Happy Mother's Day!

I have really enjoyed seeing all of your pink projects....they all look so awesome!

Eileen, I really wish I was going to meet up with you next weekend. So sorry I can't make it! DD and dsil will here Thursday night after dsil's brother graduation from the police academy. Even though they have to go back on Friday because of her work, I am so excited to have them home for a overnight stay. They have not been home since August when dh's dad passed.

Hello to everyone here and welcome back Tish!

Another very busy day with family! Hope your day is extra special as well.

Happy Mother's Day!

For NSD weekend I met some friends in Gary Texas for a weekend crop. Our hostess Terri got each of us a tray with tiles. She finished 3 tiles for each of us, we were to finish 3 tiles and then we were each asked to finish a tile for the other four ladies in our crop.

This is my finished tray

DH has gone to pick up our dinner--takeout from Outback. We started last year doing that instead of fighting the crowds. MIL likes it too--she doesn't have to be in a noisy restaurant.

I'm home - made it in 4.5 hours. Not bad. My bro called and he got Brian back to school safely. Watching the Yankees and then we're going to Outback. We always sit at the bar so we should be ok.

Anna -- I know wish we were getting together next weekend. Bummer. We can try again. And we'll do it!

No scrapping in my day. On the way home I made a promise to myself not to be upset with the state of the house. It's not easy. Kitchen is A MESS! I'll deal with it tomorrow.

Whew! I'm ACU again.

I had a great weekend w/Anitra but didn't get enough photos the weather here is blah, dreary & still raining.

Melissa, very sad to hear how things are with your sister but understand how you need to do what's best & safe for you too {{{Hugs}}}.

Christine, we don't go out for Mother's Day either, for today's dinner we picked up a honey baked ham & turkey breast, Anitra made green beans & pasta salad w/shrimp and I ate LOL, so a good deal all around.

Eileen, I have a crop/retreat next weekend too and I need to start getting some page kits together. Hope you're able to rest your ankle and congrats to your nephew!

welcome Heather!

Happy Mother's Day ladies! I got a hanging flower basket and card from Jim and the kiddos. Rylie made me a cute mosaic flower pot with her picture on it at school, and inside it they planted dill and parsley seedlings. Mason heard about heart jewelry from the car radio commercials and so he pestered daddy to buy a heart necklace that he could give me. It's beautiful, that boy is a keeper and will make somebody very happy someday! LOL! Then, I took my mom to lunch at Bob Evans. So, it's been a good day all around. Jim is now cooking chicken and sliders on the grill, with homemade french fries. Good grub!

I had a little scrappy time today too...

I kind of play Draw Something... I don't have a whole lot of time these days and I have like a zillion games that take me forever to cycle through.

I hope I never have to get to the point where I need to put a restraining order against her. The arm's length seems to work pretty well, though I think it bothers her as much as it does me that we can't have the close relationship that we once did. I guess I'd rather have an arm's length relationship with her than none at all, though.

I spent 3+ hours out working in the yard. MY BODY IS SO SORE! LOL! And yes, that is what I wanted to do on Mother's Day. I NEED to be able to like what I see when I look out the window, and my neighbors leave something to be desired, so I have to pick up the slack. Anna used to help me with the gardening, since I can't keep much alive (like seriously... day lilies and one other plant are all that have lasted me when I planted them the first time... now I have to redo the garden because everything else has died AGAIN because I didn't do very well last year. LOL).

Anyway, I hope everyone else had a great Mother's Day!

Went to OUtback -- yummy. I'm redoing the yard -- the men start work tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain here all week. Did ask for a new mail box -- we are still working on a compromise. LOL.

Going to clean tomorrow.

And yes Tena -- I've got to start getting things together. First, I have to print out my photo's

Hey everyone! ACU for now.

Happy mothers day! Sounds like everyone had a great day. I had a wonderful weekend with lots of scrappy moments. I uploaded tons of pics to Walgreens and will get those printed so they are in my "scrap queue". I did three LOs and two cards, and am in the middle of another LO (monochromatic) so I'm planning to post a bunch of stuff in the next day or two.

This is a busy week for me, business wise. I have a craft show next weekend that I hope will be big, and I have to get a lot of stuff done for it. (I sell my cookies at craft shows and will be doing a farmers market every Wednesday starting this summer.) I also HAVE to get lots done on my website this week. I might just hole up at Panera tomorrow. Seems if I commit to an office day at home, my scrap stuff calls my name all day. not good.

We did go out for Mothers Day, just to our favorite local spot for breakfast. We got there at 8, and we were about the last group that didn't have to wait for a table. We left around 9:15, and there was already a 90 minute wait! I'm glad we didn't go out for a full brunch.

Melissa-I am so sorry you are dealing with yucky stuff. I am sure we can all relate on some level! Hugs

Christine-what a lovely day you had!

Eileen-congrats to your nephew!

Norma-that sounds like such a fun weekend! I ask in my gallery comments, but are those tiles actual ceramic or cardboard? What size are they?

Hugs to all who need them!

its late, i'm tired and the kids are resisting sleep. we had a terrific, but long day. SO, i'm heading to bed, and will catch up and chat more tomorrow.

peace!!

Hi ladies, hope you all had a nice weekend. I feel like I was hit by a bus - yesterday, Cassie's dance portraits were taken, so it was over 8 hours in the dance studio standing/sitting on the wood floor and getting up and down a million times. My legs and back ache now! But we had a fun day together and with all her friends, which was great since Friday night, we had a screaming match with each other. Oy - teenage girls and their mothers... She's in 8 dances this year, and thus, had 8 portraits taken - lots of costume changes and hairdo changes.

Today, we had a lazy day - Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, takeout Chinese for lunch/dinner, naps, and a movie together tonight -- Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I haven't seen that in ages, and I just finished rereading the books - it seemed like a good mother/daughter thing to watch today. Especially since she gave me a new flatscreen tv for my present. We're still trying to figure out how to hook it up properly to all the existing components and get the HD working - but we got enough hooked up to watch an old DVD.

I keep saying this, and it keeps not happening, but I'm hoping to scrap tomorrow!!

Tomorrow is the last Moan-day with students, then one Moan-day to check out, and school's out for summer!! Here rock band playing in the background!!!

Had a quiet Mom's Day. My DS gf texted me a note, such a sweet girl! Son texted after a reminder from the other parental figure!

Friends came in from CA and we did a late dinner.

Tomorrow going to the funeral of one of the finest people I have ever known. It will be bittersweet. He was in great pain at the end, but I will miss his hugs, affirmations and amazing smile. Heaven is a better place with him there.

Glad it was a good day for most. G'nite!

Nancy -- yippee school is almost over!!!!! I know you're excited.

Lisa -- 8 dances and costume changes. OY. But the dunkin donuts sound yummy. We don't have dd here. Only Krispy Kreme -- not even close.

Brian sends me a note last night -- "Happy Mother's day. Can I place an order on Amazon". Hmmph. Oh well you gotta laugh.

I let him put things in the basket of amazon -- I check them - and give him the ok. boy it makes it easier than mailing. What did he order but a frisbee. Guess it's that time of year.

I love that - maybe we can set Brian and Megs up? that way we could be related. lol
I let Megs put stuff in the basket as well but she can't order anything - no way I'm letting her handle my credit card. But this way I know what she wants especially book titles, so anytime I want to surprise her with a little something I don't have to be guessing.

Good morning ladies! I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day! But sadly it is Moan-Day!

Welcome Heather! Welcome to our group! We have a great group of women here!

Norma, love the tile thing. What kind of tiles did you use? Do tell more how this is created, please.

Very kool avi, Bev! We did the Outback thing too. I love to eat there!

I like your new avi too, Mel!

Melissa, so sorry about the issues with your sister. One of my closest friends was bipolar so I know it is a very stressful situation for you.

Nancy, so sorry for your loss. I know you will be so relieved to be out of school for the year. Any update on your job situation?

Lisa, you will have lots of great dance photos to scrap!

It is pouring the rain here, started yesterday afternoon with light rain but it has really picked up the last few hours. News says we can get up to three inches by morning. I may need a boat! LOL

Have a great day ladies!

Good morning!!
It’s beautiful and sunny here. My day consists of getting my car serviced, working on my website at Panera, and heading to Jo-Ann’s. They had a mystery coupon thing where you scratch off and get 40, 50 or 60% off one item. I got 60%!! Not sure what I’m going to get with that, seeing as most things I want are on sale, and it’s not good for a Cricut. Probably Spellbinders dies, or a new trimmer, if the Fiskars aren’t on sale (but I think they are).
Can’t wait to see the monochromatic LOs. I’m not loving mine right now.
Heather-I forgot to welcome you yesterday. Welcome! This is a fun group.

Eileen-I worked my corporate job from home for 2 ½ years before leaving in 2010. I say working from home sounds great to people who dono’t work from home. Pros: No commute, no work wardrobe (which I actually missed!), minimal getting ready time, no office politics, you can get laundry and such done in between conference calls, and you don’t have to take time off for repairmen and such. Cons: YOU NEVER LEAVE WORK AT WORK, it is isolating (at least in my case) and you end up wearing sweats a LOT. I was in a virtual office setting where I never saw coworkers outside of travel (and I rarely traveled – my choice, since DD was just a baby when I took the job), and you miss that camaraderie of an office setting. It also depends on the job, I guess. Anyway, my business office is at home, but I do my baking/decorating outside the home, so I do get to see people.

Too funny about the Amazon order! I keep a Wish List on Amazon.
Lisa-By any chance, did Brennan Photography do your daughter’s dance photos? I know they are big in Mundelein and dance. They did my daughter’s baby portraits, and Traci and I have become friends. (She had mentioned she was doing a big dance program on Saturday,so I kinda put the two together.) If not – ignore my rambles. Sounds like a great Mothers Day!

Christine-Happy Moan-day is right!

Nancy-So sorry about the funeral. Never easy…

Hi, Anna!

OK, off to get things done!!

More work in the garden because I decided to spend $20 on 2 flats of flowers and a beautiful hanging basket.

I did need marigolds for my vegetable garden, though, and I wanted a border flower for my front garden since I've cleaned most everything out of it and something has to fill the space while the plants I split get a chance to fill out a little. And the hanging basket was my Mother's Day gift to myself.

Lisa, you will have lots of great dance photos to scrap!

Anna - an embarrassment of riches - I still have all of 2010 (5 dances) and 2011 (9 dances) to scrap! I actually pulled one out to work on today from '10.

Lesley - No, I've not heard of Brennan. Cass Photography out of Antioch always does Cassie's studio's portraits. She dances in Round Lake.

Melissa - Keep the gardening talk up - maybe I'll actually remember to order some new roses. Two of my bushes didn't make the winter I'm SO sad my Gemini bit the dust. It was my favorite. I want to get a Clematis to put against my chimney too, but I haven't found a trellis I like.

I have a LO to share - it didn't really turn out like I saw it in my head. These pp's are all from the same stack, but I don't think I like the random colors as much as I thought I would. I was going for a bright Lego colors kind of feeling. Oh well, another LO done...

Good morning. Had a good Mother's Day yesterday. Very low key though. The boys both wrote letters to me which was pretty cool. DH made a yummy lunch and we just chilled the rest of the day.
I usually use MD as my excuse to go get flowers and garden stuff but with the move coming up I have no reason to. We won't be in our new house until August so this will be the year without all the gardening for me. I will miss it. I love planting and putting colors together. And I am always so anxious for the first tomato from my garden. Oh well.
Nancy- The countdown is on! You can make it! Sorry you have to face a funeral today. Never easy.
Love the ideas about letting the kids put stuff in the Amazon basket. Great idea for getting ideas from them for when I need a little present to come up with.
Have a great day everyone!

For those of you that do a lot of embossing, can the doodling templates also be used for dry embossing? I'm don't do enough embossing to know what works and what doesn't.

Anitra & I did this all through college and it really does make things easier than hopping to the post office. I recently had to clear out old addresses from my Paypal account from her many moves.

Anna, not sure how that would work since the doodling templates does not have the raised level to push up into the paper like a tradition embossing folder. Hope that make sense.

It really does work well. He knows only to order Prime shipping. And he knows we will see if he orders something we think is inappropriate or not needed.

It really has been great and made life so much easier. And shipping is so much faster than I could do it.

Lesley -- here is my sweats rule. Elastic waist sweats are a much needed part of any wardrobe. But may never be worn more than 2 days in a row!! If I wear sweats or other elastic waist pants 2 days in a row. the next day I make myself wear a belt and tuck in!!! Keeps me from falling into a slump.

BBL to catch up on gallery love.

I went to nursery today and got some plants too. Got some herbs and put them in pots on my deck. Got some hanging baskets too. Now I'm living on the edge with the pots on my deck and around the pool -- dogs may win that battle. LOL

LOL! My idea of dressing up was wearing jeans and a sweater that didn't have baby barf on it.

Lisa, great prizes, I'm hoping to get mine today. Just in time for my upcoming retreat this weekend.

I'm ACU for now, have a great Moan-Day everyone

Tena, I'm curious where you're doing your retreat? Is it at someone's house or one of those official scrapbook retreat places? I'm so intrigued by those!!

Hi Lesley, Yes. It's at a retreat house called Camp-Crop-Alot in Temple, GA. Our group has a weekend retreat there twice a year in May & Oct. We are now on retreat #12 and have been meeting up since 2006. I have been so blessed to meet some wonderful, beautiful souls on this site & others through this great hobby and love every minute of it!

Lesley, I lived in Roselle until I was about 10. I went back to visit about 7 years ago, and almost didn't recognize the town. It wasn't the little town I had lived in anymore!

So am I the only one from VLB that didn't win. Oh well, glad some of my buddies did.

Brendan and I watched a video tonight about the 2004 Christmas Tsunami in Indonesia/Thailand. Wow -- I forgot the devastation. he was too young to remember it happening. He was stunned. Has left me feeling a bit spent.

Well -- remember how I thought I might scrap. NOT!! Never even made it up the stairs. As Annie said "Tommorow, Tommorw, I Love you Tomorow; It's only a day away!".

Lesley (and Anna!) it was a wood tray and wood tiles, they were 3x3 and she got them at WalMart!

Sounds like many of you had lovely Mother's Days

I spent mine working but when I got home my husband had the house spotless, both the kids asleep, dinner made and dessert in the oven. Sophia gave me a paper mache basket of handmade soap. Made in her Kindy class...she was so proud, so cute!

OK, off to try and get a little more caught up...

jci to stay cu

Cassie got her permit today, and I took her out driving -- Oh boy. This is going to be interesting. I didn't think it would be so hard to teach someone to drive. She's pretty terrified, and it will be QUITE awhile before she can go out on a real road. We had enough adventure in a near deserted parking lot. Help me.

I finished one tonight, but it's too dark to get a pic now. Hope everyone survived Moan-day

Good night!

I am dripping with envy over the yummy prizes from NSD. I totally missed it because of house hunting, so no Eileen, you aren't the only one who has to sit back and drool!

Have two to take pics of but somehow I lost my memory card from my camera. I know I took it out to upload some photos and have no idea why I didn't put it back. I have to go clean my scrap room and hope to find it. Have to pack up for a scrap on Saturday too. My best friend and I are doing our last girl's scrapping day before I move. Bittersweet.

Good morning girls! Hope everyone is well.

I stayed off the computer last night and actually got some scrapping done. Rainy and dreary here so photos and uploads will have to wait until sunnier days. Amazing how much one can do when one stays off the computer…and off sb.com…and off Pinterest!

Hugs and prayers to all that need them today!

Lots of great stuff to add to your stash Lisa, Tena, and Melissa!

Good luck with the driving lessons, Lisa! It was so stressful for me and dd when she was learning to drive. Now she drives, like a pro, on some of the busiest roads I’ve ever been on!

Thanks Tena! I played around with it and realized what you said is correct. I don’t have a brick embossing folder so I was trying to figure out an alternative. But doodling templates are not the solution!

Hello to everyone here!

Hey All,

Dropping off another LO (from DD's recital on Saturday -- couldn't wait to scrap it, but I'm not sure what I had in my head came out on paper).

And pics of my scrappy haul today. Apparently the **Thickers** truck landed at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. They are $1.49 a pack, and are super cute! TJ Maxx also had these great sticker packs for $3.99 each. There are like 8-10 sheets of stickers in each pack. There are a couple I won't use, but those can be donated or swapped.

I also went to Michaels to get one of the EK punches I wanted (with a coupon): the big circles and a dimensional flower. Well, the 40% off all punches sign was up in the aisle, so I thought they were 40% off. WRONG, they rang up at full price. I brought the sign over to the cashier, and he tried to argue that the deal was expired. I argued that the sign was in the aisle; customers don't check the expiration dates, especially two days into the new ad week. So he took the 40% off one, and let me use my coupon for the other one. Whatever.

Tena-That scrap retreat sounds amazing -- what wonderful memories! I hope to go to one of those someday; unfortunately, none of my friends scrap! So I'll have to stick to Archivers crops for now, and I'll do the crop at Scrapbook Expo in August.

Lisa-Driving Miss Cassie sounds like a nailbiter to me! I'm not looking forward to the driving days. Mostly because I remember how my parents were when they took me behind the wheel -- eek!

Have a great afternoon!

Great hauls Lesley.

Lisa -- brian got his permit this past spring break. Grey hair!!

Well I went back to the shelter after almost a month away (there had been a distemper outbreak and then a personality problem with the manager (maybe she has distemper too).). LOL.

Anyhow -- same ol same ol. Poor babies -- and there are way tooooo many of them. Desperately sharing them with rescues tonight but I fear I'm fighting an uphill losing battle for most of them.

LOL! I actually thought of scrapping my scrappy haul and putting it in my Fancy Pants Brag Book! When I first started scrapping, I was obsessed with haul videos on YouTube. I don't know how I found them...I guess one popped up during my endless YouTube searches for techniques. I found them fascinating! So that's how I knew that TJ's, etc. sold all these scrappy things for cheap! I can't bring myself to do a haul video, but every now and then, I like to post a haul. It's my way of being accountable for my scrappy shopping.

Oh, and I got a sales flyer from Joann's -- most of their scrapbook stuff will be 50% off over Memorial Day. Look out!

Up way too late but couldn't sleep.

Lisa & Eileen, you'll always worry about them being safe while driving but once they get the hang of it, it's not a bad thing at all, pretty soon you won't have to do all the dropping off & picking up...but it is pretty scary at first.

Lesley -- I have one foster pup right now. I try to keep it at one. I have 3 of my own plus a cat (who is a very angry kitty these days!).

So I'm in complete procrastination mode. I so need to get packed for my weekend crop.

My scrap room is a mess -- so much stuff is out and scattered all over. My question is -- should I organize and put everything away and then pack. Or should I just pack. I'm sure I'll think about this question for a while.

Think I'll print photo's first! LOL

Tena & Eileen - the thing with the driving is, I had no idea she would be so scared/clueless. I don't remember what it was like to not know what being behind the wheel feels like. She almost plowed into all the cars in the next row of the parking lot while just pulling straight out of a space. I didn't realize that turning would be so hard! LOL. I was reaching over and frantically turning the wheel for her and yelling 'step on the brake, step on the brake!' Oy. God forbid what will happen when she has to go in reverse. I know it will get better, but I'm not really sure how to go about teaching her. She definitely needs to be more comfortable before she starts with the official instructor after Memorial Day. Good thing I get my roots done in a couple weeks - there will be a lot more gray hair by then.

LMBO...Lisa, turning left was hard for Anitra too, we practiced in an empty parking lot with the left turns until she felt comfortable. But she was much more at ease driving with DH than me and he had a lot more patience with her. I don't even remember driving with her in reverse or parking, I probably would be bald by now LOL!

Both my parents *refused* to teach my sister and I how to drive. That was left up to the driving instructor. My dad gives me tremendous anxiety on a regular day; learning to drive with him would have killed me, I think! LOL

Hey all,

Busy work day for me. Last night, I managed to get THREE LOs done. Gotta love those “fast pages” in scrapbook magazines, and a page kit comes in handy every now and then.

Melissa-That sure is one long class! Will we see more drawings later?

Eileen-I feel you on scraproom organization. Did you take before pics? Where is your crop?

Lisa-Oy is right! My dad took me to an empty parking lot. My turns were so wide that he said, "You just took out a bus full of school children!!" Niiiiice!

Hi to everyone else! Here are today’s LOs. I’ll probably do some tonight while watching Idol with DD.
