August Monos/Munchkins/Minis Swap

This swap is for Monos, Munchkins & Minis ……small die cuts or shapes much like inchies, twinchies & trinchies but with a bit of a twist!!

I caught a lot of heat last month for running an Inchie/twinchie/trinchie swap because we weren’t “doing it right”. So to avoid any further confusion or heat I have changed the name of our swap and as a group we have decided to continue on making our nontraditional inchie/twinchies/trinchie s but with a new name monos/munchkins/minis.

Traditional Inchies/Twinchies/Trinchi es are:
Inchie: 1 inch x 1 inch shape of your choice decorated with at least 2 embellishments
Twinchie: 2 inch x 2 inch shape of your choice decorated with at least 3 embellishments
Trinchie: 3 inch X 3 inch shape of your choice decorated with at least 4 embellishments
These are TOTALLY acceptable to make for this swap if that’s how you choose to do yours

or you can make…

Monos/Munchkins & Minis
Monos: 1” shape of your choice decorated with at least 2 embellishments
Munchkins: 2” shape of your choice decorated with at least 3 embellishments
Minis: 3” shape of your choice decorated with at least 4 embellishments

The big difference is that Monos/Munchkins/Minis do not have to be put on a base that is the same height & length (ex. 2” X 2” square). They can be any shape (ex. Grasshopper that is 3” tall but only 2” wide) more like an embellished die cut without a base!!

You can use anything you would like to embellish!! Your imagination is the only limit!! I will tell you that last month we had some AMAZING little treasures that were created!!!

When you are finished with your FABULOUS creations please put your items in a ziplock bag with the name of the swap, group it is for, your scrapbook.com ID and your name.

Include a self addressed envelope with the same amount of postage it took you to send as well as 3 extra stamps (any unused stamps will be returned) I don’t mind reusing envelopes just please make sure to send as much postage as it cost you to send the package plus 3 extra stamps. PLEASE include self addressed label STICKERS if you want me to reuse your envelope.

Due Date is September 1, 2011 PLEASE have them in my hands by that date!!!

Sign ups will be taken until August 15, 2011

I will pm you my mailing address when the swap has closed.

Please check in once a week and if you aren’t going to be able to meet the deadline just let me know as soon as possible so I can fill your spot.

There will be 10 people in each group. Please make 9 to swap ….one per person in your group. You do not need to send the 10th one to me just keep it if you choose to make one for yourself.

***If your group doesn't completely fill up***
You only need to send enough so that there is one for each person...not all 9. Ex. If you are in a group with 6 other people because its not full you only need to send 6 of the items you have made and keep the 7th one for yourself. There is no sense in paying for postage for items that will just be returned to you. Just keep track of how many are in your group. I will send you a pm when the swap closes to let you know how many ended up being in your group if it didn't fill up.

If a group fills up I will open a B group.
If you have any questions just ask this group of ladies is so wonderful, helpful & fun!!

Thanks so much for participating!! Have fun!!!!

P.S. Thanks to all the ladies who participated in last months swap. Your creations were AMAZING and it has been such a pleasure getting to know all of you!!!

So here's a wedding update:
26 days left!!! Yikes!
We did a walk through of the property to figure out where we want flowers and where I'll be walking down from! We also have the flower girls baskets made (my mom made them) Getting my ring picked up today, brian should be getting his on the weekend.
Still can't decide how I want the cake though!

I'm so excited!!! I have a couple of questions...

In the Fall groups can we do Halloween shapes or just other Fall shapes?

Besides using our Cricuts, may we also use other die cutting machines?

Hi Debby, you can use whatever you want, it doesn't have to be just a Cricut. You can hand design, use shrinky dinks, the skies the limit. They just have to stay within 1", 2"or 3".

Cassondra said next month, we're probably going to have a Halloween category. Check out last month's with pictures of some of the work every one did. Some really cute ones! Plus, Cassondra gave instructions on how to do a search of inchies, but our group is not as strict as inchies.

For the 1", I used a 1" hole punch then made a 2nd layer slightly smaller using my Silhouette, then I recently bought some fall buttons I still have to figure how I'm going to put them on!

what is the Cricut design studio??? some kind of software that you use with the cricut??

Does anyone mind if I take a picture of all the goodies from last months swap and post it just so others can see some of what we have done??

that would be so cool to live that close to someone on here.

Debby you did great with your first inchies!!! It's weird to work with an inch. My first attempt ended up being the twinchies! But they soon become addicting!

Cassondra, I think it would be cool to get a picture of them all together, then it saves us all from having to take pictures and I think we pretty much joined most of the groups both times anyway!

Cassondra - don't know if we're going on a honeymoon just yet. We generally travel with other people (even my parents) so we'll see what we come up with. I keep telling Brian that if there are other people there, besides him, that i know and see almost everyday, it's not a honeymoon!!!

Debby... love your inchies!!! super cute!

Don't worry, Debby, I'm sure more people will sign up and as we all make our first sets, some of will probably fill in some more of the other spots. If not, I'm sure Cassondra can mix and match for you to get more.

I've been working on my 3" in between cutting grass and doing laundry. Then I have to leave at 6 tonight to drive down to Columbus to pick up my daughter. I hope to scrap/craft all day tomorrow when I get home! I have to finish my flowers for the flower swap.

Drove back from Columbus, came home to use the bathroom, then my daughter and I went garage sale shopping again. She got a babysitting job, and this time I found a well needed craft table for $10!
I had to go home first and unload the car so I could put the seats down while the guy took the legs off. Get back to his house, it fit perfectly in my car and I thank him and drive down the road. Get to the stop sign and asked my daughter if I paid the guy. Check my pocket.. oops, there's my money, so we drove around the block and I drive up in front of his house and told him I didn't pay. He came out to the car and thanked me. He was selling off his mother's furniture. She had died 3 weeks before and I felt so sorry for him. I'm going to go relax some, been running around all day.

2 quick things!!

1.) I was thinking once you get your goodies from last months swap it would be fun to post photos of what you make with them....just stuff from our swaps though because I don't want it to get to carried away.

2.) Every Sunday I am going to start posting a "weigh in" kind of question just to get some chatter going and a weekly challenge. You certainly don't have to participate in any of these things....I just thought it would be fun and I guess we'll see how it goes!!! We'll keep it simple to start off and see who wants to play!!!

Week #1 Weigh In - I am curious to know how long it takes most of you (on average) to complete a LO, card or other project? Do you start & finish in the same setting or come back to it???

CHALLENGE: Complete some kind of project....ANYTHING GOES that is monchrome & show it off here!!!!

For vacation we are going about 4 hours away to stay in a hotel style cabin by some lakes. My hubby and boys love to fish and I watch and read. Very relaxing and peaceful. Our oldest lives near there and he can't take off work so will come visit us some evenings. No cabana boy this time, darnit:)

Week 1 weigh-in Love this idea by the way
I usually get an idea, work a while on it and come and go as I get a new lightbulb moment. Occassionally I do a Stacey's progressive challenge on sb.com and start and finish all in one sitting.

Wow, miss a day and it takes an hour to catch up! I'm loving my new craft table. I have plenty of room for my computer/printer AND to work on crafts. I spent the day cleaning my room, setting up my old desk in my daughter's room, then we went to the the grocery store and by the time we were done it was close to 11pm and we never ate so we went to Denny's and it was freezing cold and I came home worked on my MMM's. I'm bumming, With moving everything around, I misplaced 7 of my sparkly leaf buttons and two of my 3" ers. I still can't get them straight, mini munchie mono. Have fun Tina on your vacation.

Great buy on K& CO, Debby. I love their papers!

Weigh-in - It would depend on what I was working on. Some lo's can take forever, but I rarely put them aside and come back to it. If everything comes together, I can finish a lo in 20 min. For my fall mini's (3") I got my inspiration for this woman's gallery. When I get them done and post a picture, I'll give her credit. I sort of had the idea, then saw something she did similar and it was easy to finish the first part. I know what I want to make for my munchies, a barrel of apples, so I just need to gather the right colors and punch a gazillion apples. I'm drawing a blank for my inchies... both categories. The whales won't take long at all.

Wow, it's 3am.. better get some sleep.

Weigh in- It usually takes me most of a evening to do a lo.... Part of that time is finding just the right papers and cricut cartridges to use. (some times my Slice design cards)

Morning Ladies

Tina your vacation sounds nice and relaxing...hope you have a great time!!

Bon glad you found your way....LOL...I was missing you!!!!

Sally glad you are enjoying your new table....moving stuff around is always tough though for a few days....seems like everything is somewhere new and you can't find anything!! Hang in there!!!

Weigh in: When I first started I would start a LO....get stuck and then start another one....I now have about 15 - 20 LO's in a box that gradually I am forcing myself to go back and finish and now.....when I start a project I make myself finish it but it seems like it takes forever!!! It usually takes me a couple of hours or more to finish one....I guess I am just slow!! LOL

Going to the Big City today Wooo Hooooo!! I hope we have time to make a stop at Joanns....keep your fingers and toes crossed for me!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hi everyone!! I survived the bachelorette party!

It was soo much fun! My girls got me an at home massage and facial. And mani and pedi! then we got a limo to dinner and went dancing, didn't see and naked mans...lol although there was a guy at the club with very nice abs who was doing a dance for me. Hahahahahahaaaa

So much fun, but now its getting down to the wire, only 3 weeks til the wedding!

Sally - great job on the table! I love garage sales! So nice of you to go back and pay for the table!

Weigh in:
It usually takes me about an hour and a half to complete a lo. I generally work on it start to finish in one sitting. I'll only leave it when its really not working but usually only overnight. I also only leave los when I'm too tired.

Can't wait to see what everyone creates!

Hi all-You won't see me much the next 2 weeks or so. I'm leaving Thurs. for a crop in Ohio (my home state). I live in Tulsa, OK. I meeting up with a bunch of gals from here on SB.com. My DH thinks we are all nuts-of course! And Sally is sad because I won't have time to see her while I'm there. But we'll make it up next March-promise! I also start back to work next Monday and it's going to be whirlwind week. I'm still lurking and working on things so don't worry.

BTW-I'm loving all the fun stuff I'm seeing!

My weekend was good. We took a bus trip with my co-workers and went to the Pirates game and tailgated down there. The game was soooo HOT!!!! OMG I almost couldn't take it. The sun hit us all day long. When we got home I got a shower and was in bed by alittle after 9. I couldn't even stay awake for True Blood so I'll be watching that tonight.

weigh in- Joyce, that is a wonderful idea making kits... I've made kits to take with me to other places, but never thought to do that at home. I'm going to try that and make up a few kits for home. Thanks for sharing!

Char love the little leaves....very cute!!!

Sally I was having trouble with SB.com the other day....it was so slow and wouldn't let me post anything....I thought it was my computer but other sites were fine. By the next day it was fine again. Hope it starts working better for you I know thats frustrating!!!

Debby - I thought the kits she was talking about were ones she bought already premade...but in your post you spoke of "making" them up to have at home??? I am confused??? Do you mean thatyou just make up LO's with blank spots for the pictures and wait until you have a use for them??? or is it something completely different???

Rained most of the night and kinda over cast today but its nice and cool. I have to spend the day because we have a bunch of family coming over for a birthday party.

Hope everyone has a Terrific Tuesday!!!!!

I must have miss read her post... When I make a kit up to take somewhere, I pick out pictures, papers and embellishments. Lots of times I will cut out my cricut shapes and stick them in my kit. I just put in a lot of things I think I may want to use. Then when I get to someones house I put my lo together using the kit I put together. I guess it's kinda like joining a kit club, only free and with items and papers I picked out... I'm thinking maybe I would try this at home.... Except for the die cuts, because I can just cut shapes as I need them. Might save a lot of time going through everything.

My girlfriend and I try to get together once a month to scrap. We take turns coming up with a monthly assignment. Color scheme and have to have this or that in it or what ever we want. We make two pages, one for out book and one for the other person's book. Then we have to add pictures by the following month. That part is the more challenging part!

Hiii Friends....

I am a real stickler for detail!! So I usually will get a gallon sized baggie and put everything for each project in that baggie. Finding just the right "Everything" for each project is the hard part. I think putting it all together flows much easier if you have everything right in front of you. I usually can put a card together and embellish it in an hour. A layout is a little more detailed "bigger space to work with". But stuff such as these MMM's...well the ones that I have done so far have required an hour for each one. Sooooo...there you go!! It's all in the organizing and planning I think

That's a really good idea, Bon, to put everything in a gallon baggy. I always seem to know what I want to put on a lo, but then come time to sit down, I forgot what I wanted to do, or can't find anything! Like now, for the past hour, in between cooking dinner, I've been trying to figure out how to do a lo of my daughter and her friends.

Bon and debby_ Ladies- what good ideas to make your own kits! I don't know if that would work for me though, I change my mind too much, often up until its all stuck down for good.... And even then I still move what I can.

So the other night, I was up until about 4am... there were BATs in my house!!!!! Yes bats! Eeeek! 3 of them! We have no idea how they got in. We just ripped out a bathtub so now our ensuite is unfinished, that's the only thing that has changed so we don't know if they are coming through there somehow.

Good thing though, I'm almost done my munchkin lollipops.

Eww bats... I hope you called the exterminator. I've seen shows on tv, but of course they only show the intense infestations, but not good to have droppings around your little kids. After I bought my house, I had rats. That was very creepy. I'm not sure which is worse bats or rats. I think they're equally bad.
