This is a wonderful two pager - they are really halves of concentric whole - love how you used the same paper in the circle that you used for the horizontal band, and that little envelope with the flowers spilling out is beautiful - love those wonderful pictures and the way you're mom dressed you alike in such sweet little dresses - so lovely. This is a FAVE.
congrats on your first gig away from home as you call it! I love how those flowers came out with that die. Such a wonderful feel to these old photos you created with the papers. Love the envelope with the tags. Guess your Mom knew the value of stopping to smell the flowers!
This is gorgeous - I have more old patterns from sewing Cassie's costumes than I know what to do with, and I've been meaning to use some on pages. Nice idea to make the skirt from one! Very clever :)
I swore I commented on this and put it on the first post of the challenge, but I guess somehow I didn't! Love the big star in the corner and love that it is a 2 pg lo! Beautiful!
Beautiful! Brought tears to my eyes! Military layouts always do! my DH is a soldier and we are very proud of all U.S. soldiers! Thank you and your daughter for your sacrifice!
She is indeed a beautiful woman and I am happy to hear that she is now cancer-free. This is a beautiful tribute to both of you who survived the 'cancer year' :)
I am so glad your mom survived her cancer scare! My mom is a breast cancer survivor, so I completely get the "we" thing. Your two-pager is lovely and I like those flowers a lot.
This is a beautiful L/o and story. She is beautiful, even though you can see the fear in her eyes. You have to be a pretty special person to beat cancer and live to tell about it.
I'm so excited to be posting this layout today. It's my very first layout for my new DT assignment with Nuts About Sketches. I was so excited when I got the news! It's my first "away from home gig!"
The sketch and the other DT projects can be found at the Nuts About Sketches blog site here : http://nutsaboutsketches.blogspot.com/
I worked this project up using a new company called Farmhouse Creations, located here in Oklahoma, and featured at my LSS, Scrapbook Alley in Harrah, OK. The sunflowers were done with the Tim Holtz tattered floral die, the envelope is a StampinUp die, and the leaves are from a McGill punch. I used a wet distress and pinch technique on the leaves to give them a little more life. The sun charm started out silver, but I made it fit my page scheme by coloring it with some alcohol ink. The button centers are vintage. I have a real jones for buttons - especially OLD buttons!
The photos - that's me on the far right - were taken one day in San Diego while my mom and my sister and I were waiting on my dad to take care of some kind of military something or other.
I'll be teaching this project in October at my LSS as part of my heritage class.
