn new techniques and products and would love to get to know some people also into scrapbooking-even if they aren't in the area!

*GENTLEWOODFARMS*
1. What's your name?

2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..

3. How long have you been scrapping?
I started scrapping in 2004 when I was blessed with a black and white appaloosa colt that was national level show quality. I wanted to keep a "book" for clients to look at as we went to the regional shows. I planned to stand him as a stallion, but he died of liver cancer at age four. Scrapbooking sort of filled the hole and still provides a creative outlet for me.

now, this one is hard. I love all sort of distressing stuff but I also love prima flowers
5. Your favorite manufacturer?
Prima for flowers and probably Basic grey for pattern paper

6. A quick description of your style?
I have no idea although many have told me that my style is shabby chic
7. Anything else you want to share?
Well, I love my Pazzles and CANNOT (I've tried!) make a layout without using it! My husband supports my hobby (he got me the Pazzles as a birthday present some years back) up to the point where he begs for me to go shopping (he's a keeper alright!) and he nags me for not having finished the wedding album yet. I love to make my own embellishments. Sometimes I sell premade pages and embellishments (tear bears, handmade flowers, etc) on eBay to help support my hobby.

Oh, yeah, it takes me hours and even days to finish one layout. I'm extremely sloooow but I always love how the layout looks at the end.

So today I took my kids to a "Fairy Princess" birthday party. It was a friend of my dd's from preschool. The kids had fun, and got worn out, LOL. They are now on the way to grandma's house to spend the night. I get a night with NO kids, WOOHOO! I don't know if me and Jim(boyfriend) will go out or anything....

Right now, I'm kicking out some laundry, and then I want to get my scrap on!

YAY Krissy, glad you joined us!

Hope you have a great time at your crop today! My first ever crop, well not with family that is, was with a bunch of gals here at sb.com. We call ourselves the WTTS girls. (Will Travel To Scrap) Goodness, I was so nervous for our first meeting, but everyone was awesome, and we already "knew" each other so we really hit it off.

We've had two crops now, one in Ohio, one in Michigan. Our third crop is this summer, I'm trying to save up money for it. It's at a crop retreat, a pretty, old house. It's under a two hour drive for me, so I really hope to make it!

Rebecca, a crop retreat sounds so much fun. Some of my good friends in another forum on this site are supposed to be planning a retreat in October that I'm hoping to go to! It seems like so much fun!

The crop I'm going to today is at Archiver's and I'm going with a lady I met on this site who actually lives in the same town as I. So, I've made my little baggy packages but will probably be looking for reasons not to have what I want/need for my layouts so I can do a little shopping, too! LOL!

Hee, yep, an excuse to shop is always nice isn't it! I just love this hobby because it is so easy to bond with people online, and then possibly meet up. I hope you get to go to the meet-up!

When I crop, I do as you do, I make "page kits". I will get four pics(or sets of them if wallet sized)and then pull the pp's and embellies. I take a few extra pics, not as kits, in case I get all four layouts done. I also take nearly all of my flowers, a huge selection of inks/paints, my trim collection, and extra cs and pp. I honestly never get more than four LO's done during a weekend crop. I like to chat, we go out to eat and for coffees, we hit up a LSS, and really, I do scrap slowly as I often have to wait on paint/mists to dry! Our first crop, I got 3 LO's done, the second one, I got a 12x12 wall hanging, and a 6 page mini album completed.

OK, going to go scrap for a bit. I tried making "mud" yesterday. It didn't go over like I wanted, BUT, I do like what I have. So, I want to finish this up and if I still love it, I may do a tutorial on it.

Can't wait to see what you came up with for mud, Rebbeca! You know, I wish I could find other scrappers around where I live but haven't had any luck so far. My best friend scraps and we get together but the frequency has gone down because her life is so crazy busy right now. We try to get together once a month at least. I try to scrap every day because it's how I relax.

Me too Celina. Getting my hands dirty really helps me de-stress. I'm sorry to hear you friend is too busy to get together, I hope you can find more local scrappy folks! You don't happen to be in Ohio, do you??

Weeellll...The "mud" doesn't look like my vision. I can try again with different materials sometime. I did scrap the layout anyway, and I like the final result. I also decided it was time to use the empty plastic packaging from my Prima flowers. I have kept many, just not wanting to throw them out. I used alcohol ink on one, and layered it on my page. I have an idea to whip up some flowers using this technique too. I am off to try it!

Here is my page if you'd like a peek!

Oooh, love how you described your style Lisa! I am the same way, I let pictures "tell" me what to do! Sometimes the result is grungy, sometimes bold and crazy, but one thing I rarely do is simple. Occasionally, yes. I also tend to do what I call "concept" LO's I did one that was my son swinging, and I made the background page look like the sun, sky, Earth. I put a huge tree on it too, and "hung" the pic like my son was actually swinging on it.. I also did one with a rainbow and houses underneath, like it's a street with homes.

I think, it's my concept of how I would see the world in relation to the picture itself. I am trying to capture the memory along with the pic. It is normally artsy, and would never make a publication, but I think it rocks! It can be crazy, but I have found here at sb.com, that people really LIKE that type of scrapping. KWIM? Heck, I think my swing LO got 60+ votes as faves, that is incredible to me, as I nearly didn't post it. I thought everyone would LAUGH at it! You just never know. It was so different, I thought there was no place for it in the scrappy world. That NEVER stops me from creating, I love it!

I remember that LO, Rebecca - and it really was/is amazing. One thing I've come to realize is that there is a place for EVERY style in the scrappy world! I think people like to see and admire things they wouldn't or couldn't do and appreciate them for all the creativity and effort that went into them even if it's not their style.

It's so funny -- the LO's of mine that I think are not so good, often get lots of votes, and the ones of mine I love, get ignored! LOL -- I am obviously not a very good judge of what people like.

I'm struggling with a LO right now because I don't have the right ribbon. I do NOT want to haul my lazy self out to the store to shop for something else, so I'm trying to figure out what to do to improvise. I'm trying to do 'girly punk' for this one. I know there are going to be safety pins on it somehow and some distressed brocade looking pp, but that's as far as I've gotten.

Well, what color of ribbon do you need?? IF you have white or cream, and the desired color in glimmer mist, paint, or ink, then you can color to suit your needs. That is why I have a bunch of white lace and burlap, it is so easy to alter.

Also, if you cannot color white ribbon, pick a piece of cs or pp that is the right color. Cut it into the width you desire, and crumble it up. Then, roll it onto a pen or pencil, and use it as "paper" ribbon. Does that help? Adding something like Glossy Accents will really set it apart too, it won't look like paper, KWIM??

Oh yeah, instead of ribbon, maybe fold a piece of paper accordian style, that could work too!?!

Gorgeous, Rebecca! I think what you are doing with the plastic is amazing. I, however, have a horrible fear of alcohol inks. Maybe being in this group with help me conquer it

Well, I finished my LO, but it's too dark to get a pic tonight I think. It turned out more 'girly' than 'punk.' Actually, I should have said 'new wave' anyway. I ended up just using a ribbon I had, and it looks okay. On to the next thing!

I've been married for 8 1/2 years to my husband Trey and we have an 8 year old son.
3. How long have you been scrapping?
Lol.

Yay! That is OK Wendy, check in when you are able. I don't want this to be a stressful place, where you feel you HAVE to keep up and then feel guilty/bad if you're behind. I don't like that feeling and don't want to inflict it upon anyone else!

I have to get the kids up/dressed and take Rylie to preschool. I'll add you two to the member list when I get back!

Good morning!

Here's the LO I was working on yesterday. I was going to do something different with the glimmer mist, but it didn't work, so I ended up using a paper towel to spread mist over the whole bg. I like how it came out - kind of swooshy.

Nope not in Ohio. I live in Texas. lol. I do love that you used the Prima packaging in this layout. I also have some packaging saved up and am gonna have to try using it some time.

Hey there, I'd love to join if you'll have me!

1. What's your name? Annie
2. Tell a little about your family. Married? Kids? Etc..Just got married in September, no kids yet but a 10 y/o german shepherd and a 12 week old cockapoo
3. How long have you been scrapping? 2 years
4. What is your favorite product?Colorbox cat's eyes, am obsessed! Just got my first distressed ink and am pretty sure I'm loving it!
5. Your favorite manufacturer? Prima for embellies and BasicGrey for pp
6. A quick description of your style?Still looking for it, I've been 'throwing together' scrapbooks for two years with putting enough thought in it to make sure the paper is straight.

Welcome aboard Annie, I'll go add you!

Andrea- That is one thing I dislike about DT work, not being able to share it as soon as it's finished!

Celina- Yes, use up those packages! I am thinking I'll mainly be using them to layer with. I love to layer! Oh yeah, Texas is a wee bit far to go to crop, LOL! Perhaps someday, one can never exclude anything right?!

Rebecca, I got to tell you I LOVE your "mud" layout! The one thing I absolutely love about your layouts is that you aren't afraid to experiment and you look at things (like plastic packaging) that I would NEVER think of using with an eye to making it part of your art!

I could babble on for the next five minutes or so about how much I love this! Like, Lisa, I have an unreasonable fear of alcohol inks. I also have a fear of using masks, but I think I will bite the bullet and give them a try because your layout is fantastic and I want to be able to do that!

Krissy, I'm also afraid of Stazon! LOL. Permanence frightens me I guess -- a fear of commitment

I like using masks with ink and a blending tool best -- for some reason, I don't get a consistently good image when I use a spray.

Okay - so bonehead move of the day award. Last night I was pushing my glasses up onto my head so that I could see better to cut -- and yes, do you see where this is going? -- I had scissors in my hand.... I cut a clump of my hair! I FREAKED out when I thought it was worse than it was, but luckily it's not noticeable. LOL - what a dope!

So sorry I'm just catching up and doing a little monologue here. Here are three layouts I did at my crop yesterday (well, two were done at my crop and one was finished after I got home). Almost all of my layouts these days are being done for the AGC daily challenges - I am obsessed with that forum right now, I think because the different challenges keep me out of a rut and I'm just competitive enough that I like the point system.

Lisa, spraying stuff on paper doesn't work too well for me either. Maybe I will try your method and get over my mask fear.

You cut your hair!!! I've accidentally written on my face with a pen doing pretty much the same thing - I guess I'm fortunate I didn't have scissors in my hand at the time! Glad it wasn't a noticeable piece of hair!

Good afternoon ladies, after a long day at work I just want to go down to my room and play! Sadly though the DH, puppy, and dinner are saying otherwise for now-have a lo that is just begging to be finished-so hopefully will post this evening yet!

And Lisa, I have cut my hair while scrapping before as well! Although it was done with a pair of fiskars edgers-and was a contributing factor to that summer's bangs-oops

Lisa-OMG, I am sorry to laugh but that did put a smile on my face! I was afraid you were going to say you cut or otherwise hurt yourself, so that at least, is a good thing!

Krissy- Thank you for all the compliments! Yes, I get a thought in my head, and I figure I should just go for it. I do like the way that "mud" looks, but I don't think it is 'muddy' enough, if that makes sense! I want to try something else, and maybe I can perfect it for another page. I do have kids who love getting dirty, so there will always be a use for mud on my pages!

On the masking- Well, I haven't been masking with glimmer mist for very long. In part, because I only recently got glimmer screens. I cannot speak highly enough of them. I only have two sets, trees and snowflakes. The snowflakes, as you have seen, can be used as frilly flourishes as long as you cover a portion of the shape. To use them with mists, just visualize where you want it, set down the glimmer screen, and spray lightly until the entire outline of the shape has been colored over. There will be drops of mist on your screen, they pool up nicely. you have to grab the screen in two places, and quickly lift up. I do this is my kitchen, so I can walk over to my sink, and wash the mask right off. Then dry, and repeat, if need be. For the layout I posted, I had to hide the space where the misted images overlapped, so I plopped my picture there, LOL. I guess the thing I remember, is that I can always cover mistakes, or if i hate it, set it aside, and maybe one day it will call me back to it. KWIM?

On alcohol inks- Yep, scared me too at first! I hadn't used them, or StazOn, until I made the DT for my Acrylic Album. When I got that email, i ran out and bought some! NO JOKE! I was new to acrylic, and permanent inks, and I HAD to learn to use them! Want to see the very first thing I made with them??

There is nothing like having a couple of hours to lose yourself in a lo-and I can say I finally finished it up after a day and a half. Not exactly what I was thinking when I envisioned it, and I have a feeling something more will be added/changed. I'm not really a huge fan of the lollipop flowers on this one. Did realize I am in desperate need of a shopping trip for some embellies and an ink or two (or five!)

Morning!

So today I have to finish a DT project up, get it photographed, write a quick tutorial, and send that to the kit club owner. So what did I do? I had my camera with me at work last night since I scrapped on break. I LEFT IT AT WORK! Cannot believe that! I have to go out of my way to go pick it up after I drop Ry at prescool. At the very least, it isn't far from my home.

Good morning - bummer about your camera, Rebecca.

I didn't get anything done last night. I've been watching one of my old shows again on DVD the last couple weeks so I ended up sitting (JUST sitting) in front of a lo and watched 3 episodes. Hopefully today will be more productive. I don't have to pick Cassie up from school today until 6pm because she has dress rehearsal for their Shakespeare night.

How'd the cake turn out, Andrea?

After all our talk about alcohol inks yesterday, I got my newest issue of Scrapbooks, Etc., and one of their tips was using alcohol ink for accents. I took that as a sign and guess I am going to put on my big girl pants and try them out.

Krissy, go forth and conquer the alcohol ink, it will not bite you. Much.

Yeah, what are you watching Lisa? And what are you scrapping today?

And mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, cake! We need some cake pics up in here!

OK, I MUST go scrap now....

I actually did do a layout last night - not quite sure where I found the motivation. But it's a pretty simple, uncomplicated layout. It's another (and there will be many more) of my daughter, Lindsey, who is getting ready to graduate from college (magna cum laude) and is going to grad school for physical therapy. She will come out of that program with her PhD - which, I am pretty sure, is a first for my family. We have several relatives with Masters, including hubby, but no doctorates yet. I am so proud of her!!!

Speaking of cameras, here's a question for any of you who can offer some advice. I have a Rebel, and I want to get a zoom lens for my birthday. I don't want to drop a couple thousand dollars on the lens itself and would prefer to stay under the price of my camera. Can any of you recommend a good lens? A zoom should be the first one I get, shouldn't it? Suggesions, ideas, comments???

And if this isn't the right place for this question, just tell me to take it someplace else and no hard feelings!

Aww congratulations on your DD's graduation-that's such a great accomplishment! I certainly hope the rest of her studies go smoothly!

As for your camera, I would recommend a zoom lens first for sure-it is the one that would probably get used the most. Sadly I don't think I've seen one for much less than a grand-but my bil is a big camera guy he might have some recommendations-could check with him if you'd like!

Seriously, if there is anything you think I could do better or different, I would love to hear it. It's always nice to have sweet comments but I'm all for improvement, too!!!

Krissy, these are beautiful! I especially like the Baby Cakes layout; so cute!

So I've got three project going on right now! Two layouts plus a canvas project I am making for my grandmother for mother's day. Plus I am trying to think up a topic for next month's The Darker Side Challenge, which I would like to complete a layout for before the 30th. Ugh! I feel like I have scrapper's block or scrapper's overload!

Whew, finally done with DT work for this month. I can breathe for a few days, before the dance begins yet again, LOL

I put up a sneak peek of the work I did for my kit club on my blog: http://byondbzr.blogspot.com/2010/04/sneak-peak.html

Krissy - I'm no help with Canon, but I will tell you that I'm going to be getting a lens for my Nikon soon. I decided on a 70-300 (I can't remember the f/ right now) because it'll be better than what I have for wildlife shots, and it's only about $500-600. (The one I really wanted is an 80-400 -- but it's $1900. Not exactly in my budget right now!) I learned that digital focal length is 1.5x the focal length of comparable film lenses -- so the 70-300 is like having a 450mm lens on a film camera. My old film Minolta only had a 200mm lens so I figure I'm already going to be able to get better shots than I did with that camera. I hope anyway. The other lens I have for my Nikon is an 18-135. I'm hoping that between the two, I should be able to do most of what I would want.

I was watching Roswell -- just finished the last episode of the series. It was on originally from 1999-2002.

I just finished one of my calendar LO's for 2007. Nothing exciting. And now, I'm working on my LO for the 2page sketch challenge. I haven't gotten farther than picking out what pics to use and the paper so far. Anyway, just some of those 'functional' LO's I was talking about before.

Celina -- I'm so sorry that I didn't get something done for the Darker Side challenge. I have pics for it - they just aren't printed, and I don't feel 'ready' to do them yet. I'm really glad you are going to host again next month!

Lisa, don't worry about not being able to join this month. The challenge is so new that I wasn't expecting too many to join. I hope it will pick up speed though. Whenever you're ready to use those pictures though, the challenge is here.

Good morning girls! I wish I could share my cake with you. It came out yummy but now I don't want it. I'm suppose to be on a diet so I was bad last night.DH hates cake so the rest will have to be for my son and his friends. Rebecca I just checked out your blog. I'm very intrigued by the seed packets. I didn't get anything done yesterday so I should do something today. I haven't had any sales or traffic in my shop so maybe I should do a LO with one of my embellies?

Lisa, I'm hoping to stay right in that range. I know that you can buy lenses from different manufacturers but I need to read up more on those because some can be pretty hit or miss from what I understand. What I should do is call my step-dad and ask him because he is a HUGE photography buff, but he will talk my ear off about photography for at least an hour and at some point I will just stop retaining whatever he tells me - and there's no way to cut him short without upsetting him. *sigh*

Celina - I really want to try your challenge, too, but this just wasn't the month for it. I was definitely interested after reading your objective in your forum!

Andrea- I think using your embellies on your pages and then including your etsy link would definitely get some traffic to your site. Could you share the link here for us too? I wanna see!

OK, I am allowed to say what they are, the owner of the kit club spilled it earlier this month. The kit makes 6 garden stakes using Cosmo's Garden Variety collection. I think they are cute, which really isn't my fave style, but I still did my distressing, LOL. I'll share them here on the first of the month.

Rebecca, can't wait to see them. I really like these Cosmo Cricket papers! Well inspiration has struck so I completed the two layouts and mom's day project AND I figured out a topic for next month's challenge! My best friend is also coming over for NSD to participate with me here at sb.com then we're having Mai Tais! So feeling pretty darn good at the moment! lol!

Ooohh -- I love Mai Tais!! Sounds fun! My best friend was supposed to come over for NSBD -- I made her promise last year -- but now she has a first communion to go to that day. I'll be here all day though.

Lisa - I love Mai Tais, too! Me and my friend barely tried them a couple of weeks ago and now its our favorite fruity drink! This NSD will be our first, so I am a bit nervous because I don't know what to expect. But I know it will be lots of fun!

It is fun! Last year was my first -- there was a new challenge every hour, plus the all day LO challenge. I think I did all but one. Some of the hours, I felt frantic, then others were more laid back. I'm excited to see what they have planned this year.

Hi ladies, had a busy day with the kids yesterday as it was a public holiday here in SA (freedom day). I only got as far as selecting pics and papers for a new LO. I have a design in mind but I know I've seen something similar here. It's a LO for my oldest son and I have this great grungy paper from Kaiser Craft extreme range. I was thinking about creating a brick wall using peaces of distressed pp as my bg. Like I say, I've seen it somewhere on sb.com before but obviously didn'y save it as a fav. I'd like to give credit so if this rings a bell to any of you or maybe it was one of your designs let me know.

Good morning all-another day I'd rather be home in my room! Got absolutely nothing done last night but am looking forward to NSBD this weekend. I'm turning it into a three day marathon!

Celina-Mai Tais sound fantastic-a great choice. And I'm glad you're able to get together with your friend for the festivities! It will be my first time on sb.com as well-but am looking forward to it!

Anyone else have big plans for NSBD?

Morning girls!

I'll be bouncing from here to Scrapbook Kit Club's site on NSBD. I have to keep up over there as it's our first anniversary, so there is a bloghop, games, challenges, etc. I will also play as many hourly games here as I can, I won a package two years ago! Nothing last year though, so I think I'm due, LOL. I'm willing to guess if all of us "Triple D's" play, we'll have a winner in our group!

LOL, I just called us "Triple D's"!!

I'll also be on the lookout for any manufacturer blogs for easy-to-enter RAKS. If I find some, I'll post links here so we can all go for it. Hey, free stuff is da bomb-daddy!

And, of course, I'll be scrappin' it up too. I have told Jim that I will be mentally absent from the home this weekend, LOL..

Wendy- I have seen several pages based off of brick backgrounds. the only one I can find is one my friend Alyssa did. We have met IRL for one of our WTTS crops! She is a sweetie too. Here is her page, she doesn't have it set for public embedding.

OK, must finish this coffee, and get these kiddos up and ready to head out the door soon.

Good morning, ladies. Hope you all have a good day!

I sorted baby clothes all afternoon/evening yesterday, and I've got days of work left to go through everything in our crawl space. Our garage sale is in less than 2 weeks -- why am I such a procrastinator? I'm still keeping a LOT of this stuff. I'm too emotionally attached to her baby things to get rid of them. I'm hoping that as the clothes I'm sorting get bigger, I'll be more willing to let them go.

I did that last year with my kiddos' tiny baby stuff. It was so hard to part with any of it, but my home is too small to have 6 large boxes of infant clothes around. I sorted down to just one smaller sized box for each of their things, so I only store two boxes now. I kept the stuff I loved the most, but boy, it was horrible to do. I donated the rest to the Kidney Foundation, so I can at least feel I did something good and that softened the blow a little.

Now, I HAVE to go write a tutorial up, i've run out of time and my DT needs it...

I know -- it's so dumb to waste the space, but I just can't help it! Almost all the stuff in our crawl space is Cassie's. I have gotten rid of a lot though. I was able to throw away some, and will try to sell some in our garage sale, and what doesn't sell, I'll donate. WHen it was all originally boxed, as she outgrew things, I saved EVERYTHING in case I had another child. So now that that ship has sailed, I can get rid of the non-special things like plain onesies and a zillion pairs of jammies - things like that. Good grief, I even had saved a box of breast pads and my nursing bras!! Good riddance!

Good morning! just popping in real quick before I have to take my daughter to the dentist.

Rebecca - I hope you do post some easy RAKS to enter. You're right, free stuff is the bomb-diggity! lol. Peach margaritas?! Never heard of that but sounds delisious!

Lisa - I know how it is to go through all the baby stuff and try to sort it out to get rid of it. I still have boxes up in my crawl space but I tried to only keep my favorites. Had a garage sale last year to get rid of my girls stuff and they are 17 and 13! Now I'm storing tons of my son's stuff(he's 3) and I think that I need to sort his stuff now, too. That will be hard since he's the baby and I don't see me having any more. Gonna have to set a day for it. Good luck sorting through yours.

They're from Mike's, you know, like Mike's Hard Lemonade. They are G-O-O-D, but must be icy cold!
I found a pic of it:

  • krissyclarkmckee]Speaking of cameras, here's a question for any of you who can offer some advice. I have a Rebel, and I want to get a zoom lens for my birthday. I don't want to drop a couple thousand dollars on the lens itself and would prefer to stay under the price of my camera. Can any of you recommend a good lens? A zoom should be the first one I get, shouldn't it? Suggesions, ideas, comments???

    quote Said:

I heard back from my BIL and he sent the following:

I'm getting the canon 50-250 IS lens for $400… As my next lens It's light and very fast… I also like the ap stops available to it…. Tamron and sigma also make good lenses for less money, but you sacrifice speed and weight… Also if she does buy a canon lens to make sure it's one that came out in the last couple of years… They are built better for digital use and they have the Ultrasonic Motors standard. They actually don't label them USM or Ultrasonic anymore because they are all pretty much ultrasonic if they were designed recently… Hope this helps…

Hopefully this will help at least a little!

Well, at least the pads and bras shouldn't cause you any grief to get rid of!!! Lisa, take heart, I think it does get easier to get rid of clothes as they get bigger - except prom and homecoming dresses. I'm having an extremely difficult time convincing myself to let those go even though I know beyond a shadow of a doubt they will never be worn again!

This helps a LOT and right in my price range!

And I will be getting good use out of it in July! I was supposed to visit hubby in Angola, but there's been some security deal that will prevent me from going. I'm not feeling bad about it at all because instead we are going to meet up in London for a few days and then do an independent driving tour of Ireland for a week. I just booked everything today and am SUPER excited!

Krissy - WOW! London and Ireland! Those are my dream destinations! I've never been out of the United States except to cross the border into Mexico real quick, which for me does not count because it always felt like visiting just another city. I would love to travel to Europe some day! Take lots of pictures! LOL! I know I probably don't have to tell you that!

No, my hubby has been there a few times and loves it, too - says it's one of his all time favorites. He's also been to Scotland a few times but neither of us have been to Ireland.

Rebecca - I told the convenience store clerk when I was getting gas that I wanted to buy the WINNING mega-millions lottery ticket. He promised me he was selling me the winning one. So, when I win, I am going to plan a little vacay for all my sb.com friends to go on with me. Let's just hope the clerk was telling me the truth and sold me the right ticket this time - he keeps getting it wrong for some reason - LOL!
