I forgot all about my poor neglected Crop-O-Dile and dragged it out for a layout recently. When I posted it in the gallery several people said they had forgotten about their eyelets - they needed to get them out and use them.

I forget all about my embossing folders and nesties. It never occurs to me to go through those to see if I can use them on the layout I'm working on.

Brads - I love to use them and never think about them.

I have a lot of embellies - tons of diecuts and they are filed in a way I think is logical.

However I don't check in all the categories when I'm doing a layout so I forget them. I'm working on layouts of my granddaughter now and couldn't find what I wanted under flowers or flourishes.

Then on a fluke I kept looking until I came to animals and found the cutest peach butterflies that match her dress exactly!

I also forget to check out punches and so many layouts would look so much better if I used them more. I have a nice selection - forget about them.

One thing I really forget about is my corner rounder. I love the corners of pictures rounded but how often do I remember to get out my corner rounder? About once a year.

LOL all of the above. I have a lot of stuff in boxes and I can't see it so I don't think to use it. Then one day I'll remember it and use it a bunch until it goes away again. Hehe!

I use my Crop-a-dile a lot for punching holes, but I forget to use the eyelets. I'm not a huge eyelet fan to be honest, except for reinforcing a hole. I forget to use them for decoration.

Foam stamps. I'd donate them all if I knew who to give them to.

I've been realising lately that I'm not using my brads either. What's up with that? Time was when every flower had a brad in the centre, or it wasn't complete. Now I'm using gems and pearls more.

I have a hot glue gun which hasn't been out of the packet yet. I'm not sure quite how to use it on paper stuff. And whether the mess (it looks as if it's going to be messy, I have no idea whether it really is) is worthwhile for attaching a ruffled ribbon. Which I also haven't tried yet.

I'm a bit useless, aren't I?

Good question. It seems I am forgetting tools one by one. Recently I rediscovered my stamps and use them on every page. Then I see my Crop-a-dile and all pages get eyelets. Then I seem to remember I have distress ink I could use or my sprays and my masks. For some reason I never end up with a page where I used more than one tool. Which reminds me: I should use some ribbon any time soon!

I keep a checklist of essentials & a secondary list of items that I almost never use. It helps me keep creative, as well as a good reminder to try something old, but 'new' (otherwise known as, about 1/4 of the tools in my room!)

- Fiskar templates

- crimper

- 'wavy' rulers

- scalloped scissors (all 40 of them)

- punches

- diecut machines

- stickers

- acrylic stamps

- embossing

- glitter

- journaling pens

- Copics

- masks

- paints & mists

- tags, journaling blocks, vellum quotes

- embroidery supplies

- ribbons, fibers, yarn

- an entire 'flower garden' that needs taming & tending!

The thing I have and never have used is my sewing machine. I keep thinking when I see Rachie Babe or someone's work, oh yeah, I should use my machine! I have a sew easy and I use it sometimes, but a machine has a different look (IMO).

I don't have a check list (how organized is THAT?) but everytime I start a LO, I start with the photos and then the paper, and then I start searching for every element that I might use and get it out......

I haven't embossed in a while......hmmmmm.

Um, I think I seriously need to clean out my room or at least organize.

The more I think about it, my list above seems to keep on getting longer & longer.

Sorry to say, quite a few things. But if I had to pick one it too would be my Crop-a-Dile. I even put it on the shelf close by and still forget it. Just re-did my sticker storage and that has seem to help with not using the stickers i already had. I can see them now. Guess I just need to put the crop-a-dile somewhere on my desk.

Quite a few things have been pushed off and forgotten. My new years resolution was to use my Cuttlebug more. It will sit for months without use. Of course I had to buy a few more dies to get me in the mood.

I was so excited to finally get the Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors last year...I think I used them once, then totally forgot about them until this week when I saw a cool layout that required a lot of little squares with all the sides cut into fringes and I had the thought that it would be really great if I had a pair of those Martha Stewart fringe scissors....and then remembered that I DO have a pair of those!!

I also keep forgetting about my Coluzzles, except when I need small circles.....I have lots of other cool templates, but never think of using the Coluzzles for those shapes..sometimes totally changing my idea, "because I don't have an easy way to cut that shape".

We could put strips of paper with an item in a bowl and pull one or two out and use that on our next page.

I have a collection of Sizzix stuff that I'm really happy with, but which I almost never use. A bunch of alphabets, some decorative strips, some good Sizzlits... and four Sizzix storage boxes full of Originals and Bigz (with another smaller box of small and medium Originals). I think the problem is that those boxes are closed, so I can't see what's in them (and the boxes are a little too high up for me to easily peer through). I also don't use my QuicKutz as much as I ought to. Same problem, they're stacked in a drawer.

My cure for this is my inventory book with samples in it of all my dies and stamps and punches. Also, I might use my alphabet dies more if I used titles more often.

I think I've read about someone doing this. That way, you're always using different techniques on your layouts.

A few years ago I took a class on Big Picture Classes called Baker's dozen.

the first part we collected items. Into our egg carton numbered sections added embellishments (example 4 brads, 2 feet of ribbon) and in numbered envelopes, photos (action, women, etc).

Then the prompts came. She had a page and you were to make a similar page using egg cup # 4 and photos #12 for instance.

I did not always follow as I did not want to end up with something ick just for the sake of taking a class but used the inspiration. One was to take a receipt out of your purse and to journal about "things today" - what you buy, cost, etc. Well the only receipt I had was for makeup and I have tons already.

So I scanned the receipt (thermal so it will disappear) and took a photo of my makeup vanity. I was happy with my page. There and then, I was buying more makeup and adding to my collection.

I have so much I don't use but I've found since I put all my embellishments on my clip it up I'm using them more....they are there staring at me so I spin it around and look to see what's available.

Yay! Another makeup fan

I scrap so slowly that over the days (and weeks) as I work on pages, I guess I go through my stash in my head a lot, and I search through my stash a lot looking for the right paper or embellie or just inspiration. So I don't think I actually forget anything, but there are definitely things I have that I don't use very often (like Stickles).

crop-a-dile,eyelets -- corregator --- stamps ---punches ---colluzle --- flowers --- embossing ---buttons --- I need to use all these

Good news - I have been using some of my old templates recently. You know, the kind you draw the image then cut out. Most people sold these at yard sales!!!!

I have a little black attache case I forgot all about. Completely about.

In it is the wonderful little machine that takes the border punches. I forgot who makes the system but someone will tell me. Making memories? Not stampin Up I know. One you buy from a representative.

I don't know how to use them and I want to but I forget about them. Maybe tomorrow I will check them out and see what I have.

Creative Memories - is that the company maybe? The products are awesome! I just forgot I had them.

Next on the list - I saw someone at a crop use a guide to put letters on a wavy line and in a circle and it was by the same company only discontinued. I had to have one and ordered from ebay - every one of the letter templates they made for big wavy lines or text, circles, little wavy lines. I put them away and just now remembered I have them. Still in the wrappers.

Not that I regret buying any of these items because I don't. I just forget to use them!

I make a inventory binder that has my dies & punches in it. I also have pens, stickles, etc in it. I also have taken stamps & scanned them & printed them out for the same binder. I put all the same category stamps on the scanner bed & scan & print. In this binder I also have a list of all the ways to make titles or letters like stamp, die cut, sticker, etc.
I am not caught up though. I did see a list somewhere years ago about a huge list of things to do on a page but I am not sure if I can find it. I will check. I was using the clear plastic drawers for my papers, chipboard, stickers, stuff to go with it. I had the drawers categorized. I had many of them out in my room so I could easily see what was in each drawer. I would write on the label. Same with my wooden & clear stamps..same drawers, same categories, I also listed what was in eacjh drawer..like eyelets, brads, glitter, stickles, buttons, flowers, inks, etc. That made it easier for me to see what I had.

Hey Henri, I really think that list was from another site years ago. If I could find it, I cold not link it.
How about I start a new thread asking for people to come up with things to use on a page. Then we can make our own long list of things to do to a page so we do not forget anything.

I love using chalks with stencils!

I don't use much of my ribbon or buttons or eyelets that I've collected....but I don't really want to either. I've slowly been donating them and kept only a few I think I *might* use one day....
I forget about my chipboard collection and my embossing folders a lot...just recently started pulling out the embossing folders more.

Can someone pleeeeeeeeeaaase come make me an inventory binder?!?!? I can pay in room, board and scrappy supplies?!?

I actually started one for my stamps, but never finished. Too daunting a task.

Anyway--lots of stuff I forget to use (rub ons, punches, buttons, chalks, eyelets to name a few) and I think the idea of having a jar of prompts is a great one!!

Well You ladies seem to have ALOT of kewl stuff to forget about lol, I have always been craft, but just now started getting enough supplies to actually be able to do something with lol. Every since I lost my 2nd daughter to SIDS a few years back, this seems like a wonderful way of "healing" and really helps me keep my mind at ease when my two children start driving me crazy lol.

BTW - If anyone has anything that they want to permenantely forget about lol, I would LOVE to buy some gently used or non-used crafting items at a good price, I cant seem to find much that I can afford at this moment. I dont have much now, so I would love anything, if you have anything you would like to get rid of, clean out some storage, PLEASE let me know!! lol, I would really really love to show your forgotten, neglected craft-babies some much-needed love!

Hey hey, glad I am not the only one who owns a Sizzix lol. I purchased it before realizing it was like the oldest one out and that dies are very hard to find unless buying them online from people who are selling their old collection. But in most cases, they want an arm and a leg for them! I would LOVE to get some dies for my Sizzix, I haven't even got to use it, except for the ONE lousy pine cone die I have lol (seriously) I guess its a cute little pinecone, but seriously lol, that one pinecone gets old lol. If you would be interested in selling some of your sizzix dies or even more so, your embossing folders, please LET ME know!! I would love to buy some in a lot, or even swap them for some other scrapping items!! whatever would interest you! I dont mind to ship!

I made one of those a few years ago with all the various supplies that I have listed on little strips in a decorated paint cain. I pull out a handful of strips and challenge myself to use at least 2-3 things from the strips. It's a great challenge and also helps you use stuff you have forgotten about. Haven't done it in awhile though...may have to try today!

After starting this thread it started bothering me that I had so many tools and supplies I don't use.

I cleared a place on a wide lateral file cabinet and set up my BIg shot. I put out my glossy accents which I had never used where I could see it and think of it.

THen next layout I did I used my Big shot for 4 pieces of the layout - so convenient where it was in range where I could see it and I also used glossy accents on that page.

Now that I can reach my Big Shot easily I think I will be using it a right more. (In the past I had only used it once.)

ANother thing I notice is I don't use a lot of stuff because I would have to learn to use it all over again. I had to figure out the Big Shot again!

I bought a strip of butterflies at Joanns (could have been Michaels but I think it was Joanns). Its Martha Stewart crafts and it has 20 pieces in it - that 20 borders with butterflies in different colors.

I used the yellow butterflies and I coated each of the smaller butterflies in glossy accents so they shine and "pop" in the line of butterflies in the border without changing the color.

Glossy Accents are so fun! Not only do they give that nice finish to kind of blah things, you can add alcohol ink (maybe other kinds ?) to it to make raindrops or egg yolks or anything you can think of :>) While wet, you can throw some ultra fine glitter in to add extra bling and the Glossy Accents will keep the glitter in place. Just remember to allow drying time...like Stickles, I try to use the Glossy Accents last so I don't smear it all over the place. Yes, I'm a klutzy scrapper~Judy

I forget to do lettering with the individual sticker letters. I like to do the Silhouette cuts where it's all one strip and put that on there. I have a million of those little letters and they're just sitting in a box. >_<

Also, I loathe rub ons. I have never once got a rub on to look even semi-decent on a page. I stopped using them all together. Thankfully, I have a scrap pal who loves them so I swap with her for stickers.

Sure, you can add bigger glitter, but then I just use Stickles instead. The ultra fine glitter makes it look kind of like a metallic line for a little bit different look than with bigger glitter.~Judy

I was thinking about this while scrapping the other day. I already have Pinterest boards to keep inventory of my supplies (so I can check before buying at a store) but I never remember to flip through them while scrapping. Same thing with binders. I thought about making a poster with samples of the punches and stuff and maybe just words like GLITTER and posting above my desk. Maybe then I'd remember to use something.

I don't even own any glossy accents, so ya'll are making me feel bad!

LOL!

But Henri is right. I've really noticed that the way you have something STORED, is essential to USING it. That's why I labled the top of my Distress Inks. I love it, now I can put my hand on what I want right away. It took a couple of hours to do but it was totally worth it.

Now I just have to be not too lazy to set up my sewing machine!

Crimson—You really NEED some Glossy Accent...and it's only one bottle. It's up to you to add the ink or the glitter or just use it "as is". One little bottle...of course it will probably be lonely in the shopping cart all by itself, so you might NEED to buy some extra things just to keep it company :>) ~Judy

I used Glossy Accents on the wagon on this layout. It was a Cricut cut, and I wanted it to look, well, not so much like a Cricut cut, lol.

Great question... and oh soooo many things I dont use... I hate hate hate eyelets... just dont get them. I need to put them together and give them to someone. But I would think besides that .. the most thing would be flowers. But oh so many things I dont use. I have challenged myself for this year to not buy anything but adhesives and if I really need something for a special project. It actuall makes me rethink the way I scrap.

I have to admit - my Slice gets forgotten a lot becuase it is packed away. I just forget. I love it but it just doens't occur to me to get it out most of the time.

I found really cool paper that you use with inks and chalks and different processes - the paper is textured white with a pattern. When you add the color and wipe it off it makes really gorgeous paper. SO much you can do with it.

I bought a good bit of it 2 years ago and packed it away and forgot about it. Now that I found it yesterday I'm anxious to play with it.

Went through my embossing folders. So many that are really cool but I forget I have them.

Henri, Speaking of Forgotten......I just TODAY used the spatter and drip stamps! Remember that?

At LAST!

Oh yes I do - mine is custom made for me and I have not forgotten it. I found someone who is going to teach me to wet emboss and then I want to use it with a baby meal time layout or possibly Halloween.

You will enjoy the embossing, it's fun.

Congrats on the new little one! You should have lots of drips and spatters to scrap!

Guilty of forgetting a lot of diff tools including eyelets & brads. We moved a year ago into a new house and I still have three large boxes of scrapping supplies packed...
