I understand there is a scrapbook class in Santa Barbara on 4/14 at 6:30p but I don't know where this class is being held. I am new to scrapbook.com and live in Southern California....can someone please let me know the particulars of this event? Thank you.
I just saw an advertisement in the LSS last night and realized that the scrapbook expo is going to be Thurs, Fri, and Sat. That's just weird, guess I'll have to suck it up and take two days off of work.

welcome Jennifer! I hope you like it here. Please excuse the "mayoral situation" that's happening right now, hopefully that will be cleared up quickly... Seriously, do you know where in the area you will be moving to, yet? I don't actually live in the City of S.D., but in the east county....I've been there since 1979... We have some great LSS's here. Okay, I'll quit blabbing now.

Hey we are neighbors.
I'm sorry for re-visiting this thread only now. BUT I'm really so thrilled to have read your post. I hope we could meet some time and perhaps crop together? Where are you from??? We might be "bumping" into each other and we don't even know it!
OK, San Diegans... i've got a flyer from my LSS about a SCRAPBOOK EXPO on Thur-Sat, JUNE 23-25 at the SAN DIEGO CONCOURSE, 202 C ST., SD Admission is $8 Show Hours: Thu & Fri is 11am-6pm, Sat is 10am-5pm Contact No.: (888)252-3976 check out www.scrapbookexpo.com
WTG, ladies!!! i haven't registered yet as our family is scheduled for a vacation on those dates. i don't know when the registration ends BUT if there's a change in vacation plans, i'll try to register AND perhaps meet up with you!
OK ladies here I come. I will officially be moved in my home in Murrieta in 3 weeks. Hopefully I can meet up with some of you to scrap. I plan on opening an LSS in Temecula by next summer. Keep your fingers crossed for me
Sassy, you were at the Expo Thurs?? So was I! We should have hooked up. Bummer. Maybe next time.
I bought way too much. As usual. I think it was better this year than last. I really liked the RP booth and the Stickers and Scrapbooks (?) booth. Oh, and the DCWV booth. I wish I had picked up a couple of other Stacks.
And I'll be in your neck of the woods later today. Taking the kiddoes to San Diego for a couple of days so we can visit Legoland and the zoo. Wish I could squeeze in some time to check out the area's SB stores.
I was thinking about hosting a crop for us SC gals. What do you think? I live in Murrieta which is in the middle of your San Diego and Los Angeles gals. I think it would be so much fun to get together and crop. I was thinking the beginning of October.
What a wonderful idea. I wish I could make it but I've already got a 12 hour crop in October and I only do 3 big crops a year (spaced out enough so that DH doesn't get too fussy about me being gone and him having the kids). I won't be doing any more crops until next year.
OMG... i've missed so much while i was MIA on this thread! i'll have to keep this in my faves so i am kept posted.
Let me first say HI to all SoCal ladies!
I really had a blast at Emily's crop last Aug 26. Em is one great gal! Am happy to have met her!
I'd love to meet with all of you too, if possible! Jennifer, the crop you're planning sounds soooooo inviting. However, i'll have to check hubby's schedule too. I'd prefer Saturday crop if only dh would skip one of his Saturday golf games (will have to talk to him). You'll hear from me soon via PM.
Went to Memories Expo in Pasadena today. It's a very small expo, but truth be told I enjoyed not jostling through a huge crowd. Visited the Rusty Pickle booth and picked up a few goodies with the thought of possibly entering this month's contest at SB.com.
I also entered a contest where all the participants were given the same tools and supplies and had to come up with something in 30 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised to receive 2nd prize and win a nice bag of SB loot.
I hadn't thought of posting it here. It's nothing special so I was very surprised to win. I'll get it uploaded later.
Funny thing is I am a very slooooooooow scrapper by nature, so to have to come up with something in 30 minutes.... well, it was interesting. Plus, the tools were new (unfamiliar). The paper trimmer was a cuterpede which opens differently than any of my 3 paper trimmers. The only adhesive we had were some thick glue dots. That made for some lumpy spots.
The adrenaline was definitely pumping, my hands were shaking. I was surprised the page looked finished when I was done. And, of course, even more surprised to find I'd won something. But definitely happy. I'll post to this thread once I've got it in my gallery.
Thanks so much! Honestly, I'm not completely thrilled with the job I did. I agree patterns can be hard to work with (esp when you don't get to pick them for yourself! ). I was so wishing for just one more sheet of cardstock when I opened the pack. And, oh if only I could have had just a little more time...
But it was just fun to give the competition a try. And prizes are always fun.
So how did you all do with the thunderstorms? Things got very bright and NOISY here at about 3am. You know that trick where you count seconds from a burst of lightening to see how far away it was? I was counting the booms off at 3-5 seconds when I first woke up. Then we had one big bright crack of lightening that lit the whole house. I didn't even count to 1 when I heard the boom.
Oooooooh, skeeeeery. We lost power around 3:15. I was very happy when the storm moved further away.
