I don't plan that far ahead for dinner Pat!!
It usually consists of what is in the freezer and refrigerator. The refrigerator is getting a bit low on options!!

AND...
Now that I'm back into my Project Life Groove... I have scrapped ALL my scrappable photos for Week 4

I still need to photograph and share the Pocket Page parts of the weekly spread ...but it's done so I feel quite accomplished!
I just need to catch up w/ Weeks 5 and 6 and I'm golden!

Linda -
In regards to your comment on my "Nap Pals" layout...
I prefer my couch too...
BUT we don't allow Spotty on it...

We allow Hamlet on it, cuz Pigs are clean, but he can't seem to get his big self up on it, so that's why I spend a lot of time w/ him on the floor.

Panini is allowed cuz, well...cats can do anything they f**king want!

(FYI - I censored myself, not SB.com)

Beef broccoli sounds delicious!

I was PLANNING on going to the grocery store, but hubby called me around 4 o'clock and said, "let's take your mom out to dinner," so that's what we did. We ate at a really good fish place not too far from her house. I had some chipotle shrimp tacos that were EXCEPTIONALLY spicy this evening. My mouth is still a little raw from the experience.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ DAILY CHALLENGE ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

FEBRUARY 13

It's MARDI GRAS!

New Orleans is probably the best known Mardi Gras festival in the United States, although Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is celebrated world-wide.

Pre-Lenten Mardi Gras balls and parties were held in New Orleans as early as the mid-1700s, but the first documented parade in the city did not occur until 1837. This first parade more resembled a procession of revelers in costume than it did the large organized parades of today. This year, 70 to 75 parades will roll in the greater New Orleans area.

In the early days of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, participants wore masks to escape social constraints and allow themselves to be free to mingle with whomever they chose. Many krewes wore masks to keep their identities secret. Today, any person who rides on a float during a Mardi Gras parade, other than celebrities or krewe royalty, is required by law to disguise his or her face. Some krewes wear masks while others choose to paint their faces.

Beads were thrown from floats since the very first parades rolled down the streets of New Orleans. These first beads were made of glass, but krewes began throwing plastic beads in the mid twentieth century. Doubloons were first thrown by the Krewe of Rex in 1960. These coins featured the krewe’s founding date, emblem and name on one side, and the current year and theme of the parade on the other side. The doubloons were so popular that each krewe created its own. In addition to beads and doubloons, float riders today throw a variety of trinkets, including plastic cups and stuffed animals.

The official colors of New Orleans Mardi Gras are purple, green, and gold. The Krewe of Rex chose these colors in 1872 in part to honor the Russian Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich Romanov, who visited New Orleans during that year’s carnival season. The krewe asked the people of New Orleans to display the colors, which represent justice (purple), faith (green), and power (gold), on Mardi Gras Day.

~ Use the traditional Mardi Gras colors of green, purple, and gold on your project today.

~ Have fun~

These are like a Pocket Letter, they're a single project in terms of overall size, but the rest of it is totaled as individual projects ...

The way we point those is to measure the overall total size of the entire project and take those points one time, then point each card individually and total those points up.

NORMALLY, the way you would do it would be to lay them out in a rough rectangle and measure how much space they take and then use that as your "size" determination ... Since this is a first time for you, what we'll do is count them based on how many total sheets of paper you used to create them.

If you used 2 12" papers, that's 20. If you used 3, that's 30. Make sense?

And yes, you can count every single sticker!

Hence, the name of the challenge - ANYthing goes!

Theoretically, and I didn't finish checking your whole list, but these would also be considered a "swap" item, since he's giving one and receiving one. That'd be in the technique points, I believe.

I am going through my paper stacks and destashifying a second round this week - which is good news for YOU guys. As I was clearing, sorting, and separating, I ran across a set of Paper Loft "Morning Rain" that I had used several years ago in a class that I taught for my LSS. I put those aside - they're not really my style and I figured that I'd send them on to bless someone else. There were only three of them, and ... well,

Kharma is funny. When I set them aside, I turned them over, and the bottom one, which became the top one, had an umbrella pattern on it.

So, sorry to anyone who got excited for a minute about Paper Loft's Morning Rain collection because I'm going to be using those I'm afraid.

But there's more. There is SO much more stuff coming off my shelves and out of my drawers. At least two more months worth of stuff, I think.

This challenge is doing my head in: it's got so many "moving parts" that I can't keep track of them all. Anyway, I did a layout for the week 4 sketch yesterday, using some bits & pieces from my stash & papers from my kit. Then my dog tried to eat it. Everyone's a critic.

I'm grateful to this challenge for a "light bulb moment," however. I'm not doing the photography challenge because it just dawned on me that I don't enjoy photography much. I only do it so I can scrapbook! ;-)

Sharon - they ended up with a full house (yea for my LSS) and I love they set it up classroom style, 1 person per table facing instructor who had a big screen tv behind her and using it as a "camera screen" to show what she was doing. She also had handouts. I was there when they started, but like I said, it was for true beginners. She's covering the real goodies next month. I'm first one to sign up (cuz the others were in class). I'll definitely share and we'll be doing those awesome intricate 3-d cards that I've seen done with the Silhouette. It's only a few weeks away and I can't wait. Another good thing for LSS is that I didn't recognize anyone in the class (lots of new customers!)

I try really hard to keep everything on the front page updated. So far, I've done ok, so if you ever get lost, you can usually check there and get found.

You're right - lots of moving parts. I find it easier to just focus on ONE part of it... for me, the weekly challenges are plenty to keep me busy. And I usually try to incorporate them into my project 52, so I get a two-for-one with those.

When I get ready to do the daily ones, I usually put them on a card. That helps me keep them separate in my head.

And the photos -- well, those only happen when I happen to think about it. But having the monthly list is a whole lot less stressful than having to come up with five new prompts each week. This is a one and done and then you can play whatever of THAT you want.

But honestly, Pilgrim, just do that stuff that appeals and learn a little as you go and eventually, you'll figure out what parts of the game appeal to YOU. But there's almost always a prompt if you find yourself stuck and looking for some inspiration to get you started...

So see? There you go!

I photograph in fits and starts. Some months I seem to take my camera with me everywhere. Others, I can barely remember to pull it out.

I think it's a habit like anything else. You get used to taking photos and it's easier to take them. At least that seems to be true for me.

I am struggling more with the 52 week portion as I no longer get my photos printed each week like I use to. Now it is when I run out of interesting pictures to scrap but with 10,000 pictures that need scrapping.........well when do you run out????
I am very interested in the weekly although I realized the first time I tried that (2015) I found it challenging just to get pictures every week.....only lasted 26 week. Still, I am hopeful!!

Daily pictures, well not so hopeful!

On the subject of taking photographs - is seems like all the good shots I want to take are;
setup images that don't last long - ie: blue angels practicing overhead - then they are gone
happen while I am driving with no place to pull off
I am the only driver in my daily routine

I will just stick to what I enjoy doing the most and the rest will happen............or not.

Maybe the way to think of them is ... well, like they used to be what, four or five a week to focus on and they came out each week. Rather than think of them as the "daily photos" maybe we should just rename the list as "February's Photo Inspiration." That might take some of the pressure of thinking of them as a daily ....

I agree that the sustaining effort is mentally wiping. Which is why I keep emphasizing for you guys to do what parts inspire you. It's no fun if we're all just wiped out from all of it. DO NOT DO IT ALL. Period. There is TOO MUCH of it. Do one little piece of one little thing and consider it a heroic effort! Honestly.

it's just so important NOT to lose sight of the thing that brought you here in the first place - a desire for some creative inspiration to help get you going on archiving your photographs. That's all this thing is. A little inspiration.

If one of the challenges doesn't inspire you ... SKIP it. Nobody is keeping score - well, you're keeping score when you point your page, but THAT'S just for inspiration to create a more stunning, more creative page to feature your PHOTOGRAPHS.

It's not about the challenges. It's not. The challenges are fun, but they're not the point. I know you know this, but it never hurts any of us to be reminded of it from time to time. :-)

Hi all. Well Valentine's Day is almost a blip on the past calendar here. Hope you guys have a great one. I am about to load a card I made for a guy at work that wanted a card for his wife. BBL with that.

Pat I just wanted to say - THANK YOU!!!!!! - my January stash arrived and I am thrilled. It must be kharma or something - the reinforcement ring punch - I have been seeing these on projects lately and I wanted to include some and you have solved my problem! Love love love the ephemera and the thickers! You are a treasure! Watch out for them on future projects.

AS to the challenges - all fun and inspiration - the more the merrier. My 52 project is behind and I now have a list on my phone that I have recorded the event for the week so I can catch up sometime! Probably next set of holidays - and that folks is in 8 weeks time!!!!!!

Okay I am only going to share this - I can't even imagine pointing it up - it was a marathon project. There are lots of photos linked to this main one in my gallery. It was for the loaded tag swap here at sb.com. I selected the shabby category. I hope it was shabby enough for my secret partner.

Don't worry, I don't stress out over my scrapping or picture taking....the only thing I stress over is lack of mojo or too much mojo that my scrapping keeps me from other things I need to be doing.

Photo for today: #15 RED! Not my usual color, but bright red for Valentine's Day, and perhaps just slightly influenced by the prompt. Please note that my feet are not really dirty like they seem in this photo! Fat, yes, dirty, NO!

Yesterday was my day to go to my mom's house for scrapping. I didn't get a lot of scrapping done, but I still had a productive day. I might have gotten more done, but it was a very warm day and mom did not have the air conditioning on most of the day. Nothing like Kathy's 110, but it was 86 in the house and muuuuuuuuuuggy! What happened to winter? I think my turning into a drippy puddle scared my mojo into hiding!

I'm running out of product and mojo. I still have some untouched items in my kit but I'm not feeling any love for mixed media right now. Gotta be in the right mood to make a mess, I guess. That'll teach me to tidy this place up -- I'm a lot less worried about making a "mousse mess" if the place is a tip to begin with.

I managed to finish my Feb 2017-Feb 2018 album doing the sketches in this month's challenge though, so I'm chalking that up as a win for myself. It's pure accident that I start & finish albums in February but it has been going on for so long that I'm prepared to call it a "tradition."

I've also fired up my Silhouette a few times lately, which is a big deal. I love it, it's easy to use, it's right here on my desk, but . . . Frankly, I've no idea why I don't use it more often.: getting back into using it is also a win for me.

Next month will be busy because Easter's early & I have a whack of cards to make, so perhaps I'll focus more on the technique side of things. I'll Just cherry-pick a few from the points list and see what happens.

I also have a plan to stay organized with the challenges: it's called a "Planner." ;-) I've had a really posh one for a while and haven't used it, so here's my chance. Two birds with one stone & all that.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ DAILY CHALLENGE ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

FEBRUARY 15

It's WORLD HIPPO DAY!

Seriously. It's a thing.

Bet you didn’t know that Hippo loosely translates to River Horse in ancient Greek. Hippo Day, then, celebrates the third largest mammal on Earth. Why not take some time to waddle in a mud bath, get angry with some tourists, and yawn a lot whilst opening your mouth really-really widely?

~ Use an animal print on your project today. Bonus 25 points if it's a wild animal print.

~ Have fun~

I love hippos! They are my absolute favourite! I'm serious. I have stuffed hippos sitting on my desk at work and I have an awesome photo of a hippo I took on my last visit to the zoo! I have a 7 x5 of it to scrap. Perfect for this challenge I think! I will travel to Africa one day and photograph one in the wild. That is my ultimate dream!

So I spent the entire day doing stupid stuff.

Helped the farrier trim the horses -- The girls are good to just stand tied, but he wants me out there to hold them so he has somebody to talk to, and talk to and talk to .... and my ears just get so tired.

Then I took the dog to the groomer, and dropped him off and dealt with his anxiety about "you're going to leave me here forever I just know that this is the last time I'm ever going to see you don't leave me please!"

Then I went to a dental appointment and sat in the chair while he reworked a crown that has been driving me crazy. I love my dentist, but the chair and the clamps and the work -- it just makes my mouth sore for the rest of the day.

Then I went to the grocery store, and while I was there, I got four boxes of 2.5 gallon bags so that I could get all my scrapbooking papers that I have paired up into bags so they don't wander away from each other. It ended up that I had a lot less paper than I thought because I have two of those ziplock boxes left unopened. And at this point, the only thing I have left to sort and pair and bag is the holiday papers ...

I'm pretty happy, because I feel like my paper stacks are FINALLY to the manageable stage. Let's don't talk about the fact that I have 50 mix&match paper sets bagged up, as well as 24 complete paper pads from Graphic 45, BoBunny, Prima, and Authentique. Then there's 7 complete pads of script and background type sorts of paper from Prima, 7gypsies, and TimHoltz. And there's a whole cube full of cardstock separated by color.

But the holiday papers - as soon as that cube is done, I will BE done, and it should STAY done!

But man am I TIRED of looking at PAPER.

I'm going to go fix dinner and then probably take a nap ... I don't know if I will get back here before late late, so if I don't, then I'll post the daily challenge first thing in the morning. But the more likely thing is that I'll wake up from my nap around 10p, then come sit and play here for a bit.

See you after a while. Stay out of trouble!

Here's daily pics 7 and 2 - DH is always excited when the furbabies come. Ms Penny was depressed after 2 weeks at "Camp Blalo" (our house) so DD came by yesterday to bring her by for a couple days. Her smile says it all. Today she was trying to find a spot where she could sunbathe. 50 points

Kathy - Your men's figure skater was fabulous last night! LUVED his artistic flow with his music.

DH decided we need to start on taxes this weekend, so let's see how much scrap time is left over for me. We'll have to carefully go through itemizing and get all the medical deductions this year - since this goes away.

Morning, everybody. Today I must do some house keeping. My floors need a vacuuming and mopping, and I should probably see about using a dust rag over the tops of the shelves and picture frames.

The sheets are due to be washed as well, so I guess the sooner I get all that done, the sooner I can sit down and play.

:: I hate work. I love play. Why can work not be more like play?

I'm getting ready to update the weekly challenge layouts to the front page, but wanted to tell you that I'm working up an idea for the NEXT one ...

Sneak hint ... it's Texas Cowboy Poetry Week. Wonder what we could do with THAT?

Finally got this done for Dailies 1 and 2! I struggled trying to make it work as a companion page from last year.

Pat, from your raks-red cardinal, tag, pink button, green frond, rub on, title alphies, white button with ribbon.

Have I “TOWELED” you how awesome you are?

(40 for for patterned papers used (NOT SURE ABOUT THIS… does each different pp count even though it is scraps?
Yep. Every different pattern counts as a "pattern."

+5 or +40 if it counts as SWAP item…
+5 for the Swap Technique ... not for each individual swap.

Oh my my Pat - Now I'm gonna have to get ANOTHER new JN doll stamp! And to think there is Annie, Becky and Cassie. I guess I'll have to see the fine points of the challenge so that I have the right stamp. So glad stamps are tools and can be used with any kit!!!

Somehow I missed seeing this. I'm so glad to know that it GOT there! I forget what I put in the box as soon as the box gets taped up, so thanks for reminding me -- you got the little black and white ATC card parts, right? I know you're big into the pocket letter thingie, and those seemed like they might be just the thing for you!

Can't wait to see what ends up on your projects!

It's really fun seeing how great stuff from MY stash worked out with YOUR stash and created something pretty! I wanted to use that white vintage button in the worst way and NEVER had a way to fit it onto anything. It looks GREAT with your project!

Pat I received my stuff too and love it all Thanks !
Well mom just reminded me that my aunt's 80th birthday is next Saturday and Mom asked if I would make a small scrapbook for her I found a 8x8 empty scrapbook now to look for pictures I only have older ones my Mom is going to look too . So that's what I will be scrapping this week . I have to design a card for church card ministry and get my round robin done this weekend . It has been raining here for weeks it seems like raining again today so good day to stay in and scrap.
