Welcome to the monthly Monochromatic Layout Challenge. Here are the basics of how it works.

1. Each week there will be a color that you can do a layout around. This is the only color tone allowed in the layout.

2. NEW NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE! You may add neutral colors to your layout. Acceptable neutral color tones are white, cream, beige, tan, brown, khaki, olive, black, gray, and navy. These are the colors that my mother always told me "go with everything."

3. The majority of your layout - at least 3/4 - must be the weekly color. Any other colors must come from the neutrals palette.

4. Each week there will be a twist. If you complete the twist, your page gets an extra vote.

5. If you decide that you want to complete ALL the month's layouts in one week that is perfectly fine. You can also do the weeks out of order. Whatever works for you!

6. No sign-up required. Just jump in and have fun whenever you're ready!

7. I'm not the comment police. I know we all get busy and get behind. But we all like to get comments on our project, so do your best to give love when you get love.

Glad you girls are happy with the colors this month. October really IS my favorite month of the year - the weather is ALWAYS perfect and the natural scenery is just spectacular.

I can't wait to see this month's projects when they start coming in!

Hey Jennifer!

It's pretty simple. You upload your picture to your SB.com gallery. When you do that, you'll see a place that allows public embedding. Make sure that box is checked.

Post your layout into the forum. I'll take care of getting it to the front page.

WELCOME to the Monochrome Challenge!

Welcome MommaProv!

Monochrome is just like any other LO - just that you keep the entire page in a single color family.

You can use variations of the same color throughout, but you can't add anything TO that color family but neutral colors.

Once you get started, it's pretty fun and usually a lot easier than it sounds. There's lots of ways to mix and match.

Monochrome is really one of my FAVORITE techniques.

Here's an example of a monochrome LO using a blue color scheme. Hope this helps.

One more question. Commenting on LO's is done where? Here or in each persons gallery?

For example, lets say you post a rather lovely LO (because I expect nothing less from you!!!!).
Would I then go to your gallery and gush love or would I just gush here?

Pat, I have a question about the decorative borders. Would ribbon count? Stamping? For some reason my mind is all stuck on border punches, but things like fibers or felt would work?

The longer you know me, the easier you're going to find me. Decorative border means just that -- fuss up the edge. Punch it, stitch it, lace it, tear it, stamp it. The only thing that matters is that the decorative is obviously "on the border" and not just randomness.

So - is it decorative? Is it on the edge? You decide. If you say so, it works for me.

Does that help?

Here is my layout for week 1. I am not sure if my borders of brads and buttons or inking counts. I do have a border I hand did around the photo, just orange lines. I'll let Pat decide...and Pat! Don't be too nice! LOL if this is not what you intended that is a-ok with me!

I never know what I intended until I SEE it. This one looks like it has a bunch of decorative edges to ME.

Thing about a twist is...it's really WAY open to interpretation. What I have in my head and what comes out of your fingers may not be the same at all, and yet - somehow - it all turns out perfect.

I love your layout, Penny!

Jacki -

I would say that DEFINITELY qualifies as GOLD! That's some pretty shiny paper you got there! I LIKE it! I want some of my own!

:: sigh ::

I'm working on my Week 1 Sketch Challenge and I'm kind of procrastinating right now. I'm stacking the Sketch Challenge with the Praise Page Challenge and probably will work the Flowers and Bling one in there too.

I've only got the papers glued up, but at this point I'm kind of wishing I'd done a "neutral" this month for monochrome because the olive and beige certainly is -- neutral. I'm sure that once I get the photo on, it'll look way different, but right now, it looks like a jar of baby food peas. lol

I thought about doing the praise challenge, but I have other challenges to get done this month...and wasn't sure if I would get those done... but it looks like alot of fun!!

That was some super reflective paper!! I bought a few colors and have had them for a while. The foil papers are so strong that they take over the lo...I am experimenting with them now to see what I can make! ;-)

I find the Praise Page challenge "peaceful." It helps me center myself.

I'm beginning to like my "baby peas" page much better. I got the photo on, and did a little dry embossing and it looks MUCH improved. Just some flourishing and embellishments - oh, and a tag and title, and it'll be done. Maybe by the end of tonight.

I also HAVE to finish my Scrap Pink Silent Auction page by this evening.

No pressure. nope. none at all......

I'm going to get the front page updated this weekend, I promise. DH and I are getting ready to run to Midwest City. I have to get some brads and assorted stuff for my LSS teaching project tomorrow.

Have a great scrappy evening everyone!

I am at a loss with the soccer...I have scrapped her soccer team two years now...and this will be the third. I guess its just been hard to get motivated because I haven't seen anything new and exciting as far as soccer embellies go...
:-(

I'll get a hold of myself and get it done this week for sure...lol

I feel the same way about softball embellies, no one has come up with anything new and exciting in a couple years

Here is my week 2 LO. I used the word fall for my title. Not sure if that is enough to count as the twist.
