Will start Sept 1st , 2017

A Round Robin Album Swap is a scrapbook album that is made by more then one person. Each participant/Robinette creates the cover of their own album and sends to the next Robinette to create one page of her album, when its done every Robinette gets their album back completed.
This Round Robin will start Sept 1st but you can start decorating the cover of your album now. It will consist of an 8x8 paper bag album. And it will work the same as above. Owner of album will alter the front and back cover. Then will mail to the next Robinette on the list, to decorate one page and add one tag. Then it is mailed to next person. When mailing you must include tracking. And there will be a 7 to 10 days per page time frame. We must be on time. ****I almost forgot I need each of you to pm me your favorite styles, theme, colors and anything else you might want in your pages. if there is something you don't like please let us know too. I will then add to 1st post for all to see. *** also your addresses....
I will include a list of address via PM to all Robinettes. I will add any other info as needed. If you have a general question please post on this thread so if I am not available any other experienced Robinette can answer it. You can go to YouTube and type Paper Bag Album to get ideas.
*I know that sometimes life gets in the way so if you need to back down from participating prior to starting on 9/1/17 please inform me asap via pm so that I can get someone else to take your place.*

Suggestion to those that have never done a PP Bag Album cover front and back cover with chipboard so that it won't bend.
I will add a link or two of tutorials.

Here is one I made for inspiration

https://youtu.be/MCnwxk-g4vg

here is one from Laura/follow the paper trail, to give you some ideas
https://youtu.be/6_fFLpt0sXU

Remember everyone has to include one tag for each album, that way all tags can be inserted in pockets.

Martica,
Love the YouTube video! Beautiful book.
I am one of the people who have not made an album before.
Question: do we assume that there should be space left for a photo on each page, or will each person let us know?
I would love to be able to put a small photo on each page or on a tag.

Donna, It is totally up to you how you want your album set up. If you want to put photo's in it, Just be sure to let everyone know the size of the photo's you're using. I too will want to add photo's to mine.

Also, I'm thinking that when we each finish our front and back cover, that'll pretty much show the color scheme we'd like in our album. We'll just need to make sure of letting everyone know the theme we want.

Laural and Donna, welcome to our group. Looking forward to getting to know both of you thru this outing.

Hey sweet girlies!!!!

Martica, thanks for getting us started!!! And hello to all you Robinettes, not to be confused with raisinettes. (I have no idea what that means either.)

I haven't made a paper bag album in so long and I've never made an 8" album...should be fun!

Need to go through my supplies.....I'm sure I need to shop

I need to go thru my closets and find the boxes that have the good stuff in. Dang I miss having my own scrap room. Those were the good ole days. Now everything is stuffed in boxes and put who knows where. Downsizing is not made for the weak of heart.

I've had my scraproom for almost 4 years.
I can't imagine not having it. But there's nothing that would stop me from scrapping.

Donna, my scrap room is now out of my bedroom closet with sofa tables as my scrap table. Everything keeps falling off the back of the table cause they're so narrow. But it keeps my area organized. Can't get too messy when things keep disappearing over the edge. But that's probably nothing compared to poor Martica. I think she's more like out of a drawer.

The only "bad" thing about a scraproom is I keep buying and buying because there's room. Lol

I found my RR from our swap. It was such fun going thru all the pages and seeing what everyone did. Now if I can find the box it's in, I can look thru it in real life again.

Hi loveeees!

Donna, never a silly question. It's my understanding that the inside covers are going to be decorated by the other Robinettes. We just do the outside of the front and back covers.

Deb, I can't believe it was five years ago either. I certainly hope my work has improved. I was looking at the pages I did in Martica's and they were so uninspiring!!!!

The hub is home and we've been lingering all day ... just got out of the shower, put some makeup on and hopefully we get into a wonderful Turkish restaurant we enjoy!!!!

It's hot today...in the 80s....... I am not a summer person, or winter either. Just somethin' in between!

Have alovely weekend dearies!

I was thinking the same thing Linnny. I feel like I should be able to do so much better but at the same time, I haven't scrapped much lately so I may have gone backwards. I'll have to put on my A game.

Debbie, it's so interesting how our scrapping styles evolve and change.
I cleaned my scraproom today and I feel so much better.

I started filling up a plastic box with all kinds of lace and embellishments that I want for my book.
I decided a few months back that I didn't have enough lace and trim. Lol. You could say I've been on a binge.

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey sweet friends!

I am drained, pooped, and thankful. It appears I passed a kidney stone last night. I thought I was getting a UTI. But it turned quickly last night. I've had kidney stones for about 3 years as they showed up on a ct scan. I have dealt with all kinds of pains, from PHN in my head all the way down to me toes. Nothing, nothing....not even giving birth, came close to the pain I had last night. First I felt nauseaous and then violently became sick. I wouldn't let Bob call 911 as I didn't want to lay in a bed in the ER waiting for a resident to okay pain meds. Going through ct scan, etc. Might have not been the wisest of choices, but I couldn't imagine even getting off my bed. Bob held me and kept massaging the area of the pain. I cried myself to sleep. Woke up a couple of hours later; the pain wasn't as strong, I kept drinking water. The pain has gone completely....I've been in the loo all day. I can only assume that it was a kidney stone and I passed it. I googled kidney stone symptoms and nausea and vomiting are symptoms....I hadn't a clue. That's my story, and I'm stickin to it!! So very thankful to be able to smile today!!!!

I need help in writing something in a card for a friend who has alzheimers and whose daughter is putting her in an assisted living facility about 1.5 hours from her friends! It's upsetting. I bought her a lovely picture frame and put a photo I had of the whole crew. I then did a bit of photo shopping and added a heart with the word "Friends" on it. But I'm drawing a blank when it comes to writing something in a card I made.

Any ideas?

Hi ladies hope all well where ever you all are. Linny sorry about the pain hopefully you won't have to go through that again . I have no idea what would be appropriate to write to your friend.
Donna it is exciting when you do something for the first time.. * I would suggest to add chiboard to the cover front and back so that it won't bend and makes it sturdy.*

Hopefully you will never have to go through that again.

Yes, Martica, I will for sure put chipboard on the front and back. I understand. Thank you.

Had a great time swimming at my sisters today. My nephews kids came over and we played duck duck goose in the water which is a little hard to do when they have to wear floaties. Between the sun and the water, I think I'm going to hit the sack soon.

Thanks Donna, I think I'll write something like you have suggested. It's so much easier to write to someone who means a great deal to you. Joyce is a friend of my friend...I'm not very close to her, but we are always at the same functions. And it is breaking my heart that she is being taken away from those who love her. She's even like a grandma figure to my dear friend, Teresa, who passed grandchildren. ( That is one long arsed run on sentence. I'm so glad we don't get graded here!!)

OK, some happy stuff. I'm working on an initial plaque for my great niece, Madelyn Rose, who is expected to arrive in a month or two. Baby shower is July 8th....so thought I would get that off my plate.

Yikes, it's 2:30....that's what happens when you take a nap during the day.

Donna, I usually just shorten her name to Jo. Hmmm never asked her if she minded. Are you okay with that Jo?

Up early and don't know what to do with myself. I usually get on the internet and do my morning thing while I have the TV going so that I can watch HGTV reruns but now that I don't have satellite any more, it's so quiet in the house. I could go back to bed to pass the time.

Good morning gals!
Donna, Teresa's daughter and grandchildren are devastated as Joyce has become part of their family. But, at the same token, there are times that Joyce doesn't recognize them. She has also had some scary episodes. They were out and Joyce locked herself in the bathroom and couldn't figure out how to open the lock. Alzheimer is such a horrible disease. My mom had dementia for many years. When it got to the point that she at times wasn't sure who I was....it was like a stab in your heart, even though your brain knows its the condition.....

Deb, I'm up early too and shouldn't be! I went to sleep when Bob got up for work, 4 am and woke up at 7:30. When I know I'm working on a project my brain will not close down and I wake up with an 'idea'. Guess I won't be sleeping much once we start

Later

2nd week of summer school. Have a great bunch of kiddos.

Linny, I have not known anyone with Alzheimers, but I hear it is just heartbreaking. I hope she will have frequent visitors. I know it's kind of far. Maybe friends can carpool.

Debbie, Jo would be easier . LOL.
I am naturally an early riser. I love the cool, quiet morning.

I've actually decided what direction I want my paperbag album to take. I've ordered several really stunning vintage women photos from Pinterest. Each lady will have a quote near her..something amazing. Kind of like a celebrate women theme. So, in my preferences, Martica, please put...."leave room for a 4 x5 photo.".

I hope everyone has a beautiful day. Be back later...
xo

Thanks again for sending the paperbag album to me, Martica! It came today. Makes me excited to get started! Waiting to see how my cover "leads me" to state my theme & preferences.

Love your suggestion about Christmas in July, Debbie! I've even done a free shipping promotion for the whole month of July just to generate some action to no avail. It's frustrating, because I can make everything I can imagine & have inventory galore, but if people aren't shopping or more importantly, buying, it doesn't do much good. And if a design is a "snoozefest", then I've wasted material & time on something that could have been something else.

How do I cover that?
Thank you in advance!

Hello everyone , Donna you can cover with chipboard and make 3 holes for rings. Let's see who else has a different idea.

Laura so nice that you enjoyed your grandson. My oldest grandson lives in Germany and I only see him every 2 or 3 years and we are able to bring him... and my other two grandsons are still babies. Enjoy him while you can they grow so very fast.

I went through a few stacks of paper today hoping to find Inspiration for my cover. [email protected]! I love all of them! Must be why I purchased them in the first place!

I'm thinking I want something different, not style---I, but maybe color-wise. Hmmm!??

Just throwing this out there...... could we send earlier, if the next person is in favor (or skip to one who is ready)? Just afraid of an late September October backlog. Opinions?

Martica, thank you.
Im thinking of covering thinner chipboard with fabric and then adhering it to the spine. I don't know. Lol
It's hard to explain without a picture.

I know what you mean, Donna. I've done that, except used paper instead of fabric. Creates kind of like a "spine".

Morning,
I found an example that Martica posted.
When I get to work, I will link it here and then ask my question about the spine. Thank you

Hmmmm, I like that idea Donna. Wrapping chipboard around the bag sounds like a plan. I'll have to see what I can do about that.

Morning breakfast consists of Peanut butter on crackers and coffee. I really need to to grocery shopping.

Never mind. Sometimes I am really dingy. LOL.
Our paper bag albums are sewn shut so it makes it easy to bind the spine. Duh,
Some of the albums on YouTube were different.
Just ignore me.

Donna you sure are up early. Aren't you on California time? That's like three hours difference than me. You must be getting ready for school.

I need to hit a couple you tube videos and see what other people do.

I do get up very early, Debbie.

I am the classic morning person. I have to have a lot of wake up time, and then I spend about 40 minutes in the scrap-room before getting in the shower.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Be back on my break.

Hey sweets!

It is so freakin hot here today! 100 degrees in NYC is a bit much, really!!!!!

My day is not going too good. I just called for a prescription of Lyrica (been on it for years now). Well, the co-pay, is.....are you ready for this

are you sure

ok, sorry, just needed to be be silly a bit since I just had a good cry.

Oh....almost forgot....$905.00 is the copay, until I get out of that da*n hole. Breaks my heart. I see my dh driving a yellow cab, dealing with all the tension of not knowing who is sitting behind you, if they will pay or jump out and run, dealing with the unbelievable traffic and poof, I spend $900 on medication; and that's only one of the ones I take. Geez.... This has put me in such a foul mood. God must have seen this all transpiring, so he's sending me company for dinner, including my sweetheart, Dean. That little one can melt my heart and just be thankful to be.

So, never doubt, He is always there.

Me again!

Need some advice on the paper bag album. Has anyone painted the edges of their album in the past. I only have one to work with and don't want to mess it up. I couldn't find any white 8 x 8 albums online either.

What you gals think?

Linny,
Thinking of you and sending big prayers.
That is very frustrating and overwhelming.
If you contact the manufacturer of Lyrica, they
Might give you a discount or a lot of samples.
My friend did it with one of her meds.

About the album. I know Im the one who knows nothing, but Ive watched 72 videos!!
A lot of people paint their cover with gesso.
Martica??

I'm clueless as to what you can pain what with. I haven't really kept up with the world of scrapping in the last five years with all that's happened in my life but it would be my guess that gesso would work. I've seen people use it all the time on paper.

Linnny, I honestly don't know how you can afford the cost of those pills. If I had $900.00 dollars, I'd get my brakes fixed, replace the glass on my front car lights so I can see at night, and probably even get a good tune up. That is just too much money for drugs that you don't buy on the streets. In fact, it would probably be cheaper on the streets.

Poured down rain today for about one hour, just long enough and strong enough to shut down power in area's around me but thankfully not mine. Now it's sunny and humid.

I know Martica has said before that she paints the edges of chipboard albums. Why don't you try painting the edges of just a paper sack. That way you could check it out for chipping or cracking & just see how it looks.

Sorry about that medicine! Go online & look for the manufacturer. Sometimes they offer a big coupon for use with your purchase. I know I've done that with Advair.

Hi ladies so sad that one has to pay that kind of money to relieve pain. What is the world coming too.

Linny I have not painted edges of paper bag albums only chipboard , but I have inked the edges of paper bag albums. It's less dry so that it won't warp the pages.

Got my little ray of sunshine tonight. Dean came over with Bob's niece and nephews. We had such a fun evening and never once thought of anything but enjoying the time we had.

As far as the meds; I was fine until my union decided to use Aetna. Fortunately NYS has a drug program; I applied and hopefully if I understand it correctly, once I meet a deductible of $2400, my co-pays will never be higher than $20!!!! Amazing! Wouldn't it have been nice if my union offered this information. I made so many phone calls and did so much outreach to drug companies. Unfortunately the NYS program doesn't count the amount you paid out from the first of the year; they count from when you applied for assistance. Believe me, I am thankful for this program as $900 is quite a chunk a chocolate that we could use on some other things....

Good idea to try painting white paint on a paper bag to see how it drys.

I wonder why it seems impossible to find 8 x 8 white paper bag albums. I've seen 6 x 6 in every color imaginable.

Date night tomorrow night....laundry! Yeah, eat your hearts out

I was thinking that chalk ink would work on the edges. Those Prima ink edgers. Or a chalk ink white marker pen.
On line discount on prescription is what I was thinking. That is way too much for one.
Think that I will look up some YouTube video to get ideas. By September I will need some craft time.

Good morning Lorna! Chalks do dry super fast, sometimes too fast but I love them! Linny glad you found a solution to med cost! I have a design for my cover in my head, we shall see if I can execute it! Sometimes It just goes where it wants to lead me when I actually start!

Laural, that's pretty much how my mind works. I sit down, choose my paper and then just go from there. I'm pretty clueless until I find what works. I'm still pretty clueless as to what theme I'm wanting to go with yet but I can say for a certainty that I don't care for primary colors, but love shabby chic and vintage.

Good morning Robinettes!

Rained like crazy earlier in the morning. I just pulled the comforter over me head and slept till 10! Felt good. I've been getting up very early and not able to fall back to sleep. Well, the sun is shining now!!

You gals are fast! I was looking through my gallery of vintage/victorian ladies and can't pick. Laura, the image you used on my tag is a favorite of mine and keeps showing up in all my collections! I was on YT and found myself drooling over Maggie White's albums. They are not paperbag but they are so over the top gorgeous. Her lace and trims and style is my favorite of artists that can do this type of work. You girls must remember Maggie. I never knew why she stopped hanging out on here. But, as usual, I digress!!!

I do know I love shabby chic, especially after the special tag Laura made for me!!!

In the past "my" colors have always been burgundy, hunter, creams and mauve. I still love that combo, but it's time for a change.

I did order two paper packs from Renea....I'm so bad when I'm in a "store". I went there to finally order some of her butterflies. I usually make my own, but they are never as pretty as her's. Well, I justified the 2 paper packs by blaming you all! That's right!!!! I figured I HAD to have some new, lovely, papers for YOUR albums. So, it's all your fault! So there!!!! I already got some pretty resins pieces for YOU!!

Laura, meant to task you, where did you find such a perfect size resin frame. The ones I have are small, and too small to be the focus of a album cover.

Yep, I woke up happy and spry and full of questions. And as I am typing I am trying to hold it together and not tell the customer service gent, from the NYS drug program, what I would like to say to him. I have now faxed over to their office, TWICE the documents they requested after they received documents I sent Registered/Certified. Now I'm being told they don't have a record of the certified letter!!!! Hello, you called me when you received it to ask that I fax over additional info. This is the first customer service rep at this agency that was simply difficult to speak with; when asked okay, tell me what you want me to do, and I will do it. He tells me to wait and maybe the fax will show up!!!! Like it's coming in via a 747 and just didn't land yet! wth I couldn't hold it together by that point, the tears started coming, and I hung up after waiting on them for over 30 minutes to check the faxes that came in at 5pm last night. Tfhe only way I was able to hold on for so long was because I was hanging with you all and writing this novela waiting for them to find my documents. So, thanks

Deep breath......would love to have a stressless day...everyone once in a while.

Hello everyone,

Linny, you are into action, and that is great. I'm wishing you the best!!

My day is going well. We cooked today in summer school and the kids loved it . We made Pizza Rolls. (Crescent rolls with pepperoni and mozzarella sticks, served with Pizza sauce.
The day is only 4 hours long so it goes fast.

Ahhh, nothing like a shower and an hour chat with your big sister to make you calm down and realize that in the big picture, my morning episode was merely a blip in my day. Sorry, for whining so.

Now, onto the important stuff in life. I have three white chalky ink pads and the one that seems to cover the best is Teresa Collins Petal Point. Thanks for the idea to use chalk inkers!!

Later

Laura, thank you for the info on the frames. I didn't realize Prima made large size ones! And thanks especially for the hugs and prayers .

Oh, I painted the sample bag with wicker white paint. It's, of course, the deepest of them all. Will see how it stands up to me crinkling it.

Donna, Dean is a fussy eater. I think he would love those pizza rolls. I love doing stuff with him! Thanks for sharing that little recipe!!

OK...off to shop

Home and resting!!
I have arthritis in my knees and right hip. I can move ok, but as a teacher, Im standing 90% of the day. When I get home, Im like the Tin Man from wizard of Oz. I can barely get out of the car!! I take 2 Alleve and that helps a lot.

Linny, that recipe couldn't be easier!! Let me know if he enjoys it.

I have a frame from Prima that I ordered last month "just because I had to have it". Now, I might use if on my album!!

I was thinking about all the mailing and my thoughts are maybe I should keep it light but with me I never know until I get into it! I Do love all their frames and resin and use it a lot! I bought a 4x6 and 5x7 last month just because they were new sizes and thought I had to add them to my stash. Did I ever say... I'm a Hoarder! Really. And I still scrap out of my small cabinet by the kitchen table. Everything I need is there other than pp. I store that out in the craft room in a tote. I tried to use the large room but everyone is crafting or something so I stay at the kitchen table by my java!

Hello Ladies,
Martica, I sent you the money for the paper bag album, thank you for getting these for us. Received mine.
I love shabby chic! Pastel pinks, lavenders, creams and whites. Love lace and pear!s. Really like metal and resins. Chiffon or satin ribbons work for me. No primary colors, please. Now, I haven't decided on a theme yet.
OK, be back later to chit chat. Hope everyone is doing well. Hugs!

Well regarding shipping we all have the same mini album right? This is a suggestion that we can vote on it . We can create on cardstock and send page to each participant verses mailing Album to each one of us. The only. Good thing about this there is no chance Album will get lost and second shipping cost will be minimal . But bad thing about this idea is that we won't be able to see what everyone's Album will look like IRL. But we all have to agree on one or the other.

After thinking about it...

I vote for sending the whole album around the country.
I think it will be easier to stay with the person's theme and preferences, and I think it's so cool that my album has made the journey.

I hope everyone has an awesome day!

Like the journey of the traveling pants. The journey of the traveling album. Rather cool to see how each one is progressing and if we are in sink we the style. We get to see others work as we are working.
I spent a little time on Pinterest last night getting ideas.
Okay, need a little rest before interview.

Question? ? One single page or is it one double page that we are creating? 10 participants if double would mean that there is 20 pages in the album. Just asking. Since I am still in SA

Morning Ladies,

Martica thanks for opening this thread and explaining what a round robin is. Unfortunately the time frame before the holidays is when life is at its most hectic for me. Now that I understand the process, I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline.

I'm so disappointed about having to do this because I would absolutely love to participate in something so fun and meaningful. If this were happening in the spring, I could probably play, just can't do it prior the holidays. I know you'll all create a cherished work of art that will be appreciated for many years to come.

Thanks again for thinking about me and extending an invite for me to play.

Dawna, sad to see you go. Okay, ladies, since Dawna dropped out, we'll need to find another person to take her place. If y'all have any ideas, start throwing out some names so Martica can invite them in.

I personally would prefer that we send the entire album. I work better if I'm actually adding it to the persons page plus I really love seeing what everyone else does. It's how I learn.

Lorna, we are only decorating one page on each album which is another reason why I prefer having the album come to us. This way we can try to match the page's as we go.

Donna, I feel your pain. I have a knee that needs a total replacement but can't get it done until I lose a bunch of weight. So in the mean time, I keep getting cortisone shots in it. The shots help but when they wear out, man do I hurt again. Right now I'm in the hurting stage but it's too soon for another shot so I keep a cane handy. It keeps me from falling on my face if it gives out on me.

Got a busy weekend coming up. Today had to pick up my daughter for the weekend. Later today gotta take my mom to get a hair cut and then out to dinner with her. Tomorrow taking my dad to the eye doctor at 7:30 in the morning, then grocery shopping afterwards. Then I work Saturday and Sunday and then later Sunday I have a wedding reception to go to, then need to drive my daughter back home again after the reception. I'm already exhausted just thinking about it all. I'm not use to doing so much each day. I'm more of a computer and TV day kinda gal.

I recommend we invite Elizabeth to join us. I don't know if she can do it, but she is an amazing crafter and a darling women. Laura knows her well also. Let me link something from her gallery.

Wow Donna, you're right. She does do beautiful work. Martica, what do you think about checking with Elizabeth?
