No worries Sharon - been up since 7ish. Perfect morning to get some of my ufo projects finished (book 2 then 3 are priorities). Finally selected pic for page 10 and have all BGP cuts finished for book 2 so off to get things glued down. This will be a true duplicate of Book 1 other than last pages.

Norma - hope you had a wonderful holiday week and thanks again for hosting this month!

Started this morning making bff's chemo card for her last chemo in 2016. We'll see each other tomorrow watching the Rose Bowl. I was so excited to get my personalized message from Team Meem created in Design Space and written on inside. Woohoo to DD for getting me lots of pens for X-Mas!

Card and envelope are projects from Dimensional Paper Art. I was so loving it that I'm going to make it as an overlay for DS girlfriend as cover for her China trip last year.

WooHoo! Finished Book 2 using SVG file I created to cut all 12 of the BGPs. This is pic of completed 20 page album - I'll only post pages that were different for Book 2 and Book 3. Book 3 will have to wait until next weekend. I've got the BGPs and frames cut for it, but realized some of the pics to personalize the album are flawed. I have until Saturday to decide on Plan B.

Looks like everyone is ready to get back in the saddle!!
Including me.

There's not a day that goes by that I/we aren't doing something with the remodel, but it is starting to slow down- or should I say we're starting to slow down!!

So I'm hoping to get the 3 done this month.
It may be pushing it, I don't know, but I will try.

Hey all, busy working on cards so far this year, I need to put another together which will make 6 (not all Cricut work) which is more than I made all of last year!! Figures as I gave most of my stamps I would get the urge to stamp!!! NEED to quit that and get back to scrapping but I need to get pictures printed too!!!

Good the see some familiar faces and some new one......

No Linda we did not get any damage, just lots of rain thunder and lightening!! I finally went to bed just to get away from it....I knew it would be gone by morning!!

Rolbricht - I bought a fine and coarse sanding blocks at dollar store that works great. I do luv my Zutter, but hate to lug it to crops. The sanding blocks work great on embossing and TH distressing cardstock too.

Glad to see everyone survived the awful storms the past few days!

Yes to both questions Trish.... it was an impulse purchase. I am not fond of the Hampton Art ink, it bleeds too much into my paper. Next time I will use a different ink that will give me crisp lines.
I might have to re purchase new inks as I gave my sister temporary custody of my Memento ink pads to see if she can work into a new hobby!! That left me with TH distress inks.....who knew I would take up stamping again!!

Didn't you say that you just gave most of your stamps away?
Well, just pick a few new ones to play with and see if it's something you want to get into again.
The layering stamps are so awesome!
There are a bunch of those that I want.
But then again, I want everything!!

Getting acu and have an exciting announcement:

I finally found my Gypsy charger cable!!!!
At long, long last I can finally get back to utilizing all my carts! Threw it on the charger right away and gonna play a bit on my lunch break and hopefully fire up the Cricut tonight! The drought is over!

It's also over in CA because we've had rain nearly all week! The mountains are getting pounded with snow and it hurts my ski legs to miss all that fresh goodness!

Norma, your new Avi is so cute!

Happy Friday all!

Yes I did give most of my stamps away!!! Purgers regret! I did find a small box at the bottom of my closet that had some stamps in there... enough for me to make quite a few images to color the rest of the cards I make will be Cricut or die cut!!!

Making plans for cuts on the pages I want to take to crop... headed back to design space!

Norma - luv the red-nose avi!! Back later to get acu on luv!!!

Sonja - so glad you found your cable!!! I was just about ready to send you my cable, but bff is using it with my Expression.

I'm itching to reclaim my original scrap space when we bought this house, but that would mean combining he/she caves and removing carpet and more insulation since it's over the garage. However, DH has been fighting a bad cold and the Governor has declared a weather emergency, which means no driving to check out flooring options. I don't want to relocate until the room is prepped, which may take a couple months to get him committed to flooring and color. Good thing I can use IKEA software to design my room since most of my stuff is from IKEA.

Michelle - aarrgh - it's miserable when you have to be without heat.

Gigi's was kind of a disappointment as they were packing up for a two weekend retreat so the store was pretty well decimated of product! Nothing new in store it was all headed to "the hangout" at Gulf Shores. I did manage to purchase things I normally would not have gotten--- Gilders paste wax, Nuvo Jewel Drops, a couple of Memento ink pads to replace the ones I gave to my sister. I did pick up some black Gesso too just to play around with.......
All in all I did not need a lick of paper but still managed to pick up 10 sheets......I am afraid it would have been a LOT more if she had all of her stock on the racks.

I had never seen the Nuvo crystal drops before, did not even know sb.com carried it!

wow, you girls have been busy. I think I'm
going to get some great inspiration from this
thread.

Here are a couple of cards I made.
One is for my SIL, and it will go out next week.
For some reason I tend to forget her birthday
in January...most of our family's birthdays are
the last half of the year.

I had fun doing this card and it came with the
envelope instructions as well. I actually made a
few of these.

and this is a mother's day card. Last year I was a little late
getting my MIL's card done and I didn't want that to happen again, and I think she'll think this is pretty.

Hello!

I see I need to get ACU.

BUT I wanted to share, I used my Cricut yesterday! My daughter Laura asked me to make some Harry Potter ornaments for a friend of hers. I made 4 ornaments, 1 for each of the houses. My daughter loved them she asked me to make some for her, so I did and then we made more! All of these were from SVG's found on Pinterest

It's been a beautiful sunny day in Southern California, so I've been outside enjoying the fresh air (love it just after it rains!), but I've finally come inside to start working on a layout. I have a question for you all: about how long do your Cricut mats usually last? I use mine on just about every layout I make, which averages one to two a week. It feels like the mats lose their tackiness pretty quickly!

Cheryl I have found the new ones do not last as long the the old ones did. You can clean the mats with soap and water, be sure to get all the gunk off and then let dry. Sometimes this works great, other times not so much. I have also used my EK tools glue pen to get it sticky again.

Ladies-what have you tried that works?

In the past I had been known as the Queen of re sticking mats!! In fact at one time I had a dozen or more mats that I keep cleaning and re sticking!! After awhile I decided that was too much work....you can get 2 green mats per pack and only 1 blue at a higher price!! HL allows you to use their 40% off coupons on accessories so I stock up now whenever I make a run to HL with a coupon.....which isn't very often.
I threw away all the old mats and started over. Right now I have 5 mats I need to clean and re-stick. I use my mats almost daily.

HERE IS HOW I DO MINE:

I use a plastic scrubber with dawn and water to clean.

Air dry thoroughly.

If there still is not enough tack left on the mat then-

Take a solution of half water and half Aleene's Tack It Over and Over....... make SURE you add at least as much water to the solution as you do TIO&O!!!

I use a sponge brush to paint a thin film of the solution over the mat being careful not to get any on the outer rim of the mat.

If you are doing only one mat than about a tablespoon of glue to a tablespoon of water will be enough to cover a mat.

Let mat air dry.

DISCLAIMER; I have heard or read that it will null and void the warranty on your Cricut by using products to re stick mats and I can see their point as I can bet if someone gets a mat loaded with different strengths of glue it can gum up the machine..... that is why I stress a weak solution of TIO&O.

I have been using this method for years with no problems to my machine. Now another disclaimer; after re sticky my mat I have had some problems with the very thin papers sticking too well on a mat but then I have those same problems with a brand new mat.

There are other products that I have heard that people use but I could not tell you what they are or how well they work.

Norma, I noticed the same thing about the new mats but I was wondering if it was just my imagination. Glad to know I'm not crazy! Sharon, your solution sounds great but I think I would have to plan ahead to use it. Now I just run to Michael's (only 5 minutes away) and get some new mats when I need them, so I'll have to weigh cost vs. convenience.

I had been lurking in the Ugly challenge for months, this year I finally got brave enough to enter. Received my papers yesterday and here is the finished product.
Of course I had to use my Cricut for those cuts especially when you have noting to match or you need to use the ugly challenging paper provided.

Cheryl,

Cricut sells them in bulk - about $4- $6 each, but I don't know if I would use 15+ mats. However, I would not say NO if Santa dropped them off next year! I'm definitely considering getting a buddy to split the cost next time they're 50% off.

I've finally come inside to start working on a layout. I have a question for you all: about how long do your Cricut mats usually last? I use mine on just about every layout I make, which averages one to two a week. It feels like the mats lose their tackiness pretty quickly!

I have washed my mats with mild soap and water and let thoroughly air dry. That seems to get me quite a few more uses out of them. Once that doesn't work any more I have used ZIG two way glue on the mat - making sure not to get any on the edges. I always let the glue dry for at least 24 hours before using it.

I finished another page that I did for the music challenge and used my Cricut...I'm loving the arrows I found that I
saw someone had done something similar with, and
of course the doily, which is my new obsession to add to
layouts, and some butterflies out of Cricut foil.

Getting acu today!

Sharon - Glad I could inspire you to fire up your Gypsy even for a short time! Mine doesn't seem to hold the battery long now and that scares me. AAAANND I had spent time last weekend creating a title for the page I'm doing only to find out that I cannot locate my safely-stored connector cable! Rats.... foiled again!
Also, I did the Ugly Challenge for years and loved it! I just don't feel I can commit to it now with my inconsistent scrapping of late... And I miss it!

Kristie - DH and I used to work at Snow Summit before we had kids and DH got sick. We both taught on the children's staff with 8-12 year-olds for about 8 years all in. I taught skiing and DH taught snowboarding. So we'd ski at Summit. I'm also originally from Washington State and learned to ski on the local slopes there. Then we started going to Mammoth and held season passes for 4 years. All that stopped when we got pregnant though and we haven't been back since! Thankfully (in our opinion) the snow has been terrible the last five years so we haven't really missed out on anything, but this year... this year hurts! That's SO sad about your Arrowhead place though!! 2007... was that the Day Fire then, the one that started on Labor Day weekend? If so, that was also our Wedding Fire... we got married in Big Bear on Labor Day weekend 2007 and I watched that fire start from the window of our suite the day we got married.

Trish - way to come storming back on the Cricut scene!

I am nearly done with my first two-page LO, BUT I have managed to misplace my connector for the Gypsy so all the work I did creating the title piece is now moot... Grrr Guess I'll have to cut it the old fashioned way...

Completed another layout this morning. You may have noticed I don't have a lot of cartridges but I get a lot of mileage out of the few I have. Well, I broke down and bought a digital cartridge this morning because I absolutely did not have anything to go with all my Mesa Verde photos! I used it to cut the sun and jars. Pretty sure the purchase was worth it.
