Welcome emmam! I went by your place, but did not see your blog. Greta, there was a very active group of scrappers from the Coast at one time that would set up all kinds of crops and things. I'll see if I still have the link to the site, and if I do, I'll send that to you. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Well, I finally made myself start going through the paper and receipts. Everyyear I say I am going to do it on a monthly basis, but I never do. All I have to do now is sit down and add up everything. I did manage to clean out and straighten all the office drawers.

Well, I ended up working late on Friday, so I did not get to go to the crop on Friday night, but I finally finished a couple of lo's. I am in the No Shopping Challenge again this month, so that is giving me some incentive to finish a few things. What has everyone else been working on lately?

I've been in Erin Jo's pages challenge and I'm hoping to pull out some old vacation photos and work on them a bit. I'm suppose to get 6 more pages finished before the end of the month. and I'm very slow and time limited.

Hate you didn't get to go have fondue, Laura! Good luck with the no shopping challenge----you are almost finished with the month!

I tried the pages challenge when it first started, and I dropped out halfway into it. There were ladies in there posting two and three lo's per day!! I got so overwhelmed trying to keep up with everything. It is a great challenge though. Erin always has some wonderful ideas.

I don't know of anything in Tunica but I'm about 3 hours from there too. However, the one time I was there I remember there being a huge strip mall, casinos, and not alot else. Then again, all we were going for was the outlet mall.

Hi TC! I think that Kristen is right, and about all there is to do, other than gamble at the casinos, is to go to the little outlet mall that is there. I don't remember anything related to scrapbooking, but the Visitors Center there might know of a place near there.

Hi Jen! I live in Florence too, as does Scrapdnms. There is a great scrapbooking store just south of Florence, and if you would like more info, just pm me.

Hey, TC, never been over that way so I have no clue.

Welcome, Jen, I'm up north near Tupelo. Nice to meet you!

We are waiting to see if this ice storm is going to reach us...doing a big of hibernating here today! Just rain so far.

Hi Jen-Welcome!1 I am right on the Clinton?Jackson border.

My husband is in Benoit this weekend playing paintball. He said they are supposed to get a lot of ice. That's the price he pays to have his fun. I am going to try to work on catching up on my scrappin while he's gone.

Hey, ya'll! It's "wintery mixing" here. Little rain, little flurries, little sleet. It's fun for me because I haven't seen much snow/ice before. (I'm from the coast if you don't know already.) But the ice is building up on the power lines a bit...tad worried about that. They no longer have use under the ice storm warning tho---just winter storm now.

I'll be posting pics on my blog tonight or tomorrow.

Hey y'all!!!! Is anyone around here from the Bay St. Louis area???? My inlaws just left this morning to go over there for the week and help in the schools. From what I understand, there's no funds for substitute teachers, so none of the teachers are getting any time off. They've gone over to give some of the teachers a break this week....they're retired teachers/principals.

Anyhoo....they're in our camper and they've never camped before.....EVER!!!! SO if you see a nice older couple with GA tags on the side of the road, stop and give 'em a hand.

No, I'm up north now near Tupelo. Just not use to this cold weather up here.

Ok, it is 18 degrees here! Quite ridiculous! I was out snapping some pics of the sun coming up on the ice and my camera started acting up and my fingers hurt. I think the camera and I were about to turn to ice! LOL But it was so pretty---like little diamonds hanging in the trees.

Anyone else freezing? I've gotta go turn my heat up---this trying to conserve is no fun. Guess I'll turn off all the lights.

OOoh! sounds like you were comfy! I was sitting in at the kitchen table studying most of the day.

Yesterday the bridges and all were iced over, but they didn't cancel morning classes. I stayed home till it thawed out tho.

Today we are back to pretty much normal. Drab and gray but normal.

Laura, how goes the no spending challenge?

Everyone, Hello. What's going on this week?

I've been at work all week. Luckily yesterday we were just below the ice line! Since I drive 35 miles one way each day - and over lots of bridges - that was a very big blessing. Less than 10 miles north of us though was all icy.

Today I'm just plain cold. I wish we would get the sun back - I'm sick of dreary and it's supposed to be dreary all week.

Oh well, enough complaining - hope everyone has a great week!

Kristen, I am right there with ya! I hate the cold, but I think I could manage it a bit better if the sun would just come out and stay for a while. So tired of it being overcast and dreary.

That's funny...I drive almost exactly 35 miles one way to school every day. And I counted the bridges---11! and they all had ice--but by the time I decided it was safe to leave they had salted (?) them all---some kind of gravel looking stuff.

And I'm so with ya'll on needing to see the sun...it came out today after lunch. I'm having to look at it thru the window tho since I'm studying my butt off. But I like the colder weather (not freezing, but cold), better than the 90+ of summer.

I think I went over/under 11 bridges too! THat's to weird! I agree with you on cooler weather than 90+ summers. I think my ideal is lows in the 60s and highs in the lower 70s. I prefer the jeans with long sleeves but don't have to have a jacket.

That is strange...now is 95% of your trip on the same road? Mine is. and today when I got to school my trip odometer said 35.3. I use it so I can tell how close I am to school because it all looks the same and I can never tell where I am.

I was wondering about going under bridges----I noticed it looked like they salted under the overpasses too. Is ice a problem under bridges?

I do do about 95% of it on the same road! However, for me it's the interstate so I at least pass exits that look slightly different. Mine may be more like 33 or 34 miles - I can't remember. I don't know if ice under bridges is a problem or not. I was mainly trying to watch for cars going over the bridges. Didn't want one to land on me. Oh, I do know that if it is icy under the bridges then that ice will stick around longer than the rest once the sun comes out becuase it's in the shade of the bridge.

Well folks, I am sick (cough, cough, wink, wink), so I guess I'll just have to stay at home and scrap today . . . And, I see the sun!!! Wish me luck. I need to finish these swap items, and get some of this stuff postal tomorrow.

Karen, I keep saying I am going to get by your digital group to look at the pages you ladies are creating. I have been playing around with some digital programs I received for Christmas, but I haven't done much with it yet. I really love working with paper, but there are times when I just don't want to get all of my stuff out, kwim?

Well, we almost lead the same "weekday driving" lives, don't we? Mine is a 4 lane highway (not interstate tho) with nothing around---hwy 76 or hwy 6---don't know exactly why, but it's kind of both thru that part.

Yeah, a car landing on you would *not* make for a good day! Yeah, I imagine the shade thing---maybe they were being extra cautious in salting them? Anyway...I avoided that!

Laura,
Enjoy your sick day. Sometimes you just need them.

Well, there is never enough time to do everything! I finished one of the swaps I am in, and it will go postal tomorrow (yippee!), and I started on another one. My ds is fighting a sinus infection, and got sick at daycare, so I picked him up early today. However, he was feeling better by the time I picked him up, and we had a great afternoon playing together. So, off to work I go Friday, and thank goodness, it is almost the weekend!!!!

Congrats Angela on the test!! It sounds like you and Kristen both had great weekends. I chased my 4 year old at a birthday party on Saturday and helped dh clean our carpet on Sunday. Not exactly fun filled, but my carpet looks nice now, so it was worth it.

I am supposed to get my first jar of primas today. I mostly do lo's about my little boy, so I hope I'll use these. I see them on so many other lo's here, and I have been wanting to try some, so we will see.

Have a great week everyone!!

I am loving all of this warm weather. I even went for a walk on Sunday, and played outside with my little boy. It was so much fun!! Hard to get back to work, when I really wanted to just work in my yard. I am out of town today, but the hotel has internet access, and I brought some stuff to do some scrapping, if I don't fall asleep soon. So, I was looking at the fly lady challenge this month. I did not join up, but I have been lurking around the thread. Anybody joined any interesting challenges or swaps this month?

I'm loving this weather too. We've gone for a walk every day this week when we get home from work. It's wonderful! Unfortunately, tomorrow we're supposed to get thunderstorms.

No challenges or swaps this month but another site I'm on is having a month-long cybercrop starting Friday.

Yeah, Kristen, not looking forward to all the wind and storms they are saying we'll have tomorrow.

I've been walking too! It's so nice!

Laura, I'm pretending to be in a few challenges: photo, pages challenge, flylady, Dr. Seuss, weight loss thread, oh and a circle journal. Is that too much?? LOL Anyway it's fun and they motivate me to do some things for myself instead of working all the time.

Kristen, the cyber crop sound interesting. Can you pm me the details?

Is everyone ok after the storms yesterday? We lost several large limbs from trees at my house, but that was about it. My dh said the power at the house was out for about an hour, but we never lost power here at work.

Hey, Laura. That was a rough storm. Glad you are ok and everyone else too I hope. We had limbs down and such, but nothing serious. I put a mattress in the hallway just in case. We had a tornado warning --- and they said it was headed right for us. Seems like almost everyone up here has storm shelters----we've looked into it, but haven't taken the plunge yet.

We're fine. It wasn't near as bad here as they said it was gonna be. It got really dark in Vicksburg for about 15 min but then it was just a normal lightish rain.

Laura - I'll be glad to pm you the details for the cybercrop!

Hey ya'll......I live about 40 minutes from the MS line over in AL.....We're thinking about going to the Tupelo Zoo next week for spring break....has anyone been? Is it better than the Jackson Zoo?

The Bham zoo over here is always the same!

Any good sb stores along the way?

Tupelo has a zoo??? Huh! I know we have a buffalo park----but we haven't been yet. I know the Bham zoo is much bigger because my brother is a huge fan of it and trying to get a job there now.

There's an automobile "museum" that I have been to see and it's pretty neat---they have a whole sequence beginning with the ones that look like "horseless" buggies. And along the Natchez Trace just north of Tupelo there are some Indian mounds you can go see---they are really tall. Although probably not that exciting for the kids. Let me know if you come.

There's only one sb store in Tupelo and it's not very impressive---mostly paper and stickers.

Thanks for the info......we are still debating this morning where we're going to go.....Its probably going to be Jackson Zoo since hubby has some business to do over there.
Are there any sb stores in Jackson or close by?

I want to go to Columbus, GA, Tupelo, MS, and Jackson, MS.....choices! Choices! Choices!

It is funny how you hear about things to do in your city that you never thought of doing or heard about.......

Ya'll stay dry.....its pouring here and the next few days doesnt look any better.

I am broke until then though. I really need to cut back on some of my spending, but it sure is hard with all the pretty stuff out there. Has anyone here entered the $20,000 contest? I won't, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for any Mississippi ladies!!

Hello!! Things are a little hectic for me right now. I had some personal things come up earlier in the week, and now I am just trying to get caught up with a few swaps, and other obligations. My ds has a party to go to in the a.m., and then we are off to have Easter pics taken. Wish me luck!!

Busy here too! We were suppose to go home this weekend, but alas, too much studying to do...so no going home for another 4 weeks. (DH only has one weekend off a month.)

Hello, everone!!! Hope your week is getting off to a great start!!

Hey everyone-life seems to get busier and busier. I have not scrapped ion forever. I have bought some new stuff here and there. I am a year behind on my dd and a year and a half behind on my son. I just can not seem to get motivated or find the time.

I know what you mean. I would like to do a page or two this weekend, and my mind is completely blank. I just seem to be all out of ideas. I think I might work on my vacation pics this weekend. Ummm, those would be from October . . .

Thanks so much Laura and Angela.

I am still in shock even though I have seen it in print. It just seems so unreal to think that that is me.

Hey Angela! I haven't been on much; life just gets busy doing other things!

That sounds like a great idea for a MS crop. I have cropped with Laura before, and kinda cropped with Kristen. I was there at the LSS when she was cropping, but I was working on some DT things. It would be so much fun to meet everyone else!

emmam, I'm right there with you on the too busy thing!

Hey, Laura.

I agree with Penny and Angela (Didishavemylegs4this) a crop would be fun, but then there's that time thing again.

Hello to any other MS neighbors lurking around.

I would love to do a crop and meet up with some neighbors. I have got to get some work done on my pages. I just never know what to bring to a crop. I guess i could just load up my storage drawers-HAHA

If we decide to do it at one of the LSS in the area, then we could probably use its die cutting tools (sizzix, etc). Also, anything we forget (paper, adhesive, etc.) could be purchased there. Seriously, if any of you decide you want to get together, just let me know, and I would love to have an excuse to take a night and get some pages done.

There is always the possibility of setting up a cyber crop as well. I think one of the LSS that Penny goes to has cyber crops from time to time.

It does. In fact, we have one scheduled for May. For everything you do, you receive various points. Then we have different challenges, and then for each challenge, you get points for completing it. For every 50 pts., your name goes in to a drawing for $25.00 worth of goodies from the store.

And like Laura said, if we do it as a LSS, we have some great ones in the Jackson area that would work and have plenty of room for it.

I actually had to google that in order to find out myself. I just knew I was off, and I did not bother to check the reason until this morning.

hehe - I don't blame you. When my boss tells me I have a day off I don't ask why. After all, don't want her to think I don't want it.
