LOL Ooooh. Stuffed animals!!! I have a huge Christmas list for the kids. Was trying to limit it to $150 per kid but those Wii games are so $$$. Sigh. Are you buying yourself the Glee game? I so totally am. Merry Christmas to me! LOL

[ quote=Heather J. Landry]
[ quote=Heather J. Landry]Hit send too early!

Marlene,

Lexie still has no eyelashes and she's started work on her eyebrows too. It just breaks my heart. She gets really mad at us if we mention it. Of course, she gets mad at everything so it's really par for the course. Her therapist asked her today why she's so angry. She said it's because her parents are so mean to her. I can hear everything through the wall when I sit in the other room. She said Ronnie yells at her for no reason. She didn't mention all the stuff that she does that makes him yell. Sigh.
The therapist touches base with you, doesn't he/she?
Yes, she does. I sit and chat for the first 20 minutes with her and then I leave and Lexie stays. She definitely has some interesting things that I hadn't thought of. She says when Alexis is raging and hurting herself or others to throw her in a cold shower. Hmmm.
What?! Maybe it's just to shock her. Sort of like when you slap a hysterical person? NO, I am not suggesting you do that!
Yep. Exactly. She said it's like a snowball rolling down a hill gathering strength and you interrupt it so it doesn't get worse. She also said instead of the cold shower I could spray her with cold water. Ronnie now wants to buy a super soaker. LMAO
Seriously, then she'll be angry and wet...

There has to be other options. I get what she is getting at but I think that is a bit abusive. You squirt a dog...

Maybe I am out of line though. If it helps then it may be worth it.

Yep, I am a teeter-totter.
Well that was my thought too. We kind of kid around about it because if we don't laugh we'll cry about it all the time. I asked what else I could do. I found it a bit absurd. She said that I could also put her in a child seat and just let her throw her tantrum. I said... ummm she's 8. She knows how to open those things. Plus, have you ever tried to get a mad kid in a car seat? I'm liable to get punched. She's getting bigger and I'm worried for the other kid's safety and mine.

That's what normally happens. We drop him off on the way down to my grandparents. She's pitching a fit. I'm fixing to show her a fit. Like I said I'm so done with this. I know it's b/c I pitched a fit and told SIL off. So now I'm being punished. Screw that.

Yep. There is a Glee game for Wii. A singing one. I don't know if there are any other platforms though. Check it out!

It's very scary for her when she goes out of control like that. I know that she doesn't want to be this way. She doesn't cry over it or anything but if you look in her eyes when she's lashing out like this she looks filled with panic. It's really getting hard. I'm am SO dreading the teen years.

Marlene, sure hope you don't get sick.

I know how hard it is to take care of your mother. I use to do it all the time and got so fed up with it and worn out. So then my brother took over for a year, he got fed up. My mom is worse then a 2 year old child, she don't get her way, she throws a tantrum. I don't have a car seat for her, but we have to push her in a wheel chair, so like a stroller LOL. And my mom weighs over 400 lbs. I can not push her with my back, I always have to find someone else to do it.

Ok ladies, I am just about out of here. I have finished my work for the day and the boredom is KILLING me! Plus my Cricut should be at home... but that has nothing to do with it. Really, it doesn't.

I'll be back Thursday night. I don't work tomorrow because I will be attending the school's holiday sing-a-long which Danny has told me on several occasions that he definitely will not be singing. I don't care if he doesn't sing just as long as he doesn't cry or strip. He's done both in the past.

Take care everyone!

Heather I agree with Shannon about how scarey it must be to be responsible for a child with mental health issues. My dd was terrible and still has a quick temper without the extra issues, I commend you.

Well, as you can probably tell the internet is free at this hotel.

We are both so tired. The train trip wasn't as exciting as we thought it would be because the weather was so bad everything was grey and dismal,it rained the whole way and we haven't even gone out to dinner tonight we just ate at the restaurant here and were very disappointed with it unforuntely, at least we didn't get wet.
The train is a great way to travel, we were very comfortable but Bob's back is really bad, he has booked into a chiropractor tomorrow, just all the walking we did in Seattle I reckon. Not sure what we will do tomorrow morning, I'm hoping to get on a shopping tour that takes in the outlets, that way we will be back in time for dh to go to chiropractor in afternoon, and hey!! I can just keep shopping while he is there. I haven't bought much at all even though it may sound like i have been shopping a lot...been doing a lot of looking, but Oregon is tax free so this could be my chance. Weather is going to be rotten again tomorrow thats why I haven't mentioned going on a tour, no good if you can't get out of the bus due to the rain, or see out the window past your nose because of the fogged up windows, it is meant to improve Thurs/Fri so intend to book tours on those days.

She'll be 9 in a few days. Yvonne, in a way I can see why it would work. I just haven't brought myself to do it yet. Last night she flat out refused to do her homework so I sent her to her room to lay down. She was throwing things and screams!

It really is. It's hard to keep in mind that all of the meanness and anger is coming from her mental health issues and not just from a desire of hers to be difficult. I have a temper myself so I get to the point where I give myself time outs. I send her to her room and I go to mine!

I'm going to tell them to get bent. She called here yesterday by "accident". She called the wrong number she said. Then when I brought up Christmas Eve she said... "Oh let's not talk about it! We'll work something out". Which means she doesn't want to talk to me about it. She wants to manipulate Ronnie. It makes things difficult for our marriage and it's so not fair!

Busy morning here!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I'm sure it will take me a bit to figure out who's who.

Hi Leslie. I hope you are enjoying your trip!

A bit about myself. I'm married with three kids. A boy Trevor who's 4 and two girls Rachel who's 2 and Aly who is almost 5 months. I work full-time for a non-profit as a finance assistant. I love scrapping but it sure is hard to find time to get much of it done.

I can't wait to get to know everyone!

I'm Marlene, I have two adult children, Kyle is 25 and Matty is 23. Kyle is currently serving in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua and Matty, who lives nearby, is finishing her last year of college. My husband is going to retire on January 1st. I work as an admin. asst. for a public defender and looking to retire next Jan. 01. I have trouble finding time to scrap, too.

I haven't been able to scrap this week at all. My mom is doing better but I still have to check on her. I don't think she is going to be able to live alone much longer. She has already pretty much given up driving.

Primary colors. Red/blue/green/yellow. A wall of each. It's pretty wild in there!!

I'm in Central Wisconsin. Wausau is probably the biggest city near me. I live in a small rural area.

I live in Milligan Nebraska. I am divorced. I live with my boyfriend of 18 years. I have a son Brian, who is 23 and will be getting married in July 2011 to his girlfriend Brianna. I am really excited to scrap that. I have 2 daughters, Krystal, who is 20 and goes to college for early childhood education. She will graduate in Dec. 2011. Brittni, who is 16. She is a Junior in high school. My boyfriend, Doug, is a truck driver and isn't home very much during the week. He use to go to Wisconsin a lot but not so much anymore. I am a stay at home mom. I don't scrap very much. I try but it just doesn't get done. I am a very very slow scrapper. LOL I am a licensed cosmetologist and an EMT.

We morphed from two different groups. Yvonne and I are original, Lesley not far behind, then Shannon then Heather. All of us have been together about 3 years I think.

Lesley is touring the Northwest U.S. First they were in Seattle, Washington then took a train to Portland which is where they are now. I think they'll go back up to Erin's in a day or so. I can't believe Lesley is giving up any Henry time.

Luzma - I wish you were here to help me with some ribbon or fiber, the page I am working on could use some but I can never think of what to do. Dang, I'll have to come to Santiago.

I updated the front page. I was misinformed one of the other original members is Carrie (Meak72) she just went back to work and is too busy to check often.

I was wondering if the ladies in this group would like to do a challenge for 2011. We would set a goal for how many layouts, mini albums, altered items we want to do for 2011 and then at the end of the year, see who meets their goal.

We could even make an album in our own galleries to put the layouts into called "2011 Goal".

No matter what, I think I am going to do this goal. HEHE

Heather - are things always tense around Alexis? Are there periods of serenity?

I would say honestly theres about 20% serenity and 80% all the rest. I wish I could say it's better than that but it isn't. Sigh. It'll all be okay. I'll just keep trying and bugging people for help and answers.

I did have a huge breakdown the other day. After I told my new neighbor about Alexis being bipolar she told me that her brother and sister WERE bipolar too. They committed suicide. I went home and cried. I really didn't need to hear that.

I'm Heather. I'm married and have 3 kids too. I have Alexis who's 8, Jordan who's 6, and Brandon who's 3. Two of my kids are special needs and we are always at appointments of some sort so I can't hold a full time job. I hear you on having a hard time trying to find time to scrap. I have that problem too!!

I'm really glad to "meet" you!

Marlene, I thought about you today as far as how you're looking forward to retirement. My grandma just put in her month's notice. I thought she was going to work forever! She's 70 and is a home health nurse. She finally had enough and decided she wants to stay home and scrapbook. LOL

I haven't been able to scrap this week at all. My mom is doing better but I still have to check on her. I don't think she is going to be able to live alone much longer. She has already pretty much given up driving.

I'm sorry you haven't been able to scrap! I'm really glad that your Mom is starting to do better. She really needs to move in with your sister so she can take a turn taking care of her! Maybe you two could each take 6 mos. a year? I just don't think it's fair that all of her care falls on you. I hope you get some scrappy time soon!

I'm in Central Wisconsin. Wausau is probably the biggest city near me. I live in a small rural area.

I love bright colors. Green is my favorite! I bet the playroom looks awesome!

I've been doing something similar to that for a few months with a few friends. Only it's a monthly goal. Like I say... I'll scrap 30 photos this month, and then I try to get there! One month a few years ago I did 60. Never again. That's too much. LOL

I have GREAT news. I finally finished that Project 365 album from 2009. I sat down today and ignored everything and finished the 3 remaining months of journaling! I will be SO glad to go back to "regular" scrapbook pages. Then it took me about 2 hours to load it all into my gallery. My hand seriously hurts from all of that writing. I am just grateful it's finished!!!

I pulled some Geo-Hectic paper out to use on a pumpkin patch layout. I may try to stay up late tonight and do it. Tomorrow is therapy day. PT, OT, and hippotherapy for Jordan. If nothing else I'll get some reading done.

I'd probably be up for something like that. Not saying I'd met it but it's worth a try. Also I pretty much only do los so I wouldn't be able to have a goal for minis or altered items.

Hi everyone...Yvonne have you checked out my signature?....it's such a joke, I started the year with such great plans and great intentions and encouragement from someone else....and I must be honest and say I haven't met any of my objectives...think it hindered me more than anything...going to have to leave the same ones there and just change the year to 2011 or 2012 I think hehehe..

Marlene....this was probably going to be my only chance to come to Oregon and don't forget this is where my g-g-aunt came with her American husband in 1850's on the Oregon Trail all the way from New York....unfortunately the town that her husband actuall designed and laid out Pendleton, is out of our reach without driving there and Mt Hood where there is also a lot of family history is going to also be out of reach thanks to the dumb tour companies here, so I may as well have not wasted my time coming here. Right now I would gladly hop back on the train and head up to Erin's, but she has just had Jarrod's mum there, and is also going to have us for nearly 4 wks and Katie and Jeremy as well.....really is a bit much, I mean, it doesn't seem it now....but I know what it gets like and I don't want our time with them to be spoilt by us being there too long in one go.....nearly 4 wks is long enough and it will hopefully be quality time.

We seem to not have the problems with J now like we used to, think he and us are more tolerant now, but don't want to push too much of a good thing if you know what I mean. I can't wait to get there though and it's only 2 days now.

Well we slept in today again, can't get over that I am sleeping in so much, the jet lag is obviously hanging around. Mind you, I woke in the middle of the night imagining all sorts of weird stuff and couldn't get back to sleep for quite a while.

We skipped breakfast by the time we got downtown and just had an early lunch, Bob's back was so bad he came back to the Hotel while I window shopped a bit, lots of things I liked and would loved to have bought but have to remember how much longer we still have to go here. He made an appointment with a chiropractor for his back and he helped heaps, he had a little time left before his next appointment so he fitted me in briefly, just enough to loosen my back up, I could have gone without it as I'm not having any problems but couldn't believe how much looser it felt afterwards.

Late afternoon by the time we got back and I tried the stupid, useless, tour companies again, still no luck, they just don't return my calls. Checked with reception downstairs and asked them 'how on earth do you get in touch with these darn tour companies' they said tomorrow they will speak to their assistant manager, I think they could tell how frustrated I was getting. So another day coming up with no plans to be able to go see the countryside, I am more than mad about that.

Well, I need to get to bed, it is almost 12:30 AM and I am tired. I am going to work on a mini album tomorrow using Olivia Bo Bunny. It is a kit type thing on their blog.
