She supplied me the mini sea shells, beach glass, and thick-gauge jewelry wire to finish it and I was pretty impressed with how it turned out!
And I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I'm very very blessed to have so many wonderful creations by my sb.com friends in my newly redecorated living room. Rebecca, LisaL, and Melissa have all made me pieces for my beach themed room. My twin sister Missie and I made a few pieces too. I can't tell you have nice it is to look around my living room and see each piece as a reminder of the wonderful friends I have found here.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the new VLB hostess with the mostess. LesleyC has volunteered to host the VLB and allow me to enter retirement. It has been so much fun hosting all of the talented individuals here. But my obligations to the dog rescue & family have left me little time to host.
You're not going to get rid of me. I would love to play along.
Lesley! How exciting that you are going to be the new hostess! I want to play too again next month! I've really enjoyed seeing all the awesome layouts this month and I've had fun sharing mine too! This is an awesome thread.
Eileen - thank you for all you have done for this thread - and I still look forward to seeing your new layouts and also want to keep up with all your fosters. Laverne is so cute and I also love her name.
We used to take in a lot of cats from the pound - at one time had 6 of them and some we kept them all for about their entire lives. Some of them are still alive. Others could not get along in a multiple cat household and we had to find other homes. One got sick and died at 10 months and that still breaks my heart. Plus other ones came and went. HEre are some of their names:
Spencer Tracey (our gorgeous long-haired red cat)
Boris Karloff (tuxedo kitty - perfect)
and I can't forget the two my son has had for the past 12 years:
My sons two cats are still living and my husband has Bogie. We got most of these in the early 90's but never had more than 6 at a time - a lot since they were all indoor cats. When my ex-husband and I divorced we each got 3 of them.
We don't have any pets now because we are gone too much but we enjoy Joe's cats.
Thanks for that warm welcome, Eileen!! And for all you've done. The doggies need you -- just come and play when you have a chance.
And I spit out my cherry pit at Schlmiel/Schlmazzel not going over well in the south! LMAO!!! Butch and Sundance would be PERFECT boy doggie names!
I'm looking forward to hostessing. Just a heads up that I will be on a business trip August 5-15, so not sure how much I'll be on at that time. I will pop in to give the challenge for the week, but if I disappear, it's not like I'm gone for good.
I'm falling a bit behind--long story, but my littlest was diagnosed with strep throat after being rushed to the ER for a possible head injury. This was right after I got home from the crop; I feel like I haven't caught up on sleep yet. I don't know if I'm catching the strep, if my fatigue is because I haven't been eating right/exercising/drinking enough water, or if it's just another stupid sleep/depression issue. Anywho, I'm in for August (of course) and I will catch up in the next few days.
Note to self: start at my post on page 18.
Thank you Lesley for taking over the hostessing! I realize I have been so busy and scatterbrained this month that I never even posted weekly challenges... BUT, this is the VLB, I'm sure you gals won't shoot me for that!
And if you gals do feel like taking on a simple challenge this last partial week of July, make a birthday card! My mom's bday is coming so I have birthday cards on the brain, lol...
Eileen, I know you will enjoy your 'retirement' with the doggies and your family.
Lesley, Good luck taking over the VLB. I hope to come and go. I haven't manage to get much scrapping done over the last few years since Ryan and been working full time and in school and then working 2 jobs. But starting next month he will be hired full time as a Sheriffs Deputy. Which means he'll be home more often, although we have no idea what his schedule will be. So I'm going to have to play it by ear month to month if I can sign up or not.
