Good morning all......Yes I am late...been up a long time...just not in here.

First and foremost.....HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TISHIE.......

Have a wonderful weekend in CT....although it appears the weather is going to be rainy...sorry about that part of it. I wish it would rain here. Interesting the weather says we are having all this rain, but not at my house. It somehow rains all around us.....thundering, lightening and not a drop of rain. It has only rained twice since I have been home, and nothing memoriable about either rain...doubt if it was an inch all totaled....sooooooooo everything at my house needs water again. Sigh!

Oh gosh Tish.... another birthday I didn't check for... I'm bad.

Hope tomorrow is good. Well, hope it is great.

Wellll I missed it too. How come it is not letting me know like the others????? I get a notice in time to send a card or at least a message.

Happy Birthday and sorry I am late!

Di, thank you, but another birthday....eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeoooooouuuuu! Just kidding, just another day, another year older and wiser hopefully!!!!! No special plans other than our trip to Connecticut!

Well I am late too....I did not get a notice. I thought it was near the 21st. I really did think about it yesterday, because I really thought it was near Karen's!!!!! Sorry Tish......Happy Happy Birthday to you. When do you leave for CT????

I forgot that too.

Hello there Betsey, it will probably be close to six o'clock tonight before we get out of here. Tim works until 4:30 pm or later, then he has to pack up baby Muffet and bring her here for Allen to cat sit. Max is here now and we will be ready and waiting. I dread the ride, and Tim dreads the drive. He hasn't been to Colchester for 20 years he said!!!!!!!

Good Morning!
It rained cats and dogs last night!!! Right now it is only overcast but word has it, it will be rainy all day leading to a better weathered weekend!
Watching a family on STEVE...they were unplugged... all technology taking from them for 48 hours....They are learning to interact with each other...This is wonderful...my problem with this is...NO ONE lives in a house that big, that clean...she must have a cleaning crew in there 24/7... not a fingerprint on the ipad, they were using in the beginning...the crew went through every room..not one dusty place I mean this place was SPOTLESS TOP TO BOTTOM, everything shiny and buffed, finish on kitchen table like glass...It truly was unbelievable.... Oh and the techie stuff they took!!! Had to be about $10, 000 worth...each a personal laptop, ipod, tv, m3 players...the list goes on and on...holy moly!!!

Jojo rained cats, dogs and frogs here this morning! Allen is still out there somewhere yard saling! Max and I are hunkered down here. I have my list ready of things to pack. Will not need much. I must remember my IPAD charger, My Camera charger and my cell phone charger! LOL

Well I sure wish a crew would come here and make my house dust free (at no charge of course!)

Cathe there is also a link on my timeline somewhere. The video is really nice on You Tube. Julie is in farm country, but beautiful country right near many beautiful spots in Maine. (as we are also)

That COw ---- Poop Corner sign has been there for years, and someone steals it???????

Betsey, I just wanted you to know that this site is crazy for me too...So weird. I did not even see your posts until just a few minutes ago...so weird the way they are coming in!

It never acted this way with me until the last few weeks, or the last month.

I am lucky if I see lots of posts.

Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes.
For some reason I would love a pretty birthday cake! LOL....I wonder why? No one here to eat one except Max and I, but we could send the remnants to John. I do have a beef roast cooking for John and I want Allen to take it to him later in the day. He will love this. He is not a cook that is for sure!

Happy Birthday to you, TISH!!! I am glad you are going to CT with Tim and Max. It will be a nice outing for you! If I lived closer to you I'd get you a nice decorated cake...I could make the cake part easily enough, but the decorating it is beyond me!

UPDATE: The lady that was flown out had her hip pinned in two places yesterday. She also broke her wrist. She is doing well and after rehab is planning on returning home.

My MIL fell last evening as well. Her arm is all black and a big place on her arm is missing the skin. Her skin is SO thin and she bruises so easily! Roy and I went over and put a dressing on her arm. She says she is not hurt any other place...I have not checked this morning but will do so shortly! She was in a hurry to get to the bathroom.

I'm not familiar with that show.. interesting conception though... My sis in-law lives in a big beautiful spotless house.. yes, weekly cleaning lady, just two of them, gardener and not much cooking happening. She's a dear though; does wonderful volunteer work and will help anyone who asks.

Caught up... good morning. I hear we might have a rain storm this weekend. I guess I'll mow today; if hubby is painting. which I think he will do. It's sunny.

Our son is due soon to put a new light in the kitchen over the sink. He has to get up in the attic to move wiring. He's working 4 Ten's for a month and is excited to have Fridays off. Nice timing being it's summer.

ok, I'm back to sewing this a.m. I bought material and foam 3 years ago to make two cushions for our chairs on the front porch.. Finally doing it. woohoo

Actually, without the signature things, it is 2" less space on my screen.

I believe it has to do with the number of posts....not the size of the screen. We eac h have ours set for 50 posts and 50 replies, so it does not matter if its one line post or a 25 line post, it's still one post. I am pretty sure that is the way it's set up. It's not about space at all, at least that is what I was led to believe.

We change pages after 50 posts/50 replies....what I have never known, is this: Does that mean 100 altogether or 50 total. ??????? Anyway, I don't think it has anything to do with out signatures!

Cheryl, you are a jewel to do this! So glad we have someone in the group who knows how it is done. Yay...for getting back to your exercise program!

Tish, have a wonderful trip and visit with family this weekend. As to the current trend...the movie lifestyle has been absorbed by our younger generation to the point that they believe the right way is "getting the cart before the horse" with living together, having a baby/home and then marriage (maybe). Sure was not the norm 50 years ago!

I think anyone could learn how to do the change assuming its as easy as Cheryl says. The issue is that only the Hostess can do it.....isn't that right? There is some type of password or system that requires that only the Hostess has access to that first page information which is why Cheryl has to put the challenges up and no one else can. Is this right, or is this another fable of our previous hostess????? Sigh!

What is STEVE????? I have no idea what all that is about....unplugged????? Is it a reality show???? I am in the dark here......! not that that is new news either....I am in the dark often when it comes to some techie stuff. LOL

For example, when Matthew moved all my stuff around, had to unhook much of my computer, and my TV, DVD etc......and then hook it all back up when we moved the furniture in......NOW I have no sound on my computer and can't seem to figure out why????? I have tried all the things I know, and nothing happens. Sooooooo until I can get him over here again, I have nothing.

I am glad I am going with Tim and Max, and glad Allen will babysit Muffet. I know she is "just a kitty" but I didn't want her to be alone from tonight until late Sunday. She is keep Allen entertained!

I was joking about the cake, but I do love pretty cakes!

Oh your poor MIL, I hope she is just bruised and hasn't broken anything. My fall last weekend left me with a skinned up knee and it is now quite yellow looking! SO glad nothing broke!

Betsey, I used to be quite techie myself, but truly simple things are not as simple for me as they used to be. Even the games on Facebook aren't as easy for me! As far as sound, it could be a couple of things. Down at the very bottom of my computer screen, is a speaker icon. Can you check to see if they are turned up.

Also I was trying to hear a You Tube Video the other day, and no sound. I found I had to actually click on the speaker on the You Tube Video. I am sure it is something Matt will fix for you when he stops by!

Well I really need to shower and get my bag packed. Tim will be here in three hours raring to go.

I also had a nice surprise! I had a flower delivery an hour ago. Opened the card attached and it said, Happy Birthday from your favorite son.

OK, I do have four sons, so had to narrow it in my mind. My first thought was Tim, then Dennis. Then I said no, Dennis always calls himself my #1 son, it is Tim that is always saying "favorite son". I called the local florist in Unity to make sure before I thanked the wrong son! LOL

They were from Tim!

Jody, aka...Jojo...aka..Jobo,

I have to be stupid and ask what STEVE is too. Is that a network channel? the name of a show?

My grandson is being so quiet playing on my IPAD today. I am beginning to feel guilty and think I should get myself ready packed and then sit and read to him. I don't like him playing so long on the IPAD. Such a good little guy and growing up to fast.

How are all your family??????

The above post just erased itself.....sigh!

I have checked all the computer areas having to do with the speakers.......and all is turned up all the way, all is turned on...so I don't know what happened.

I will have to have Matt come over again and check. I tried, one more time hooking up the external speakers that go to this computer, but they don't work either. sigh!

It's really why I don't have music or anything needing sound going on here. If I have to have sound with a video, I can't hear it....it drives me nuts. This is why tutorials have always been hard for me to watch...I only have had the in screen sound, and it is very low. Even with the volume up all the way, it's not very loud and I can barely hear it on lots of videos....probably why I don't watch many on here. LOL

I turned on the pool heater. I hope air warms up. Casey said it was supposed to be 82 today, but Rum said 74 and we are swimming at one o'clock so that is not the hottest part of the day. Oh well, I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh, my...the water in Lara's pool (unheated) was probably warmer this morning at 8 AM than your high temp for the day will be!

Jo, praying your dmil will heal quickly from her fall. I don't know what one would call my skin...sometimes I look down at my arm and a huge red spot will have appeared and I have no idea what I have bumped or touched to do it. The sleeve I wear protects the right arm so I don't see them there any more but the left arm frequently looks as though some one has been beating on me.

Good afternoon ladies!

Jo so sorry to hear that your mil fell.

My cousin Melissa came over with her two granddaughters. Casey came with her kid. I heated the water in the pool to 82. I didn't get in, but I think it was chilly. It was fine until a cloud blocked the sun. Kian didn't last long.

Other than having people over today. I didn't do much. OH, I did do a load of laundry.

Cathe; you did enough.. entertaining can be tiring. I finished the cushions for the front chairs.. they are wood slat chairs and our neighbors kitties don't like them.. last time I put cushions on them they took up sleeping on them; ruined them quickly... so this time I made two loops on the back long side of the cushion and can hang them off the top back of the chair... kitties can't get to them that way.

Then I took apart a seat of an old rocker I bought at a garage sale for $30. Dale is going to cut me a new base which I'll put foam on and make a cover for.

Oh, love my new pendant light over the kitchen sink. I made the guys breakfast (french toast/bacon/sausages) for lunch after they finished. It caused our son to reminisce about eating 'breakfast' on Friday nights when he grew up here... that is cute he talked about it..

I was just looking at my arms again, and honestly.....two days in the yard, with my tube socks on my arms, and they are still a mess, I look the same. Cardboard can peel the skin right off my arm...as in boxes at school....I have no idea I get these big purple bruises, but they are there. sigh.....I guess that's just the price we pay for living this long!

Well we had rain......lots of rain, lots of thunder etc.....the electric went off for a few minutes, which of course means I am now resetting everything in my house. That's two days in a row with good rain shower......twice today....LOL

So tomorrow I will try to get the back finished, or close to it. Then I can go back to school without thinking about all there is to do in my yard.

Well as far as I am concerned it will be as good as any of the rest of these type shows. I actually like the Duck Call guys, they are hilarious.......really hilarious and no gross stuff as far as I can tell. As for Honey Boo boo, I can't believe that people actually watch that, they are pretty disgusting in my opinion. I know there are people like that, but having a show about them on TV only serves to say that is acceptable living......and we wonder what's wrong in our society. Truthfully it's no worse that the blonde wives of Orange County and their upside down idea of a "normal" live. The spending habits truly make me sick to my stomach. I love nice things myself, but no one needs 100 pair of $400 shoes, purses and hair do's. Seriously, that kind of spending really does make me kind of ill. I think of all the children who are hungry this summer, and it just makes me angry. Granted, I guess it's not their job to feed hungry kids, but the over indulgence with birthday parties for two year olds that cost upwards of $10K is just too much!!!!!

I will be curious to see if this Maine Cow Corner show goes on......I hope they get paid well for doing this, because their lives will never be the same.....! I'm sure it will be fun for a while though!!!!!

I finished the Guernsey Literary Society and Potato Peel Pie Club. What a great book. I guess no one else is interested.....It was one of the best books I have read in years.

Ann I am like you and chuckle with Cathe and her weather or not to heat the pool......just sounds funny to me. We need a way to cool the pool water here.....LOL I would never have a pool up north.......there really is a lot of maintenance for as little as it gets used. A friend of my Mother's had a beautiful pool in Michigan.....she loved it when my kids came for the summer....she said it was the only time it got used.

My son has a pool in Maryland, but his filter and heater and all run all the time. It's an inground, pool with a waterfall into a soaking pool which then falls into the big pool. It is beautiful with slate, rock etc.......I can't even imagine what it costs to maintain that thing. They do have a cover that the pool company puts on in November until March....to keep the leaves out of the pool.

I would love to have a pool here in Florida...everyone I know that has one, uses it almost daily. When Jeff and Kim lived in their other house, Jeff and the girls swam in the pool almost daily!

Good evening!!

OK, here is how the thread works. ONE PERSON decides to start the thread and only that person can change the very first post. There are no passwords, etc. I don't even know why someone told you such a thing. If you have EVER started a thread before, it is the EXACT same thing. ANYBODY can start a thread. You have all been mislead previously!!

Josie - Sorry to hear that you MIL fell. I hope you did not find any other bruises on scrapes on her.

Di - I hope you got all the sewing you wanted to do finished.

Tish - Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy the trip.

Betsey - Do you have a really big yard? It seems you sure have a lot to do to it.

Well, I am exhausted and going to relax for a bit. I will be back in the morning and will start the new thread. Be on the lookout for the link in here and you will each get a PM.

Thanks Cheryl... in advance.

Whew; just finished mowing, trimming, raking and washing patio. It's humid here and about 78 deg... I now need a shower and another 1/2 gal. of water to drink.

We have a bigger yard than I want now. But it's a great yard for kids.

I put pics in our FB folder of the simple cushions I made. Not done with sewing yet. Probably looking at Tuesday to be done with everything.

see ya all tomorrow.

Cheryl....this is all very interesting. Let me ask another question. If all this is true......and there are no passwords or such, why then are you the only one that can post things on the first page???? I and I know Tish, always thought that one had to have some kind of password or something once a thread was started as the hostess was the only one who could post anything on that first page. So this is also not true????? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!! Imagine that! When Tish gets back I am sure she will confirm what I have said......I have to tell you that I offered once to do that, for our previous hostess, so she could go someplace, on some trip as I recall, and she said it was too complicated to explain and I believe she also told Tish the same thing. It was something about passwords etc. So none of this is true, and why am I not surprised.......I just know that I always got the impression that it was complicated and a big deal. Interesting!!!!! isn't it??????

Good morning to everyone, I guess we have not moved yet......but I am no longer worried about the entire process........good grief!!!!! Can't believe all this time I have thought that it was! Shame on Me!!!!!!

It's a beautiful morning......blue sky, everything is damp from all the rain yesterday....a perfect morning to go out and weed. And trim the rest of my shrubs.

As for my yard. It is just a normal back yard about 75ft x 50 ft but it has beds all the way around the perimeter, and another around the patio and one long bed in the middle of the yard. This is where my only tree is. The yard is fenced with two gates that to to the alley. So I guess it's not big but a lot of work. Since Jeff started used that mulching blade, it blows grass into the beds and those are the kind of weeds I have.....that kind of grass that roots go to China, they are white, and longggggg! I use roundup in places where I can.....like along the fence in the alley, but it only works for a little while and then it's all back again. It would require almost daily maintenance which is what I used to do.....every morning out with coffee and pulled grass/weeds out of some area of the yard. I truly now understand why old people have no beds and the grass just grows up to the house. When I first moved down here, I could not understand why people did nothing to their yards and just had grass not a shrub or anything. Now I understand I think!

My front is much easier.....only shrubs across the front of the house and a small bed around the pad by the front door and driveway. Florida yards require a ton of maintenance. My neighbor has his down to a fine job, but he is out almost everyday doing something.

Coffee is ready......I have slept late again, boy I am going to have real trouble getting used to the work schedule!!!! Whew!!!!

Good morning! It is gorgeous outside. going to be a high of 77.

Betsey when I visited my mom's cousin in Florida I thought the "grass" as so weird...too spikey to walk on with bare feet.

I read the links to the books you liked. 84 Charing Cross Road appealed to me more than Guernsey... I'll see which one the library has.

I am meeting Carole for a bit this morning. We both have something to take back to the mall.
I plan on going to the library.
I'm going to have Rayn and Kian spend the night.

Have a great day everyone.

Betsey - I am up and getting ready to start the new thread.

The person who starts the thread and makes the VERY FIRST POST on the thread (where we put the challenges) only that person can EDIT their own post. Every time there is something new to put on that very first post, I simply go to EDIT and change what needs changing. There is no password or anything. It is just EASIER to find and everyone to see the challenges if it is all done on the VERY FIRST POST. As simple as that!!
