Great page! I hope you list the items and what they represent on the back or in hidden journaling or something. His grandkids or great-grandkids might not know all the details.
i don't know much about the steampunk style but this is just breathtaking! and I love how you used your embellishments to represent such meaningful things!
You did a great steampunk page!!! I especially like it on the orange. Love your photo .. my dad was in the Navy and was on the USS West Virginia when the bombing began. He was actually reported MIA and presumed dead. Thanks for the good memories!
Love the metal, the leaves, hinges & buckle and love the portrait of your Dad. My Dad is 88 years old today and was a Marine at the Battle of Iwo Jima--they're part of the "Great Generation!"
Steampunk with a Tahitian Twist. I love it! We're certainly putting our own faces on Steampunk, aren't we? Robin, I knew this was yours before I ever even opened it up. You've got just such a wonderful eye and style. Your LOs reflect your creativity and personality, and I love looking at your work. It's inspiring!
Wow!!!! I love the photo!!!! Your dad looks so handsome and cool - like he knew it! I am happy that he was not hurt during the Pearl Harbor attack. And what a wonderful layout your created - I love it!
This LO is so cool! That photo looks like it should be something out of Hollywood movie clip and you've captured the essence of what I would imagine Pearl Harbour/Oahu to be in the 1940's. Just amazing!
Love this, you did a great job. I especially like how you split the overlay paper and connected the sides with the latches. Really great idea. Love the tribute to your father.
ok...this is my first attempt at steampunk! It's for the steampunk challenge, and boy is this style ever a challenge for me!!! Compared to other steampunk stuff I've seen, this is just not quite it!!! Buy, hey, I tried!!! lol!! We were to use a song, too, so The title is Toby's Keith's "American Soldier".
I am also entering it into the heritage challenge this month. I LOVE doing heritage layouts, and I love looking at other people's heritage layouts as well!!!
This is my dad when he was 18, in the Army Air Corps in Hawaii. This pic was taken just a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Thank God he was not hurt, in fact he was sleeping when the attack started.
Most everything in this layout represents something: the palm tree - Hawaii the ship - how he traveled to Hawaii the map - he was in the military 30 years and traveled everywhere the flower - Hawaii's full of them (& I just like flowers!!) the hula girls - He LOVED the hula girls the bird - flight the angel - his safety the year - he was there when Pearl was attacked
