My very first LO done in April 1999. DD started to crawl days after I did it so I didn't do any more for about a year because I was either chasing her down all the time or exhausted from doing so. It had a little cutout of her from her 6 month pic taken around Easter of 1999. She was sitting up well and she "popped" out of the egg with a "spring" that I made. Unfortunately when she was a toddler, my kids discovered this LO. My son removed it to touch things and see if I really wove the basket (Yes I did) and she grabbed the miniature of herself popping out of the egg and broke it. Apparently there was a black Sharpie nearby because she also got a black mark on it to the right of my son's pic. She tried to grab it and run and while my son was trying to get it from her, crumbled it a little bit.
I will keep this one but I will make a new Easter 1999 LO. I used tissue paper for the grass in the basket and under it (DD ripped the pieces of green grass under the basket out) and now I know that tissue paper is acidic.
Ok I've made my kids out to be demons. They aren't and were not then. She was going through terrible twos and she grabbed what she wanted, played with it because she was curious. He was trying to correct her behavior by taking it away and she resisted giving it up. She was not going to lose to her brother.
I had already given out all of the small pictures of them at that portrait sitting so I may have to scan the picture of him in order to reuse it on the redone version of Easter 1999.
Why redo it? Its not great, definitely not one of my faves. But it is special to me because it was my first attempt at "modern scrapbooking" and it took me a long time to do. I loved my basket. The handle-not so much.
I don't believe in redoing old LO's and will not redo any others. I am going to make an Easter one for 1999 but the only thing it will have that this one had is the woven basket, grass and my childrens pictures as they were back then.
