I had a sad day yesterday. I lost my first baby before she was born and it was her due date. I know I will see her in heaven but it was a sad day..spilt a few tears. Work helped..kept me busy. I am better today though....

I cannot even fathom that loss- my heart & prayers go out to you

This is a wonderful page Cassondra & has really gotten my gears turning- I knew I'd do a page about when my DH proposed- then a following one with our honeymoon (you might be a redneck..... you'll have to wait till I post the page to know) It's a great story & it must have worked since this coming December 24th is when he proposed & we'll celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary on 7Feb.....(BTW our first date was the 1st weekend in Oct 1989. We were married in 1990)

JCI - hope to work on my BOM some this week. Have to work on my family album too. Also- I'm helping DH do mudding on the drywall we're now putting up next door in my dad's house where we had to gut the basement. After mudding- I'll be preparing to paint. Oh joy

JCI - The mudding project will take much more work before paint is in the picture. Did you know that a minimum of 3 coats of mud is required? Then sanding? Fun Fun

Also today- I got my MRI results for my back- I have 6 vertebra instead of 5 in my lower back & one is bulging which is pushing on the left side which is probably why my leg feels numb with exertion. I knew things weren't right, but I wasn't prepared for that report. So now I'm being referred to an ortho surgeon... Joy

Sorry to hear about your MRI.....I also have an extra vertebrae in my lower back...but have never known anyone else who did...I have had lots of trouble off and on over the years with back pain.....I hope you are able to find someone who can help you get some relief!!

I'm feeling a little apprehensive about what will happen with my back. It could mean my career in the NG. I guess we shall see what happens. Maybe just time, physical therapy & losing weight will help the most.

I know it might sound crazy Char but I had and continue to have amazing results with Chiropractic and accupuncture treatments.....I have never been willing to even consider any kind of surgery on my back.

I have a lot of catching up here, but just glancing over the last page or two... That's one of my back problems is I have an extra vertebrae as well which isn't fused to the sacrum and the disc above it is bulging. My left leg has been numb for about 3 years now. Then after about 20 min of walking, the right leg goes numb and starts to hurt. I'm scheduled for an RFA next week (Radio Frequency Ablation). I also have a herniated disc in my neck area. No one wants to touch that. Because my spinal canal is not affected, I'm not a candidate for back surgery. Not that I want it.

That's what I'm concerned with- damage to the nerve as the MRI reads herniation onto the nerve root. Chiropractic care hasn't worked. Massage therapist has helped. I'm hoping losing some weight & strengthening muscles will reduce the discomfort if not eliminate it. I have over 50lbs I'd love to carve off & I am thinking it will make a big difference.

Hope to work some on BOM pages next weekend as it is scrap Saturday at my house then!!! Yay

Thanks ladies.

It took about 3 hours. If I had only done one side I would have gotten away with only one sheet of paper. But by putting it on two layouts I had to use two sheets of paper. I was 6 squares short of the border and I needed a few other pieces for filler pieces.

It was a lot of fun. I will be doing this again.

DaNel - Those layouts are beautiful! I love how they turned out.

Things are crazy busy here. We were approved on the new house and move next week. I finally got my car back from the mechanic after it had been in the shop for almost 6 weeks.

Going to a retreat this weekend. I'm fighting the guilt feeling because there is so much packing and stuff to do but I know there isn't going to be any scrapping time until after Christmas, so I'm leaving town! lol

Well I had an interesting day! We had a fire drill at work (but did not know it was a drill). I had to go down 10 flights of stairs quickly. I have bad knees and I'm not a small person and by time I got out of the bldg. I was having trouble breathing. I took two puffs of my inhaler and then about passed out. I went down to my knees and then could not stand without wanting to pass out. So...my boss called 911. The EMT's said the inhaler drove my heartrate which was already up even higher. My BP was 198 over 82! Between the inhaler and the adrenilin I was shaking so bad and very faint. After about an hour I began to get better. The EMT's stayed with me unti I could sit up and my daughter and SIL came and got me. I feel ok now but it was crazy! My boss told me if we have a drill again she will let me know ahead and I can take the elevator down. In a real fire she will have one of our nurses escort me down the stairs. CRAZY DAY!

Hi everyone, I'm just checking in. I'm so far behind here. I finally finished the name challenge this morning. Of course my camera battery is dead, so pictures will have to work. This page took me nearly three weeks. Not because it's great, but because journaling about myself is so very difficult for me. Seriously, it was torture. I'm relieved to have page one finally done.

I hope people don't think we are judging them on when or how many pages they do for this BOM. This group is so not about that. It's about encouragement and taking some time out for yourself. We have goals because we should. They can always be adjusted & if you don't make it- you don't. No biggy deal. The point is to do something & take some personal time to reflect. Self reflection is a key to good mental health & as women we tend to get caught up in everyone else's needs & ignore our own. Taking time to reflect and do something for yourself allows you to recharge so you can continue being the one who takes care of everyone else. For some- it allows us to grieve, accept some area of our past, or recall some beautiful moments that we cherish. All of which are beneficial to our well being.

So please if you feel behind or are beating yourself up for not doing the "challenge" whether the name page or the number of pages you said you would - don't worry about that, just do something for you & share it here. That's what this group is really all about.

Char you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!! I couldn't agree more!!!!

The ONLY reason I had everyone set a goal was to try to keep us motivated to make sure we are taking time out for US!!!!

This should NEVER be a challenge you stress about!!! just enjoy it....work on when you can and share what you are comfortable sharing!!!

Thank you Char for remingding us why we are here!!!

Ok, I finally loaded my picture. I know I said I was going to complete 2 BOM pages this year, but I think 1 is going to be it. The holidays and job are just getting in the way. BTW, the photo is horrible. There is a shadow on my camera lens. I think it's a particle of dust, but I just can't figure out a way to remove it. There is not a blob of dirt on my LO, I promise.

A beautiful page Kelly. I totally understand about the holidays & being busy. I am hoping I'll have some free time to work on mine as we have no travel plans in December.

Right now I'm in CO & wishing I was home scrapping.... It is beautiful here tho- the weather is great & the mountains are beautiful....

Char: is there a faithbooking group/challenge for this month? I can't find it.

Just found your challenge yesterday. I've read a few pages, and am still wondering: what were the ideas for pages? Did you suggest a name page for the first one, and then everyone went on their own?

My mom has stage 4 cancer , and I know that i need to do a book of me for my mental health. Could you all please give me a list of the topics covered in your book? I know I can do whatever, but the hardest part of being creative for me is sometimes getting the starting idea.

TIA,
betsy

Hi Betsy...

So far we have been challenged to make a name page! The definition of our name, where we got our name, etc. The next challenge I believe was a "Theme" song challenge. What song comes to mind when you think of yourself and where you are in life today. The next challenge was if we were a Superhero what would our power be and why,and what would our Superhero look like, dress like etc. If I'm not mistaken I don't think Cassondra has come up with a new one yet. Although I may just have missed it.

I hope that helped you come up with some ideas.

I won't say I'm sorry to hear about your Mom and the battle that she is in because "sorry" just doesn't even cover what you feel. My daughter and I were just talking about this the other night. She says why do people say that Momma. Don't they know that that just makes the person hearing it feel worse??? I told her it is because often times people just don't have the words to express so "I'm sorry" and "I love you" are easy phrases to use. We ponder all of these things as I too have stage 4 cancer. Just know that you are not alone...we're out here too.

Here's a page for my BOM:

First Love By Lookin4newideas

Sorry I've been MIA, haven't done much of scrapping at all this month. Too busy with the swaps.

Betsy - a lot of times, it's take for a memory to surface and you remember a certain picture, or just the memory. You can do a lo without a picture, too. With the lo above, I was in a challenge to use 2 pp that someone sent me. I loved the bg pp, and was looking for a picture of my parents, but instead came across my pictures of my old bf. I noticed, the majority of the pictures I had of him, he's wearing blue. And the photo I used was the last one of us together. I met him in 1982 and we parted ways in 1988.

Thank you, mine started off bad, but ended nice. I've been helping my sister pack up her stuff the past couple of days. She lived 17 miles away, but three days of driving back and forth, that's 102 miles in three days. It doesn't sound much, but I hate driving! It's good to be home!

Hi Betsy- Faithbooking is kinda on hold for a bit- Jalynne who hosts it- her DH had a very serious accident on 6 Sept- hit by a car while on his bicycle- the car left the scene- witnesses say the car didn't even slow down. He would have been dead at the scene if he had not been wearing his helmet. He spent over 20 days in the hospital & almost lost his foot- but they were able to do a muscle & skin graft and so far he is recovering well. He also suffered a broken shoulder & some trauma to his knee- but not as serious as his foot/ankle injury where all the flesh was rubbed off down to the bone. Although- much physical therapy & more time is yet needed- she has had to put scrapping on hold for awhile. but hopes to start back soon. However- I don't know when she'll be up to resuming the Faithbooking group. I will contact her and see if she would mind if I hosted it for awhile while she catches up.

You are most welcome to join us here on BOM as well. This is about doing pages about yourself for yourself. As women- we tend to take care of everyone else but not necessarily ourselves. We started with a name page- what were you named & why (if you know) & what does your name mean. Many of us did not use a picture- but just journaling. Please browse thru the pages as there is a lot here & all great ladies. This group is not about meeting a goal necessarily, but we have set some because we all need goals to aim for. Some do pages of meaning for them that they are ready to scrap for themselves- relationships, pets, family, it's all here. Please feel free to jump in. It's about sharing, being encouraging & supportive. We are each making our own BOM, but we are sharing it as we go. Going back to the beginning will help you learn about the ladies here & I think you'll find it rewarding. I think we have an incredible group here.

Hi girls!

I have so missed all of you these past weeks. The storm has passed and we are getting back on track.

We are in the new house and a weight feels like its been lifted right off my shoulders. I never realized what that big old broken down house was doing to me. Its such a release to be in a smaller, maintenance free home. The kids are happier. I'm happier.

Pics soon. Wait til you see what I did to the living room. Its scrapbook central! Walk in, take off your shoes, and get to creating!

That's great news Jen. Moving is stressful, but from what you were telling us- I can imagine how much of a relief it is for you. Right now with my back issue- I can't do the yard work & my flower beds are overgrown with weeds..... so what I need is a gardener gnome and a bathroom cleaning fairy and I'll be set.

Bon- I can hardly wait to see you LO. You do such beautiful work anyway- so I know this will be fantastic.

lol Bon! Can't wait to see it

If things weren't crazy enough, my mother comes into town tomorrow. Its the plan to make her sit down with some old photos and give me the history and names to go with.

Of course, that's after I put her to work unpacking boxes.

Hi Friends...

Here is a picture of my BOM Theme Song Layout...

I hope you like it...and that you leave me some love in my gallery!

"Fight Like A Girl" Theme Song-Made For BOM Challenge By NaneeTootieBeebleBug

I would like to share the video with you if you would like to take a minute to watch.

The lyrics to the song are the wording in my layout.

http://youtu.be/V96r2046qjE

and here are the lyrics if you can't watch the video...

"Fight Like A Girl"

Little girl alone on the playground
Tired of gettin' teased and gettin' pushed around
Wishin' she was invisible to them
She ran home cryin', why do they hate me?
Her mama wiped her tears and said baby
You're brave and you're beautiful

So hold your head high
Don't ever let them define
The light in your eyes
Love yourself, give em hell
You can take on this world
You just stand and be strong
And then fight like a girl

31, she was wheelin' and dealin'
Kept on hittin' that same glass ceiling
She was never gonna be one of the boys, no
She could of gave up on her ambitions
And spend the rest of her life just wishin'
Instead she listened to her mama's voice sayin'

So hold your head high
Don't ever let them define
The light in your eyes
Love yourself, give em hell
You can take on this world
You just stand and be strong
And then fight like a girl

Oh, with style and grace
Kick ******** and take names

10 years of climbin' that ladder
All the power and money don't matter
When the doctor said, the cancer spread
She holds on tight to her husband and babies
And said, this is just another test God gave me
And I know just how to deal with it

I'll hold my head high
I'll never let this define
The light in my eyes
Love myself, give it hell
I'll take on this world
Yes, I'll stand and be strong
No I'll never give up
I will conquer with love
And I'll fight like a girl

Love & Peace To Each Of You.

Bon- that is an amazing song & so fits you. I'll have to watch the video from home as they have it blocked here at work. Those pink gloves are the perfect touch. Thank you for being a fighter and an inspiration to so many, and I'm so glad you are my Paper Sister.

My mother flew in from out of town last night so whatever hasn't been unpacked yet will definitely be taken care of before Sunday when she leaves. LOL

She was up early digging her way through. I'd bet money that when I get home from work today the curtains have been hung and pictures are on the walls.

Who needs an unpacking fairy when you have her?

You are blessed to have a job and I'm sure God will provide a way for you car to be fixed and for you to make Christmas happen...just have faith.

Just thinking about the #'s I committed to doing for this swap since Pirate's comment...I took a look at the first page!!!

I see that I have made 3 out of 4!!!! Not bad at all considering I didn't think I would do any layouts with all the swapping I have had!!

Cass...If you would kindly change that to reflect the 3/4 I would be sooooooooo happy!!!

I'm certain now that I will reach my goal!!!!!!

Thanks a ton for this challenge Cass, as it has really opened me up to "ME" and the things about me that I truly love...I needed that!!!!!

Also, without me going through each page...what else did we talk about??? The superhero...our name meaning...is that all??? Are you planning on giving us another little challenge for December??? I guess I could do my name, but it just doesn't seem right as I don't know where it came from or who chose it...Ugh that is a hard one for me!! Unless I use the name Bon or Bonnie!!! Maybe you have something else up your sleeve for a BOM challenge question...I HOPE!!!

Kimberly- you don't have to back out- just check in every now and then. So you aren't doing the number of LOs you said you would- that isn't what this group is about. It's about remembering to take some time for yourself every now and then. If it's later- then that's okay.

I saw an amazing little BOM that someone did- and it was set up like this:
10 Things About Me
1 song that always makes me happy
2 labels that make me happy
3 random thoughts
4 people I’d invite to my fantasy dinner party
5 contradictions
6 reasons I’m glad I can grow & change
7 things I collect
8 things that drive me crazy about me
9 things I want to do
10 things I like about me

You answer the lines as ONE song that makes me happy; then list 2 labels that make me happy (like Aunt Char and sweetheart); then 3 random thoughts; and so on. Reminds me of the song A Partridge in a Pear Tree. LOL Anyway- you could make it into a 1-2 page 12x12 LO if you wanted too. Many options. Just wanted to share as I thought this would be a great addition to our BOM efforts here.

I just realized I've been lurking for a week or more (and even making pages) and have never given a shout out. I'm in for 5 pages. It's going to be therapy for me. I like the idea about sharing the good and the bad.

Megan: I plan on working on a Narnia page or two. I heart Puddleglum, and am always fighting the fact that my dragon scales can not come off by me.

Char that list is really cool I love it!!!

I haven't posted a challenge in a while (sorry about that!!) Sooooo I was thinking this morning about all the blessings in my life and how some times this time of year people get so wrapped up in the commercial part of Christmas that they forget whats really important and the true meaning of the Season. I know we all come from different backgrounds and have different beliefs but I think one thing we can all recognize if we take a minute is that we have been blessed with so many gifts.

soooooo heres the challenge:
Create a LO that expresses one of your lifes greatest gifts

Can't wait to see what you come up with!!!

This is a LO I did for my sons album about one of his lifes greatest gifts....now to make a LO for mine.....sooooo many gifts to choose from!!!

Express my life's Greatest Gifts...Wow!! I love this more than you know. As a Way to heal my broken heart and share my BOM I have the perfect layout for this challenge.

I will do my very best to express my life's Greatest Gifts. I just have to sit and think what the design and LO will look like...I know without question what my Greatest Gift's are.

Been busy the past few days with Mom. We've been unpacking, putting things on walls and hanging curtains. My paper creating oasis is complete. I'll post pics soon.

I think all I have left is.... nothing! I can't think of a thing that needs to be finished up. It's all done!

Last night, I was able to sit down and let my mom see some of my albums. She has only seen pictures of my layouts and to have her look at them first hand was really important to me.

I didn't get to spend the time I wanted to with Mom. I had to work today and she's now on her way back to Seattle.

We talked as we worked, tail feathers up in boxes. I am so glad that she came in to help out. I would still be sitting in the middle of boxes scratching my head. lol
