OK, I searched and found a dozen threads on STORING nesties,,,,,,

but nothing on the "best" ones to buy.

Obviously, that's a personal choice, but I want to build a small stash of the ones I might use most often,,,,,,today I bought these,,

tell me what your favorite set/s are and why??

Labels Four is my fave, and that's one you got.

I don't have many yet but of the ones I do have this one is my favorite so far. They make great frames, mats and journaling spots.

I use these a lot.

BTW, the nestabilities fit in the Big Red. That's what I use for mine. I don't have the Grand Calibur yet. The larger nesties fit it in it (I can't remember what they are called...grand, maybe?) but are too big for some other machines.

Melissa, be careful, they're addictive!!! I have tons of them and I want most of the newest ones, too. If you make cards as much as I do, you end up feeling like you must have them all to cut out your stamped images. At least, that's how I feel! LOL

I have these 3 and Labels Two which I can't seem to find on here. I haven't had any of them very long but I've used them all a lot. I think top of my wishlist is Deckled Ovals, Wonky Rectangles and Reverse Wonky Rectangles. And then a few others I use them for mats, journalling pieces, and to cut shapes for cards.

Now the only question is...Cuttlebug or Sizzix?

I asked (read begged) for an Expression already. I think this may push my poor dh over the edge.

I like my sizzix big shot,,,,,

great machine and very stable on my wood table,,,,,the cb doesn't stick well to wood as near as I can understand,,,,,,,I got the sizzix for less than 60 bucks with a 40% off coupon at M's. The CB takes up a bit less space when stored though,,,both good machines.

where do you get a set of 4? do they have them here? I didn't see them,,,,,

The ones I've found the most versatile are the labels 4, labels 1, and circle and ovals and scalloped circles and scalloped ovals. I'd love to buy them in sets of 4, but I haven't been able to yet. What you need to be careful about when buying them (you may know this already, Holly) is that if you want to layer the circle with the scalloped circle (or oval with scalloped oval, square, rectangle, etc), and if you like the scallop to just peek out from behind the circle, you need to be sure you get both sets in either the "large" or both sets in the "small." If you get the circles in large and the scalloped circles in small (or vice versa), they won't layer as nicely. If you get the set of 4, you've got them all, so no worries, I've seen the sets of 4 at Overstock, but it wasn;t a good deal for Canada (story of my life).

I'm putting just a sampling of cards I've made with just Labels1, labels 4, circles large, scalloped circles large, ovals large, and scalloped ovals large. For a long time those were the only 6 nesties I had, and i made a tonne of cards with them:

Using circles large, scalloped circles large, and labels 1:

Using circles large with a labels 4 tucked behind (one of my favourite combos):

Ooooohhhh Nesties...

I have a lot, but I tend to use the same ones over and over it seems, unless I have a special project that calls for a unique shape.

These are my go-to dies linked below. I also love some that aren't offered here like:
Labels Five, Six, Eight, Nine and Curved Rectangles...LOL, and don't EVEN get me started on Shapeabilities and Borderabilities!

I definitely want the labels 1, the beaded ovals and the eyelet circles!!!!!

thanks ladies,,,,,,,beautiful cards Tracy!!!!

that's what I was thinking, Amy,,,that I should at least START with the ones I will probably use most,,,which is subjective, of course, but when you hear over and over again that people really love the labels 4, for instance, you probably can not go wrong. Glad I bought those!

My favorites are
Flying beauties (love butterflies)
Jumbo Oval Scallop
FLoral Doiley Motifs & Accents (the Parisian and Fleur de lis are just as nice too)
Fleur de lis pendant
Rose Creations (Holly you will love making flowers with these, they are good for very dimensional ones)
Blossom 2 (My favorite for less bulky but still dimensional flowers)
Timeless Heritage

And here is my new favorite storage method. Take magnetic sheets and put them in each pocket and you can get four sets per pocket. My binder has 13 full pockets in it so thats a lot of dies and its easy to flip through and more compact than the CD's. I really need to take a picture of mine but it is great.

Yes I was about to edit my post to tell you that, I also love the lacy circle and square templates. FYI if anyone wants a great source for getting them PM me. I buy mine from a lady with great prices and service too. She will order what she doesn't have in stock and only charges actual postage so if you are international this is really good but even for the US her prices are good.

Holly...I think you're on the Gulf Coast somewhere...if you ever get down to Sarasota, the 1st exit off I-75 (University PKWY) they have a M's your 1st light off the exit heading west on the left in the Target shopping center. That's where I got my Spellbinders dies. Good luck with your quest to create a nice collection!

My J's doesn't have them with the scrap stuff but over by something like gift wrap or something (?)

No where near the scrap dept.

In the same aisle is Martha stewart punches and such.

Very strange, if ya ask me.
And it's even a superstore, you would think their scrap dept would be big enough to keep this all together. I didn't even know it was there, I just happen to cruise by it one day.

They have Nestabilities at ACM's now, and they were on sale for 40% off last week ... I was tempted by them, but I have to be honest ...

if you have a Cricut for cutting (and I do) and a Cuttlebug for embossing (and I do), why do I need these?

Ohhh Corrie, thanks for sharing this. I do the cd cases right now, but the little box I keep them in is full(and I only have 10 sets in it.) and I have one labels set that is too long to fit in the cd case. Where do you get the magnetic sheets?

It is not really a NEED but it is nice to have the nesties. I like to use them to cut fabric without having to stiffen or back the fabric. Also, I don't know about your Cricut, but one of mine does not make true circles under a two inches; they are more oval like. I only have a few nesties, but I do love the few I have!

I also have the Cricut E and a Cuttlebug (which is what I use to cut me Spellbinders Dies). In my case, I have my scrap area set up in a w/in closet and I put my Cricut in the bedroom away from my scrap desk, so I'm not using it as much as I should.....even though I keep it on my dressing table ready to go. It's easier to grab a Spellbinders Die off my w/in closet pocket door that I put magnetic strips on and then put the dies on that.....than go through my Gypsy looking for the cartridge image I want to use.....I'm pretty lazy like that....lol!!!

Also, the Spellbinders dies cut AND emboss, so it's different than cutting out the shape with a Cricut. You can also cut things that can be difficult or even impossible for the cricut such as: Thin metals and acetate, foam, felt, cloth.

Oh...I totally agree with you...the Spellbinder's dies are an awesome addition to your scrapping arsenal!!! I was actually quoting Madmatter and while eliminating part of the quote, had cut off the part that showed her name.

I don't own any (yet!) However, I've always wanted the Labels 1 Set to start.

Soon to be followed by the Lacey Circles & Eyelets.

I'm glad I can't see the Heritage one that Holly speaks of. Otherwise, I already know I'd want that one as well!

Mad, they emboss the edges, which gives it such a nice crisp, clean look,,,,,

admittedly you can get similar shapes on many carts (my favorite of which is storybook),,,,,

and that is the reason I don't think I need tons and tons of them,,,,,,

but the nice beveled edge is so crisp and clean it's nice to have several sets that I'd use a lot, I think,,,,,,,especially for stamps and sentiment stamps.

I was also going to add what Chansgram said.. our J's superstore has these on an aisle FAR away from the scrapbooking stuff; right beyond the seasonal merchandise. VERY odd location.

I have heard that in the states you can get magnetic vent covering at Home Depot and cut it to size. They don't sell it at ours so I got magnetic adhesive sheets from the dollar store but I need two per pocket since the dies won't stick to the other side. I love this method and even DH said it was easier to find stuff (He used my stash to make me a mother's day card). If I have 13 pockets with 4 sets in each you can imagine how many CD cases that would take but my CD container was full before the new sets arrived.

YOu can also use these pockets for stamps and cuttlebug dies

I store mine in one of those 12x12 Iris cases that you get at M's. I saw the idea on another forum. You can get self-adhesive magnet sheets at AC Moore (that's where I got them, anyway). I cut them to size and put one down in each side of the Iris box. Then I took a 12x12 piece of thick chipboard and put magnet on it, too. It lays right down inside the Iris box. I need another one now, because I have so many of these dies. I want more, though. I want a lot of the new ones that were released this spring. I want, I want, I want!

For any of you who live in the Balto/Wash area of Maryland, the Michael's on 301 in Crofton has a lot of the Nesties, including some of the newer ones.

You definitely NEED them Hols! I NEED the lacey circles and squares but refuse to pay full price for them. I have never paid full price for any I have. So I guess I'll have to wait to see if ACM, J's or HL gets them. Our M's don't sell them. The one closest to me doesn't even have the Tim Holtz stuff(of course my mom found it at the other one in the area but it is all the older stuff that I already have).

I guess more importantly I need to get a new storage system in place as my box I keep them in is full and my one label set doesnt fit the cd cases. I liked the Kasierkraft book Corrie posted about but see the store here has it but not the pockets. I saw at OfficeMax and Staples small binders that we look at as they are the perfect size to store the tim holtz stampers anonymous stamps. I think they would be perfect for the nesties too. At staples I even saw the page protectors for that size. Just have to find a cheap source of magnet sheet. I'll have to check home depot or lowes for that magnet vent covering that was mentioned.

They do? You enabler you.

I have the Cricut and the cuttlebug and the craft robo but I really want the nesties because they go so nicely around stamps and it's so easy to center the stamps with the nesties. I use a ton of digital stamps by the way.
