Love what you did with this! This is so beautiful! Great job making those flowers! I am working on mine today, I am heading away for the weekend so I will upload it to SB.com so it is in the upload album without putting it up yet. =)
Love your take on that square doily with the lace!!! Your crochetted flowers are STUNNING!!!!! LOVE the colors you used here and what a great take on Jeannie's page! Love the poetic take on your photo too with the vellum quote. Very cool page!
Love the flowers and mixed with the eyelet and the feathers, such a great combination. Love the wisdom of your sister! Great page for a great memory and determination. Hope you frame it.
Love your story, and congrats on losing all those pounds! The photo is real aha! moment, you sister was at the right place at the right time. You scrappped this memory beautifully!
This is gorgeous...love how you used the lace in lieu of a doily. And your flowers (first attempt..really???wow) with the feathers looks wonderful...I couldn't wait to see how you lifted my layout and you did a great job. Beautiful layout! Congratulations on your weight loss..as my dad used to say..it looks good off you. I need to lose 20-30....keep putting it off. Love the symbolism in the photo.
Your flowers are incredible. I love the rolled corners and the lace. The pps are beautiful and the bling is a nice touch. The story behind the LO is wonderful. Great work losing over 40 pounds so far. That's tough to do.
Everything about this is AWESOME, the lo, the pic, the flowers, the story. You have a very cool stories and thank you for sharing them with us. I like that you used the lace for the doily.
Those crocheted flowers are AWESOME!!! I would never have known they were your first. Love the touch of lace and the feathers too- nice soft items with the lines of the paper really adds that finishing touch to the page.
What a wonderful story to go with this great lo! It's not easy to lose weight! And it's not ANY fun! Your flowers are GREAT! What a super job you did and I love the button centers! Those feather are so fun! fav
Wow very pretty, and I am loving the rolled corners. Great job on the crochet flowers, my mom used to do that sort of work, she showed me how but I have not done it for years, maybe I will take it up again. I love the vintage lace and how fun that you used your rooster's feathers!!
Last March, my sister, my mom and one of her friends, and I all went to the Dallas Botanical Gardens. In one section of the grounds, there is a garden called, "The Lady's Garden."
In that garden, at the edge of a reflecting pool there is a statue of a woman. She's chubby. REALLY chubby. My sister and I laughed about how Reubenisc she was, and she really did make for some beautiful photographic shots.
I didn't think too much more about it but my sister happened to catch this shot of me walking down the sidewalk with the chubby woman in the background. At the time, I'd lost 40-something pounds, and my sister made the comment, "That's you - walking away from the fat girl.."
She was right in a very poetic and symbolic way. I AM walking away from the fat girl that was me. She's not gone yet, but before VERY much longer, I think she'll be just another part of my memories.
I'm still working at it, and I'm hoping to have the last 20 pounds gone by October when I go to Italy.
**********
I taught myself to crochet early last May on the way to my BIL's wedding in Kansas. (Hey - it's a five hour drive. I figured I might as well be productive as just look out the window!) I've been wanting to learn how for a while, mostly because I've been wanting to put some hand crocheted flowers on a layout. So that's what these are - my first crochet attempt! Don't look too hard - they're FAR from perfect. But they're mine, and I'm proud as anything of them! Thanks so much to Sarah (sarahmacnificent) for the inspiration to try!
