Courtney, will you be scrapping today? I need to get my chores done so I can play today, I'm feeling quite crafty.

lol Kelly....you are doing really well this month!! I wish I could say the same.

Unfortunately i did not get ANY scrapping done today. And i didnt do my chores either hahah!! I slept until 11 oclock this morning which I never ever ever do, but i really needed it...and then i went and had lunch with the hubby at the bait store, and then I finally uploaded 3 of the layouts i did this weekend....one is still fermenting and the other one i can't reveal yet because its for a challenge...hopefully i will get some scrappy time in soon! I have an extremely busy week this week!!! Hopefully some fun times to be had though!

I'm acu and back from the weekend! I'm jealously stalking what all you guys bought! Lucky!! Since I won some $$ from the casino this weekend, does that mean I can use it for scrappy stuff free of charge to my budget?? You know I had to ask! LOL (It was only $20 on the penny slots, but still! Big Spender here! )

Kelly - wow... 110 is childs play?! Bleh, my sympathies! Actually NV/AZ wasn't that hot this weekend... It was overcast and rained on us Saturday during the float, but was a LOT better than sweltering and muggy! Even saw some lightening in the distance!

Vivian - if it helps I had several drinks in your honor this weekend... as well as everyone elses' honor I could think of! LOL Not to mention a couple of buffets to break whatever diet I was trying to maintain...

Tina - $20 for four Cartridges?!? WOW you got a steal!!

Shayla - LOVING those MME paper pads! Oohhh if I could just break my twist... I need no paper... I need no paper...

Think I'm acu now... Here's a couple pix of the float. (Only showing one, though I added 3 to save space!)
Regata 2011 - Upstream By SonjaC
We had a lot of fun! They estimated 15,000 and there actually were close to 26,000 people there! We were near the front so avoided the heaviest crowd at least. Definitely want to do that again!
Happy Monday all!

My carts were at Menards on sale for $24.99 with a $19.99 rebate. I read about it online and made my hubby drive me to two of them:) since we were close. The rebate was for Aug 12-14 only.

me neither but I read it here in the general forum:)
It was a bit of a hassle tho. Hard to find, everyone was very helpful, but it took several employees to find them. I don't think they are a regular item. Well worth the time tho!

It all started innocently enough. I went to make a card and realized I was out of cream cardstock. How did that happen? Went to HL and picked up a pack of cream cardstock, and then tossed in a large pack of black Prima Say it in Crystals, several more packs of bling in gold (hey Christmas is coming up). 3D binders are 50% off and who doesn't need those? A few Copics some how jumped in my cart after I got the nice man to unlock the case for me, and a roll of ribbon. After that I went to J's and saw the DCWV solid colored cardstock stacks that match the fall and Halloween stacks. I don't even use stacks but since the printed, patterened stacks were already sold out I became obsessed with them and bought the two solid card stacks. Next a punch hopped into my cart along with two more packs of cream card stock because you can't ever have enough of that, right? A few Halloween dollar punches might have found their way into my cart as well along with some ink, and six mini rolls of ribbon.

Came home, had dinner, obsessed about DCWV stacks that I don't use and went to another J's for dessert. Found the DCWV stacks that I will never peel the tape off of and tossed them into my cart. Added another punch, a ton of stamps, and a pair of pajama bottoms. (WTF?) Why does J's even have pajama bottoms? Now I have six bags of ******** to put away and no where to put it so I have to go to M's and buy more Jetmax cubes...

I'm beyond pathetic. I still can't believe I bought all those DCWV stacks. I swear it was the thrill of the hunt. They'll be full of dust in a few weeks...

Maybe I'll dump all the bags in the middle of the floor in my scraproom and take a photo of all the junk I bought just to embarrass myself.

O.M.G. Kelly!!! I was seriously falling off my chair laughing while reading your posts at the office! My co-workers are considering having me committed...
You poor thing! Yet, I'd bet my entire SOD kit that we've all been there at least once! You go in there for one darn thing and leave with two bags! I am laughing still, but hanging my head b/c I know I've been there too! Put those DCWV pads somewhere you can see them so you feel forced to use them! (I suggest that, but I have several with the sticker still on them burried in my storage box... )

I did see those on sale last night actually. I walked up to the J's near our house last night with the DH to look at halloween costume ideas. I only brought my 'emergency' $5 and only got a pack of stickers I think will look good with the August SOD kit (It arrives today!!!!!!!!!) for $1 from the clearance bin!

My big test will come Friday night, I'm going to the Crop Night at M's with some co-workers and they offer 10% off for crop participants on everything including sale stuff!

Kelly you are too funny, but exactly like me. I can head into a store only wanting one tiny thing, remembering my scraproom is overflowing then buy and buy and buy. I am cussing myself out today because I have no room yet am going shopping tomorrow! And I cannot resist those paper packs when I find them at $6 each.

I took a picture. The stack of supplies is disgusting. I feel like I went to the all-you-can eat buffet and ate enough for the month. I might have overdosed on scrap supplies.

Well Kelly you didn't really eat it yet you just put it on your plate.. except unlike a buffet you could *whispers: take things back* I mean if you feel that bad about having it.. but I think this feeling will pass. But then again I am the one who busted my budget buying my twist.... and lots of it! I Might not be the best one to give advice

Its so refreshing to know we can all out-justify each other's purchases... LOL
Sure we can take 'em back, but the way I look at it, I may need them sometime and never know it until they'r gone! Of course it could also be that whenever I do try to take a $10, $5, $2 or whatever item back, I end up buying something else and completely offsetting the whole purpose of returning something!

By the way, don't forget to take a dollar off my budget, Courtney! Stupid dollar bin

Puh-leeeeeze, after I spent several hours reorganizing my scrap room to make my purchases fit, there is no way it's going back. And believe me when I say it's cheaper for me to keep them than to venture back into Joann's and HL. Much cheaper. Now lets pray I survive Ms. I have 40% off coupon too. I can do it.

I would like to know Vivian's rule - I have one too - if you are not currently working on something you need it for - you cannot buy it!!!! Although I am avoiding the Prima like crazy cause I did see some of it and oooooohhhhhhhh wouldn't that be good for some such layout some time)....

My mom had that twice. Not fun

Ok - my arm really hurts - you guys have been twisting it

My rules (they go together). #1. I don't buy something online until I've received the last package I ordered. #2. I don't buy anything new until I've used the last thing I've bought.

It ain't perfect (and I don't 100% always succeed) - but it really really helps with "spending too much money sprees". It also really helps to not buy things I'm seriously not going to use or even like once I get it home.

Nice rules Vivian! I am good with the first not so much the 2nd lol.. I am seriously going to try that starting now! I haven't even put the new paper packs away yet!

Tammy I've had one so I know firsthand how "fun" the prep is :\ but I can honestly say that was the worst part of it all... Good luck!!

Best of luck Tammy with your colonoscopy..honestly the prep is the worst part of it...and have a great meal when its over!!

LMAO tina....i wish it worked for me cuz its a great plan!!!

Tanya, wow you have will power!!! well you still have a week and ahalf to shop LOL!!

unfortunately, I just bought Glimmer Glam from the Flower site cuz they were just too cheap to resist..yep didnt even think about it and pushed the button!! The good news is I didnt push the button on my huge cart i have going here at SB.com...i am waiting until payday next week!! MAYBE!!! lol im gonna try and be good...

My little trick (which obviously doesnt really work) LOL is I fill my cart with what I want when I walk around the store...then I go through each item and see if I really want it. I usually end up putting half the stuff back. If I am buying online (which I rarely do) I put it in my cart and let it sit for at least a day or 2 and then I revisit....This helps me not impulse buy too much...like i said it doesnt really work LOL...believe it or not it does LIMIT my spending a little...

I will not be around tomorrow, Artisan Show and Car Show in town that I am helping run...fun times!! Hope you all don't splurge too much!!

Oh dang it, Courtney!!!! You Evil Enabler you!! I just went to see that Flowers deal and am about to cave in... I really want more glazes and that's a fabulous deal! Grrrr Someone stop me!!

I will say though, that as much of an enabler as you are, you were right about the SOD kit! I added up what I've spent this month and compared it to last month and I'm down nearly 80%! Just got the kit yesterday and am DYING to play with it!! I LOOOVE the Flora set!! SQUEEEEE!!!!!

Vivian - Great rules! I am going to attempt to adopt at least #1! I'm such an impulse buyer (see above) I don't know if I can pull off #2... But those are great and good for you for the willpower!

Tammy - Hope your colonosopy goes well today.. well, as well as can be anyway. Both my parents have had them and each teased the other with good food when they knew they couldn't have any before the test! We joke that they are both perfect a-holes... Sick humor of my family really... Anyway, tough it out and enjoy something yummy afterwards!!!

Tanya - How nice of your bf!! Can't wait to see what you do with that kit! I can't ask for much from my dh, he just bought me my plane ticket to San Francisco for September to do a girls' weekend with my sister and two of my cousins! Can't wait! Humm.... maybe I can talk him into getting me those glimmer glazes too...

It's Friday!!!! And I've got a crop tonight at M's!!! I will resist... I will resist... I will resist...

Sonja...you totally crack me up!! I just didnt want to be alone in that great deal!! How could I not share with my favorite ladies!!!

I am glad you are spending less I know I definately am (even though I am still spending too much LOL)....Ok next month September I am going to be really really good (until the next really cool thing comes out)... Hey the first step is admitting you have a problem right I have a problem LOL

Enjoy your crop tonight at M's...cannot wait to see what you create!!

Vivian you have scared all of your fellow budgeters with rule #2 LOL...its a great rule but i dont think i could ever follow it!! Heck I made a rule that I wasnt allowed to buy any paper until I used half my stash...yeah well uhhh $50 in paper later im still buying paper...SOMEONE HELP ME!!! I still havent pushed the go button on my cart!!

And you shouldn't be alone (and probably won't if my impulse gets the better of me!) on that fab deal! I keep hitting 'I want it' and then chickening out... LOL

I already have my list for September actually... LOL Leave it to scrapbooking for me to actually plan something ahead!

Well my hubby got in trouble today and promptly bought me a new Coach purse. That will teach him to think he can use our bedroom as his workshop. Dear God, what is wrong with that man? Anyway, my new purse will probably control my spending urge for a while, and the good Lord knows that Coach is actually cheaper than scrap supplies. Hubby got lucky.

I saw the Flowers deal last night, but wasn't tempted. (thank goodness) I'm waiting for them to post the Glimmer Mists, and then I'm all over it. I love the Glimmer Glams too, but for some reason I'm not crazy about the glaze.

LOL - not use something til it's gone ladies!! But open it - use some part of it (if it's paper). For example, I've recently bought 5 bottles of distress stain and none have been opened yet. Really need to justify that purchase in some way . . .

So that way I'm not buying paper, tools, "stuff" with no hope of opening it or using it. Happened way too many times in the last 15 years and well . . . I really try to stick to my rules. It may be pretty, it may be on sale . . . but will I use it?

Another example, I totally admire crafters who use distressing techniques. Really like oogling TH's stuff . . . but I don't like to scrap that way. So I don't buy it . . . just admire it

I like your rules Vivian! I don't shop online so not too much danger there but it is a good one! And rule number 2 - I knew there was a loophole lol!

Anyway everything went really good yesterday - and yes the prep was the worst - funny thing is the sedative really only mellowed me and didn't kick into until well after so I got to watch the whole thing and it was kinda cool! (I know sick and I belong to the sick humour club too cause I told a friend that worst case at least no one could accuse me of feeling full of s*** lol).

Hope you are starting to feel better Tammy.

Courtney I shop like you do.

I spent $10 on a punch at J's. It was the new fall leaf one. I may take it back but it is so cute and I love fall:)

Hope you had a great meal Tammy after that horrible prep...

Vivian you are very disciplined!! Even if it is just to use a piece of something...I have gotten better at "this is really cool but will i USE it" If it is ink or paint though, i just cant resist LOL

There are so many new cute fall punches...I have found it hard to resist all the new great fall and halloween stuff....but i have nothing to scrap from halloween...maybe i need to have a halloween party LOL

I will be MIA most of the day today. Hope everyone has a fabulous saturday!!

So glad it went well, Tammy! I nearly spit my coffee out there when you said you weren't full of sh*t! LOLOLOL! Sounds like something my dad would say! Hope the results are good too!

Okay Vivian, that makes better sense! I like that and I 'sometimes' follow that, but I think I'll try even more now! Realizing how much stuff I really have!

Tina - I saw that punch too and nearly caved on it, but I didn't have a coupon. My own personal rule on bigger ticket items is, if I can't use a coupon on it, I'm not getting it! I hate paying full price for stuff and sometimes that's a good thing.

For example, I'm so proud of myself - I did not spend one penny last night at the crop!!!
That's never happened before, but I think this time it's cuz I had just gotten the SOD kit and spent most of the time playing with it. (I pretty much had no need to go downstairs!) But it's also b/c M's didn't have any good coupons...

And I resisted yesterday's Flowers deal too! at Courtney. Did you cave? Today's deal looks cool, but I don't have any idea how to use those Mix'd Media paints...

Hope everyone's having a great Saturday! I'm spending the day scrapping cuz I didn't get much done at last nights' crop... I spent most of the time teaching people how to use the Cricut! When did I become an expert? And when are they going to pay me for that?!

So I'll be around...

I'm not THAT disciplined! Just last month I spent $20 just to make one card. Granted, I technically opened and used everything I bought. But I do try to put it all in perspective. I can be just as much of an impulse shopper as anyone - but the rules really help reign it in.

Went to HL to see what all the rage is about and O. M. G!!!! AWESOME! I was pretty good, though. I was carrying around some ribbon and shinies but I put them back. I mostly stuck to what was on my list: diamond dust, case for my 120 colored pencils. Not on my list: 2 crackle paints (they were on clearance).

Sonja I won't pay full price for bigger ticket items either, actually unless I go to A's I don't pay full price for anything over $3. I only look at the sale items or buy with a coupon.

How is it that I can have dozens and dozens of ribbons, and have no brown or anything in fall colors. Really? How is that even possible?

us too Courtney - in Waterloo, Ontario - I am on the 19th floor so it really can be scary. They felt it all the way up to Ottawa (which is on the Ontario/Quebec border).

I used to live in California, so it probably wouldn't have even phased me, but I know my first earthquake scared the *&^*^ out of me. It's crazy how far that thing was felt. Glad you are all ok.

Courtney, good job at returning stuff and not buying stuff. I'm proud of you.

Sonja, let us know how you like the crop at Ms. Ours has them all the time, but I've never gone.

Phishaw! It was only a 5.8 ...
I'm totally kidding! They're scary no matter how small they are. To quote a comedian I like 'The earth done quaketh!' I've been in probably 10 or so, but most weren't over a 6.0.(Thankfully!)

Wow you felt it all the way in New Jersey and Ontario?! Hope you all are okay! Any damage? Being on the 19th floor was scary I'm sure, yikes Tammy! I was in one on the 15th floor and we moooved! The sacriest one was a 6.4 when I was in college. Walking to a class the earth started rolling like I was on a fun park ride. The scariest part was the 200-foot tall Douglas fur trees around me that wagged around like dog tails!!

Kelly - I've been to crops at M's before, just not at this particular one. They're kind of fun if 1. there are others and a host there; and 2. the space isn't too small. They usually set up a Cricut, Cuttlebug, Sizzix and punches/inks/stamps depending on what the place has on hand. And they usually also offer 10% off your purchases that day. The most dangerous part is that your IN the store!

Well hope you guys are okay - a bit shaken up I'm sure! That'll go away... in about a week! hehe

I was making cards last night, and realized I'm low on pop dots. This is not good, people. Nope, it's not good at all. I'm going to see if I can survive with what I have until September.

Our furniture is so NOT bolted down!! And we are far from prepared in terms of buildings and roads! They've been trying to rebuild our freeways and buildings to earthquake code, but alas... we're poor! (I kinda know the feeling actually... LOL) As for me, I do have a spare pair of tennis shoes, bottle of water, portable radio and change of clothing in my trunk, but that's about it...

Thanks a lot, by the way... Because of your earthquake, they are making a big huge stink out here about how prepared the West Coast is! Happens everytime someplace else has a quake, but nothing really changes!

And it has not been 100 years! They said 1964 on the news last night! BTW, I cracked up when they were interviewing a lady from Pasadena about earthquake preparations on the news. Someone got her 15 minutes of fame! LOL

Love how you clarified that... LOL

Kelly - I'm with you, I'm obsessed with punches right now.. bidding on a couple on Ebay at the moment that'll probably bust me...

Courtney - I'm about out of adhesive too... would you pick me up some? I'm too chicken to go into the store unsupervised... All the Fall stuff that's out is giving me the heebee geebees...

My boss lives in Cali and their furniture is all bolted down. And it is the first earthquake since 1894 in new jersey that was above a 1.7 lol.

So stop picking on us. There want any damage but it was crazy. I will probably never go through this again in my life I hope lol!

Oh, got it... You're specifying where you're from... got it! I think they said 1964 was the last one in DC... Wow, 1894, that has been a long time!

Seriously, that's the first I've ever heard of bolting down furniture! I can understand the TVs, computers and stereos, but furniture?!

I lived on the Hayward fault in Northern Cali and didn't have anything bolted down. I've had a few things break before, but never really worried about it.
