Any other Brits around?

Not that I'm one - I'm just a UK resident - but would be nice to meet others!

Hi there, I'm Lorraine, new to scrapping by just a few months, new to scrapbook.com as of today

I live just outside Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am the only person I know that scraps!!!!!!! I have got the phone number of a lady that has got a little group together and meet once a month, so I'm going to try and join that.

Hi Lorraine,
That's my name too - but I just shortened it to "Rraine" and it stuck - so I use it as a screen name. How did you hear about scrapping if you are the only person you know who does it? This is a great site and you'll get lots of ideas and helpful suggestions. Welcome!

I've been a member (now admin) of an american based Mommas board since 2003 and was always interested when the other girls taked about the scrapping.

I started making cards towards the end of last year, always believing I'd never get into scrapping but after buying a couple of paper craft magazines, I had lots of ideas swirling round my head and decided to give it ago.

I found it easy to use my card emblishments, stickers, rub ons for scrapping as well and just had to get card stock and a scrapbook to start!

I order online (from here and another UK site) and a few of the craft shops in Belfast have limited scrapbooks etc. I've also just taken part in my first scrap-stock exchange on the other board and can't wait to see what I'll receive!

Whew, you wanted the long version, didn't you?

LOL!! That wasn't very long at all!

I had watched tv shows where they talked about scrapbooking and all I really knew was that you were suppose to use acid free papers. So off I went to one of our big craft stores (Michael's) and bought up acid free paper, stamps, ink pads, stickers, etc. Then when I got home I thought "well, now what am I suppose to do?" I tried a page on my own - I still have it - and it was HORRIBLE! Then nearly a year later I went to a Creative Memories class. It's amazing what a little instruction will do. I walked out of that class $200.00 poorer, but well on my way to a wonderful hobby. That was nearly 4 years ago. Now I teach classes at a local Hardware store in the craft department. I'm lovin' it!!

Hi pecky - I've been to the garden center just off the M1 J13 and there is a craft shop in it called Craftability or something like it. IT was pretty good!

Otherwise, I'm afraid there isn't much shopping to be done around MK - our closest good shop is about an hour and a half away!

Hi!
Just came across this part of the forum, and thought I should make my presence known! I live in central Scotland, and spend half my time on this site (the half that isn't making cards or scrapping!) It's great for inspiration, and I've uploaded a few of my own cards. Haven't put any layouts up yet, but will as soon as I get Photoshop back on my laptop!

Hi! I'm not British, but my DH is from Brecon Wales. I don't know how you ladies find any scrap supplies over there. Especially those of you in the boonies! I don't remember seeing one craft store when I was there.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Liz and I live in Telford, Shropshire, however I also used to live in Milton Keynes!!

I have been scrapbooking for about 3 years now, and I am completely obsessed with scrapbooking and papercraft generally.

The reason I have come into this site is that I am going to Japan on holiday soon, and I wondered if there is anyone out there who has been to Japan?

Looking forward to replies.

Liz

How goes the scrapping overseas, Ladies? I haven't popped in for a while - big exam coming up for a sociology course I'm taking. It'll all be over tomorrow! Once that's over I'll be able to get back into things - I have a swap or two that I need to work on. If you haven't already looked, check out the swaps forums - there are some neat swaps going on and you may be able to get some supplies that you can't get over in Britain. Just an idea.

You all must be very busy scrapping as nobody has posted here for about two weeks!!

I mentioned swapping in my last post. I am currently hosting a heritage swap. If you are interested, please read through the rules and sign up - I would love to swap with UK ladies - and it will give you a chance to receive supplies from Canada and the States.

Hi everyone I'm living in West Yorkshire but am moving to Fife in Scotland in about 4 weeks !!!
I am just starting out with scrapbooking but am really enjoying it.
I love the inspiration and tips from the site as scrapbookers and supplies are both a little thin on the ground around here !

Anyone know of any groups/shops/classes in Fife ?

Hi Im Lisa & Im from Watford in Hertfordshire. Im the only person I know who scraps!! & I find it really hard to get hold of scrapping stuff. Theres only one good shop in Watford that offers really good scrapping stash, but it would be nice to have more variety. Although if I lived in the States, Id be seriously broke!!

hi all im new and from hants down south england! ive only really recently developed my scrapping addiction (the continuation of a previous card making addiction)

getting hold of supplys isnt that hard (its just the only shops that do them round here are the small craft shops... the prices arent exactly student friendly!) but i end up getting most of them off ebay!

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie here and in England. Originally from Ohio, I've been living in Ely for the past six months. I'm guessing this is not "typical" weather, as it has been hot and extremely dry for quite awhile. I'm ready for some rain!!! :-)

It's good to see some more names here! I'm not British, but my Mum is and I have connections with Scotland. Any of you finding it hard to get scrap supplies should consider joining up for some of the swaps here at sb.com. It's a lot of fun. I've just finished hostessing my first swap - but there's lots out there - check out the Swap forum for more details.

Hello United Kingdom!!

I'm new to the site and should go post in the newbies section really. I'm in the south of England half way between London and Brighton (on the coast)...perhaps a tad closer to Brighton really. Anyway I've lived in America for a few years so know what scrapbooking stores/supplies are avaliable out there and just wish we had the same here....I get most of my bits from American ebay sellers since there just isn't as much in the stores here. Anyway just saying hello and adding another Brit to the waving of the UK flag group!!

Looking forward to making new friends here,

Nicola xx

Hi Nicola,

Nice to meet you too

Wow, it's a small world isn't it? Ely is more like a big village than a city. Everyone seems to know everyone else.

It must be quite tough making the change from American Scrap Shops to UK ones. I'm off to Florida in November, so I'm making sure that there's a lot of space in my suitcase!

2) Where can I get brown/white paper lunch bags here ? (costco perhaps ?)

Thanks a million - any Scotland ladies out there it'd be great to hear from you !!

hello all, I have a favor to ask of alot of you, if you don't mind, and hopefully I'm not offending any one by asking this, but here goes,
My twins are 8 yo and doing a project called 100 Days Around The World, for a school project. What we are needing is a post card from all over the world. If any one would be willing to send one it would be greatly appreciated. The post cards are going to be put on a bigger board, and of course the title on the top of the board.
We live in Nebraska, USA, like I said, I hope that IO'm not intruding on any one here, please let me know if any one can help out Thanks so much for your time.

Hi,

I'm not from the UK but instead from Florida but living in another country. I so know how hard it is to find scrapbooking items in a country where it is just beginning to come in. I usually load up when I'm Stateside and load my suitcase full! I also do ordering online which is always loads of fun! Anyhow just wanted to stop by and say hello.

Hi Lisa, I get most of my scrapping supplies from online stores - there's loads. If you haven't come across many they're all listed in the back of any of the Simple Scrapbooks s and are usually pretty good. If you want particular recemmendation PM me and I can give you the lowdown! Nice to talk to you! Carolyn

Hi there. I've seen Modge Podge available on a few online scrapbook shops. If you PM me I can give you details if you're still looking. I got my brown paper bags from that well known online auction site! I'd love you comments on 1 of my paperbag books that's in my gallery if you get a chance!

Hello from across the pond. I'm from New York, but I am always looking for new friends to talk to no matter where they are. Been to the UK about 10 times so I guess you can say I love the place. I've only been cropping for a year now and can always use advice. Hope to hear from you.

Hi there, glad to hear you like the UK!! I live near Oxford. If you're looking for inspirations you're in the right place - there's tons of galleries to look at and lots of people to ask if you have specififc questions. Have fun, Carolyn

Hi Carol, are you enjoying this site? I live just outside Oxford, so not exactly near you but in the same country at least! Isn't it weird to meet people from your neck of the woods via a US website who would never have made contact before. I do a bit of card making but only when I need one to use myself although my daughters like card making too. My passion is scrapbooking - what did I used to do before I discovered it?? Would be nice to hear from you, Carolyn

Please do! Not sure if my settings are for automatically accept or not but if not I'll do what ever to accept the invitation. Hopefully I can do the same with you?

Hi Sarah, well I'm not very close - Oxford - but I thought I'd say hello anyway How do you find this site? I'm still finding my way around but getting there gradually!! Any tips?

The best way is just to click buttons - see where they take you. I find new things every day - especially now that they have updated it lol

Hello Ladies,
I have been watching and posting to this thread since I started at sb.com and have never seen so much activity as now, which is great!!
I am originally for Bedfordshire and am now in the US. You may want to get in touch with Julie, also a UK scrapper. She works part time in a scrapbook store and may be able to give you info on supplies.

Hope you all have a great day!
