WELCOME TO February 2012 PHOTO FUN

Through this group I've made some wonderful friends and enjoy meeting new friends in our group each and every month. If you are joining for the first time this month, you're in for a treat - what a FABULOUS group of caring/sharing women. Welcome everyone!

Lots of us have cameras we use now and again for a snapshot or two. Some of us have new cameras itching to be put to use and get more familiar with. Sound like FUN?! It IS!!!! Get your camera out and USE it. Just take pictures, share pictures, and stretch your camera use beyond where it is today. We all love photos -and photos are the heart and soul of our scrapbooks. Let's take GREAT photos - Experiment. Try different lighting, try "on location" shoots -even if that means taking an orange outside and taking it's photo on the lawn.

RULES:

1- Take 15 photo's throughout the month. These can be of what ever you choose. You may post them at any time (just try not to post all at once). Please link them to your gallery for easy access for comments.

2 - NO STRESS - if you aren't having fun it's not worth doing

3 - Comments - We all LOVE comments on our photos so please make an effort to visit/comment as possible, but ---
SEE RULE 1 - NO STRESS. If you don't have time to comment on photos (or can only comment on some) that's FINE!

4 - MISSING PHOTOS - SO WHAT? See rule 1 - NO STRESS. Life gets in the way - it happens to all of us. Post your photos when you can - See RULE 1 - NO STRESS

Just join in and SHARE!!!

How to add a clickable image to your post.
1. Pull up the image you wish to share.
2. To the left of your screen about at the bottom of your image you will see "LINK/EMBED IMAGE". It's just below the Facebook, Twitter, & Pin it buttons. Click the link.
3. When the box comes up mark the IMG Code. Left click on the copy & paste code box..it will turn blue. Right click on it to paste.
4. Next, go to the thread where you want to post your image. Click in the text space and paste your code.

************************* ************************* *************

We will be having an end of month photo contest each month. You may submit 1 photo YOU have personally taken. PM me with it by the date requested to be entered in our POLL. Oh, make sure you have the "Allow Public Embedding" checked so I may post it in the poll. We will have one winner per month unless there is a tie. If you are the monthly winner PM me your address. I will be looting my personal scrapbook stash to share with you to help keep my cost down. You might find an extra surprise in there too! Just so it's fair to all our players...please make sure if you submit a photo for the contest you have completed all 15 photo's for the month and YOU have personally taken them during the current month. The mini challenge photo's are not required, simply for fun. You can however, submit one of your challenge photo's (mini's) to the contest.
*End of Month photo contest entry deadline: February 27th by 6pm EST (I will post poll the evening of the 27th)

************************* ************************* ************

GO & HAVE FUN!!

Challenges you want, challenges you get-these are just for fun - no obligation! Use these 10 prompts to inspire your photos in any way you see fit. There are no right or wrong ideas.

JCI.

I'm trying a new crock pot recipe I found for chicken and dumplings. So far it's smelling good...hope everyone here likes it. I put a can of veg-all in it that the recipe didn't require...U man might not go for that. Oh well, he can pic around them.

Also, have been checking out online hotel discount places. I've never really checked into them but from what I'm finding the prices are no different than what the hotel says they go for. Maybe it's just off season or something.

Off to get Uriah and then guess what? Yep, I'm sure most of you guessed it....heading to the rink, lol!

I have a question! Do any of you know where online I can buy the individual greeting card protectors? I am hopefully going to do a craft fair in May and if I decide to sell my cards, I want to put them in protectors. I think it will maybe make them more "sale-able". I did a search at jo-ann's, but not really sure what to call them.

Hi Carolyn...Try protective greeting card sleeves or A2 clear envelopes, I assume you're making A2 cards [5.5x4.25]...I found some on several sites that are really reasonable...if you can not find anything PM me and I'll tell you where I found them. Hope this helps!

Hi Darci! I make different size cards; including A2 and also the half-fold. I have found a few sites, but please PM me yours. That way I can compare prices/s&h. Thanks!, Carolyn

They sell them at Michaels, in an odd place like with the crepe paper and party things. I have gotten them on line too but don't remember the name of the company, Google "greeting card makings or something like that. Good luck. they really are important if you are selling.

We are in the process of making our bouncy balls. So far we have 2 done and he is now working on making a double batch one. If one ever decides to make homemade bouncy balls...just go buy one from the quarter machine! Off to supervise FrankenUman and his creation....he's at the adding food coloring part!

Just decided on a name for the other cat! Boomer! As in "boomerang"! No matter how many times I move him off of something he will "boomer rang" right back on it! He and Pearl don't get along at all. He hisses and Pearl growls. So far, Pearl and Silver get along pretty good.
Have a good evening everyone!

Krista here is one link that I used. They are very easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. Just google homemade bouncy balls...The picture this site uses for their balls...don't know what they did but ours didn't look anything like them, even with clear glue!

Hi Melissa and Darla!

I love the cat names Carolyn

Kate I have a hard time imagining you slowing down.

Lori i'll take your word for it and just stick a quarter in the bouncy ball machine. They do look like a blast though.

Hiking today was spectacular. G is such a tough cookie on the trail and the views were amazing. I'll have to get my photos uploaded tomorrow.

I finally make it back here and I am not off to a very good start.

Nick has had a nasty cold starting for the last couple of days and a fever that just wouldn't go away. When he get sick, he fights a fever for no more than 2 days and it breaks... well I knew when we hit night 3 of it something more than a regular cold.

Sure enough I took him into the doctor this afternoon and he has an ear infection.

He is 4 1/2 and we managed to go this long with no ear infections and never having to give him an antibiotic. He started amoxicillin (sp?) today and it has done one heck of a job on his tummy

He never mentioned his ear hurting, the doctor even poked around a bit and put pressure in certain places... he never even flinched. She said by looking in his ears he should have been crying and carrying on just sitting there... instead he was bopping around the exam room singing a song about goldfish crackers.

She said he must have a really high tolerance for pain!

*Lori... homemade bouncy balls?!?! Sounds pretty cool! Though, I doubt we will be trying those anytime soon!

*Anna - I work part time evenings at a bank as a proof operator. All I do all evening is key in the amounts on the checks that the bank branches scan and send to us, then we balance those batches of checks and send them off to the fed so the bank can open the next day. It's kind of boring I suppose, but I really like it

Steph, good to see you; sorry Nick is getting sick. Looking forward to pics of your sweetie!

Computer keeps shutting down on me again....getting it looked at is really on my to do list; just can't find the list!!!! And for some reason, the site wouldn't allow me in the galleries to comment...what is up with that!!!!

Gonna try again....

Carolyn I love the cat names!

I managed to get tomorrow off work, but I got talked into working Saturday. How did that happen?! BUT, I may drag DH to the zoo tomorrow as they have cheap tickets for this month!

Good morning all!

Welcome to the newbies!

Linny, this site has been acting weird for a few weeks now. I think it is time for the sb.com crew to upgrade or something.

Stephanie, I worked in a bank for 19 years before moving over to brokerage. I never worked in Proof but am very familiar with your job and I would have enjoyed working in that department. I am still good friends with the lady who was our Proof Dept. manager. Can't remember what you said about your hours....day or night?

Tammy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Got some ideas for my minis. Driving thru town, I was surprised at some of the Valentines decorations out and wanted to take some photos but we are having rain.....again! But at least it is not snow! May, just maybe, the sun will shine again soon.

Lori, how far away are you from Indianapolis? Is there a Super Bowl trip in store for you?

We have a fellow playing in the Super Bowl from our area. He's #44 for the Giants. This is JFS....

Wow! This group is going to be fun! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks for the warm welcome! I dusted my camera off yesterday and took a few shots for my family history book (life as we know it). I'm trying to document changes throughout the years. For example, cost of gas or milk, styles of cars in a crowded lot, new building architecture, etc.

@Erjann - I usually get my card protectors on Amazon.com. They have 2 sizes and come in packs of 10 for $5.

Anna.....I live in Indianapolis. I'm only a 7 minute drive from downtown. I have not experienced any issues from the Superbowl madness other than all the police out in full force, getting all the extra revenue they can! It has been an issue with DD who goes to school downtown. She actually did not go to class today. All week it has taken her at least an hour to get to her school. Roads closed, security, mobs of people. I have had no desire to venture downtown at all. Photos would be nice but.....

Celebs are all over according to the TV. I had friends that were down in Superbowl village last night. Steven Tyler was eating at a really nice place, St. Elmos. Yesterday, there was a very large group of protesters ruining everyone's experience in the village. A few thousand Union protesters doing their best to mess things up for families trying to enjoy their day. I heard this morning that Johnny Depp is staying in the town where we play hockey, about 40 minutes south of me here in Indy. Oh how I'd love to brush into him......LITERALLY!! The hotel is sorta eccentric...fits his low profile image. On the radio yesterday I heard that a man put his house up for rent for incomers. He got a $500K offer with a $100K deposit. The stipulation was he had to have EVERYTHING cleaned out of his house within 24 hours. After he signed the contract he found out is was Cher renting his house. Apparently she brings everything with her. I'd do that for $500K!!! I'm amazed at the amount of money people are getting to rent out their homes....it's unbelievable!

I think it would be neat to tour the stadium. Maybe if ticket prices weren't so high for the games it would be more appealing but I doubt it. I've been to 1 NHL game, Christmas Eve several years ago. I was 8 months pregnant with Uriah. Colts were playing the Vikings, both DH and myself are Vikings fans. Growing up my family liked them so I would always cheer them too. My fondest memory of going to the game was getting pelted with peanuts from a group of drunks behind me. It took awhile but they were finally thrown out. I don't even watch football anymore, not that I did a lot anyway. Hockey's my sport and I'm sticking to it!

Bouncy ball info.....they do bounce but not high. We found that they bounce higher on carpet vs hard flooring. On the carpet it got around waist high, hard floor...knee high.

Oh Lori, you gotta go find Johnny Depp! What a photo op that would be!!!!

I've never been to a pro football game, and would love to go. We usually watch football every Sunday. Then when it's over with we pick up with NASCAR. We used to go to the races every year, but it is just too expensive for all of that travel now. Plus, not as young as we used to be either.

Good morning!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMMMY!!!!MAY YOUR DAY BE FILLED WITH MANY BLESSINGS!!!!

Ashley, hope you get to the zoo...still one of my fav places to visit!

Martica, I voted....very difficult, they're all beautiful!

Been googling to find out what diabetics should eat since dh seems to have finally gotten serious about taking care of himself. I was surprised that red meat and organ meats were a no-no. I thought it was just carbs you needed to worry about. dh loves tripe and was eating a lot of it lately ... might be why his numbers were up.

It's a cloudy, cold day here.

Happy Thursday

so according to the news - the two Manitoba Groundhogs had different outcomes. (One is a puppet, so they say his might not count. hehe). So according to the real one - more winter to come, according to the puppet - spring is coming early. Doesn't make any difference - winter is winter, but I'm loving the mild weather, so I'll keep it.
