Love the monthly challenge.......... gonna make me step way outta my box and try something new. I was never a tag maker.... for some reason I'm phobic to it! The ticks start... first my eyes start twitching, then my neck, then my arms, then my hands and before long I am standing up and sitting down! LOL.... a little dramatic huh?!? But it's true. I really look like I have teretts syndrome (sp sorry). LOL

Off to scrapadoodle some before I have to cook dinner. It's all prepped just have to start cooking when gets closer to hubby getting home.

I would love to play again! Not certain if I am playing for points or just for fun. I need to deposit my pay check and pay a few bills and see how much is left. My entry has to come out of my monthly scrap budget which may be nonexistent this month. I will let you know. I would love to do he challenge the last month too if you would let me! I have some fun ideas!

HI Julie! Sure! Paper piecing is taking peices of cut, punched or torn paper and layering or laying them in an order to make a specific design. . . Like a puzzle :-). (an example is in my gallery - just added a tag with a paper doll . . . She's pieced
. . Her body, dress and pockets, and the background :-)

A die cut is a single piece of paper cut into a shape or letter . . . As an example - when you punch out a design with a punch or cut with a cutting machine or device.. .like a star . . . That star is a die cut. You can make your own or you can find them in stores already cut.

Thanks for stepping in with an answer ScrappinTraveler......and welcome to the thread.
What is your name?

A die cut is also a sticker, chipboard piece, and each of the pieces from the paper piecing is considered a die cut.

OK. . . so I see there's a daily challenge too. . . and since I don't have mine set up I will. . . but being the newbie on the block, I don't see "where". I was in my profile but I don't see where to add signature :-)

Hi Marty..... welcome!

To add to your signature go to your profile page and on the far left you will see "Forum Info".... click on that.
Next screen will give you a list.... click on "Forum Control Panel"
Next screen you will see a little list on the left... click on "signature"

That is how it is done and where you put all the stuff you want people to see or need to put in there. (ie... your name, scrappy goals, daily challenges, challenges your in. Anything you want, it only allows so many characters but it will keep count for you. You'll see the counter box there.)

Hope this helps and is easy enough to follow for you.

This is a great challenge and fantastic group of girls! Lots of inspiration here, have fun and cannot wait to see your creations.

HI Julie!

Thank you and welcome to the group

Karen, I am confused on your response on the paper piecing and die cuts. It sounds like you are counting the same thing multiple times. Die cuts are stickers and each piece of a paper piecing are die cuts????? This has gotten too confusing for my aging brain.

each piece you "cut out" in any shape is a die cut.
Each paper piecing has layers of die cuts to piece together.... that is how you paper piece from each die cut that was cut out.

This is how it was explained long, long ago in here when it was brought up by someone doing some ranting before about "every little point" and category. Was also told that chipboard is considered a die cut as well.

cuts are die cuts

If you cut out something from the paper dolls cart
then cut out all the pieces to the outfit in different colors
each one is a die cut
then when you piece them together it is paper piecing

Let's say you have a giraffe and you cut 3 pieces to complete the giraffe. Each cricut piece that you cut is a diecut. Once you piece your diecuts together to make the giraffe that is 1 paper piece item.

LOL, I just realized I have shorted myself some points I think!-Naw the paper piecing was very recently added.

Good luck Karen-hope you are feeling better soon.

Nice start Julie!

I have been non-stop scrapping for a week trying to get to my goal and to finish up the monthly. I thought I would be able to finish it last night but got home from a Matchbox 20 concert too late. I got most of them done-have my journaling done just need to decorate the pages for the last week-anyway my scraproom looks like a bomb went off. And I have a friend coming over tomorrow to scrap so need to get my butt in gear.

Wondering how Quay is doing today?

Hi Deb.

I don't think I have seen that question before. Since the rules state

***** You will only be eligible for prizes having met your monthly layout goal. Each paying player may only win in ONE category.*****

then I am guessing at least 1 layout must be made.

You can also play motivational til you get your feet wet and try working on some layouts. When I first started I only made cards. It took me a while before I started doing layouts

Hi Ladies...

I am still here, hanging in their. And doing ok.

Norma put me down as Motivational this month and I think I'll go with 10 LO's

I posted the July winners, and I will be sending out GC shortly. I need Anne's email...hello Anne are you here? hehe

Ok quick update.
David looked wonderful and happy. we had more of family reunion than we did a funeral. It was great. Tons of people loved David and were there to let me know how much. I am so grateful for all the friends here at home and you my friends here. I am staying busy and it helps a lot. I am already getting rid of old pills and papers that have no meaning. I will be making a memory book of him and that is going to heal a lot of heartache, I know, because sorting through his stuff is helping through that as well...I want to share something funny with you all.

David would get reimbursed money from Kennecott (his place or employment) and he wanted it to buy gun supplies. Sometimes I would make him give me some of it. He wasn't happy about it. SO in going thru his nightstand, I found a tally of how much he gave me and then off to the side was the same amount of what I owed him. hehe He was an eccentric man and it is so him to want it all back.

Ok I am off to get GC sent off...Love you guys!

Thanks for helping me out Norma.

Welcome to all the newbies!

It was a long day at the hospital/with surgery.

Wasn't feeling that great earlier. Mostly my tummy was upset (which never happens after surgery).
Hubby is taking really good care of me though.
They really drugged me up this time. I think it had a lot to do with it.
Sent me home with 4 scripts. I am now starting to feel the meds from the hospital wearing off, so means I need to take more meds and then I will be going to bed (with a bucket next to me).

Will catch up on chatter tomorrow.

Goodnight all

Ok so let me see if I understand really that means I been cutting my self short of points then if its just a single cut that's a die cut but if I use layers that's a paper piecing dose that mean I count each layer as point for die cuts?

Afternoon all guess what I got my goodies today just about to pop dinner on and take photos to share I cant wait to scrap with them tonight.

Didn't get to scrap today had to go buy a new car yes I know only got one a few months ago but its a long story.

Thanks Norma! I made the fix! I know I'm such a "newbie". . .:-)

Sorry about this but another newbie question. . . my check is in the mail this morning, so not sure when it will arrive. Question is about the bonus points. . . will someone tell me if it arrives before the 7th??

Hi Marty, SO glad you have decided to join us here!!! I can't wait to get to know you better!

You have mailed your check so you can take full points. It counts as soon as you mail it! Now how is that for exciting? hehe

Hi Norma,

This is my first time doing points. If I follow Julie's info of
+400 just paypal'd my money
+100 set up siggy
+ 10 done today
+ 5 update siggy

pages: 0
total: 510

Then I should have posted
+100 set up siggy
+ 10 done today
+ 5 update siggy
+ 1795 lo
Pages: 1
total: 1890

then update my siggy. Is this correct? I mentioned other challenges in gallery description, do I also need to post info here? I sent pm with page points tally.

Hello, welcome to AGC!

The picture of your LO "and" the LO points are to be posted with the points you are taking for that LO in order for the points and LO to be counted. Hope I made sense and I helped.

Is your Title "Earl" or 5-28-2011 Earl" If your title is Earl it is 20 points, if its the other it is 55.

The new photo is anything "other than your LO, and/or weekly photos you want to share on the thread.
It would be best to also list the points your taking in their own seperate category. Like the "ink and distressing" and also "die cuts and hand cuts" and so on different categories.

I'm gonna try to help you out here. If I see correctly from your image you should have these points:

85 title
5 siggy updat
5 clean up
50 card stock
20 ribbon
10 ink
70 die cuts
20 flowers
10 distressing
10 card
50 embossing
100 lift
10 done today
============
445 points so far

Now if your flowers are stickers it's plus 10
If you used any punches you count those points
Anything on the card is old stash you count up those points as well.

Here's what you gave me and I added 10 for flower stickers. Today's cardlift challenge was for 150. So do I get the 150 plus the 100 regular lift points?

80 title (16 letters)
5 siggy updat
5 clean up
50 card stock
20 ribbon
10 ink
20 die cuts (just 2)
100 piecing
20 flowers
10 stickers
10 distressing
10 card
40 old stash items
50 embossing
100 regular lift
150 card lift
10 done today
============
So would 620 new total points for card be correct?
I truly do appreciate everyone's help!!!

Yes, you get the card points for todays challenge and the lift points

You also get more die cut points:
each flower = 2
the Happily die cut
the Ever die cut
the After die cut

So the die cut total equals 50

Also..........
Did you/are you entering this card into any "other" challenges other than this one?
Cricut?
Card?

If so you get 75 "each" challenge you enter it into.... make sure you list next to the points each challenge it is entered into.

Linda,
Your welcome... it's best to list each one separate as I showed you "with" your project. It's easier to do it that way and keep track.
Also if you read some of the other posts with points you'll get a better sense of how to format your posts when you take points.
It's overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll be fine.
Plus we are a great group of gals and all help one another, so any questions just ask!

Quay it is so wonderful to see/hear from you!!

I am doing what I can to help out.
Especially while I am re-cooperating from surgery yesterday. It's still a little hard for me to get into my scrap room comfortably. I am on "partial weight bearing" again! So using the walker and no free hands so to speak.

I am going to try to attempt to go in there tomorrow and do a little of "something". Not going to push it though.

So good to hear from you and hear your good spirits considering. Hugs to you! Going through David's things is going to be rough for you I know, but it is good you will have family around to help you with it.

I should be off to bed also. Rest is best after surgery! But you know these meds keep me sleeping all day and now I don't want/having a hard time sleeping!
Well will lay my head down and try anyway!

Hugs to all, goodnight!

As an FYI, yesterday was National Random Acts of Kindness Day!!!

I say we all get 100 points for just being here for each! I don't post tons of comments, but I try to look at the general galleries and ALWAYS have a smile on my face, or can relate to the page and back story.

How many times do we find out something about sb contributors and reply with posting a lo or card as an inspirational response?

Karen thank you so much for all the help you have shared with Linda-I really appreciate the help.

So I was mia yesterday. I had a friend come over and after she left I started feeling sick and it just kept getting worse as the evening wore on. I went to bed at 9p and got up at 10a. I can't remember the last time I did that. Still not feeling great but already better than yesterday

Hi Marty....
It would be best to embed your LO first and then list your points with the number of points your taking first then what type of points next to the number.

Also so far what I can gather you can count "each pearl" on the spray. Gonna see how I can help you out and post like I did for Linda and then you can go from there and make any corrections or add something I may have missed.

Hope you feel better Norma.
I had another surgery on my ankle Thursday. Not up to par right now getting into my scrap room. Was feeling sick, pain was being managed, but last night was rough. Also had some nightmares last night. Rough two days, but getting through it all.
So thought the least I can do to feel like I am doing something is help out here.
Feel better!
