April is the month of new beginnings and flowers and birds coming alive again. So our April colors are Purple, Aqua and Tan inspired by this beautiful bird by Touched by a Butterfly. And again, don't worry about exact shades, but make the majority of your page these three colors. Use pastels for softness, neon for fun or deep primary colors for boldness - can't wait to see what you bring to us this month!

RULES:

1. Use all three colors - Purple, Aqua and Tan. You can use as many colors as you wish, just so these three are included and prominent. You can use any shade or tone.
2. Any size of layout, digi or paper, one or 2-pages are allowed.
3. Only one layout per person can be submitted for voting. Can be digi, cards or any size layout.
4. You MUST allow public embedding to be entered into the challenge.
5. You can only upload new layouts from April 1st until April 30, 2014 at 5pm GMT/9am PST (sb.com time).
Open to new entries anytime during the month.
6. Please link the products used on your layout - it's great to find out what lovely products you have used.
7. Only when the challenge has been closed, PM me the numbers of your favorite 3 layouts. The layout with the most votes, wins!
8. Do not vote for yourself as you will get a vote from me for pm-ing yours.
9. Try to leave comments on the layouts entered in the challenge ... everyone needs a little love.
10. Have fun!

Twist - Since our inspiration for the colors was a bird, the twist is to include a bird in your layout or in journaling. Just let me know how you are referencing a bird. I am counting eggs as a reference to birds - after all, no bird, no egg

Glad you are liking the colors. The bird is copyrighted, so you would have to purchase the kit to use it, but it would be pretty easy to make a similar one with pastels or paints. If you want to purchase the kit, just pm me. I think it's 3.49 but lots of matching elements.

But, any bird is all you need or even just a reference to a bird.

March is officially closed. Please pm me your votes.

Sharon, please post your layout and I would like to post in the introduction for additional inspiration as many have not worked with these colors before.

Here is the layout I made yesterday, the colors can be hard to spot especially in a photo. One of the bg layers is purple with lots of tan flowers and embellishments. The aqua in in the photo mat layer and some of the colors in the dot bg paper.
Kudzu By Sewflake

Never knew there were so many things you could do with Kudzu and from the way it is growing in south, we may have to come up with more uses for the vine and start harvesting it!!

15 have voted and they are all so good, that there isn't a clear winner, so everyone needs to vote!!!

Michelle has started the ball rolling this month - great page! I have decided that eggs on the layout qualifies as a bird reference - after all there would be no egg if there was no bird (or at least a fowl).

We missed you Shelly, but certainly know how it goes.

Glad you were able to revive the little bird, Corky.

Great layouts, Pat and Sarah. It's fun sometimes to think outside the box.

We are getting my dad's house ready for the new owners (my nephew and his family) to move in and everything has to be out by next weekend. I have rented a cargo van and taking a load to my daughter in Texas so will be pretty busy this weekend so may not get to check in often. I have brought two van loads and a pickup full to my house. So much for my minimizing. But I am taking that much out but it's like starting over. I have carried boxes and van loads out of here only to have a pile equally as large to go though and sort through again.

When my brother said, everyone has everything out that they want and I'm taking everything else to donation this weekend while you're in Texas, I completely panicked! So I spent the day today loading my van with everything that I couldn't stand to go to donation. I will probably donate later, but I just wasn't quite ready to let it go. My poor husband has been very understanding as he takes trip after trip to the basement.

I'll check in some this weekend.

Great pages. I'm home and settling back in. Scrapping my trip in Project Life style so I don't forget anything and will go back and scrap a few special photos in traditional style. I think the weather is finally warming up.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes - it was a great weekend and the last celebration was last night with the Iowa family.

Well I have really struggled with this challenge. I love the color combo, but couldn't find pics to use. I realized I just don't use much purple. That's just weird. But, I think I've got an idea brewing and hope to get something done in the sext day or two.

I am still struggling with this one too. Maybe a vacation picture would work, since I don't usually use purple on my boy's layouts. I am busy working on graduation stuff tho.

Those who are struggling, remember, it can be a shade or you can use mostly blue with just a hint of the purple. It is a very unusual combination.

Thought I would share:

I just signed up for snapfish's promotion. If you download their App for your smartphone, you get 100 free prints a month for one year. That saves you $9.00. Still have to pay shipping but a great way to print the photos taken with your phone. You have to order from the app, but you just select from your photo stream or camera roll and order from your phone - super easy. Just in case that is something you do anyway, they said they go back and give to you if you already have the app on your phone.

Okay, thinking about next month's colors. We have had all the spring we are going to get, so I think we are heading straight for summer, so I have included one pastel if we still want to think spring, one that can go either way, and one a little deeper.

Thinking picnics and BBQ - ants, watermelon, and ladybugs:
Black,Red and Green By PamStewart.Iowa

Or pastel colors of spring:
Pink,Aqua and Lime Green By PamStewart.Iowa

or a set of primary colors that you can really play with:

Red,Yellow,Blue,Green By PamStewart.Iowa

What are you thinking?

Hmmm, I like the watermelon and the pinwheel. In fact, that watermelon sure makes me crave a bbq this weekend. Sure wish this crazy Kansas wind would stop blowing.

I am still struggling to find pics that fit this one too - I love the color combo though!

I really like the pinwheel suggestion for next time!

I like the flower with the pink, aqua, and lime colors. I'm not quite ready for summer.
They're calling for rain all next week.
Glad you're home safe, Pam.
