Back by popular request from the players. The 2013 Design Seeds Color Challenge.

Basically, it's an open ended color challenge where the rule is simply that you have to include EVERY color in the palette in some way on your project.

It's easy play - no pressure, no voting, no front page updating. It's a low impact forum! Just post by the end of the month and we'll see what happens.

Use the photo itself as an inspiration to a twist.

Here's our January inspiration. Looks like fun, maybe?

Happy New Year!

I THINK I might be started ... planning to see if I can actually stay up long enough to scrap today. I want to get my Project 2013 started.

I have a photo, a sketch, and I THINK a plan... It's just a matter of my body being willing to cooperate and not flake on me.

Isn't it a bummer how that body doesn't always cooperate?
I finally have all the old photos sorted and I'm ready to dig in. Because my primary goal for this year is to reduce the pile of pics in the boxes, I'll look through them to see if there are any that fit this challenge. If not, I know which pics I want to print off for this. Maybe by the end of today I'll have a LO! Maybe.....

Thanks. It's good to be on the mend, even if the mending is raggedy.

My scrappy room is clean. I just moved the mess to the guest bed and I have lots of room to play. Of course, that means that I have to hope there are no guests in the next few days.

Pat, I want to say a big thank you! It only just occured to me that the Design Seeds probably come from a place on the web. Wow!! I'm so, so going to use that place!
And I'm glad you're feeling better.

LOL. Did you get them to email it to you? I get something like 3 mails a day from those guys.

Mine is DONE. I'll post it Monday after the Nuts About Sketches reveal. I'm very happy with how it worked itself off my fingers.

Oh, ok. A sneak peek. But just a SMALL one.

No! My inbox is way too full as it is! Important stuff gets moved down, and takes me a few days to get to it. Better if I just click over there when I'm in the mood to, or need to.

Yeah, I usually do that right before leaving the house, then realize my car keys are in my purse and if I don't smudge the nails getting the keys, I smudge them opening the car door.

Here is my lo for this challenge:

a Spring Time Stroll By Justowen

I used the 5 colors of the inspiration (well, as close as I had in my stash...they are closer IRL than the look in this pic) and I did the twist by using the photo as inspiration...I used it as kind of a sketch for my lo design.

I really did! I never would have used those colors together on a lo, but I just love how it turned out. I also loved using the pic as the inspiration, because it made a really unusual lo (for me) and that pic is one of my faves of dd.

here is my entry for this month's beautiful colours. I am not sure whether mine will qualify under the twist (and if it does not then I'm okay with that) but here is my explanation: this lo explains how free both me and my son were after his release from his toaster (aka incubator). He was free to roam around his room just like a bird is free to roam the world.

Here is mine:

My Life Book -Timeline 1 By PamStewart.Iowa

I used the picture as inspiration because I loved the use of that apple green as a bright spot in the mellow, deeper tones so I used it as by matting and accent color with the flowers.

Becky - you know how I feel about that. Challenge by choice. Sometimes life just makes the choice FOR you.

Hope you can manage one, but if not, there's always NEXT month, and the color palette isn't going away. You can always save it for another time.

Oh Tracy - that just BITES so bad! Hope you can find the color palette you need so you can get your project created!

I have faith in you girl.

Becky, the best thing to do is make a checklist of the page topics you want to do, and then use the sketch and color challenges to get those pages done. That's the easiest way. And just DO them - don't think about "fuss and frill and all that stuff." DONE is better than perfect. ;-)

Well...here I am! I was getting the pages pulled together and then made a phone call to find out a little more about my dh great grandmother...in talking found out that her favorite flower is pansy and her favorite color was purple. So of course my mind said her pages need to be purple! Will have to find different pics for these pages now. Does anyone else do that? Hopefully I can upload in a few days!

Oh - I'm so happy to see so many projects in this little forum.

Do you like the laid back style or would you rather me have a front post update? We can do either for February. It's your forum, so you should say.

I agree, the way you have it is fine with me. I rarely check the front page of any challenge. I keep up on love by going page by page so I don't miss any. I love that this challenge made me think differently and use a different palette. Great job!

Not an easy set of colors, I found! Luckily I had some Pink Paislee paper that amazingly had all the colors except the very dark blue (OK, OK - the green is a bit muted in the paper versus the Design Seed color....). I brought in the deep blue by adding navy blue brads to the center of the flowers and small strips of navy blue paper to the tag beneath the title.

Ok, so based on what I'm hearing, we'll just keep the same format style for February.

I may be a little invisible for the rest of the week. I'm participating in the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge, which is kicking my hindparts to hither and yonder, but at the same time providing me with inspiration GALORE.

I'm scrapping a photo of my sister and me from Italy for my SUDC project this week, and it will probably be taking me most of my free minutes. I substituted at the Elementary school yesterday, then will again this Friday, I have a class on Thursday, and my project is due on Saturday.

If you don't see me between now and then, don't worry. In the immortal words of Arnold, "I'll be back."

Kelly, my motto is, "Done is better than perfect."

My second motto is, "It's only paper. What's the worst that can happen?"

Those two thinking process have carried me a long way since I started scrapping. Honest. It's about HAVE FUN! Don't over think it. Trust your instinct.

Pat you and I think alike. I think my favorite one is when I want to try something new and not sure if I'll like it....I then say It's only paper....and go for it. What's the worse that can happen....I won't like what I did...no biggie cover it up or choose new paper! LOL!

Great job, Lisa! How cool that you found an "almost everything" paper. Your project turned out great. She really is angelic!

Tracy - I think your title work is perfect! It echos all those desert colors just beautifully!

Good morning, ladies! I pulled out some old pics and got 3 done last night. I hope everyone gets some scrappy time this weekend! We're iced in for now, but it's supposed to get a little warmer, so hopefully it will be short lived.

You girls ready for the next one? I can post today since it's officially the first week of February, or I can wait until February 1.

What is your choice?
