I have to make ten for a swap. then i usually make one for friends that I dont get gifts for but want to send something special. My cards cost extra to mail so it ends up being a big expense. I think i sent about 30 last year.
I'll have to remember that embossing powder, Lisa. Thanks. I like to emboss sentiments, sounds like this would be good for some that have small lettering.
Kayla, my pencils are made by Derwent. If you have a store by you, I'd use a coupon if you can. I think they're all kind of expensive. The nice thing about pencils is that they don't dry up or anything. I've had mine for about 20 years. Yikes, I feel kinda old now lol. I second what Andrea says about watching videos to decide what technique you think you'd like better.
love the looks of the gold heat embossing. I just spent this weekend reorganizing my craft room. finally broke down and bought some more of those storage desk cubes from michaels. my heat embossing tool is now easily accessible, hoping to try using it more!
I had that problem too Stephanie. I hardly ever embossed until I found a place to store my heat gun outside of the drawer. I had to have easier access to it. Now I use it quite a bit because it has a permanent place on my table near an outlet.
Danielle, when all else fails.....add balloons. I love a balloon themed birthday card and they can be for boys or girls. You can make them any color you want. You can die cut them or punch them or even just cut them out by hand. Great easy way to make a birthday card.
Been away for a while, I will try to get back and leave some love! If I don't get around to leaving love on your cards, I did look at them here in the thread and they are beautiful cards. It's been a busy time lately.
Prepping for all the family that will be descending on my house the next few days. Why is it the only thing I really want to do is lock myself in in my scraproom and not come out until Monday?? I have this feeling like...hurry up and feed them and get them out of here so you can play. LOL!
Hope everyone had a good turkey day!! Anyone go black friday shopping? I went to michaels and was let down.. they had my adhesive refills for 70% off. Went to 2 stores and they didn't have any, and were sold out online oh well.
No black Friday shopping for me! I think it would be claustrophobic among all those people!
However I do have exciting news to share! My sister had a baby girl early this morning!! Soraya Elizabeth was born at 2:13 am weight 6 lbs and 15 oz. I thought I still had a couple weeks left to make a card but it seems my time has run out.
Thanks so much for your warm welcome Love your cards Amy and congrats Kayla, what a lovely gift for Thanksgiving. We don't celebrate it here, so it's been business as usual. We're enjoying the summer heat and swimming - or card making in the air-con! Here's another card, my first for the season Merry Christmas By Sarah-Scraps
Good morning ladies. . . such lovely cards being shared! I sat down yesterday to decompress from the Thanksgiving madness with every intention of making my Christmas cards. NOPE -- ended up making layouts of a Disney trip -- from 1998!! Luckily, when I do sit down to make the cards, my design is already made. I made some cards for a holiday craft fair I was in a few weeks back that I completely sold out of, and I'm going to use that design. (I was secretly hoping that I wouldn't sell any of them so my cards would be made!)
I thought after I finished my Christmas cards I could get back to my scrapbooking but I'm still on a card kick apparently. I have only made one scrapbook page since July. Cards are just so quick and fun I can't help myself.
Uh oh! I got a package from one of my swaps that had the cutest Christmas stamp set. I did forget to make someone's card, so looks like I have a good excuse to make a couple more. Oh boy, this is it this time lol, no more after this.
I sent half of yesterday creating a card kit for my 11-year-old niece. 6 weeks ago I showed her an e-mail with a robins Christmas card kit 3-for-2 offer at our craft shop, and her mother said she could have them. I told her to hurry because at that price they would sell out quickly. Last week she texted me to say she couldn't find them on the website any more. Well no dear . So I set about making her a much better kit to make her own. It's taking forever! It keeps getting more complicated. I need to rein myself in!
Danielle if you go to the December Card Sketch challenge a lady there made a card for her husband's b-day if you need some ideas. Also in my gallery there is a masculine b-day card that I made for my grandpa.
Lisa i am glad you are enjoying some holiday shopping for yourself lol. I usually do all my shopping online and add something for myself in the orders. For some reason this year i have not bought a single thing.
I spent a few hours today working on 50 thank you cards I'm doing for my nephew. He's fighting brain cancer and his friends threw him a benefit over the weekend. I offered to do the one thing I know how to do.....send out the thank you's. Between that and all the Christmas festivities and preparations going on I've been swamped. I'm looking forward to January when I can regroup and have some time for scrapbooking again.
Kinda been a dud this year so far. But I did have a good time making cards. I was going to make some tags but short on time. Still have shopping to do for my daughter and husband but I don't have a clue what to get them. Getting a little baking done the next few days but not giving any of it away this year. Just enough to put in the cookie jar.
