Love this cheap tape from T's. $4 for a 4 roll pkg. It tears nicely, translucent & does not smell.

Mine has some Smash tape but not those adorable tapes up there. I know, I check every day.

Hello, my name is Melissa and I am addicted to Target.

Bet you guys have some right in your own homes...!!

Take tissue paper (for wrapping, not for wiping ) colored or white, doesn't matter.

Ink and stamp and draw and color and make all kinds of pretty.

THEN, use scor-tape or red line tape and apply it, leaving one side of the adhesive covered. Cut/tear as desired.

Voila!!

Hope I explained that clearly enough

Yes Target. In the office supply aisle. 4 rolls per package $4.00 (red/pink, blue/purple, orange/yellow, aqua/green)

I do make my own Washi using tissue paper & Scor-tape. I like the 1" wide and coloured/decorated tissue papers from Target dollar bins.

I just found some at Wal-mart! Elmers brand washi tape and some more colors
I found it in the kid craft area with all the elmers glue stuff. I think it was 7.49.

Up & Up. The Target brand.

They were in the aisle where all of the tape and office supplies are, but they're not by the tape. These were all the way at the end in a section with brightly colored office/desk supplies.

I got two sets. Knowing me I'll go back for the other two. Tomorrow.

I watched a video about how to make fabric tape and that looks pretty fun... now to find THAT type of tape around here and I can start playing (bought a awesome fabric remnant last night that will coordinate with my new cardstock)

googling gave me this: "Washi comes from wa meaning Japanese and shi meaning paper, and the term is used to describe paper made by hand in the traditional manner."

I use it as embellishments - strips on the corners or lines down the page, banner flags, tape to stick down pieces of papers.

I just used it to tape down a vellum sheet, the adhesives I use show thru vellum, so i used some washi tape to tape it down to the cardstock.

Here are a couple of quick cards I made this morning:

(I'm definitely going back to get the other two packs, you just can't beat that price.)

I use Washi on layouts the same way I use paper strips, and I love to make banners with them.

I found the tape at Target. I LOVE it- can't thank you enough for letting us know! I bought all of it. Wait, not their entire stock, I mean I bought one of every kind available. It's a good price!

I've already made a couple of cards, just to try it out, lol. I love tape!

Couldn't find the Elmers tape yet, tho-

Kory, I stopped by your blog - love your cards!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments. I redid the cake one, the embossed paper was bugging me. So I embossed the colored cardstock and left the white plain. Much better!

I picked up the other two packs of tape so I can create a whole set of monochromatic cards.

Thanks, again, to Stacey! I never would have found those tapes on my own.

The Target ones are a way better deal than wal-mart (but I love the black/white/pink elmers ones I got)

I tried to leave a little praise on your blog about your cards kory, but it did not post... since it was a bit long I did not want to retype and gave up... so anyway, cool cards! lol

Because it is a bit translucent, its appearance when it's on the roll is a bit deceiving. I at first thought the same thing- but liked the designs/patterns on it enough and bought them all. It looks just as pictured here, when you pull some off the roll and put it on something!

I bought some of the Target Happy Tape today! I was kinda underwhelmed at the store but bought it anyway. Bought one of each package but they were out of the pink/red. So I will go to the Fayetteville store tomorrow and maybe even WM to see if they have the Elmers.

I just used some on a mini album I am making for one of the girls at work and WOW! I am in love! Swoon!! This stuff is awesome! It gave my tags just the little "pop" they were needing. I am using Echo Park Little Girl paper and it matched.

I found them at our Target! Bought all three packages. Don't know when I'm gonna use them but I'll add them to my hoard.
I stopped by our Hobby Lobby and found the Tim Holtz Lost and Found stack on clearance, snapped that up and used my 40% off coupon on a Graphic 45 stack called Botanicabella. All in all a pretty good haul.

I JUST FOUND the ever-elusive Elmer's tape at da Wal-Marks! (Did your Grandparents call it 'The Wal-Marks?' )

My Mom called me up, asking for a ride to WM, to exchange a car battery. I used it as a chance to check out another WM for the *@&$ tape. Found it! I only bought one pack, tho- I only liked one package of it- another pack had one roll in the pack I liked, but I didn't want the other rolls. And since I'm up to my neck in tape now, I could live with just three more rolls max.

Thanks to my Step-Father rediscovering the working world in retirement and becoming a Wal-Mart door greeter (is this a new stage in life?) - I was able to get 15% off the tape. Actually, my Mom got the discount (I guess they don't question WHO it is wielding the employee card) cuz she bought the tape for me.

Aren't Moms great?

-kory

Kory -how does the tape compare to target and "normal" washi tape?

I had a friend that worked at walmart and I think she said spouses could use the discount and she was mad that her live in boyfriend could not... but she makes things up sometime just to complain, so I am not sure.

I havent unwrapped it and played with it, yet- it doesn't seem to be as colorful- but it's nice. I got the dark colored set. I guess that's why it's not as colorful, lol. I guess I'm trying to say it seems a bit more matte?

I'm another "who cares I like it & I'm going to use it" scrapper. I have stuff in my 43 yo baby book that have turned "vintaged" but still in great condition ie. held up to abuse, the pages are intact and no tearing/falling apart of photos & memorabilia

Isn't the important thing not having the non-acid free stuff not touching the photo? ..woah, too many nots...Um, I mean photos should only have acid free things touching them and it is more or less ok for things not acid free to be on the rest of the layout?

I never worry about acid free when I'm doing cards. I don't plan on them lasting forever.

By the way - does the Elmers tape have a backing you have to peel off, or is it just sticky-backed like regular Washi tape?

I went to 2 WalMart's and couldn't find any either. Might hit the 3rd one (about 30 minutes away) over the holiday weekend.

Thanks! I hadn't looked for the Elmers brand - I'll do that. I don't care for the ones with the backing you have to pull off.

Im sorry I didnt take a picture. I saw blacks, reds, pinks~that I can remember. Scallops, regular, damasks, thick and thin, solids. I think there were 3 in the pack. They had them in the middle isle by the Recollections wall decore.

I've just returned from searching M's for their Recollections Washi. But of course I went to my nearest M's, which is the suckiest at putting stock out- none to be seen!!! They did have the new giant-size Smashbooks- but none of the new Smash Tape- but they did have a hook up for the new Calendar-Tape. Of course the hook was empty.

I hate my nearest Ms!

I wish SB.com would get the new Smash tape in stock!

Kory, I went to 2 M's today and got some good clearance items. The first 1 was 10 miles away. Where I saw the new items. They have some new SEI and Recollections pads too. The 2nd 1 was about 14 miles away, they didnt have much and their clearance items were blah...They did NOT have those tapes I mentioned to you.

I've been to 3 targets and not a roll of yellow to be found!

Do any of the Targets that you've found the yellow Washi tape at happen to be in Michigan or Ohio? I've been to six now and still no luck...
