My dgd had two items on a 'super secret special' Christmas wish list that her mom found by accident. One wish was for a Newfie puppy which she didn't get. The other wish was to donate 100 dog toys to Fidelco which is a center for training German Shepherds a guide dogs. M went to a camp there last summer and has been invited back to be an assistant there this summer.
With some assistance from her mom she sent out a plea for help in meeting her goal by email and on fb. Toys (which had to be a particular brand and size) came flooding in (even my work Secret Santa gave me a toy to donate) while some folks sent checks.
She was able to deliver the 100 toys a few weeks ago and spend some time with the puppies too. Later she sent out a Thank you note to all those who donated. I loved her message in it.
