Smooth water color paper works the best. I have several kinds. I like the hot pressed smooth paper the best. I have found that the hot pressed paper seems to be more common in the UK. It is a little difficult to find and more expensive. Cold pressed is cheaper and available in a lot of places.
I bought some archer's and some strathmore online. I find that the hot pressed smooth paper is worth the extra money and the hassle to find it.
Yes I make them myself. I like to sew. I make blue jean quilts. Recently I made a blue jean pillow too and a baby bonnet that I think turned out pretty nicely. If I do have to say so myself. Take a look in my gallery. I posted a pic of it.
Rosey it's actually not that heavy. But it is mostly used for a cuddle blanket and not for sleeping. Some of the baby blankets have belt loops on them so that they can be used for floor blankets with toys clipped to the belt loops.
TFL Andrea. I also love making baby quilts. My sister makes large jean quilts. I have also made a twin sized and a queen sized quilt but the baby quilts are still my favorite. I have one on the go right now.
Good start, Lisa! I remember you saying that you make a lot. Christmas cards are my favorite to make.
Kayla, I just use watercolor pencils. The only other things I need is a little container of water, a paper towel, and a couple of paint brushes. I mostly use a really fine tipped one. There are different ways you can do it, but I just outline (and color a bit of the edges if the area is bigger) with the pencils, dip my brush in the water, blot it on the paper towel, then pull the color in from the outlining.
Lisa wow 10 christmas cards. Good for you. Are they all the pretty door ones?
I color my stamps with distress Inks. I would suggest watching some you tube videos on stamp coloring. There are a lot of different things you can use. I learned almost everything from you tube videos and trail and error.
I have not had a chance to work on anything the last couple days.
No I haven't made any more of the doors yet but I plan too. That one did turn out pretty festive. Usually if I run across an easy design that I like I'll make up 4 to 6 duplicates. It helps get to that 50 card goal a little faster.
I cannot make a card or scrapbook page unless I have an urge to make one. I can't just sit down and make one any old time...that's what frustrates me too. Some evenings I'm so bored all I want to do is sit down and make cards, but I don't have the inspiration.
Sometimes I'll make someone's birthday card, even if it's not for months because it really helps if I have a reason to make one but no pressure to get it done right away. Then too, if I decide I don't like it later, I have time to make a different one. If I have a recipient picked out, something will usually come to me because I like to personalize them a bit (or a lot).
I need to get better about pre making cards. I am always hurrying to get peoples cards done. I started making a list of birthdays and such.
Like rosey I get most of my ideas from looking at other cards. Pinterest in my best tool for that.
My biggest problem with making cards is I love the look of the vintage heavy embellished cards. I can not make myself make them though. I know people will eventually throw the card away and I am not putting 30 bucks worth of stuff on something that is getting thrown away.
Hey there. Hope you're having a good weekend. I just finished this one. My dad asked me to make it for his coworker's wife. She used to bake/cook them goodies but hasn't for a while. She told her husband (dad's coworker) she hasn't because she's never seen a thank you card or anything. They want some more goodies now
LOL! I can so relate to that. I went through the same thing with my baking. Sometimes it's just nice to receive some good feedback especially when you work so hard to please. Adorable card. I hope this makes her feel better.
Hi girls. Scrapbook.com had me make up examples to promote my new stamp line they are carrying. Can I get your opinions? I only put up 4 examples so far. GINA MARIE STAMPS (I also have embossing folders)

When you upload your cards to the gallery there is a box that says mark products used. When you click that it will bring up a search bar. Just add the name of your stamps and click add to list. Then when you add to gallery it will have you mark where you used the product.
hi all! I would love to join this group. I started cardmaking a few years ago and do it almost more than scrapbooking now. most of my cards are made for charity, love having a great excuse to make more lol.
I'm in a major rut right now and not happy with my creations. I was just looking through this thread and felt inspired!
Hi to all of you who joined since the last time I peeked it. I've had a very fun week. My weekend was aboslutly wonderful. I know it's almost weekend again but this is the first chance I've had this week to say hello to everyone.
Andrea, that is a lot for your dfil. I'm glad he's getting better. I'm not a stranger to surgeries and being in the hospital for periods of time, I feel for him.
So I have always had problems with those MS punch around the page punches. After giving it another go and going through 2 full pieces of paper (cutting pieces 3.25x5), I finally figured out that I think the problem is my trimmer is off by about 1/16". I guess just enough to mess it up. It finally worked! And, why can't all 12x12 paper be just that? Some are off a bit. I'm done ranting now.
Hoping to work on something today. Anyone else?
I should figure out something else to do since this is probably going to be our last summery weekend, near 80, but...
Kayla, it's such a good feeling to give something at home a little facelift. Just rearranging makes me happy, it feels fresh and new. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do to rearrange because my rooms are small and the way they are laid out.
lol amy i don't think i have ever seen a real even 12x12 piece of paper. I am glad you figured out how much your trimmer is off. Now you can just a just the cut. I have a few of those punches and have never got them to be perfect.
I bought a cricut imagine several years ago. What a waste of money. I think it is the one purchase i have regretted. Now that cricut released the explore they have released print to cut with it. As part of the release they gave out the imagine images. Any one who bought an imagine got all the imagine cartridges digitally downloaded to their craft room free. I took mine out of the box and spent a few hours updating it, aligning it and getting it to work. I figure i might as well try and use it.
Happy World Cardmaking Day!! Who's making cards today?? I'm making a huge dent in my Christmas cards today. Uploaded four to my gallery so far. I've taken advantage of a few online sales and challenges. It has been a wonderful Saturday!
