I made this 8 x 8 page a long time ago...pre-die cutting machines; when punches and decorative scissors were the tools of choice...um, the only choice. I finally purchased 10 x 10 shadow box picture frames, backed the pages with gold mirror board and now they are ready to be hung, finally!!!

The first time I saw this photo of my mom, many years ago, I was stunned! For as long as I could recall my mom was the 'housewife and mom' who would wear a 'house dress' and slippers. She would keep a spotless home; have dinner on the table at 6 pm; have the wash done and pressed. (even pressed daddy's boxer shorts and tee shirts). She was the best cook ever. I still can't get my meatballs to even taste close to hers. She rarely followed a recipe, unless it was for baking a fabulous cheesecake or apple pie.

And then one day, I came across this photo! My mom!!!! A hot, curvy, sexy mama! That was my mom!

Well, somethings do come full circle. In mom's last years dementia slowly started taking away the mom of today, but somehow the mom of yesteryear every so often would peek out. The sassy, funny, sexy mom I never knew. And how she would love to sing! Whether it was the Ava Maria or Patsy Kline's, "Have You Ever Been Lonely", I would love to listen to her sing as she remained bedridden for three years. Not once did she complain about being in bed; not once did she complain about her condition......looking back, my mom never complained about the constant pain she was in. At 70 yrs old she had total knee replacements on both knees just weeks apart! And, bless her heart, she would carry her "before and after" pics of how her legs had bowed out and how after the new knees, her legs were straight. The fact that the pics were of her in shorts, something she never wore, didn't bother her as she would show anyone. She was so proud of her new knees and straight legs.

She passed away a few months shy of her 95th birthday. I was fortunate to have had her for so long! And since I never moved away, and lived in the same house, I was blessed to have been a part of her daily journey till she reached the arms of our Lord.
