Let me first say I'm dumber than a fence post when it comes to computer stuff. I WISH I had the intelligence of a box of rocks when it comes to these things!
That said, lately, on some sites (but not all), when I click "back" I get a little bubble that says "go back one page or right click or pull down to show history." So I actually have to click "back" twice (depending on the site) to go back even though I've never had that issue before and it seems to me that if I've already clicked "back" it's 'cause I actually want to go back and not have to sometimes click twice. And worse, sometimes when I do click twice, I end up several pages away from where either I was or intended to go.
No idea if this helps or makes it worse for you, and again, I'm a complete idiot, but you might look and see if you're getting those directions. Which are stupider than I am and much more aggravating.
This is one site (and an awesome site it is!) that I don't have the back trouble with.
If I had to guess, and since I don't know, I'm sort of stuck with guessing-I'm thinking it's some kind of "new and improved" thing where somebody thought having more options was "better" somehow. That when you hit back what you really meant was, "please give me more options since I didn't really mean back." You know, like "new and improved" ice cream which only means that the carton is smaller.
thanks so much for all your replies, i sure appreciate the help. I googled it, have gone to the help button on my computer. Unplugged it from the wall. I think I'll pray for guidance.
And, i may have to put up with eyerolls and "every day its something" ,and ask the dh. I was wondering if other people are having the same probs,if it was a sb.com thing. From what you all are saying, it sounds like its not a sb.com thing.
Usually for me it has to do with how many ads are on the page and how often they refresh - sometimes if you click the down arrow next to your back button (or hold the back button down if you're on Firefox), you'll see that all of the ads have created a "page" that you have to click back through. Usually easier at that point to just scroll down the list and find the REAL page you want to go back to.
ok i put the mouse on the back arrow, hold, and some options drop down. One of them is says "back to scraphouses place at sb.com." I click on that option and im to where i want to be. This problem started yesterday .
I use Google Chrome instead of internet explorer. I never have issues with it. Ever.
My friend calls me all the time with issues on hers and every time I ask her if she clicked the blue E or the google chrome button. She always forgets to use Chrome but it always seems to fix any issues she has.
Jarvae, I've never heard of Google Chrome. I guess I can just "google it" to read up on it? Do you just download it? Is it free?
I'm always on here on iPad. Our IT guys at work laugh and say iPads are dummy proof. You can't mess it up, but you can't really do anything either. I told them that's fine by me. I just use it to surf. And it's the smallest surfboard I've ever seen. LOL
Shurl, Yes you can just download it for free. It's just another browser like IE or Firefox (or Safari) but I'm not sure if it works on iPads. I'm not iFriendly so I don't know how all that stuff works. But on my PC, it's awesome!
For the last two days the back button will not work on the gallery. It works everywhere else on this site. When you go to the gallery and click on a layout you want to see and go to that person's layout, take a look, then try to use the back button nothing happens - when placing your mouse over the back button it will say something like this:
of course, each layout has a different set of numbers - not sure what in the world is going on. I am using Explorer and have been for years without any problems.
My "symptoms" are just like Jane's. The only place it happens is in the gallery. The back button doesn't do anything, but when I click on the drop-down menu, the first item to go back to is the Pinterest stuff that Jane mentioned, then the site past that is actually the last page I was looking at. The only change I'm showing on my computer was a Microsoft Update on Feb. 14, but I think the "back problem" has been happening for at least a week, if not two. Java 7 updated on Feb. 6 and my Adobe Flash Player also updated that day. I'm getting used to just using the drop-down menu and going back two, but I was more concerned about some type of virus or something, since it seemed to want me to go to Pinterest. However, my AV program isn't showing any problems, so I kind of forgot about it until this post showed up.~Judy
Judy, now that I think about it I had Microsoft downloads put on this past Tuesday and either that same day or the next Adobe downloaded. Then it was Thursday or Friday that the back button problem showed up for the first time and I am on this site lots.... (lol).
For awhile I thought I was crazy also and was afraid to post but at least we aren't the only ones with this problem

I can also go "back" when I'm in the forums but not in the gallery.
However, I cannot go "back" on another scrapbook site (which shall be nameless) either....
It does not seem to be only on this site but it also is not in every situation....sometimes the back button works, sometimes it doesn't....
I have not done anything different in the last while that would make this happen or change any settings. Not sure what is going on...
FYI. This is a bug in the IE (Internet Explorer) browser and it only affects pages with the Pinterest "Pin It" button.
We have reported the bug to Pinterest and we are trying to figure out a workaround in the meantime.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Thanks...I've gotten used to using the drop-down menu to go back, but was more concerned about viruses, etc. (not necessarily from sb, but from pinterest...or anywhere), but as long as it's an annoyance bug...it's not all that annoying Thanks for whatever you can do...we all appreciate how buggy-free this site is!~Judy
This has now been reported to Microsoft and to Pinterest as a bug. You can tweet Pinterest here and let them know that it's broken too: https://twitter.com/Pinterest
Or open up a support ticket at Pinterest.com and report it.
We've already done this ourselves but it wouldn't hurt to have more reports for both companies to see.
Thanks for your patience as they resolve it. In the meantime, you can always just use Chrome or Firefox browsers instead of Internet Explorer. We recommend chrome and use it in our offices. It's faster, safer and more stable than IE. You can download it free here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browse r/

Henri Google Chrome is a browser just like Internet Explorer (only some say, better!)
It is made by Google
You can do a search for it and download it. It is free and safe.
Once downloaded and installed, you should have a shortcut on your desktop that you can click on to browse the Internet.
It will automatically pull in your bookmarks etc...
Mozilla Firefox is another browser that is free and safe.
IE comes as the default browser on most PCs as it is made by Microsoft but it is not the only one out there........
I tend to use IE out of habit but DH uses Chrome and swears by it.....
I'm glad to hear it wasn't just me. I am in Australia and the back button just stopped working, but only on this site & one other U.S site. It worked on everything else. It has been like that for about a week, then suddenly today it is working again ?????????????????
