For me, scrapbooking is like exercising – I have to have lots of motivation and others to motivate me. This year – 2013 – I want to do a Project Life album / project. But, without motivation, I’m done before I even start! So, who wants to participate in a no-stress, no-cost, no-hassle challenge?

It will work something like this:
-
1. Each week you create a LO of your life—either using the Project Life album or a variation of your own design.

2. The first week will start on January 1st (Tuesday) and end on January 7th (Monday). Subsequent weeks will begin on Tuesday and end on Monday. You can create your LO any time during that week, as long as your picture is submitted by Monday for that week.

3. Every Monday, each participant will submit a picture of their LO of their week.
Please use the following instructions for public embedding and linking photos:

ALLOWING PUBLIC EMBEDDING:
1. Go to the layout in your gallery.
2. Click on 'Edit Image' tab under the layout.
3. Scroll down to the bottom left side.
4. Check the box that says, ‘Allow Public Embedding’.

LINKING LAYOUTS TO THE THREAD:
1. Go to the layout in your gallery.
2. Click on 'Link/Embed Image' link in the 'Share & Link' box to the left of the layout.
3. Click on 'IMG code' button.
4. Copy and paste the code which starts [url...] into the forum thread.

4. On Monday, I will post a picture of a prize that will be sent to the person who is randomly drawn from all the submissions – one submission per week.

5. Names from the previous week will remain in the prize draw. Winners names will be removed as they are drawn.

6. I may decide to do a “pop draw” like a pop quiz for the people whose names remain in the draw.

7. All you have to do is to create one LO per week and submit a picture of your weekly LO every Monday.

8. Prizes may or may not be scrapbook related. On Monday I will post the prize for the week.

9. PM me to play with your screen name, real name, mailing address, and phone number

My goal with this challenge is to complete a one year – 52 weeks – album of my life. And to share this challenge with others who may want to partake in this endeavor also!

This sounds fun, means I will have to take a picture everyweek but I am sure I can do it. Never heard of Project Life albums but I can make my own LOs Sign me up.

Great. Just try to remember to PM your info...so that when you win a prize I can mail it to you! If you google "Project Life" you'll get some good examples. You can buy a kit but I am going to try to hodge podge mine together. I recently purchased a [email protected] Simple Stories kit that I am going to use.

How you put your weekly LO together is up to you! This is more about getting it done. Week by week.

I am in-- I want to do an album of my first year of retirement-- I joined a calendar swap back in the fall with the intent to use those pages for some of my lo's, so please don't put me in the drawing, as I don't think it is fair to the ladies on this thread for me to use lo's made by others and that have been made in advance-- I do want to participate, though to keep me inspired and motivated to complete it!

Let me know then if you use something newly created. Then you can be in the draw on those weeks! No biggie. Glad we'll be able to help with motivation.

Add me. I had already planned to do a 2013 project, so this one will help me stay motivated. Last time, I stuck with it until August - then school started and I couldn't find time.

Shouldn't be a problem this year.

I'm super excited that we can all "get together" to motivate eachother. Just to be clear: the purpose of this challenge is to motivate & have fun. It's up to each of us how we interpret the Project Life theme (Google it for great ideas!). As long as one picture of your weekly LO is posted by Sunday, you're eligible for the drawing. And if you don't make it one week, you can catch up the next week.

No stress. No hassles.

I don't really do "Project Life" per se. I use Katrina Kennedy's daily project 365 for photo inspiration instead. I hope that's ok.

Here's here January list.

Since it's about motivation and inspiration, right? Just doing my bit.

I really WANT to be committed to this endeavor this year. Last year I made it through week 2 (pathetic, I know!). But this year, I've been pre-planning a little bit getting some templates ready to raise my success rate a bit. So, with baited breath, count me in!

Absolutely! Whatever your interpretation is and however you want to express that. Almost everyone here starts strong and then tapers off into the abyss. So, this is to help us motivate eachother to finish what we start...together :-)

so is most everyone using the project life or [email protected] stuff? I just decided to take a look at it and wish I had known about it before I did the calendar swap!
If you are using it, are you using the page protectors, too?

Is there room for one more? If so, I'd like to play in 2013. I did this project in 2009 and then in 2011. I didn't complete 2011, got to July and just lost interest. In 2013 I want to try again but am seriously considering doing it digitally. I am not a digital scrapper but want to learn so hoping to combine them both.

Of course! There is always room for one more! I had to really pare down my supplies since I have moved to Puerto Rico and don't have the space I used to. So I have been digitally scrapping with Studi J (Close to My Heart) and then adding embellishments to the LO. It actually works well and it saves me time and space. It's a win! Win!

Welcome aboard!

I have looked at the Studio J stuff but I don't scrap digitally and have plenty of room for all my scrappy goodness so I may never convert- I LOVE CTMH products, I have a friend that sells it.
I am thinking of digitally creating a collage for the week in this project but haven't decided yet.

Can't wait to get started!! I should intro myself:

Hi ladies, my real name is Laura and I'm trying to participate in a few more forums this year as I'm currently not working and love all the arts. I am a mother of 2, grandmother of 1 and married 30 yr. I am by education an Engineer and spent my career in Quality Assurance / Control and I find myself looking for a new job at age 53 and not an easy thing to do.

I live in Indiana and we have about 12" of snow right now. My other endeavors include playing my flute in the local community band and volunteer as assitant historian (scrapping) for the band to document our journey. I am a Christian and strong believer. My primary artistic love is quilting, but paper crafting is very similar, only using paper as your base and much quicker satisfaction, lol. I like to paint, crochet, and I try to tat (not very good yet, but I keep at it). I do machine embroidery designs (not so much anymore), but since I can't do them by hand due to eye issues, I use digitization to achieve embroidery goals. I'm a typical engineer, jack of all trades, master at none. I love it all and there are not enough hours in the day.

Enough about me. If you would like to add me to your friend lists, please invite me so we can get to know each other more. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

I'll go next: I am a newly-turned-40 year old mom of 1 amazing almost-9 year daughter named Kylene. My husband is retired from the US Air Force, at which time it was my turn to head back to work after being a stay at home mom for about 6 years while he finished up in the air force. It took me a long time to find work - I'm a teacher - but finally accepted a job with the Dept of Defense in PUERTO RICO!! So in August, we moved to Fort Buchanan in PR. It's been a crazy change and our daughter has had a hard time adjusting to being away from family and friends (more than we expected) but she's a trooper and we try to keep her busy with trips and island adventures.

I am now a Reading Specialist / READ180 teacher at Antilles Middle School where I get to teach kids the love of books, and to read English better. It's fantastic. They teach me Spanish; I teach them reading - most already are bilingual. It's my dream job - I love books!! When we moved to England, I shipped 3000+ lbs of books there and back.

And England is where I began my scrapbooking obssession. We lived there from 2004-2007, and hooked up with a group of CTMH ladies. Hook - Line - and Sinker. And I found scrapbook.com - it shipped APO for reasonable prices. And I found the AGC...way back in 2006...and discovered some really great ladies.

As your "hostess" I'm going to participate but not the drawing. I want to share my 52 weeks project with you but honestly, the prizes are coming from my stash that really needs to be pared down even more due to space issues.

So, welcome aboard and get ready to have some fun. Although the journey is important, for us the end is equally so!!

I am 51 and just retired from a 30 year career in education.
DH is semi-retired (works 2-3 days a week). We are planning on traveling quite a bit.
We are season ticket holders to Texas A and M football and followed the team to all the games this year. We plan on continuing that, it was a BLAST!
We have a son that is 26 and lives in Bryan, Texas- he is an Aggie, also.
We love being empty nesters and are looking forward to my retirement.
We are going to Cozumel on January 7 for 9 days to do some diving. We try to go there a couple of times a year and I am going with 3 friends on a 7 day scrapbooking cruise in February.

I am really looking forward to this project to chronicle my first year of retirement. My last official day on my contract is tomorrow!

Good Morning!!
I know many of you already from over the years, and in other challenges! Love to see all of you and continued friendship! Welcome and hello to those I do not know (yet), looking forward to new friendships and so on.

I am 41, presently disabled. Sadly I refractured and old fracture in my ankle and have been through murder with the healing process. I have had 7 surgeries in the last 16 months. One more surgery to go. My ankle is fused together now. Presently I have pins and metal in my leg/ankle (and for the 3rd time), this is why I have been MIA from scrapbooking world.
I miss it so much and cannot wait to get back to it and so on. It's getting close though!!!

On a good note............. I am married to the love of my life Matt for two years now this February 4th, but we've been together for 15 years. I have three sons from previous marriage, and he has one son from previous marriage. I have two granddaughters that are my whole world!! They will most likely be the focus of my scrapping! LOL. My husband is a corrections officer. He too is my world, along with our sons, but honestly the girls take the cake! LOL.

This January I will be returning to college full time taking online courses to change my career. Before my injury I was waitressing. Don't think I will be going back to that! So my new major is accounting, I should finish that in a year. I am also going to go for Paralegal, and maybe Office Administration. I may stop at Paralegal though.

Karen, a [email protected] album is a 2ring version of a SMASHjournal. It's a cool way to do some quick pages

I would really like to join the group, too. I want to do a book of me and am thinking of taking Linda Sattgast's class - Your Story. Brilliant

It is a year long class where you concentrate on one area of your life each month. I think it would fit well here and help keep me motivated.

I am strictly digital and since this is an organized digital class, I will excuse myself from the prizes.

I look forward to getting to know each of you better.

I am 63, retired from US Postal Service and work part time for my brother's paper company in accounts receivable. I have two grown daughters and two grandchildren that take up the majority of my pages. My daughters are always after me to do a book about me, so I have decided to do one and give it for Christmas next year if I can continue on schedule.

This sounds interesting, and would definitely help get me scrapping more. One question though - do you still take a photo a day and then combine them onto one layout, or how exactly does this work?

I would really like to give this a go this year, only... with my new baby I'm afraid I'll get too far behind and won't be able to catch up... I did get the Photo Freedom kits from EP as well as the We R Memory Keepers pages of the same idea. would it be bad if I sometimes have to submit multiple weeks at a time? Just curious... I really do want in tho so I'll PM u!

I'm Jessica. I teach freshman Language Arts by day (13 years now), and scrap by the light of the moon after my own kids have gone to bed. I've been scrapping for 11 years. Two and a half years ago I went digital with the intent to catch up and then go back to traditional. I've loved the freedom traditional has offered me. Not only did I catch up, but I started making vacation album, specialized albums for my kids, gift albums for my grandparents, parents, siblings, and my kids' teachers. I'm a digital content junkie. I guess that trait doesn't change as many of us are/were paper hoarders... now it's all stored on an external hard drive for me... almost 5000 different "papers" and counting (in 2 and 1/2 years!). I'm also attempting to s-l-o-w-d-o-w-n my digital content purchases. I mean, honestly, who needs 5000 different papers? (Maybe I'm asking the wrong crowd this question!) Looking forward to seeing everyone's work! Happy 2013, everyone!

Jen, you can create this however you want. I think some of my weeks will be on one page, some weeks I might need 2 pages, and there might be special days when I just want to put one picture/1 day on the lo. There are no rules. It's all about living and documenting real life.

Jessica, I have only done digital layouts and totally love the convenience and variety of products - I've even made a few elements and papers myself. I cannot count the papers I have - how do you organize? I know I have something that I really want to use, but it takes me forever to find, so I just give up and use something else. Any suggestions?

For some, how it works could be the hardest part because it's up to you, however you want to document your 52 weeks of 2013. I got my ideas from googling: Project Life.

The only thing this challenge requires is if you want to participate in the weekly drawing for a prize, you need to make sure a weekly picture is put on the thread by Sunday. Does this make sense?

So, week 1 will run from Jan 1 to Jan 6. On Sunday, Jan 6th you will need to post a pic of your week 1 LO. Then week 2 will start on Monday, Jan 7 and end on Sunday, January 13th, and so on.

Once the challenge gets going, you will also get to see everyone else's projects, which might help you get some ideas too.

Some kits are available from different companies - Becky Higgins (Project Life) and Simple Stories are a couple; also Jessica Sprague (digital). I'm sure there are more, read through the thread and you'll find lots of "help" and ideas.

Welcome aboard and remember: no stress. Have fun!!

Ok ladies, the last day of 2012 is winding down which means our 2013 challenge will be starting soon...tomorrow.

If you could check the first page to make sure your name is there, that would be greatly appreciated!

And make sure you've emailed me your real name and address - for mailing purposes.

WEEK ONE: Tuesday, January 1 to Sunday, January 6th. To be eligible for the prize drawing for week one, make sure your week 1 pic of your "LO" is posted on this thread by midnight on Sunday. Any way you have to post the picture is ok for this challenge...remember: it's about movtivation!!

Have a safe and happy new year's.

Pam, I use Creative Memories' Storybook software. This program sorts content in alpha order, but it also allows for personalized folders. So I have a folder for all of my Winter/Christmas content; a folder for all my birthday content; a folder for summer/beach... Another feature they have is tags, so I can tag individual elements or papers with whatever tag I want. I can search for every paper or embellishment with "flowers" on it; I can search for "ribbon" and all the ribbons from every package will come up. I have a tag for "patterns" with my favorite patterned papers. The tagging takes a little time to do, but SO WORTH IT! Helps me use materials from several different packages. The program keeps count of everything for me. I tells me the exact number of papers I have and the exact number of embellishments I have. It also breaks it down by folder as well, so I could look up how many papers I have in my Christmas/Winter folder or how many papers I have in just one particular content package.

Just wondering where you are in Iowa? I live just east of Des Moines. What program do you use?

Thanks for the clarification, and I think this sounds like a lot of fun! I have ideas for my first couple of layouts already (one is actually an idea I've had for a while now that I've wanted to do)! I'll PM you my information.

Since some of the other ladies have introduced themselves, I'll tell you about me. I'm Jen, and I live on an acreage just outside of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm a Project Accountant for a very large, multi-national engineering company, and I look after the invoicing for our Saskatchewan business unit. I'm single, and my only baby is the one in my avatar, my Shih Tzu Molly. Besides scrapbooking, I also enjoy making things with plastic canvas (some of my creations may show up in future layouts), playing the organ and teachning the Grade 4-6 Sunday School class at my church.

Don't wait to the last minute...try jotting down daily musings in a date book or on notecards.

Use your phone to capture moments as they present themselves...don't forget to download them in time to get on your weekly LO.

Jessica, I live in Council Bluffs and have family in Des Moines, so travel Interstate 80 quite frequently. Our son lives in Grimes.

I do have my kits organized by topics in folders, but tried tagging through an organization program and gave up. Maybe I'll try again later. I have the memories program but seldom use it. I bought it for me and my daughters so we would be on the same program, but they are too busy and besides Mom scraps for the whole family I use Photoshop Elements. My dream is to design my own kits someday.

Can't wait to see what we are going to do here.

I cannot get email updates from this thread. Anyone else having this problem? I did on one other tread a couple of months back and someone complained and it starting working. Any ideas?

Happy New Year to all!

Pam, I bet we cross paths on I-80 often as I have a lot of family in Omaha and venture that direction about every 5-6 weeks. In fact, I'm trying to plan to attend a scrapbooking weekend in Omaha in March.

Hey girls.

I've got another tidbit to share.

www.ohlife.com

this site sends me an email every day asking me "how'd your day go?" It helps me get the day journaled so I don't forget. I can sit down and do it before I go to bed, and it saves it privately in my own folder.

because it comes to me with a question, it sort of demands an answer and I have been able to keep my journal recording up to date without forgetting or putting it off until later.

It's VERY helpful.

Happy New Year everyone! I didn't do an intro yet so here it is!

My name is Ashley and I'm 29. I'm a Buckeye transplant to Dallas, TX. I work for a franchise of a national moving company as a Customer Service Manager. I'm married to my best friend for just over 5 years now. We don't have any kiddies yet (maybe this year's the year?) but we have three furbabies. Two dogs, Bailey and Rylie, and a spoiled cat Lilly. And that's me in a nit shell!

Just signed up for ohlife.com! Thanks for the great tip.

A little about myself: I am a transplanted Canadian living in the US. Married for almost 11 years, two kids (a boy 7 and a girl 5)and I am trying PL for the first time this year. I love to travel - spent my birthday in Paris last year and went to London with Sassy Suzi aka Suzette back in September. Love that I found sb.com since I find so much inspiration and great friends here.
