ATCs (artist trading cards) are mini works of art (think mini layouts) that are fun to trade and share with other people for inspiration. They can also be a good way to experiment with new techniques but in a small format. ATCs must be 2.5x3.5 (same size as baseball cards) and are always traded, never sold. See below, or in my ATC album in my gallery, for examples of ATCs.

Have some fun, and join this ATC swap! The topic is a suggestion by TheEllenB - make an ATC(s) about one of your childhood faves - food, book, doll, etc.

This swap is open to 15 people - you will make 1 ATC for each person in the group, including yourself. You can make 15 identical cards, 15 different cards, or some combination therein. Please read through all the rules/guidelines included in this post. They are here to help you understand what is expected of you by me and your fellow swappers. They are important.

Deadline to sign up: Feb 14 or until filled
Due Date: April 14

Spin me Round Atc By Tina Scraps

*Cards need to be at least cardstock weight, not just pp.
*You MUST use at least 2 techniques/embellishments on each card (examples are -- but are not limited to: flowers, metal, ink, ribbon, fiber, buttons, doodling, brads, chalk, stamping, flocking, alcohol inks, ETC.) At least ONE element must be dimensional, ie buttons, ribbon, brads, etc.
*EVERY card needs to have your name and screen name on the back.
*you must include a card for yourself, to make swapping easier for me.

Please do your best work. This means making sure all text is spelled correctly, stamped images are clean/neat, cuts are straight, etc.

Mailing:
*When you're ready to mail, please pm me for my address.
*Protect your cards from damage - use padded envelope or bubble wrap, and mark the envelope "do not bend".
*include the same amount of postage that it cost you to mail to me plus an extra stamp in case you get back heavier cards
*include a return address label, and envie. If no return envie is included, I'll try to re-use the one that was sent, provided it wasn't too damaged in the mail.

I'm starting on mine this weekend. I know I am obnoxious but will probably have them ready to send by next week! BTW my classmates always hated me cause I was always the first person to hand in my projects/papers!

Tina, ROFL!!! You know I hate that I am so anal (OCD) about deadlines. It really takes away from the fun of swapping for me. I'm the kind of person who NEVER waits for the last minute to do anything...except pack for a trip. I have found that when I pack early it really takes away from the pleasure of anticipation of traveling. Now, if I could only do that with swaps...

Lacey,
One of my most precious childhood memories is having my mother read to us a chapter from the Bobbsey Twins every night. I don't have any of my books but have purchased some from old book stores and garage sales. I am taking one from the 50's and using that for the backdrop of my cards. The rest will be a surprise but I hope everyone enjoys one of my favorite memories.

That is a great idea! It seems like lately all the toys from when I was young are starting to make a come back. If you go to Toy r Us you will find all kinds of toys from the 80's. Hmm....I love your book pages idea. I'll keep brainstorming.

I remember reading bobbsey twin books! and sweet valley high/twins, and nancy drew. I was actually thinking of doing my cards about the nancy drew books.

about 7-8 years ago, I went to a visit a friend who had moved to NY, and we stopped in the FAO schwartz store. would you believe it was practically all toys from when I was a kid (in the 80s). cabbage patch dolls, he-man stuff, and I can't remember what else. I was completely surprised.

Sandy, not fair! I own the crown for sending in first and you will have to fight me on this! I will work on them this weekend and guess I will just have to get to the post office before you do. :-) Actually, I am just joking and am thrilled that there is someone like me who feels the need to finish projects super quickly. I will happily hand over the crown - it is well deserved!

Oh, Tina :-) you are so talented! I just adore your ATC and wish I was in your swap. Meanwhile it looks as if you get to keep the CROWN...for now. I finished all the cards but still have to tape the "made by" thingy on the back, pack everything up and mail. Guess it will have to wait until next weekend...

I'm no expert but yes, they are plain. I think most ladies put their name, the name of the ATC and the number - if they are one of a limited edition. They make rubber stamps but I just use a copy of a stamp. Funk it up!!

I actually have a couple of stamps that are templates for the back of ATCs, that include the basics like your name, title of card, number, date, etc. one of them has thumbprints on it and says "evidence of an artistic life".

I got a Cosmo Cricket paper set on sale at Ms that has some images that I want to use, I think they'll be a nice addition. Other than that, I've thought about cutting some items on the Cricut...

most of the favorites I've come up with so far have been books - nancy drew, sweet valley twins/high, elfquest comic books, etc. I was a bookworm as a kid, so that shouldn't surprise me, but now I'm on a mission to think of things besides books.

I remember watching lots of tv. my dad says I loved the brady bunch, but I don't have any specific memory of that.

it did also occur to me that I collected garbage pail kids (eewww) and my little ponies, so those are other options.

America had tv for years before we did, I think we only got tv in about 1975. We did enjoy the Brady Bunch too and I loved my Barbie Dolls. Good to reminisce about things we did and loved

That's why I made a different ATC for each memory. There are so many things I remember too.

I found some very pretty papers at the Expo on Friday, I am thinking of using a few for my ATC's - they're just so cute!!

oohhhhh renbear - you reminded me of things I haven't thought of in ages! your list got my memories flowing. care bears, monchichi, cooties, mousetrap, Perfection, hungry hippos. then got me to remember that I collected "my little pony" for a while, and these "sea wee" dolls.
