Ok. I'm giving everyone a heads up. I have a full next couple of days. I'm getting ready to go out and get my hair cut (I had to reschedule because of the weather, which is FINALLY starting to thaw). Then I need to run to the grocery store - which will be an all afternoon trip.

Tomorrow, I'm scheduled to judge a horse show. I haven't heard word that it's been cancelled, so I suspect they're just moving it all to the indoor arena. Since the indoor is normally used for warming up, that means that we'll have to warm up before every section of classes - every time the bar gets raised, everyone gets a warm up jumping round at that height. That's going to add at least 15 minutes to each section and at least four to five hours to an already full schedule. I'll be beat to a pulp by the time I get home.

I WILL get the Weekly challenge posted before I go to bed tonight, but I won't be around to answer questions about it tomorrow....which will be a pain for you, maybe. But I'm hoping that it'll be simple enough that you won't need to have a lot of things clarified.

I'm an idiot.

I've been thinking all day that today was SATURDAY. And I knew, somehow that it WASN'T because I'm judging a HORSE show on SATURDAY. But somehow, I thought that I had to get the weekly challenge posted TONIGHT .... which I don't. I have to post it TOMORROW night.... which I will.
It's ready to go. It'll be fun and pretty easy. We're going to play a short week TicTacToe, with a topic and a twist to it.

So I'm off to bed. 5am comes super early around here. But before I go ... here's a little thing to boost your spirits.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ DAILY CHALLENGE ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

FEBRUARY 24

It's FINALLY SATURDAY!

And I know that you've had a LOT of challenges thrown at you this month, and I'm SO super impressed with how well you have all focused on them and worked your hindquarters off to get them completed. I think that what you need to have is a day to focus on FINISHING your WEEK 4 Weekly Challenge, so that's what today is all about.

~ Use today to get your Weekly Challenge mopped up and posted. If you've already finished that, then you get free 25 points!

~ Have fun~

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ WEEKLY CHALLENGE ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

1. WEEKS WILL RUN SUNDAY TO SATURDAY.
2. WEEKLY CHALLENGES WILL BE WORTH 200 POINTS

WEEK 5: February 25 - 28
A Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

February appears to be a month that encourages us to focus on the non-humans who share our lives and our world. Just taking a look at the list of February monthly awareness issues, we can find the following :

Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month
Dog Training Education Month
Feline Fix by Five Month
International Hoof Care Month
National Bird Feeding Month
National Pet Dental Health Month
National Prevent A Litter Month
Responsible Pet Owners Month
Spay/Neuter Awareness Month

It’s quite a list, and it’s definitely worth pursuing in a weekly challenge for February.

Here's how we're going to apply it to our WEEKLY CHALLENGE.

TOPIC ~ Animal Related
STRUCTURE ~ Sketch Selection Instructions
~ Go to the Scrapbook dot com GALLERY
~ Select Sketches
~ Select Favorite
~ On the far right - change the pull down tab from “recent” to “all time.”
~ Choose a sketch from the first three pages
TECHNIQUE ~ Tic Tac Toe Board
~ Complete one line for 200 points
~ Complete a second line in a different direction for a bonus 100 points
~ Finish a black out for an additional 100 points

~ Have fun ~

Pat, I am getting ready to count another two pages and had a question. The other side of that pocket page uses some of the same papers that show thru... I would assume that those would count one time as it is the same die cut and paper (card stock) that shows, correct? The one is a card that had different printing on the other side and would be like a double sided paper.....

I'm not QUITE sure I understand the question, but basically, if it is a paper that shows on your project, you can count it. But if it's the same paper or pattern as another paper on the same project, you can't double point it.

Does that answer it?

I did not count it but thats OK as I am not clear either......

The green paper bg, one of which I die cut, in the pocket page is the same piece of paper in both sides of the pocket page with different embellishments on each side. Since it was the same piece of paper I did not count it on the second side that showed, I just counted the different elements???

I know Pat is gone... but I need HELP!

doilies... is this something that I would have had to already had in my kit? or can I cut something from my cricut? I have some designs on my accent essentials kit that LOOK like the doilies on my grandmothers couch...

embossing... do I need an embossing tool for this... I have only done it once... at a scrapbook store with the owner loaning me tools and guiding me!

If you die cut the doily you can count it as a doily OR die cut but not both. so you can cut it with your Cricut AND count it as a doily BUT you can not then count it as a die cut too.

I have not looked at the weekly but I assume it is coming from there that you need a doily!!

Embossing is wet (ink sprinkled with embossing power then heated ) or dry using a tool or embossing folder. Do you have a stylist with your Cricut? You can use that to create an embossed flower or some other design. I have done it before....

You could use the cricut to create and doily AND another die cut!! That would work.....

Hi, I was wondering if this would be running in March I would love to give it a try but very very new to scrapbooking ( but been buying stuff for years, that really has to be used!) so maybe this is a lot to begin with?? If not, when you make your kit do you follow counterfeit kit challenge or make your own kit up.
Thanks for all your advice in advance

Tracey welcome...... coma on aboard with us next month. Even if you are a motivational player only the first till you get the hang of it. Even if you want to play for points right off the bat, there are lots of ways to win!

You "build" your own counterfeit kit BEFORE we know what the weekly challenges with be for this site.
If I remember correctly Doreena is part the another counterfeit kit challenge (maybe on another site?) and builds her kit from that counterfeit kit then the challenge is to make it fit ours too with you have chosen!!

so you only use your 'kit' for the weekly challenges, or do you use it for all the other bits and bobs through out the month?

Hi Tracey! This is a very complicated-sounding challenge, BUT unlike parents at a smorgasbord, no one here will get upset with you if you pick and choose only your favorite parts! We all do it. You will not find more inspiration to get you using your stash anywhere. It really is a lot of fun, with fun people. Pat will have the March thread up in a few days, but you're welcome to follow along this month to get a feel for the challenges and to see what questions you may have.

Oh you can use your counterfeit kit for other bits and layouts....the main criteria is to use ONLY the counterfeit kit when doing a weekly challenge!!

Sharon is correct!
I had a lot of trouble coming up w/ my own kits w/out more of a structure/example to follow ... until I started participating in this blog challenge also:
http://counterfeitkitchal lenge.blogspot.com/2018/02/feb...

Maybe it will work for you...
You don't have to participate in the blog's challenges but maybe it will help you w/ putting your kit together!

Yes, Tracey...what Lyn said!
I cannot keep up w/ ALL aspects of this challenge so I just do what I can and it motivates me just fine!
Also I don't do points as I have OCD and the points were making me obsessive and taking all the fun out of it (for me personally) so yes, join us and play however it motivates you.
If it makes you feel better...I'll let you in on a little secret ...I'm almost ALWAYS late w/ the challenges that have due dates...but it's okay because I don't play for points so I'm not taking anything away from anybody else...know what I mean? But the motivation to scrap and sometimes to scrap outside of my comfort zone is there!

I was fun, it was fun, I'd do it again. I'd do it again! (And if you know the song those lyrics are from, it'll be stuck in your head for days ;-)

I already have my kit ready for March: it's a total cheat though. I made it this time last year and it's way too big, so I just put it away when I got fed up with it. I like it but there's definitely too much of it and it's not suitable for winter time LOs.

However, and this is a big caveat, the truly amazing Marci is shutting down her long-running ATC swap after the March one, so I'm signing up for all 4 categories. In other words, March scrapbooking won't start for me until those suckers are on their way to New Jersey.

I'll be back in a couple of weeks.

Tuesdays are scrap with Mom days, and I've been on a roll ever since. Of course, it is a very slow roll as I am the slowest scrapper!

Finally after 20 minutes it uploaded!! Here's my weekly and dailies 5, 6, 15, 18, 19, and 24. I wanted to use some of my duck feathers from the lake, so I joined the printed ones with mine and colored some of the whites by putting ink on my craft mat and wiping them through the ink. Of course the first one I tried to blow dry - NOT a good idea.

I used languageisavirus.com to create idea for my haiku-the 3 labels at bottom. Of course after I posted I realized labels 1 and 2 were in wrong order. That has been fixed.

~ Have fun~

I'm not far behind you Pat - I was struggling with ALL the elements for this weekly and then I realized OOPS - I had combined week 3 and 4

Okay... I am bound and determined to do the blackout on the bingo card for the week... I am stumbling because of the embossing... I have an embossing stick (?) similar to the one in the linkbelow not even sure it is called that. I don't have anything else... Can this still be done? I have ALL KINDS of stencils... no embossing folder or the like... advice would be great!

You can emboss with this and stencils on cardstock. I used to do this before I got my cuttlebug.

Morning everyone. I'm going to play some catch up on the chat, answer as many questions as I find, and then do the daily update.

Stick tight. :-)

~ SHARON ~
Pictures might help explain......The green paper bg, one of which I die cut, in the pocket page is the same piece of paper in both sides of the pocket page with different embellishments on each side. Since it was the same piece of paper I did not count it on the second side that showed, I just counted the different elements???

That looks like two different page projects to me, so you can count the green paper for both of them. When you USE a paper or pattern, it does not necessarily have to be an unused fresh sheet in order to count it. A scrap is still a paper. The only requirement is that it be "unique." So you can't pull four scraps of the same pattern out of your leftovers box and call that four papers. But you can count them as ONE ... I guess basically that what you can think of as "papers used" is really "PATTERNS used." And if any of those patterns are also scraps, you can count each of those as a single point as well. Does that help?

~ DEANNA ~
doilies... is this something that I would have had to already had in my kit? or can I cut something from my cricut? I have some designs on my accent essentials kit that LOOK like the doilies on my grandmothers couch...

embossing... do I need an embossing tool for this... I have only done it once... at a scrapbook store with the owner loaning me tools and guiding me!

You can either use an actual doily (which you would have needed to pack in your kit, and seeing as you have BOYS and packed a birthday kit for a birthday for one of them you might not have one of) OR you can use your cricut to cut a doily. But if you do that, you have to count it as either a die cut OR a doily. You can't double point it. :-)

Embossing ... usually when we see that, we think of heat embossed, but it does not have to be. Embossing just means "raised pattern" so you can use a stencil and a template to create an embossed look. You can create an embossing plate to run through a cuttlebug or big shot ... Or if you don't HAVE a big shot / cuttlebug, you can even use a hammer.

Check out these links and see if anything there looks like something you might want to explore - which you could ALSO point as "new technique". ;-)

Homemade Embossing Plates and Folders

~ TRACEY ~
Hi, I was wondering if this would be running in March I would love to give it a try but very very new to scrapbooking ( but been buying stuff for years, that really has to be used!) so maybe this is a lot to begin with?? If not, when you make your kit do you follow counterfeit kit challenge or make your own kit up.
Thanks for all your advice in advance

...so you only use your 'kit' for the weekly challenges, or do you use it for all the other bits and bobs through out the month?

TRACEY! Welcome! I'm sure everybody else has already said hello and I'm late to the party, but I want to add my happy welcome as well. Yes, we'll be running this in March, and the first few days will be devoted to getting kits put together and posted for the month. The kits idea is still relatively new to this challenge - I think we started it back in November - but those of us who have been playing for a while have already kind of turned our minds that direction. You don't have to WAIT to get your kit put together.

There's an entire post on the front page devoted to the Q&A of the counterfeit kits. But here is the basic run down of this challenge.

#1. You cannot do it all, it is too much. The idea here is to find inspiration for whatever kinds of projects you want to do, and then get rewarded with points (if you're motivated by that sort of thing) for doing them. If you don't care about points, then you can still play as a motivational player and be rewarded by the feeling you get from a well finished project!

#2. The challenge is basically layered into tiers ...
~ Daily Challenges (a sort of mini-challenge for a particular day, using only one specific idea or element)
~ Daily Photos (which is really just to inspire you to get out and use your camera and help you become more aware of photo opportunities that you might otherwise miss)
~ Weekly Challenges (one a week, and if you play this FOR POINTS you need to have a counterfeit kit created from your stash of things you want to "use up". If you're just playing motivational you can use whatever you want, but our motivational players really do TRY to stick to their kits because it's a fun way to play and force you to think creatively)
~ Project 52 (another one a week, specifically for each week of 2018. Photos must be from a single, previously undocumented week of 2018)
~ Monthly (this is usually an organizational or personal goal challenge, designed to help us get our scrapping lives under control)
Each of these is explained in detail on the first page of this challenge, but honestly, the BEST way to start getting it figured out is to just join us and play. The players here are all very nurturing, and we love having someone new join us! Pilgrim and Deanna are both new this month, and I think that it's been a fun and rewarding challenge for both of THEM, but you'd have to ask them. ;-)

The counterfeit kits are created specifically with the WEEKLY challenges in mind, but you aren't limited to using it ONLY on the weekly challenges. Some of us have begun trying to create a kit that allows us to get more projects done with it because we've figured out we can GET more done with the kit is already put together and just sitting there already to go. But it's really easier to start out with the idea that you have to get four projects from your kit rather than an entire month's worth. But, in short, ANYthing in your kit can be used on ANY project you want to put it on. But if it's a WEEKLY challenge, anything you put on it HAS to come from your kit.

~ KATHY ~
... Finally the weekly challenge that matches my kit perfectly! LOL! Hmmmm now I need the animal picture part........
Love the messy afternoon!

It had to happen eventually, right? ;-) And my afternoon was messy as well, just not the same kind of messy. I'm still cleaning mud off my boots and out of my ears and hair and eyelashes. But I definitely have the ANIMAL part of the weekly project covered. LOL

~ PILGRIM ~
It was fun, it was fun, I'd do it again. I'd do it again! (And if you know the song those lyrics are from, it'll be stuck in your head for days ;-)I already have my kit ready for March: it's a total cheat though. I made it this time last year and it's way too big, so I just put it away when I got fed up with it. I like it but there's definitely too much of it and it's not suitable for winter time LOs.However, and this is a big caveat, the truly amazing Marci is shutting down her long-running ATC swap after the March one, so I'm signing up for all 4 categories. In other words, March scrapbooking won't start for me until those suckers are on their way to New Jersey. I'll be back in a couple of weeks.

First - I'm so sorry to hear about Marci shutting down the ATC swap. I only played that for a couple of rounds before I figured out that the canvas was just too small for me, but gosh it was fun! I know that hosting something like that is a big "take on" because of all the coordinating portions to it ... but maybe someone else will take up the ball and run with it.

And I'm so happy to know you had a good time and want to continue playing with us! And you may THINK your kit is a total cheat, but it's not. LOTS of us pull one together beforehand. Granted, not a YEAR before hand, but that's just a matter of semantics. LOL

I'm not sure I know the tune you referenced, but it sounds like that's probably just as well.... ;-)

~ KATHY ~
Help what do people class as bling?

ANYTHING that shimmers -- gems, stickles, sequins, shiny metal bits, glitter paper, shimmer mists. If it sparkles, shimmers, or shines - it's bling. ;-)

Ok. I think that's got it! Be right back with the daily~

Soooooo.... I am exploring this embossing thing and without the right tools I am kind of falling on my face. I did however find some jillibean soup core impression embossed patterns paper. I haven't used my "extra" item on my LOs... so would that be an option... using an already embossed paper? I also have some feelers out to my local friends to see if I could borrow a cuttlebug or something that I could use my kit paper for. I also currently have some stamps clamped together with my husbands press to see if I can get any effects there! LOL... I WILL GET THIS SOME HOW

In related news... I really want the right tools for this... I may need to add something to my wish list...

Yep - that's definitely an option. Embossed is embossed, whether you did it or it was already done. Clever interpretation!

I will say that ... this may be my first AGC rodeo... but I am already thinking about my next kit. I have done a lot of cricut cutting with my last two LO... so I am going to be sure to include a bit more white and black for shadowing my cuts... I have REALLY been stretching the scraps I included and even used some of the 8 x 8 and 4 x 6 papers... I am now realizing over doing on my kit wasn't such a bad idea.

My biggest thing to remember... include green for next month! LOL

I always plan for the number of weekly challenges and then add enough for two more - just in case the specs don't line up with the papers that I planned to use. I end up having quite a bit left over, but I try then to recycle that stuff in my next kit (at least until I'm sick of looking at it, and at that point, one of YOU guys is going to get it to play with). But yeah, a tiny bit of over planning isn't really a bad idea. And I always include black, kraft cardstock, a couple of manila file folders, and some raw chipboard -- because you just never KNOW when you might need that stuff!

OKay... I am so sorry for hogging up the forum with my chatter... but this challenge has pushed me in a good way!

Okay... handmade embellishment... can that be a layered tag cut from my cricut that I added a ribbon to? Or perhaps just a layered die cut. If it does count I know I can't count it as a handmade embellishment AND diecut... but I think I have that covered!

I am so glad you mentioned stickles as BLING... because I couldn't decided on my third bling! THANKS!

Also ... I am going to admit that I ended up googling the "definition" of doily to be sure my cricut cut would work... that was VERY beneficial!

Ok. I gotta get off here for a bit. That Weekly Challenge is NOT going to create itself, as much as I wish that it might ...

I'm going to need some real time to sort out just what to do and how to do it. Because I have enough time to do ONE project and I have to get the Weekly AND my Project 52 out of that one project, ergo - the muddy horse show photos - and I do NOT have the right stuff to pull this off for the photos that I have. Nowhere even near it.

My goal once this weekly is finished is to pull off a Project 52 LO... it might be the one that was technically due yesterday... but I am okay with that... in my head I have to count weeks Monday - Sunday (weekends with my kiddos I like to keep pictures together) so I will probably never get the "on time" points for those... but I really want to get this started before the third month of the year starts!

I have faith in you Pat with your creative mind you can do anything!!!

I'm afraid my next months are not going to be as productive, I have 6 bed scarves (those narrow strips of fabric that go across the end of a bed to put your feet/shoe on ) to make before April 1st. They are matching some pictures I am giving my sister and she will be back thru this way the first of April. I put them off long enough.

I'm procrastinating. I am. I know that once I get GOING on my weekly challenge project it will probably be ok, but the struggle of getting GOING is pretty overwhelming ... I have plenty of pink. I have a bit of red. I don't have a combination of anything that will work on a full line that I can tell, and I can forget black out anything. I'm sort of beaten down before I even begin, because I also realized that I've put off my ABC challenge ... nothing ever fit for it this month, and so I'm back against the wall with IT as well, and I've got to either incorporate FEATHERS or FLIRT with my muddy horse show pictures. ::

There's no "time points" for the Project 52. You can set your week however YOU need to set it. I just set it on Sunday because that's sort of how my week starts - Sundays are really MY scrap it up days, but there's no rule anywhere that says you have to set yours the same way. I think the thing that matters with Project 52 is that once you SET your week, you maintain it. So if you're running Mondays to Sundays, then keep it set there for the duration of this cycle of Project 52.

Secondly - to get the project 52 points, it just has to be photos from the week that you're counting. So there will be SOME weeks where they overlap, but as long as the project is for that week, there's wiggle room there.

For example - this week is a February / March overlap week. So as long as you scrap photos from this week, then you can post it either in February for 100 points OR March for the 100 points - whichever works for you. But you obviously can't count it both places, because the basic rule for Project 52 is that you are posting a previously undocumented week.

Make sense? I don't want the dates for P52 to become cumbersome because when that happens, it sort of makes it not so much fun to do. But the whole idea of the AGC challenge is to motivate you to complete projects. P52 is one of those projects that it's easy to let slide - thinking you'll catch up later - and before you know it, an entire month is gone and now you're 4 weeks behind and it's hard to catch up at that point. So the rational of the 'due date' is just to motivate you to stay caught up with it if that's important to you.

I'm also thinking that in March we may add a "half-credit" points to "P52 catch up" projects. That might help motivate some of us who are either behind or missing a week to get motivated to get those done.

Sharon, bed scarves - aren't those the things you put on the end of the bed so the cat will have a place to sleep? I hope you will share some pictures!

Deanna, I hope we warned you this challenge is highly addictive! I'm glad you had fun and glad you'll be joining us next month.

Teresa, if those are the photos you posted on fb, I was thinking what great pictures those would be to scrap!

Okay ladies, it's time for me to admit I have a head like a sieve, and I need to make a checklist of items to put into my kit each month. I've seen some really good ideas in the chatter this month and I'm saying why didn't I think of that. Chipboard, file folders, yep, need a list.

Yes. It doesn't have to be something fancy.
Just something that you create from scratch to use as a page embellishment. So a hand created layered die cut would work, but you're right that you can only count it one place or the other, not both.

I am so glad you mentioned stickles as BLING... because I couldn't decided on my third bling! THANKS!

No problem. Those little blingy things are often forgotten about.

Also ... I am going to admit that I ended up googling the "definition" of doily to be sure my cricut cut would work... that was VERY beneficial!

Google is quite often my best friend.

Hello ladies
I have missed a lot of chatter ...lol
I got my aunt's book done yesterday morning only 18 pages but the last couple I just made collages of pictures so i filled all 20 . She loved it . I will be posting pages but I will post a little at at a time not many point as I really did simple but I did get a few challenges in .
Welcome Tracey this is a very inspiring challenge gets you scrapping in ways you would have never done without the inspiration .
I went out with a friend for the first time in a lonnnng time last night we went to a little cafe -listening room downtown to listen to a band that she knew one of the singers it was really fun I was driving so I just drank water but it was really fun to get out and I took pics so something new for my 52 week challenge if I ever get caught up on it ..lol
I am going to get started pointing and uploading all these pages Have a Happy Sunday!!

I was going to ASK you if you got your Aunt's book done, but I didn't want to rub salt in the wound if you hadn't. So glad to know that it's done and off your plate. I imagine that's a huge relief -- sort of like my Weekly project will be if I ever actually cut into the paper for it!

And YEAH for friends, and nights out, and music, and listening cafes and rooms, and cameras, and project 52's!

I have - once again - edited the spreadsheet for March. I took Lyn's advice and put all the entry columns in column A so there's no switching back and forth. I added a "half-credit" option for those project 52 "I need to catch up" pages. I combined a couple of lines so the sheet would be shorter. I took out that double points for "using watercolors, markers". I moved buttons to the 3 point group. They seem to fit better with the other items there than they do in the one point category. I added a row for beads and jewelry. I added something else, but I forget what it was....

Anyway, come March 1, you'll want to download the new sheet. And I think this one will run for a while since we've been using the February one all month and have found out where the holes in it are. I'm pretty sure I plugged them all up!

Hey. Let's do something fun with this. And yes, I am PROCRASTINATING, yes, yes I am. But this could be fun for a minute.

For Lyn's benefit, list THREE things that you ALWAYS put into your kit "just in case..."

Okay Pat all my weeklies there except 5 my Tiger one. Now I am doing a Doreen's trick used loads of yellow in that one but posted too early.

For my kits I always included buttons - not in Feb and did I sure miss them - at least 10 double sided papers, ribbon at least 3 types, bling of some sort, card stock in a rainbow, chipboard -you never know - some matching ephemera, some metal charms/pieces some wooden bits, lace and of course flowers. Hmmmm and this time I added Nuvo drops and next time stickles and liquid pearls. Oh I add brads and eyelets for good measure.

I have 3 days to do 4 challenges for Feb and work. Hmmm wish me luck.

My P52 is way behind but I have a list on my phone of each week and the corresponding photos. That is my March priority.

My three things

1. Card stock- it has saved me more than once!
2. ribbon and or fiber
3. Something that can be used for bling - even if you have to color it with ink!!

LOL! Thanks, Pat. I need all the help I can get!

My 3 things:
White card stock - It can be colored, cut, assembled, and rarely ends up as white card stock.
Green cs scraps - I always need leaves for my flowers, so lots of this.
Vellum - It goes with everything, and is almost as versatile as the white card stock.

I grab things in the following order

1. Raw Chipboard
2. File Folders
3. Black Cardstock
4. A set of Thickers alpha letters
5. My little heart shaped metal brads (I think I have close to 500 - possibly more - of the little darlings).

I can't really speak to things I ALWAYS put in my kit... but I know this month has taught be to include

1) Basic color cardstock - this month was primary colors +white and black
2) stickles - I threw them in as last minute MAYBE... and have used them often.
3) papers or embellishments that may go with any holidays throughout the month... even wacky ones like National Pig Day or Plant a Flower Day! LOL

Hey everybody. Look! I cut some PAPER! This might become my Weekly Challenge #5. I hope it does anyway. It is not going well. Which is why I'm here instead of over there talking to it and begging it to become something.

Prompt #25 ~ In Between By GentlewoodFarms

I'm taking these 25 points for a daily photograph because that may very well be the ONLY points that happen for this particular project. It is NOT going well. I'm not in a slump, I don't think. I WANT to do something with this project - but I'm just not feeling particularly inspired at the moment. I'm going to let it marinate a while and see what the shoemaker's elves might end up doing to it. My best guess is NOTHING, but I'm ever hopeful.

Points Update = 7333

AaaaaaagggggghhhhHHHHHHHH !

I just spilled a half-a-bottle of Moonshadow Mist on my project! Aaaagggghhhhh.

Prompt #27 ~ Oops By GentlewoodFarms

My green card stock photo mat plan is ruined, but I think I can salvage the leftover pieces of it to get some individual mats.... I sopped up the liquid USING my project (the doily was just adhered with some modge-podge and it's stuck good and tight. Then I set up my ironing board and some paper towels and ironed up the whole mess.

I'm back in business.

Upside ... my project is now the color of horse poop and mud. This could work. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? I mean what ELSE is the worst that could happen? Don't answer that. I need no more bad mojo.

jci - Celebrated getting letter from defense attorney saying the settlement check is in the mail. Busy today prepping taxes with DH. Need to get all those credits for medical deductions this year, but that list is with my attorneys and will be getting that paper back this week. Also got confirmation of $6K credit card reimbursement for returned ear devices that didn't help with my tinnitus. It would be so much better if insurance companies covered or reimbursed for alternative treatments rather than wasting money on drugs and equipment.

Pat - great weekly to end the month and I even had "those" pics in my Gotta get these scrapped stack. I'll have to deal with that project before Wednesday. However, I never counted stickles and shiny paper as bling - boy have I miss lots of points.

Kathy - spoiler alert - you'll LUV my subject!

Bonus Daily for Lyn - I always put lace, mists and flowers in my kit, which are the same ones I always take to 1-day crops/meet-ups. I consider papers standard stock, but I have a folder of standards that are stored in my crop bag along with my vice for Coca Cola - you can't scrap without them

Need to fix dinner and get ready for work week before settling down for Olympic closing ceremonies.

btw - HELLO to our newbie!!!!

Suzi - to a quick recovery so you can join us in March!

Okay... I keep hearing you ladies say you are tired of your kit... I am having separation anxiety! I still have more birthday pics to scrap... but I want to get some pages down for my youngest and my great nephew... so that would mean bringing in my HUGE baby boy and boy papers and embellishments... There is no WAY my kit can contain both... PLUS the seasonal stuff I want to include!

Can you tell I"m sitting here scratching my head, wondering how I'm going to pull this weeks LO out of my blue & green kit?

Can't wait Linda to see your project now.
I need to work on pulling my kit together. I have had a bit of a plan since mid month now I need to track down the papers from my ever growing not decreasing stash. Help me I have a paper addiction!

Deanna you can continue on with your old kit for daily projects next month and new kit for weekly challenges. That way you can have both being used. I have pages left over in my kit from this month that will either go back to the stash or add to the new. Either way I have 4 new projects completed from this month and I am loving it.

P52 really needs to be a focus next month........ This week is a routine week for us nothing special planned so I will be intrigued to see what I record for the activities to go on this P52 week.

I'm not tired of my kit so much as I am DONE with my kit. I planned six projects with it, and so far I've done four and I'm working on #5. I may or may not get that last paper set out by the end of February, but if I don't, it's bagged up and ready to go to my April Feminist Crafters Night (I'm hosting this one, so it doesn't have to go FAR...)

I'll be checking my kit leftovers for things that I might want to try recycling in March, but for the most part, I pretty much did what I planned to do with the kit I put together.

If you know what photos you want to get scrapped up, then you could start there and plan your March kit accordingly. I never know about photos until the challenge sets itself up. I always hunt for photos to fit the challenges and then make them work with whatever is in my kit. That's just the way I scrap. Others start with photos and make the paper and embellishment choices based on that. You just have to decide on it based on what works for YOU. Because, as you've found out this month, the weekly challenges are fairly broad while also pretty narrow, but you can usually make just about ANY kit fit the specs (or the brief as Kathy calls it).

If you want to know a little about where my March head could go you could take a look at the weekly and monthly celebrations and think, "wonder what Pat would do with THOSE...."

This particular site is my favorite ...
Brownie Locks March 2018 Holidays
I also check this one regularly
Holiday Insights
And this one is way off the beaten path
Weird March Holidays

I pretty much stick to these three and if I can't find something there, I'm just not looking hard enough. ;-)

But you've been with me a month now, and you know that I have a brain that really does love a great twisted ending! So what's obvious ... well, it'll be weirder than obvious. Which you've probably figured out.

ONLY if you want a black out. There is that lovely lower left to upper right diagonal and that nice right down the center column - no red or pink in sight. I know this because I LOOKED!

Have you used your freebie element yet? And I KNOW you have white card stock because you TOLD me so. :wink wink:

Well, the good news is that individual days are safe from weekly challenges for the most part. I tend to stick with the monthly and weekly themes for building ideas on ... however, I don't always match them up on the week that they occur....

And daily challenges you don't have to use your kit for, so you can enjoy reading those free from any and all worry.

I have pages left over in my kit from this month that will either go back to the stash or add to the new. Either way I have 4 new projects completed from this month and I am loving it.

Now THAT'S a great idea!

P52 really needs to be a focus next month........ This week is a routine week for us nothing special planned so I will be intrigued to see what I record for the activities to go on this P52 week.

I recorded a muddy horse show and I'm having the devils own time scrapping it. ::

To be fair... I didn't name him... my daughter did, he's actually her pet.
I wanted to name him Truffles!

Moustache March... My currently deployed hubby would be perfect inspiration for this!

After an entire day of willful procrastination, fits and starts, sitting and looking at my project, digging through kit leftovers and ziplock bags, picking stuff out, changing my mind, spilling a bottle of mist all over my papers, getting out my ironing board and cleaning up the mess, trying to come up with a new plan, changing my mind again... I think I might finally be ready to put some photographs on this thing ... maybe.

I'm also pretty sure that as soon as I post the daily challenge for tomorrow, I'm probably going to bed. Not doing anything all day is EXHAUSTING.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ DAILY CHALLENGE ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

FEBRUARY 26

It's WORLD PISTACHIO DAY!

Pistachio Day celebrates the popular nut, which are native to the Middle East. The largest producer of pistachio nuts today is Iran but they are also grown in other areas, including California and Mediterranean Europe. The Chinese are the greatest consumers of the nut. It is thought that pistachio nuts have been eaten by humans for at least 9000 years. L egend even has it that the Queen of Sheba restricted the eating of pistachios to the royal court and forbade commoners to grow them!

Pistachios are not just eaten as a snack – they are also used in cooking, while their sweet flavor sometimes finds them used in desserts, such as Lebanese dish baklava. You can sometimes find pistachio ice cream alongside more common flavous such as chocolate or strawberry. Studies have even suggested that eating moderate amounts of pistachios can help keep your heart healthy!

Empty pistachio shells are useful for recycling in several ways. If unsalted, the shells need not be washed and dried before reuse, but washing is simple if that is not the case. Practical uses include as a fire starter; kindling to be used with crumpled paper; to line the bottom of pots containing houseplants for drainage and retention of soil for up to two years; as a mulch for shrubs and plants that require acid soils, as a medium for orchids; and as an addition to a compost pile designed for wood items that take longer to decompose than leafy materials (it can take up to a year for pistachio shells to decompose unless soil is added to the mix). Shells from salted pistachios can also be placed around the base of plants to deter slugs and snails. Many craft uses for the shells include holiday tree ornaments, jewelry, mosaics and rattles. Research indicates that pistachio shells may be helpful in cleaning up pollution created by mercury emissions.

~ Use a recycled product (something that has been used before for another purpose) on your project today.

~ Have fun~

This LO basically created itself... I was getting ready for bed came out to grab something for my stash to put in my March AGC kit... and saw the Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Skies paper. Then I found an album I bought a couple years ago that has premade pages and saw the You are my SONSHINE across the page... I immediately cut it off its page and went to work putting this together... simplest ... fastest page I have done in FOREVER... but I LOVE IT!

I posted this 9ish last night and didn't double check to see if it linked properly. I finished the lo after work yesterday and was tired so sorry ladies. We had a crazy day at work that had a Chinese New Year program that included music, dancing and marshal arts. Then there was arts and crafts after so needless to say parking was at a premium. Went to work today, sister was here when I got home and after she left son Adam dropped by.
So now fixing the problem.

I finished up my last two weekly layouts last night! I was surprised that I quite like them both because I am quite sick of my kit. I don't think I put enough paper in it at all so I felt quite limited there. However I do like what I made so that is all that matters. Will have to post them tomorrow because I am on the ipad right now. I will definitely be making a whole new kit I think - I may keep a couple things. Since it was my first month I can't say what I "always" put in but I can say I was very thankful to have mists, flowers, thickers and brads for sure. I definitely want to include more paper options, vellum and more ribbon.

Hey, it was OK. :-) I went and found it in your gallery so I could make sure we got it put into the weekly random group! I love it - I have a special place in my heart for boy scouts. :-)
