Welcome to the Scrap Area Organization Challenge...

The object of this challenge is to make your Scrap Area work better for you. There will be ways to make a messy scrap area clean. There will be ways to make a clean scrap area even better.

You can sign up or leave at any time. Just post that you want to participate for each weekly challenge.

I will be giving weekly organizational challenges every Monday. The Challenge will be closed on Sunday. This way if you choose to purchase something to make your area better you have time to go to the store. If your area is in a huge mess then this gives you time to really get things sorted.

I will post 2 or 3 levels of each challenge so if you already have things organized you can take it to the next level and still participate.

I will keep this same topic list going through the year 2012 and will post a new topic for 2013.

I encourage you to ask questions and tell us how your area is so we can help you when you get stuck. Sometimes what works for one person does not work for another. Sometimes a mixture of two ways will even work better.

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I hope I made this clear enough.

.........Now let's get to Organizing!!! ..........

This weeks Challenge:

March 19 - March 25

Let's organize our biggest trouble spot. This will be an individual challenge for each person.

Take 15 minutes a day and work on the spot that is the most disorganized. Ask for suggestions here if your really stuck.

March 26 - April 1

This week we are cleaning our desk off again. Put everything away that you are not currently working on.

March 5 - March 11

This week we are going to organize our brads, eyelets, and beads.

What do you do to organize these items? I put them in small containers by color.

Jan 27 - Feb 5

This week we are going to work on our Stamps and ink pads. Figure out what colors you have, what you need, see if you need to re-ink any for future use.

For your stamps make sure you don't have any accidental duplicates and put them in categories so you can find them quickly.

Feb 13 - Feb 19

Ribbon Ribbon everywhere. Can't find what you need when working.

This week we will be working on our Ribbons. Sort by color, style, brand, how ever will work best for you.

Do you want it hanging? in a drawer? in a tote? Think of how it will need to be for you to get to it the easiest.

Everyone please feel free to ask questions on how to get over the hump that you have with ribbon. If you have a great way to sort your ribbon please let us know.

Feb 6 - Feb 12

Ok. We have done the paper, and the adhesives. Now we need to work on all the embellishments.

This week we are going to sort through all the stickers. I know I'm cutting down the the amount of stickers that I use and I'm moving towards more flowers and 3D type embellishments.

So this week
1. Sort the stickers into categories so you can find them easily. Many people use 3 ring binders with page protectors so stickers can be found easily.
2. Pick out the ones that you know that you will never use and set them aside to give to someone that is just starting out, or to a classroom at a school.
3. Take inventory of what you have, what you need, and make a shopping list to keep in your purse. This way when you are at the store and something is on sale you know what to look for.

Jan 30 - Feb 5

We all use adhesives of some sort. Some use more types than others. This week we are going to gather up our adhesives and organize them all into the same spot and make a note of what we are low on.

Jan 23 - Jan 29

What does every one of us use on each and every scrapbook page we create?

Paper.

This week our challenge is to organize our paper supply. This is all paper supply including scraps.

Jan 16 - Jan 22 Challenge

This week's challenge may be an easy one for some of you or a real challenge for others.

This week's challenge is to clean off your work area. Put everything that is currently sitting on your desk (that does not belong) away.

If you don't know where something should go that is ok. Just put is somewhere you can find it and we will be eventually putting those things away too.

Remember we will be taking baby steps and doing one thing a week. So this week. Clean off that scrap desk/table.

Jan 9 to Jan 15:

The main goal this week is for you to figure out what categories your scrap area needs.

Jan 2 through Jan 8:
For this challenge I want you to look at your scrap area and write down what you like about it and what you do not like about it. Post this list to the group.

First - YES. I NEED to participate!

Challenge #1.

I really like that I have adequate storage and plenty of space.

I don't like my scrap desk. It's not big enough for me to really spread out a project and have room to work. One of my friends told me that she got a scrap door from a reject pile at the local overhead door store, so I'm going to go get one myself. I hope they have some solid wood ones like she got - that way I can really USE it!

That's my first plan. To redo my desk.

I have a metal outside door (for a warehouse) as my scrapdesk. I like the metal version because you don't score it when cutting.

I have it sitting on two shelves in the corner of my room.

This is an older photo. (my area has changed some) I will take another photo today after I get back from trail riding as a before for this challenge)

Here are the shelves that are holding up the door.

I'd love to borrow some of your organization skills.

I love most everthing about my room except it doesn't flow as well as I'd like. I think I need more surface areas.

- I absolutely LOVE the fact that I have a ton of natural light during the day & until the sun goes down. I also especially love that my room is located in a corner room of the house.

- A couple of items that I do not like...Clutter under my desk. Too much stuff. And a bunch of uncompleted labeling that I would like to get done!

Oh I am in! Will get a before photo when I get home from work.

I love where my room is going, DH is helping me re do the storage space, a new embellie center and jetmax cubes in the closet. And the natural light is fabulous.

But I am not fond of how my die cutting areas are set up and am in need of a new chair, preferably an office chair.

I'm in!! I have been working on setting up my room so this challenge will help tons, thanks for setting it up.

What I like about my room
- I just repainted it from a dark butterscotch color to a bright yellow green and it is so much lighter now.
- I have alot of storage.

What I don't like about my room
- My work surface is WAY too small. I thought it would be enough, but it's not. I drool over pictures of rooms with the counters that run the length of the wall.
- I have alot of storage, but I can't seem to figure out the best way to use it. I am one of those people who don't use it if I can't see it, but also hate clutter so it's been difficult figuring out how to meet in the middle so I spend my time scrapping and not searching for what I want. (My husband teases me all the time that he thinks I enjoy the moving the supplies around more than I enjoy using them hehe)

This challenge is exactly what i need! Thanks for hosting!

what i like about my scrap area -
*my desk is right beside a window
*for the supplies and products that i own, i have a decent amount of storage (i just don't think i'm using it all to its full potential)

what i don't like about my scrap area -
*it's very cramped (i only have a corner of my bedroom)
*i have a lot of things that i consider "uncategorized" that don't have a place so they just kind of clutter up my desk
*my desk is too small to spread out as much as i'd like while i work

I'm in! I really need this!

This is my scraproom when I first got a room to scrap in:

Scraproom After By Forevervampress

- I love the cleanliness of it, the way it looked streamlined and organized.

- I love all the cubbies and the large work area.

- I hate how disorganized it is now. I buy a lot of scrappy supplies and every surface of this room is covered in stuff.

- I would like to have a place for everything so that I am not always looking for tools or embellies.

Me! I need serious help!

Love: I can stand at my table to work
Love the natural light

Dislike: Very small work space
Practically no storage
It's so disorganized its hard to keep clean
Not really my own area

Complaints aside, I was finally able to clean out a small closet upstairs, now I just need to find a way to make it work.

I'm in! Just moved, and my studio is in need of a serious makeover.

what I like about my studio is that there is pleanty of storage space to use, what I don't like is that all of it is built in, too deep, too high to work on with out a draft stool, one tiny window, and the whole room is seriously UGLY with unfinished partical board walls, and a half tiled celing. and awful wood countertops (it's a work room off of what use to be the garage, which we renoed and is now my bedroom.)

After reading everyone'e posts this week's challenge will hopefully help the most people. If this challenge is one that you do not need help with please post what you do for this topic so others can gain inspiration.

Weekly Challenge for Jan 9 to Jan 15:

I have a ton of embellishments, extras, scraps of paper that can still be used and so forth and so on. So I needed a way to get to each item more easily. I have this tendency to not want to look for something so to use it an item needs to be handy.

The main goal this week is for you to figure out what categories your scrap area needs.

Here are mine for an example:

1. punches
2. Stamps
3. Inks
4. Paper
5. eyelets/brads
6. pens/markers
7. daily tools
8. reference books
9. glues/adhesives
10. lettering
11. Cricut Cartridges
12. Embossing dry
13. Embossing wet
14. stickles
15. Embellishments
16. Scrap Paper (useable)
17. Ribbon
18. Buttons

That is all that is required for this week's challenge. Here is the next step if you choose to do more.

I had the above list (and still do) but needed to have things together more. So last month I went to Dollar Tree and purchased containers (for $1 each) and got my label maker out.

I made the following categories and put my eyelets, brads, pages of lettering, scraps of papers, ribbons, buttons, and anything else I could find that fit these categories and put them into the tubs.

I started out by buying 15 tubs ($15) and had to go back because Reds got so full I make Pink its own tub. I had just enough Travel stuff that it needed it's own tub and so on.

Animals/zoo
Baby
Birthday
Black
Blue
Brown
Christmas
Fall
Green
Grey
Halloween
Orange
Metals (silver, gold, bronze, etc)
Pink
Purple
Red
School
Sports
Travel
Valentines
Vintage
Wedding
White
Yellow

So far I've gone through my brads, eyelets, ribbon, buttons, stickers, embellishment and lettering areas and put them into these totes. I got most of it done in December. I still have to go through my usable Scrap paper and so on.

I do plan on pulling brads/eyelets and buttons out of these tubs in the future and having them in their own area but for right now I have them with the catagory/color that they are. This is also to show you that just because it isn't the way you want it in the end it is a good idea to change things to help you get to that end.

If you choose to take step 1 a bit further this week I want to challenge you to sorting your items into piles, tubs, or so on. Make sure to keep your scrap desk / table clear for scrapping since this challenge will be done in between scrapping projects.

I'm organizing my Scrap Area By DaNel Hicks

Organizing By DaNel Hicks

I also wanted to say that my punches, stamps, and inks are NOT in these boxes. They are in their own totes and will stay there.

embelies

computer station
alterable materials (I have 3 etsy shops, so have lots of raw supplies for them)
office records/tools
stamps

finished product area

Thankfuly all of my stuff is sorted already into these areas, but the placement of all of it in my room doesn't work for me.

Do you think you could post the weekly challenges in red or post them all up in the first post as we go for a quick/easy way to find them?

oh... what it needs... [email protected]!! lol

cricut area
scrap paper area
paper area
punches
mists
stickles
bling
markers
stamps
ribbon

right now I have my ribbons on the wall being hung up with string... I am too cheap to go and buy a ribbon holder - lol... i need to think outside the box to find a way to hold them - any suggestions.
I have pushed string through them all and they are just hanging like a banner. I don't want to think about it if the middle one needs to come down - I believe that my cricut obsession has been replaced with ribbon!

I also need a spot to store my pics better - since I am in the basement I am so worried that they will get wet if I ever have a flood

This is the perfect challenge for me! We recently moved (again), so I just unpacked all of my craft stuff. After being MIA for over a year, it's time to get back in gear!

Challenge 1: I have a large corner of our unfinished basement all to myself! I like the amount of space, the workbench I built, my new cricut counter, and the large table I have for my work surface. However, I do not like the unfinished walls, the disorganized embellishments, boxes of unfinished projects, unsorted stacks of paper, there is not much light, and I don't have very many electrical outlets.

Challenge 2: The categories / areas I need to organize are:
• Papers / Scrap Papers / Specialty Papers (Sorted by color / theme)
• Common Tools
• Workbench Tools
• Occasional Tools
• Glue / Tape / etc
• Cricut
• Punches / Cutting Templates
• Stamps / Inks
• Feathers / Felt / Tissue / Foam
• Brads / Eyelets / Clips
• Chipboard
• Paint
• Leather / Fabric
• Ribbon
• Letters
• Stickers
• Specific Holidays / Themes
• Specific Projects / Started Projects
• Miscellaneous Embellishments

I'm looking forward to seeing the transformation once I get things organized! Thanks for this kick in the right direction!

Um - it's kind of embarrassing.

#1. Patterned Paper
#2. Cardstock
#3. Punches
#4. Die Cuts and Big Shot
#5. Bling
#6. Stickers
#7. Alphabets
#8. Chipboard
#9. Brads, Eyelets, Buttons, and similar embellishments
#10. Ribbon and Fibers
#11. Stamps
#12. Adhesives
#13. Thread
#14. Inks
#15. Alcohol Inks
#15. Paints
#16. Mists
#17. Large Tools (ones that have to sit out - Big Shot, Cricut, Big Byte)
#18. Smaller Tools (infrequent ones - punch buddy, I-top, etc)
#19. Everyday Tools (crop-a-dile, flower tools...)
#20. Tim Holtz Tags Elements
#21. Fabric
#22. Large "image type" embellishments (border strips, butterflies, etc..)
#23. Flowers
#24. Floral Making Project Parts
#25. Metal
#26. Jewelry & Beads
#27. Seasonal Themed Elements
#28. Idea Books and Technique Instructions

I'm sure there are more, and I'll discover them as I go.

I'm normally pretty organized, but this school year hasn't left me much time to "pick up as I go" and my room is a pretty much chaotic mess right now.

I also really REALLY want to participate in a scrap swap that my LSS is supporting to help me clean out some of the excess and older stuff I know I won't use anymore. The idea is for participants to bring their "I know I won't use this, but I don't want to just throw it away" stuff to the swap. People can buy that stuff, only instead of paying YOU, they will pay the store, and you'll get store credit towards purchases of new stuff. Oh man. I need a 12-step program. I really do.

I agree. I'm trying to use up things before I buy more too.

Pat. I will more than likely have as many paper categories once I get to actually sorting and storing my paper better. Right now I only have (Paper) lol.

I started working on my scrap area in October of last year. I'm still working on it which is why when a few people asked about a Scraproom challenge I started one. I know that so far the challenges have been mental (thinking of how you want things) but really that is the first step. You need to know what you want or you will never be happy with what you have.

wow Pat that is quite the list! If you need somewhere to 'donate' any things you have leftover after your purge...just saying...

It is always hard to wrap my head around how much there is to do in my room, it certainly helps to have it all broken down, and have someone providing a guideline to follow!

I dunno, Celina.

I just lumped it and called it BLING. What I didn't say was, "stickles, loose glitter, bling on rolls, loose gems, bling flourishes...." yada yada - every item on my list is like that. LOL

I'm in denial. Serious denial. But I'm serious about that 12-step thing. Annie, come on over to my house and pick out what you want. You won't even make a dent in it.

Jan 16 - Jan 22 Challenge

Done LOL had to do this yesterday actually because decided to take everything out of the room to re-paint. Only ugly things left are the celing and the light fixtures, which I hope to get finished next week.

Done. I try to clean off my work area every time I'm done scrapping. The only things on my table right now are the items that are stored there. On my workbench, I do have two pages out but they are drying for the night.

Since I had the day off today, I tried to clean off my desk. I didn't get very far. I'll keep trying this week. It may take me the rest of the week to see my actual tabletop.

This week's challenge seems doable for me- I cleaned the desk off when I finished the last project up. I have some shopping bags on the bags on the desk now.

I would like in for this. I have been looking at photos and videos trying to decide what I need to do.

I like that I have my own room, with a window and walk-in closet for storage and a sink all right in the room.
I like that I have tons of storage space...I hate that I don't know how to use it and put it to good use.

I need to know what to do with scraps of paper, full size pp and card stock, punches, and I have no idea what to do with masks and all the little stuff, glimmer mists, alcohol inks.

Do we need to upload before photos?

Thanks for this. I'm really looking forward to learning whatever else does and seeing all the redone rooms.

My desk is cleaned off except for in progress projects: 2 mini albums, a page, a piece of altered art, and some ATCs spread out to work on as the mood strikes. The papers for each are stacked up with them. From experience though I know if I put them away I will start new projects before finishing these!

Scrapingbliss:

I'm sort of in the same spot you are. Jealous of your sink right in your room though :). I've been browsing the photos on this site and drooling over some of the scraprooms! LOL I keep my paper scraps in ziplock bags. In my old room I didn't have much room, so I hooked a paper clip into the top corner of each bag and slipped them onto a wire hanger. It worked and all of my scraps were visible (if it's not visible, there's a much lower chance it will get used). Now that I have a little more room, I have all of the ziplocks in one of those metal divider trays (the kind to hold file folders on top of the desk). It sits right next to my main work area. I built a cabinet for my full size paper / cardstock / paper pads. It's 13" x 13" x 48" with several shelves spaced anywhere from 2" - 5" apart. It doesn't look pretty by any means (I used OSB to build it), but it's fully functional and allows me to easily access my papers. I even have room on the bottom to hold a few empty albums, an art set, a trace & draw doohickey, a paper station embossing tray, and several other miscellaneous tools. I have yet to take pictures of my scrap room (should have done that a few weeks ago when I first moved into the space), but I hope to get those taken this weekend.

For this challenge I want you to look at your scrap area and write down what you like about it and what you do not like about it. Post this list to the group.

Is it too late to join?????

I seriously need help,,,,you guys should see my scrap room,,,,,I can never find ANYTHING.

My scrap room is the old dining room,,,,well they CALLED it a dining room, IMHO, it's more of a small room off the eat in kitchen that barely holds a 6 person dining table. It has a built in china cabinet that is the ugliest thing you ever saw, but has TONS of space.

I like that I have most of my paper in the cabinets of that china cabinet to avoid sunlight.

I like that I have the upper portion for TONS of stuff,,,,,,,but it's such a mess and has tons of NON scrappy things in it too that I am NOT using it to its full capacity.

I like that I made the table smaller for my scrap stuff and added 2 large book shelves and a cart for my diecutting machines, dies, gypsy, etc.

I HATE HATE HATE the rug on the floor,,,,,it always looks dirty, no matter how much I steam clean it, and I can not afford to redo it now (who decided putting wall to wall in a DINING room was a good idea???)

I do like (believe it or not) that it's literally in the center of the house, and I can see and hear everything, talk to the kids and my husband and see people as they go through (it's the only way into the kitchen).

I also like that it's right NEXT TO the kitchen, and I do a ton of messy stuff in the kitchen by taking about 3 steps.

I think that's it.

Kimberly - When I scrap I pull something out of a spot then use it then put it away. (if it is kept in an area on or near my desk. I may pull it out 3 or 4 times but it goes to it's spot and not on the desk. lol. But I do clean my scrap area every time I finish a project and put away all the scraps and usable pieces of paper or embellies.

CommaHolly - No it is not too late to join. Some challenges may not apply to one person but others may. So just do the ones that you choose to do.

Melissa - Would you be willing to take a picture of your paper organizer? (I don't care if it is ugly you find it functional and that is all that matters.

Kim (Scrapingbliss) - To answer your questions.

1. I need to know what to do with scraps of paper, full size pp and card stock, punches, and I have no idea what to do with masks and all the little stuff, glimmer mists, alcohol inks.

Answer: Right now just put them somewhere close by that you can get to them easily. We will be organizing those areas soon. Our main goal right now is to have a clean area to work on. We will also be using this area to sort and organize all those things that you don't know where to go.

2. Do we need to upload before photos?

Answer: You don't NEED to upload photos ever in this challenge. WE all love to see them and someone may ask to see a specific thing or two (Like I did above). But there is no requirement to upload.

Hi, Holly!

I promise to simply move the items off my scrap desk and not stress...scouts honor! LOL

Melissa I do like the idea of the scraps in zip lock bags...do you put all the same color regardless of pattern in one bag? Right now I have a tray and they all just get loaded up in there and of course I can't find a darn thing when I need it.

Kim, I have a ziplock for each color where I put both solids and patterns. For patterns, I put it with the color that is most prominent. I also have separate bags for special items: shapes / tags / frames, paper strips, foam pieces, ribbon, fabric, heavy cardboard, vellum / transparency, and handmade papers, as well as a ziplock full of clear bags (the kind embellies come in). When I am working on a specific holiday or theme, I keep all of those scraps in a separate ziplock too. I started with just a basket that I kept on my work area, but went this route because I never used the stuff in the basket (too much of a pain to dig through!).

I plan on taking pictures of my scrap area tonight!!!

I have my scraps sorted by color and stored in 3ring binders. I also have each color sorted by CS and PP. I've got 3 binders of scraps, warms, cools and neutrals but I'm getting closer to needing a binder for each color!

ok, challenge two,,,,,,

12x12 paper and cs
8.5x11 paper and cs
inks, sprays, stickles and embossing supplies
stamps I use A LOT
stamps I rarely use
scraps
cutting and scoring area
bling
pearls/beads/etc
die cutting station/die storage
drying area/unfinished projects
finished cards
tools I don't use often
tools I use every day
ribbon and lace storage
GET A TRASH CAN.
flower making supplies/finished flowers

I also have some storage that's not working,,,,,I can get rid of that and have more room for shelves or something.

I really REALLY need a trash can. Part of the reason my scrap table is a disaster is that I only bring IN a trash can when I clean,,,,,,rather than being able to clean as I go,,,,,such a simple thing, why didn't I think of it before?

I've already got a few of these things in place, though they need a bit of tweaking, but what I have of these things is working pretty well (my die cutting station, for example)

We used to run a handyman company, so I had a bunch of the 5-gallon paint buckets left over. I cleaned them out and have since been using them for garbage cans (in the garage, the craft area x 3, and the laundry room). In my craft area, I have one garbage bucket by my workbench, one by my table, and one by the cricut station.

I think what I'm most afraid of with such a messy work area,,,,,is accidentally throwing away a nestie. a tiny spot of glue on a piece of trash paper and they stick,,,,,,,,,,,adios nesties!

having a scrap room ONLY trash can makes sense because I can check all my nesties before tossing it, and if there is one missing, I can go through the trash can and look before tossing it into the outside trash bin.

Another reason I like my die cutting station. It has two shelves,,,,,,,a lower, where I store all my nesties in DVD cases,,,,and an upper. When I use a set of nesties, I never put them back on the lower shelf until I've checked to make sure they are all there,,,,,,the case goes on the top shelf until it's been checked. THEN it gets put back.

I think it's the only part of my scrap room that actually WORKS.

Ok, I'm playing catch-up, but I'm just gonna jump in because this is actually my current project.

To start with, my scrap space is an attic. The house I live in has an unfinished full attic. Summers are crazy hot & winters are really cold. Ultimately I would luv to be able to spend all my free time up there which means I also have to use some of the space for my daughter

Challenge 1 - I luv that I have more space than I used to. I luv the pieces I have to use for storage. I luv that my space has a window. I luv that I have two desks, even though they are really old lol
I don't like that everything does not have a place and the stuff that has a place does not have easy access. My space is just not set up right. I also don't like that it is an unfinished attic which means it lacks insulation & proper flooring.

Now for Challenge 2 - Categories....well, this may take longer than I thought

Since I have a Birthday Party to attend soon, I think I will use that time to make my list of the Categories I will need & post later. Challenge 3 is going to be hard, but I will work on that tomorrow & hopefully have time to post some pics.

I've got Challenges 1 & 2 mapped out to type, but just wanted to share that my work table is officially cleaned off.

My paper is sorted by color and in transparent boxes WITH labels that allowed me to use some of my stash at the same time.

My scraps are still chaotic; as are my embellishments.

But, yeah, the table is clean!

Hey everyone! My area needs a ton of help! I hope it's ok for me to join in

Anyway, here are the previous challenges:

Challenge 1
LIKES:
- It's in my bedroom so I don't get distracted by family.
- I have a super comfy desk chair that I can sit in with both legs crossed; it has wheels and the seat swivels.
- My computer area is RIGHT next to my scrap area so I can easily take breaks from scrapping or follow a tutorial online.
DISLIKES:
- I have a very small folding table to work on. I constantly knock things off.
- My area is a small space, making putting supplies away difficult.
- My storage towers have nowhere else to stay but in front of the left side of my closet. I have to move the biggest one to get to anything in there, and it's a pain for sure!
- I have to use my bed as a surface to put things I'm not using at the moment; it has gotten so bad that I now only have half a queen size bed to sleep on -- the other side is covered in scrap stuff!

Challenge 2
- Paper stacks
- Loose paper and cardstock
- Paper scraps
- Embossing powder
- Ink pads
- Adhesives
- Inking/Stamping supplies
- Wood mounted stamps
- Acrylic stamps
- Ribbon
- Lace and trims
- Flowers
- Fibers/tulle/fabric/feath ers
- Buttons
- Brads
- Punches
- Stickles
- Glimmer Mist and other color sprays
- Beads, pearls, charms
- Packaged embellishments
- Chipboard and grunge paper
- Paint and foam brushes
- Letters/alphas
- Ephemera/vintage music paper
- Sizzix dies
- Embossing folders

Challenge 3
Since my table is so small nothing except for a cup of tools ever stays on there that I'm not working with.

Challenge one- currently hate everything about. I share an area with my husband and he has stuff everywhere. I have been bugging him to do something about it but no luck. What I WILL LOVE about my scrap area is the fact that we are building a desk and I get to customize my shelves and such to work for me.  I have the master plan, and we will work on it in increments.... We have a 16 month and 2 month old (meaning no spare time) and I am a  stay at home mom (meaning no spare money) so who knows how long it will take... But I am getting the desk in the next couple weeks! (btw, it will take up a 6x6 area, so it is not a huge space, but should meet my needs well.)

Challenge two-
Organized parts:
1. Paper- organized by color card stock, themed paper(holidays and such) and company packs.
Also usable scrap paper goes into color coordinated 3 drawers bins. And unusable in pickle jars to be made into paper later
2. Markers- on lazy Suzan on desk top
3. acrylic paint and ribbon in drawer
4. Abc in drawer, left over Abcs in sorting tray also in drawer
5. Embellishments like brads, feathers, stickers, buttons and other bling in a variety of containers that are adequate, but some could use prettier containers
6. Sprays, alcohol inks, and stickles velcroed in cases
7. Embroidery thread, stencils/masks, and colored pencils/paint brushes/accessories in 3 drawer bin
8. Computer and cricut (will have in new scrap area)
9. Larges drawer dedicated to all paper and embellishments I am collecting to finally do my wedding scrapbook
10. Sewing machine (will have in new scrap area)
11. Spray table with tattered angels misting mat for embossing and misting (will have in new scrap area)

Need better organization:
1.Paper flowers
2.Designed, colored or embellished flowers
3.Stamps (not a lot yet)
4.Ink (not a lot yet)
5.Correct sized container for mediums.
6.Fun foam
7.Adhesives
8.embossing supplies
9.Glue gun supplies
10.Long reach stapler and stables
11.Chipboard
12.Items used for painting textures
13.Cute trash can
14.Fabric lace and mesh
15.Beads

I picked up 6 small felt baskets (in lime green that matches my cricut!) that might work for some of these storage needs... The are not practical, but very cute!

Challenge three- I cleaned up my "current" scrap area which is our kitchen counter and dinning table from my projects today so we could have supper, but my actual scrap area is not going to get cleaned up until I get my new desk and have a place to put things.

Just checking in. My desk is starting to get messy again since I am working on an album gift for someone but I am trying to put everything back and clear things as I go, so that when I am done I won't have so much to clean.

My desk is clean, I took some before pictures to upload here and I got my closet cleaned out. I've come up with some good ideas that I want to implement for ribbon and my punches.

I realized I never actually posted a "listed" of my needs so here it goes:

Paper storage or how to break them down
Card stock storage
Storage for my Stampin Up card stock (I want them separate)
Stickles storage
Glimmer mist
Alcohol inks
Glimmer Glaze
Distress paint/paint daubers
Grundge board/paper
Embellishments
flowers
Dauber Sponges
"Extra stuff" that just builds up

can I join?

challenge 1:
likes:
my scrapping corner is in my living room so I can watch tv and be with the family while I scrap
the desk faces in to the room instead of the wall
the IKEA desk an d shelves look like furniture (black) an no like a crafting area
I have buckets and drawers on the shelves to help organize

dislikes:
I have zero wall space, so items like a wall ribbon organizer are out of the question
the distance between the desk and the back wall is too narrow, and I have no space to move around
all of my drawers are unlabeled and I have more categories than drawers
my punch collection is getting way out of hand I have no place to keep them ... they are currently on my desk and in buckets
there is no space to expand ... the amount of room I have now is all I'm going to get

Hi Mad!!!!!!!!

well, my table is clean, finally,,,,again.

and my book shelves are clean too,,,,I found I couldn't put things away and be able to find them until I at least cleaned off the two tall bookshelves in my room. so those are done. Nothing is permanent though so I might change locations, or whatever, but they are clean enough to find things anyway.
