When did you know you were obsessed with scrapbooking and everything that goes with it? I started scrapbooking in 2003 but its only been in the last 4 years that I'm obsessed.

I scrapbooked in 1969 when Bill and I were dating - first time I ever scrapbooked and I was obsessive about keeping it up.

When we broke up end of 1970 I quit scrapbooking, just lost interest.

Didn't start again until we got back together in 1996. When I started again I was really obsessive - started documenting everything. Maybe its because we lost 38 years and so I don't want to miss anything this time - maybe that is it.

Whatever the reason, I'm obsessed.

I started my obsession immediately after my first scrapbooking class in 2004. It tamed down to "hobby level" sometime in 2012. I loved the obsession stage, but the hobby level is far kinder to my pocketbook.

I got obsessive in 2009, had been scrapbooking since about 2005 or so before that. I had a huge room in my basement and I had it all. I could afford it because I still lived with my parents so it was great! At the end of 2010, I went through a really hard breakup with my boyfriend of 5 years and decided I wanted a fresh start and to be more independent. I moved out of my parents house into my own place. I got a 2 bedroom apartment for a really good price. Once I was by myself though, I didn't have as much time and wasn't doing as much stuff. I met my now husband in March of 2012 and I lost interest. Not because I didn't like it anymore, but because he wanted to spend time with me...which it wasn't like that with my ex. I used scrapbooking as a way to cope and be in denial about my relationship falling apart. After my husband and I got engaged and I was working on wedding projects, I realized how much I missed being creative. After our wedding, I worked on some old kits I had, and now I'm back in obsessive mode!

I've been doing this since the early 90's and it has gotten worse instead of better.

My obsessions wane in and out. I'll be obsessed with scrapbooking for a while and then I'll switch over to an obsession with knitting and then I'll switch over to cake decorating for a while. I've learned to just go with the flow and know that this obsession will fade into another obsession.

I can't pinpoint exactly when I got obsessed but I think it started shortly after i joined Scrapbook.com, LOL!
And it got worse when I dsocvered Scrapbook Kit Clubs and Scrappy Blog Challenges...so I think about 5 years ago.
I would rather buy scrappy supplies than clothes...but I think it's because i know Scrappy supplies will always "fit"! HAHAHAHAHAH!

I started in 2005 and bought a bunch of stickers and deco scissors. I mainly scrapped with friends as a social thing. In 2009 I started getting into different techniques. The last four years I have really become obsessed especially with all the mixed media stuff. I love adding texture, ink, and paint to my los. In the last year I have started getting into altered projects and stamping, which only fuels the obsession.

My very best scrapbooking BFF is a native of New Zealand but she came to the U.S. 20+ years ago to work as a nurse. This woman is an artist when it comes to scrapbooking! Honestly, I would not be anywhere near as creative in my scrapbooking without her influence. She uses stamps and chalk and dyes and stickles and colored pens, etc. like no one you have ever seen. I call her my scrapbooking muse! Two of her sons and her two small grandaughters are still in New Zealand and she and her U.S. born spouse moved back three years ago. It's been hard and I miss her terribly, but she did need to be back home with family. I have to say that she started my real obsession with scrapbooking. She opened up a world of possibilities for me.

Exactly. One year I asked DH to get me only giftcards to clothing stores. It was the only way I would buy much-needed clothing!

Sorry to say it does get worse!!!

The more you learn, the more stuff you NEED!

I am an embellishment junkie!

I have been scrapping since about 2002, but moved into the obsessed stage about 2 years ago when I decided to make a large scrap book for my parents 60th anniversary!

I just keep adding more Sterilite drawers!

I now have a journal next to my bed so if I have an idea I can write it down! I then look through the journal when making layouts.

Well this is all bad then. I have made three on line purchases in the last two months plus I found a lot of goodies on sale while traveling. Bad, all bad.

bonprof: I agree, I would rather shop for scrapbooking supplies than clothes. I don't want to spend money on a new pair of glasses right now because that is money taken away from my hobbies.

Lucky for me, I did find some great Cropper Hopper storage items on sale at Tuesday Morning because I need them now!

I been in a stamp crazy mode lately. I found an amazing stamp store on Etzy, I had never seen their stamps before which are mostly vintage. I'm in trouble.

Now that I am married and have kids I don't have the extra income to buy whatever I want for scrapping but I still collect more than I scrap. I really need to clean out my craft room so I can actually use it. :-). Most of the time my scrappy stuff stays in suitcases ready for the next crop I am going to attend.

Hi I'm Lauri and I'm a scrapaholic... yes this is true because I will go through withdrawls if I don't get my fix!

I started scrapbooking back in Jan. 1999 to make my wedding album (though I made a couple of scrapbooks in the 90's unaware that it was an actual hobby) and I've been into this hobby ever since on a regular basis. However I would have to say I realized it crossed over from a hobby to an actual obsessive compulsive disorder when the hoarding started. I would have to say that started right after I bought my first Cricut & attended my first scrapbook convention. From there all hope was lost.

OMGosh! I have I dunno, 3500 papers and YET.....

I determined today for some unknown reason....let's say it artistic expression....that I just have to use purple to scrap this photo of my grandmother. So guess what? I really don't have any appropriate paper to use. You know what that means? Shopping.

Good grief. I might need to drop the purple idea. This is ridiculous!

Me, too, trem! I'm always on the lookout for things to use when scrapping, no matter what kind of store I'm in.

I started scrapping in about 1998, but didn't seriously start until we built our house in 2000. Now that we are down to just one son at home, I have the room, time and bit of extra money to really devote to what I love doing, which is being creative and expressing myself through crafts.

Speaking of obsessions, I've made a vow to myself to not buy any more paper until I actually use some up. I mean, I get several lovely sheets every month in my kit club, and I have thousands of sheets in my scrap room. I really don't need any more. At all. However, my vow does NOT include embellishments. I am completely addicted to flowers and bling.

Ok, I am so happy, I found some Prima and some a few other pages with purple without going shopping. You CAN forget what you have.

I did it as a child. I stopped doing it until 97 when I went to a CM party. I became obsessed immediately & have never stopped being obsessed since.

I haven't been scrapbooking for even a year yet. But I think I knew I was obsessed when I bought my cricut from a garage sale.. and now 11 months later have a cricut, silhouette... and some other fun toys.

My obsessions change, as well. I had been quilting for a year or so, and got burned out on that. Now I am back to scrapbooking (obsessively) again. For a while I knit, then scrap, then quilt, then paint... Whatever I do, I do it compulsively!

I started scrapping in 2004 but didn't really know I was addicted until 2008 when I put together a whole room just for my scrapbooking. I drove about 90 miles to the nearest IKEA and bought a work table and lots of shelving for storage, painted the room my favorite color and then set up permanent shop in my daughter's old room. Hi....my name is Lisa and I am definitely addicted to scrapbooking.

I started my first scrapbook in High school...1988. It was basically just a bunch of tickets, cards, and junk, along with a few photos.

In 2006 I made my first layout of My little girl at bath time. But it wasn't until 2009 that I really started to save up all my money to have the Scrap room (craftyland) that I always wanted.

I've made lots of purchases at IKEA and Michaels for the storage in my room, as well as some items I got At Big Lots, Goodwill and the thrift stores.
