Hi Everyone -
We've been the target of a flood of spam posts over the past several days. It has been relentless and executed on a very large scale by hundreds, perhaps even thousands of users and bots in several countries. This very annoying for you and we are sorry. Trust us, it's annoying for us too.

We've had to make several (hopefully, non-permanent) changes to the forum today to combat the spam.

These changes include delays between creating new topics. Delays between adding new posts. And also limited the use of mark-up (links in posts, bolds, spoilers and unfortunately smilies).

We're working to restore some of this functionality and adding some safe-guards that are not so intrusive for our wonderful (real) users, but we do not have an ETA for this yet.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and annoyance.
:/

Please bear with us.

Thank you so much! I was on a board a few years ago and a dear friend was the administrator. She explained to me once the process she had to go through for each SPAM that popped up and it was a chore!

It isn't just a "delete it" process - it was a lot of work, and we had 59 pages of it.

Thank you!

So that's what's happened to the smilies! Well that's a small price to pay for blatting the spammers. I'm going to have to cast my mind back to the old ways of doing them. Hehee!

ETA: I've discovered that anything after the final character showing on this post gets deleted. So I'll say (again) at this point THANK YOU for everything you've done for the board!

;P

Thank you so very much for taking care of this issue.
I don't mind if the way it's now has to stay forever. Very small price for the clean forum we enjoy.
Thanks again.

Sounds like a plan. I'll live without the emoji's; however sadly.

We have made some changes that seem to be helping. And most of you should have gotten back emojis etc.

Thank you for your hard work, time and effort to manage this wonderful site. Having been a member such a long time, I always come here to talk scrap. It is appreciated that you keep all of the forums in addition to just the store front. Thank you so much.

Thanks! As for the emojies, I learned to use a computer back in the days of DOS -- I thank I can survive without 'em.

Thanks, mods. You guys run an awesome site, and we love your efforts to keep it clean and user friendly. I don't mind a little inconvenience at all when it's for a good cause. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Good luck with the bots, trolls, and spammers. We're in your corner!
