I keep thinking it would be cool to have a crop at my workplace. We have a library area with nice big tables. We could all bring our toys and share in a place where we wil not wind up buting something.
Renee I'll look at it on the map when I get to work, but you sound close to me. Have you ever been to Peoria? I live in Canton. kathyy that would be so fun, but I don't think I can get the time off work to go to chicago yet.
Anyone who would like to participate in something like this Pm me and I will put everyone's town on a map and then let everyone know where it is going to be. Then everyone can tell me if they are able to go.
Hello Everyone - I'm from Elmhurst. It's a suburb of Chicago (about 20 min. west) and I am planning on going to the Scrapbook Expo in Villa Park (which is the next town over from me). Can't wait to get to know all of you.
Hi everyone! Hope everyone is good. Jersey77, do you do any cropping in groups around your house? I'd love to meet other scrappers, I don't really know too many people in the area, that's why I love this site.
jersey77, Hey. I think that would be cool if we could get a group together to scrap, even at a local scrapbook store, are there any you go to? Of course anyone else that is in our area is more than welcome to suggest something, too.
Well I will be driving past pretty much all of you in a few hours. I have to make the lovely drive from Zion (think Lake Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois) all the way down to Carbondale for the weekend. I love being down there, but dread the 7 hour trip. And I don't have room to drag much scrap stuff. Bummer
**Warning not related to scrapping/hobbies** On Friday 4/22 we (my job) are hosting a job fair. We have 79 companies registered. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll send you details. I hope no one is offended by me posting this but I thought it may be helpful for someone. **Warning not related to scrapping/hobbies**
hey, everyone. Liz, Channahon is a nice place to live, growing quickly, but still nice. I have a friend who lives in Montgomery, so I know where you're at now. Jersey77, I know the scrapbooking store you're talking about in Joliet, they have a nice work area there, so do the Archiver's, I've been to the one in Orland, I wish that it was closer! I think with all the building going on in Channahon/Minooka, smeone should open up a scrapbook store!
I'm going to post this again. Does anyone want to get together for a big crop? I think it would be really neat to meet everyone. I would be willing to plan it if we had enough interest. I love to plan things.
Hi, all! I'm in the western suburbs of Chicago ... and I grew up in Champaign-Urbana ... and my folks & my brother (and his family) are in Springfield. So far, every town that's been listed (except for Bone Gap! LOL!) I have a passing recognition of! If anyone wanted to do a Sunday crop, there's a woman just a few miles from me who has her own SB B&B, which is very cool!
Ok everyone. Since coaltownscrapper pmed me. I thought I'd see if anyone else is interested still. It looks like since we have people in the Champaign area and the Chicago area, we're looking at the middle of the state somewhere to meet. I know Peoria Illinois has a nice store with a big scrap area and the best thing is it's right next door to Hobby Lobby. I'm thinking a Saturday all day crop. What does everyone think?
Thought it might be fun for us to bring this thread back to life. Illinois is a great place and we shouldn't be so dead. Let's get to know each other and learn more about Illinois. If I was going to visit your city this summer what would you tell me I had to see? I'm in Chillicothe, Central part of the state. We have a great historical society here that run a musuem in an old house and a old, old train station museum. Trains were what put us on the map way back when. So they play a big part in our history. We have a nice city park with a big pool. We are right on the Illinois River. That is where the pool is at. Picnics are awesome there on the river. We have a quaint coffee shop right downtown with awesome drinks and food. Some of my favorite restraunts in town are Greek, great gyros! Baileys pub has good food to downtown. On Thursday evenings in the summer there is a Second STreet Market. There is live entertainment, flea markets, farmers market and anything you can think of is downtown on Thursday evenings. Your turn tell me about where you live and what can I do if I come there?
I'm in Minooka. A little old Indian town. Only about 4,000 people. Love it.
I don't think there is a whole lot to do in Minooka. There is a great Italian restaurant in the downtown area called Gabriel's. They have the best lasagna. We're right down the street from the I & M canal. Great fishing, boating, walking, biking area. There is always the casino down the street about 10 minutes. Starved Rock which is a beautiful place is about 40 minutes away. Great hiking, horseback riding, picnics. The scenary is wonderful in the fall. And the great city of Chicago is never too far away.
Hey myarrows! I just remembered you have a scrapbook store! How big is it? Do you think maybe we could have our crop there? Then not only could we meet other SB.comers, but we could help one's store out too.
It isn't huge by any means. I have a ton of stuff however. I have comfortable room for 10 scrappers and we could squeeze a little if we needed to. There are plenty of places to get food, Coffee shop next door to me, Baileys Pub, Fedora's Pizza, McDonalds, Subway, Hardees' DQ, Pizza Hut, so that isn't a problem. You are welcome to come to the store. The draw back is that there isn't really anywhere else to go grab something else to scrapbook. Peoria is 20 minutes away. Ya all could plan part of your day though to go do some shopping. In Peoria there is Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Jeffery Allens, Jo Anns and two scrapbook stores. I'd be happy to have you come to Paper Scissors Crop. I have a Sizzix machine, and Side Kick with just about every Sizzix die and every font they make for both machines. I also have a binder full of shapes for QuicKutz and several of their alphabet fonts also. Let me know if you have other questions.
Midlothian is about 15 miles from Chicago. It is a small town of about 15,000. We have a Metra line that runs through town and there is a country club. There are lots of walking paths through the forest preserve. My kids go to the catholic school here and we have a great library. I used to live in the city and moved out here when I got married. It is a nice little town where everyone knows everyone or related.
It is normally $2 a hour for the workshop. On Wednesday mornings I have a Coffee & Crop from 9-noon for $5. I have a pizza Pop & Crop once a month on Friday, 6-midnight for $10. First and third Monday nights of the month we have Friends Cropping With Friends, 6-10pm for $5.
I'm sorry for being so slow. I normally open at 9 am but would be happy to open earlier for anyone. My daughter is showing in alot of horse shows this summer so sometimes I am closed on Saturday. Feel free to give me a call before hand.
This weekend is Libertyville Days. Thursday June 9 through Sunday June 1. Stop by and have some fun. I highly recommend the corndogs and cotton candy.
"A Page in Time" is have a 15% off sale during Libertyville Days. They are located in Downtown Libertyville at 528 North Milwaukee Avenue. There is parking behind the building. They have Memory Albums, Rubber Stamps, Scrapbook Supplies, Rubber Stamp Supplies, Brass Stencils, and more.
My office is doing some cleaning. We have a bunch of VHS cases (~120). They are blue and have the hubs in them. The hub can be removed with a Dremel or a craft knife. These make great storage containers, especially for stamps.
If anyone is interested in these let me know.
You will need to come pick them up and have something to carry them in. My office if located at Harrison and Racine in Chicago.
