Kelly - Try using a wet Q-tip to sketch your tearing line. For instance, mat your photo then wet the line you want to tear fairly generously with the Q-tip. Let it soak a bit then tear away!

You can also tear around a shape such as a bowl or other similar object. They make rulers for fancy shaped edges for tearing, too.

Yay! i'm in!
i have one of those tearing rulers, they are awesome!
I also like to make a small torn/distressed edge by "hanging" the side of the paper over the edge of the cutting mat and using my nails to make a straight tear.

Marci, okay explain what you mean by "different" use of twine - or rather, what's "normal" use of twine? tying around the page? making a bow? making a banner? I'm stymied with this one...

Olesya...left up to your interpretation.....for me that means just a bow....or the trimming at the end of a tag....can you see how I used it in 2 different places on my LO...also...Becky entwined her C in the title....whatever you come up with is fine!!!!..cant wait to see!!!!

I did find a solution for my washi tape dilema, thanks for all the suggestions though. I almost think I am anti-washi cause I tend to not like those things that become the latest and greatest trends, but I am sure I will cave eventually.

tearing - the green print behind the photo
different use of twine - made into flowers (pink & white ones)
washi tape (horizontal striped pieces)
upper/lower case within title (only one cap - hope that counts)

Here is mine all done! thanks so much for the inspiration, it all started to flow together. I did not have the washi then it hit me to use one of my favorite non scrapping items... drywall tape! I dont know that I ever used much yellow but I think it looks great and may have to consider it more often now.

Here's mine.
The top border in mustard color. The photo mats have torn edges. Glued twine to the edge of the large flower (never doing that again - more glue on my fingers than on the paper). Punched the little blue flowers out of washi tape and wrote a photo caption on another piece. Used upper and lower case alphies in the title.
