Hi everyone. My daughter and son in law have started a project - They are hoping to brighten the days of hospitalized children by delivering handmade cards. They currently are working with Providence Tarzana Pediatrics & Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Trinity Kids Care.

They are looking for any size cheery get well cards for both boys and girls. The cards can be blank on the inside or can include a generic get well wish and signed with your first name, city and state. (no envelopes are necessary) This is a great way to use up your scraps ladies and put a smile on a child's face.

Please let me know if you'd like to help them out. PM me and I will provide their address.

This is an on going project - so pass the word. Each and every card is greatly appreciated.

THANKS!!!

Cards that have been delivered to the children . . .

Will 4x4 cards be ok? I can get more bang from a 12x12 that way if it is.

well- I did not get into the post office Wednesday- there was a line out the door- it's like it was Christmas or something & there was only one clerk. Since I had groceries in the car & the sun was out (temp was low 30's) but the car was warm- I didn't want to spend 30+ minutes in line
So I will get them out either today or tomorrow morning.

oh my goodness - I wouldn't have wanted to wait in that long line either. Please don't feel like there is any sort of deadline. The delivery of the cards to the kids is an on going project. My DSIL will be dropping the cards off at the hospitals about once a month.

Char - your package arrived at my DD's today.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to help brighten the lives of hospitalized children.

anyone want to adopt a dog? He has an uncontrolled drive to chase cats. Considering I have 3 (indoors only thank goodness) and my neighbor has 3- he has run 2 of them up a tree more than once this past week. It doesn't matter that they have pointy things on their feet & scratch his face- he still goes after them If a foster can't be found he is going to the shelter on Monday

I am still hoping to make another batch of cards this month. Got home from vacation Monday- woke up yesterday with a 100.7 fever. Had DH take me to doc as anything over a 99 for me is really bad. Doc said it's not strep & seems to be a sinus infection so gave me a steroid shot in the butt & a scrip for a steroid pack. The medical community is backing off giving out antibiotics for sinus infections as most of them clear up on their own especially with an anti-inflammatory. I am feeling much better today & temp is down to 98.2- just weak from fever & not eating yesterday. So I'm hoping that by this weekend I'll have my house back in order & able to be crafting again.

Char - first and foremost, PLEASE take care of yourself. Between the trouble with your knee and now the sinus infection - you've had your share of health problems. Hope you are feeling better real soon.

My DD will be happy to receive the cards whenever you get around to (feel like making a batch). With this being a year long project, there is no time/deadline pressure.

it's funny but it poured at the house, but not in town where I was- so I didn't have to deal with the rain- just the wind.

Yesterday & today are absolutely gorgeous- a little cool, but perfect for working outside & getting some good vitamin D. Muscles are sore today from gathering up all the leaves that accumulated- but it was worth it.

Char - I can totally relate to the SORE muscles. I dug holes Saturday in preparation for some planting and my arms, legs and back are KILLING me. Guess I should take it easy for a while. Hmm . . . I wonder what I can do to pass the time while I am healing??? I know --------- SCRAP - LOL.

got my new toy- Cricut Explore Air in yesterday- finally got it up & working this morning & I've been a cutting fiend. Then found this print & cut project- just print the bear image on my printer, then load it into the Cricut - it reads the markers & then cuts out the bear. Next I simply pulled out a card base, glued it on & stamped the Hello. Crazy simple & super cute- gotta find more of these

cute cute cards - need to get making more myself- right now just got back from a 4-day trip to NC for a wedding & got laundry done so I could come down & reclaim my craft room. Not to mention I went shopping with a lady from Canada I met on Pocket Letter Pals & she was in Nashville Thursday with her husband- so I took her to HL, JoAnn's & M's - found 3 Cricut carts on sale for $19- so snagged Create a Critter & Mickey & Friends- I thought they would be really good for making fun cards for the kids. So once I get cleaned up & clear the space in front of my Cricut, I'll make more

Donna - my DD Melissa received your package the other day. I am supposed to pass on a big "THANK YOU" for your time and cute cards.

We spent 4 days to go to a wedding in NC this past weekend- so have yet to play with any of the carts. It was great to get together with all our friends- first time we've ALL been in one place in many years- over 15. So it was a great visit. Wish my DS could have gone, but he's learning about the responsibilities of a job and all sometimes interfere with social things he'd like to do. When you're young, you just don't have vacation time.

Anyway- hope to get some done this weekend- may end up gardening tho as the rain held off this week & maybe the ground won't be the mud bowl its been and we can get those poor plants in the ground.

Super cute Vickie.

I worked the garden Fri-Sunday. Yesterday I ran errands. Today I'm finally in my craft room but playing clean up. Ugh
My muscles are so sore from the little tiller, raking, hoeing, squatting, kneeling, shoveling, lifting.... what a work out. I burned some serious calories during those 3 days.

I too have been enjoying working out in the garden. We are just hoping that we don't have to cut back on our water usage so much that we can't grow any veggies.
Made a few more cards for the kids this afternoon.

Ladies - thanks so much for your ongoing support.

Betty, my DD received you latest package. Hugs to you!!

I've been making more cards - I just keep forgetting to post them. I need to remember to do so. Hoping to get some more of our scrappy buddies to join in.

Hey Char, when you are finished with your craft room, how about coming to California to help out with mine? Too much "stuff" and not enough storage = a VERY VERY messy room - LOL.

Vickie
I'll make a deal with you- you come here to help me with mine & then I'll come to CA & help you with yours.

Many times I've found is my struggle with personal attachment. Taking the Totally Tiffany class (you don't have to have or get her scrap rack) has helped me sort things better. Now it's a matter of getting my scrap work area to hold all my scrap items. My Cricut & computer (and scanner) will stay where they are- but everything else will be set up around my one work station. My DH is going to build me 5 rolling carts. They will be able to slide up under either of the 2 quilting tables I have. Also- they will double as workstations- heat embossing on one, the Cuttlebug w/embossing folders on another, etc.

One of my problems is I have a sewing station & jewelry station as well- but everything has been so mixed up it's a mess rather than usable.

wow Char - it sounds like you have lots of hobbies. I barely find the time to scrapbook. How can you sew, make jewelry, scrap and take care of your Close to My Heart business???? You are one BUSY BUSY woman.

Vickie- I haven't hardly been able to do any of my crafts as I haven't been able to get near my sewing machine in quite awhile. My jewelry station has been a flat spot that is blocking that area- haven't made jewelry in 2yrs(?) now. I have been having a hard time scrapping as I couldn't find anything- nor did I have room to work.

So I now have over 3 boxes of books, 4 boxes of fabric, 5 boxes of craft supplies and craft storage items that are not clear. I decided if I cannot see IN it- then I should not use it. Out of sight out of mind. All of my fabric is now in large tubs- each fabric I kept is wrapped around a magazine keeper (8.5"x11" white cardboard) and stored on end so that when I open the tub I can see each & every fabric I have as well as be able to keep up with them & put back what I don't use. I haven't truly sewn in anything in several years. I found a skirt I was cutting out over 3 years ago- partly cut- pattern still wrapped in it. Hopefully now I can start breathing and be able to do other things soon. I'm almost done....

would you believe I am STILL going thru this craft room? I have one more big shelf to organize (as in 4'x7' shelf) and my jewelry area and I'm pretty much done. I've been wanting to stop the process & craft, but I'm afraid if I do I won't return to the task

donna - cute lil' pirate bear.

char - I envy your ability to stick to the organization plan. I get sidetracked easily even when cleaning the house. I can't imagine reorganizing my entire scrap area (although it really needs it).

I think I saw this saying on Pinterest, "I can't clean my craft room because of all the neat things I rediscover" or something along that line. I know what you mean! You'll be done before you know it though and it'll feel so good! Have a great weekend!

Vickie it's not easy & I've gotten side tracked quite a bit but I keep reminding myself how much happier I'll be when ALL my scrap stuff is together, all my sewing stuff in one place, all my jewelry stuff, etc. Intermixed all over the room just amplifies my ADD & makes it take me so long to get a page done. I'm being hopeful that this will help me crank out some pages & cards

I'm going to try and get a batch of cards mailed Monday. Making these cards has given me the opportunity to use some of my stamps I haven't used in a long time.
