Getting used to the idea of my eldest DD's first 'serious' boyfriend.

Journaling reads

This is just one aspect of the new territory we're in I suppose. All of a sudden I see you through someone else's eyes and I have to admit it feels strange. To him you're not my girl but his girl. This is your own choice of friend in a new and special sense, someone who is important to you regardless of how we might feel. I'm suddenly panicking slightly and hoping we've taught you enough about self respect and what to expect from other people's behaviour. I hope that you've seen how Dad treats me and that you'll expect the same from anyone you choose as a partner. You deserve the best, to be treated well, cherished and loved. I hope you accept nothing less, ever. Oh and by the way, we do like him!
